Customer service here is very unprofessional. I called to confirm a table and was told "I dont know if we have availability you will just have to come here and see" and that the person on the phone is "in the back so they cant see the floor" to know if tables are available or not. Person was also unwilling to go out on to floor to check and was then left on hold with no definitive answer. This place is cool... I've been there for dinner and during happy hour. They have a nice size bar which every time I've gone has been packed. The drinks are decent and the food is tasty...The Salmon Caesar Salad is my favorite, every time I've ordered it the salmon has been juicy and it's a healthy portion, the greens are fresh and the other toppings (bacon, egg, etc were good too)...For the most part the bartenders I've encountered are friendly and professional...I give this place a 4 star instead of 5 because the last time my hubby and I went the wings during happy hour were very small and dried out. I'd definitely recommend this place as a nice spot to grab a bite to eat with your spouse or friends. If going for dinner with family however, depending on what you order it can be a little pricey. read more

I am so sorry to have to write this review. My husband and I are regulars here and LOVE the happy hour and brunch. We were both off today which is rare and decided to go for happy hour. We were seated in the bar area and had a waitresses named Jasmine. We asked her if happy hour had started yet. She said she would get us some water and check the time. She came back and confirmed that her computer showed it was 4pm and happy hour had begun. We placed our order of a few drinks and food from the happy hour menu. When we received the bill we noticed she rung our order up at 3:56pm and all of our items were full price. When we brung it to her attention she started, "oh my goodness, I'm so sorry let me get the manager to fix it". The manager Mike approached our table very rude and blunt. He stated he could not make any adjustments to our bill. He showed no compassion or concern of of our issue. His demeanor was very belittling as he looked at my husband and I with a death stare and said to us "so yea I can't do nothing for yall" and walked off. The waitress Jasmine came back apologizing and shared that she was new and wasn't aware that the time she gave us was wrong. I then went to the hostess desk and asked for the general manager who they said was Phillip Motley and he was no longer available. I ask for any other manager other than Mike who could help. Moments later Mike returned stating, "What is the problem!? Didn't I tell yall it was nothing I could do!?". At this time we are at the front desk with patrons trying to reserve a table. I politely asked Mike if we could stand over to the side to not bring attention or distrust other guests. I calmly explained to him again the situation and how the waitress openly admitted to being wrong. With the same death stare Mike expressed not being able to help us. He stated to have spoke to another manager by the name of Miguel who confirmed he could not accommodate us for the waitress misinformation. He also refused to contact Philip regarding our concers. He stated, "You have Phillip number call him if you want I don't care". Very frustrated at this point my husband and I agreed to leave and handle this with upper management. As we are walking away Mike states out loud to another staff person, "I don't know what the f*** thier problem is, I told them I wasn't going to f***ing help their a$$es!". My husband hears him and asked him to repeat himself. Mike firmly started, "You heard what the f*** I said!". My husband is so pissed at the level of disrespect at this point. He had not said anything and watched this man "Mike" disrespect me through this entire exchange. At this point we had to swallow our pride and leave before things escalated. I typically do not write reviews but this has to be reported. I am so sad my favorite happy hour and brunch spot is no longer a place I feel welcome spending my money. We travel from Waldorf to dine here but unfortunately will not be returning. I'm currently working with my credit card company to see how this can be reported as a fraudulent charge. I think the saying is 3rd times a charm wellllllll second time charmed me. My first experience here was so so, I think I just ordered the wrong thing to be honest. I got the fried platter and everything was ok but not absolutely delicious. I would've enjoyed if they added some old bay or something in the batter to give it a kick. The crab cake I had had a horrible taste that I'm going to attribute to the fact it was fried. I also ordered the egg rolls.i really wanted these to hit home but they didn't. There was nothing that gave these a kick. A nice sauce could've kicked them up a notch but all in all they were rather bland and a little burned. I glanced around at others meals and saw some pretty amazing meals so I knew I'd be back. Second time I ordered right! Crab dip for starters and man it was bomb. They didn't serve enough French bread or tortilla chips with it though. But both were good but their French bread was warm, a little toasty on the outside but absolute soft on the inside and delightful. I would prefer they serve this over the complimentary rolls. My hubby ordered the tiger wings and they were crispy sweet and tangy! I loved them. I ordered the short smoked salmon with mashed potatoes and their Mac and cheese. (I know carb overload) the salmon was cooked perfectly and delicious although I would've preferred a hint more of seasoning..if there was any on there at all. But I guess that speaks volumes that it was still delish regardless. Mashed potatoes were good and a little of the juice from my salmon rolled underneath which made them even better lol. Now the Mac and cheese didn't look appealing at first. It gave me a kraft Mac n cheese vibe. But when I tasted it it was pretty good. It wasn't a baked Mac but more like a Mac with a cheese sauce and drizzled with extra cheese. They added I think cayenne pepper to it which gave it a bit of a kick which I appreciated. The second visit has been especially bad. The waitress walked up to our table and without introduction asked us what we wanted. I used to visit Jasper's frequently years ago but recently went there just purchasing some appetizers. I brought two crab dips because I remembered they used to be delicious. This time my visit was one to remember. My husband's crab dip had a long piece of plastic in there. Plastic from what, I'll never know. So, we called them to inform them. The 1st young lady wasn't surprised or disgusted. She said please give me your email address & I'll send you a gift card for the amount. No I'm sorry, that doesn't happen or how can we rectify this situation. SMH, just nasty. She was so very nonchalant. Too cavalier for me. With all this coronavirus stuff going on, they should be super vigilant. I never received any gift card from them & frankly at this point I don't want one. I went to jaspers today and literally waited 20 minutes for our waiter to come. When the waiter finally does come she has an attitude and was very loud. I asked for a glass of water 3 times before finally getting it and she only brought 1 when there were three of us. Later asked for the manager who came out looking confused and on something (only speculating). He claimed he would look into the situation and finally the watress came back to take out order after 45 minutes of waiting. I used to meet up with friends here once a week for happy hour. It's been about a year or two and the service has changed for the worse. When we arrived the restaurant was less than half full but we were still told there was a 15 to 20 minute wait. We asked why we couldn't be seated and were told they didn't have enough servers for any more tables. It was Sunday evening around 7... that's pretty standard for dinner. We ordered drinks at the bar to pass time and still ended up waiting about 30 minutes for a table. Our server came and greeted us about 5 minutes after we were seated and said he would be back shortly. We still had our drinks from the bar so this was fine. When he returned he asked if we were ready to order and we mentioned that we both wanted salads but also had a question about an appetizer that used to be on the regular menu. He said he wasn't sure and wanted to ask real quick but didn't return for another 30 mins. We saw him pass the table several times but he seemed to be in a hurry and never stopped back by. There were only 3 other tables in his section. When he returned he apologized and said he had a problem with a bill and had to get it fixed. At this point we still had not gotten out salads and he never asked about the appetizer. We asked him to please put in the salads as soon as possible. Another 30-40 minutes went by and he never returned. We ended up just leaving. My bf said something to the host as we were leaving and their explanation was that he was new. I'm pretty patient and understanding but this was unacceptable. Shout out to the bartenders for still making good strong drinks but other than that the service for dinner is subpar. This used to be a favorite place of mine and although I don't frequent here like I used to it was always a sure bet. Service wise this is not the case anymore. I never forgot to leave my review. I've just been missing from YELP. But I have time today to warn you all why I do NOT recommend this place. BEWARE! I now understand FULLY, when people say "I would give this place ZERO stars if I could." I came here with my sister and two family friends (her best friend and her best friend's brother) LAST YEAR and I have NOT returned since. This proves to me, I am NEVER going to return. So, we all decided to go out to eat. It was snowing. We arrived to a wait of thirty minutes, but we decided to stay. Once we were finally seated, we met our hostess--Beverly. She sure was not the warmest of people and disappeared often in our visit. I had to flag her down because she did not write our orders and I was afraid she had forgotten after waiting thirty minutes for our food after enjoying our appetizer. She was nonchalant, but we did not want to assume. We gave her the benefit of having a bad day. (Something is wrong about her eye, but please don't be ignorant. Just noting, in case y'all get her because I did remember her name. Now, to say her personality--that SUCKED! I do hope she has changed her personality by now or moved on to a job that she enjoys.) Once our food arrived, my sister's best friend mentioned that she was missing an order of fries. Beverly rolled her eyes, sucked her teeth and goes, "Oh my goshhh!" I was absolutely shocked and disgusted! I thought I was losing my mind, but we all discussed it after. Time goes by... No fries. Mind you, it was snowing outside. Their mom sent them a request to bring back Tiger Wings. I'll keep the story short. But this is where it really fell apart. Beverly never put the order of wings in either because she wasn't writing anything, y'all! We get our checks and remind her that the wings that were not listed. My sister's best friend told her that the service was bad and at this point they should be free. This must have annoyed Beverly because I had to get out of my seat and find her because we were so patient, but she was wearing out our moods. I asked for her manager. No one ever came. I had to ask another waiter to get a manager! I ended up giving him Beverly's tip instead since this alone was more service that she provided. The manager said the owner would not allow him to comp the wings. The owner refused to come out. We paid for the wings and waited for them to come. The manager brought them back to us and apologized. He provided me with a phone number I requested to tell them about our experience. This is a family-owned business, so there is no corporate. The number only ever rang a long while. I would not recommend Jasper's. I had been here previously on a date, for my birthday and with a girl friend. The food is good, but I realize I never had great customer service there and that to me is the true staple of a business. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I had just left church and my friend decides to take me to Jaspers. They have a Sunday brunch buffet where I can eat my glutinous little heart out and he can watch the Redskins game. Should be simple right? WRONG. I will walk you through my experience. So I get to the host stand- the male host is inattentive and does not greet. After 15 seconds of awkward silence and him staring at me with his lip curled up I ask to put my name down for a table of two. His response - "NAME." He then tells me it's a 10 minute wait which is not too bad at all but my guy friend asks are we allowed to eat full menu at the bar. The hostess basically yells at us asking if we are going to eat at the bar or wait at the bar? At this point I am confused... WTH are you so angry about? I calmly tell the host, please keep my name on the list, we are just going to wait at the bar, to which he tells me in 10 minutes you need to come up here and check to see if you are table is ready. Wait, but I just saw you page another guest on the intercom... why do I have to come back and check in with you? Let's fast forward past the awkward and awful introduction. We are shortly called for our table. Of course they put us in the ONLY section in the entire restaurant with no visibility to the TVs. We kindly ask the server if it would be OK to move two tables over to be able to see the TVs. Entire section is basically empty so of course this shouldn't be a problem right? WRONG. She tells us, with complete hands motions and all, that the server for that section is done, cut, finito, no longer taking tables. OK, well you can't just pick up another table outside of your section? I'm sorry... I worked in the restaurant industry for three years so yes you can assign a different server to that table. It's not like you have chains confining you to these three tables in the corner. My friend becomes irritated and the server is extremely combative. I ask to speak with a manager and she tells me with entirely too much attitude to go ask the host to switch our table because "she doesn't have the authority to change tables". So my friend storms to the host stand to see what is the big deal about moving two tables over? Are those tables reserved? WTH is the big issue? And of course Mother Rudeness himself makes the issue worse by asking to see what table we want to move to? IT DOES NT MATTER, JUST ONE WHERE WE CAN SEE THE GAME! Yes 10 minutes wasted arguing with the host and server only to be sat at the exact table they fought so hard to keep us from. Did the restaurant get any more packed while we were there? Nope. Did a huge party enter that perhaps they were saving those tables for? Nope. Are they miserable staff members committed to ruining a perfectly beautiful Sunday with their funky attitudes? YES! And on to the food... it was OK. I have to admit the waffles were delish but for everything else they could definitely take some tips on how a Sunday brunch buffet should be from Copelands Buckhead Atlanta. The food is definitely not worth being aggravated beyond belief. The server did become progressively nicer towards the end of our meal, checking on us a record 3 times in 20 minutes. (Gotta make that tip huh girl?) But needless to say in its entirety I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. They literally just drain the happy out of you with their horrible attitudes. The majority of the staff is moping around with their faces screwed up. I hate to be that person but black people, my beautiful black people, GET IT TOGETHER. (or is hoodrat one word?) i'd almost describe jasper's as the ghetto version of T.G.I.Friday's. almost. it's not quite that bad, but close. the food is either tasteless or a salt lick, and usually greasy and luke warm. service is miss more than hit. if you go on a week night - especially thursday to saturday - be prepared for the hood rat parade. the bar will be packed and if nothing else, good for people watching/some cheap entertainment. i think they have brunch on the weekends too, but i doubt it's worth finding out for sure. read more

Do Not Eat Here - matter fact don't drink here either! I am not someone who is an angry patron looking for revenge. Matter fact this was a spot me and my girlfriends have gone to for years for drinks, flirting, and other grown and sexy outings. Well as I pulled back the napkin to expose my hot fries - a ROACH - fully grown - was crawling across the top of my fries!!!!!! I was absolutely disgusted. Not one to like scenes or a lot of attention. I politely called over the bartender and showed him the "situation" and he asked me if I wanted to order another batch of fries...ummm...is that a real question? I think I'll pass but can I speak to the manager...The manager comes out and comps our drinks/meal and gave me a $50 coupon towards my next visit... Needless to say - there won't be a next visit .... Management is rude and lacks basic customer service skills. After receiving the wrong order and then finding out that the order is being prepared incorrectly a second time, because of the time that it has taken for the meal to finally arrive after the order was taken (almost an hour) the customer asked if the meal could be comped, 1) because it was still wrong and 2) because the rest of the party was almost done eating and she did not want to wait any longer. The server referred the customer to the floor manager (Richard). Rather than resolving the issue with a customer's order being incorrect, he instead takes the plate away (a salad) and brings back a to go container of lettuce, cheese, and bacon (or something) and says in a rather condescending tone "is this what you want?" Ultimately the customer (a friend of mine) left the restaurant not having eaten even half of a meal. (She was going to eat the incorrect salad simply because she was hungry, but the plate was rudely taken away when she explained that she felt that she shouldn't have to pay.) Including the initial wait time (almost 2 hours) we were in the establishment for about 4 hours. To leave still hungry is a horrible way to end the evening. Visited Jasper's for the first time with a friend of mine and three kids ages: (9/9/2) we called in advance to speak w a manager due to a less then favorable visit she had previously. She was promised two free appetizers on her next visit. We were placed on hold.... while in route. 15 minutes later we arrive, waited maybe 3-5 minutes and asked to speak to manager while still on hold. To no avail! They seat us near the kitchen in a booth but when we arrive at the table there's a random kid coloring alone at the table! Someone comes and moves the child (a workers toddler) and no waiter for maybe 3-5 minutes. Awkward Finally she comes, is very friendly and takes drink orders... meanwhile my friend is still on hold and the line was picked up once and placed on hold again lol. Friend explains manager situation for free appetizers to waiter and she says she'll get manager. Still on hold btw. Finally 35-40 mins after arriving manager comes and okays the free appetizers (phew) Food took a good amount of. Time to come but it was worth the wait!! Oh and the rolls & bread before food comes is ama-za-zing!! lol it's sweet and fluffy- heaven like! I had spicy Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta yum!! My daughter liked her food as. Well I believe it was chicken fingers. One child had fried shrimp and fries yummy yum! Food was better then great and I'll be back to try drinks and another plate of that pasta! I've loved Jaspers in the past, but now I am terribly offended. (1) First, I asked for "a small taste" of one of the rum infusion drinks in a double-shot glass. My order was mistaken for a double-order, and I was charged $19 for a drink. I fought with both the server and the manager, saying that my order should have been repeated/clarified, but they would not budge. (2) Second, I ask for a black bean burger with toppings on the side. The burger is brought with cheese on top! Sheesh! (3) Our order consisted of appetizers and drinks, and the entire bill came to $40. An additional 18% tip was tacked onto the bill without fore-warning. (4) I was at the bar with the boyfriend. I paid the bill, but the check was brought to him to sign! I was offended and made a comment to the manager. She said that the servers are trained to always assume that the man (boyfriend, husband) is paying for the female companion. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken salad for curbside pickup. The service was great but... the salad was mediocre at best. I've had the salad from there before it was great. Last Thursday - nope! The salad itself was limp and looked old. The fixings were just dumped. The chicken was sparse. Overall a total disappointment. I sent the restaurant a complaint via the "Contact Us" link. My friends and I decided to go to Jaspers for a fun birthday celebration at 8 PM on a Friday night. When we got there we were told that there was no designated seating and to go find a table. We were reseated four different times, by restaurant staff before we finally were given our final table which was not big enough for our entire party. Now granted we had a rather large party of about 25-30 people. So some of us stood, while others orders were taken and they ate. The orders were taken rather quickly which we were happy to see, however it took a while for our drinks or our orders to come out. Some of us were waiting for over an hour for our food. When we did get our food which is very affordable, we were very pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. If you are there try the candied yams/sweet potatoes... They are simply to die for!!! Towards the end of our meal another party that was there had broken out into a fight in the waiting area of the restaurant. The scuffle was rather loud as we could hear it on the other side of the restaurant. When some of us moved towards the front to see what was happening, we saw at least 5 different police officers trying to break up two women fighting. The end result of our dining experience: 1) Our waitress was very friendly. 2) One of the ladies that came to help clear the table so some of us could sit down and eat was very friendly, the other one seemed offended that we asked her to take some of the dirty dishes back to make room for some of our plates. 3) The food was great and very affordable. If I do go back it will be only for the food, and probably not on a night when folks tend to plan to go out after hours and pre-game during dinner. 4) It took from 8 PM until midnight for all of us to be able to sit and get all of our food and drinks. And this was with our calling ahead to ensure that they had seating for a party of our size. read more

Visited last night while the playoff game was going and it had just started snowing. It was a full house surprisingly but yet managed to grab a table in the bar area. The waiter Delonte was a little too fast paced for my table. He kept walking past really fast and picking up glasses that we weren't finished with without asking if we were done. At one point a friend sitting with me visited another table to say hi to a friend and Delonte picked up his belongings and decided to move them to where my friend went and didn't ask if he was done or coming back so my friend had to move his stuff back to our table. My friend knew one of the bartenders and wanted to order a drink from her and Delonte tracked him down at the bar and stated if he's sitting at his table he MUST order from him. I've been to Jaspers several times and I have been in the bar area and sat the bar before and I've been able to order drinks from either place whether by waiter or directly at the bar. His behavior didn't sit well with me and all I ordered was crab dip and end up leaving it at the restaurant barely touched so that was a waste. The establishment has good food and drinks and my friends and I made the best of the situation. I've been here before and hadn't received service like that prior to last night. Bad service at the bar area. The Caucasian lady with tattoos on her arm is not the nicest and her customer service is very poor. On the night I was there she looked me over and did not even ask if I needed anything. She offered up several bad facial expressions and mostly talked to the men while flirting on the job. Many reviewers give harsher than necessary reviews for this place. I think many expect it to be a ritzy, high class dining experience because of the decor, but they arent trying to do that here. They are a solid food option thats a step about Applebees and the such but a step below some of the premier DC area restaurants. Jaspers had the good fortune to purchase the old BET Soundstage so they have a gorgeous space. I think that raises expectations a little higher than they should. Often the service is the main sticking point here. Food prep times are usually long and on busy weekends you should maybe bring your patience. Once you do get your food though.....its good. There arent a lot of restaurants in the Largo area and besides Outback, Applebees, Fridays and Ruby Tuesday, this is it. I just need to know where they get that ranch from that they use for the wings. Lol. I love it. read more

I would only recommend this place during the week during lunch time. I came tonight (on a Friday) around 9pm and the service and food are poor. There was also hair in our food. Jasper's is a great go to for happy hour. The food taste great, and the drinks are strong. However, if you're going for customer service, simply don't. Last night the waiter took over an hour to get me a water. This of course, was long after our party of 6 was expected to use one menu to order from. After bringing it to the waiter's attention, (Brent) he responded with, well you should have said something to me "stinka butt". I'm sorry, pet names being used to refer to customers?? Wow JASPERS! To make matters worse, he added 18% gratuity to our checks, when it clearly states gratuity will be added for parties of 7 and more. The manager seemed to be somewhat understanding, but did not deliver nearly the customer service skills that you would receive from CHICK FIL A. New to the area, I was looking forward to trying this place - especially after hearing so much hype about it. However, the food was about average - if that. The service was below average - casual (as if we were best friends) instead of friendly service, slow service and servers recommending other local restaurants. The desserts were/are great. The drinks were good. But, the rest = just okay. What we do know is that there is a robust social scene there - especially for urban professionals. If zero stars were an option I would have. Absolutely sad an unacceptable in this day an age to be treated the way we were. The hostess took us around the back way, behind a wall in an area that looked as if it was meant for staff, to our seats when there was a straight path to them. We waited for 15 minutes and has to ask a busser where our wait staff was, no drink orders. Then he was the one to bring our bread... after cleaning a dirty table?? Server finally comes 5 minutes after that and says "I will be right back." Another 10 minutes and he comes to take our order. Only one soft drink choice offered. Rude. Short and seemed to be pushing us out the door. Maybe time to enter the 21st century and treat all customers the same. read more
