I have been going to Jaspers's 30 years since they were located in Greenbelt Maryland. I ordered a salmon and crab dinner from there along with tiger wings with calamari. I got this from curb side I'm sad to say it was terrible too much sauce on calamari and salmon dry tasted terrible veggies overcooked for a place I have visited over 30 years this was the worst usually the service is slow but food and drinks on point. I wanted to link up with my Mom (The Duchess) and have a surprise lunch today and she happened to be in the Largo area when I caught up with her. I remembered this place from years ago, as a pretty decent spot! When we arrived and were seated, Mom jetted to the restroom and soon after our waitress Nicole approached, introduced herself and thus began my experience. The what was not worth it but it wasn't bad! I'm going to go with what I ate and not the service. I will say I had to wait 1 hour which we were told to wait for. So I can't complain about that. Once we got a table it was crazy cause we was told to seat at a small table. Then we looked over at a bigger table. We where a party of 6 with a table to fit 4. I know that's what was given. I told them no pecans in my sweet potato casserole because I'm allergic and they still put them in there. I ordered the crab and salmon explosion. They do not cooked their seafood completely. I threw the salmon out because I started to notice it was uncooked. The crab cake might have been uncooked but i took no chances. I went to Jasper's yesterday for curbside service during lunch time. I had 3 separate orders and gave the server 3 separate payments. What I can't seem to understand is how he charged the other two people for their meals and still managed to charge my card 6 times totaling in $92.40. My lunch special meal was $10.34. How? Even if he put all three meals together it still would not have came over $50 dollars. This establishment is clearly corrupt and should not have people handling money if they do not know what they are doing. Training is clearly needed because basic math is out the window at this point. There was a receipt right in front of you that tells you what to charge and I even handed him sticky notes with the totals on them and wrapped it around the cards. And he even handed me a receipt for $10.34 as if that's all he charged my card. I tipped the guy in cash so that can't be the excuse. I'm so glad I'm one of those people who checks their accounts daily when they purchase something. If I wasn't I may have never caught this. I used to go to Jasper's all the time but AFTER THIS I am not going back. They are just too careless. If you do go bring cash but they may mess that up too! While being seated at our table we were told with a rude tone that we only have an hour and a half to enjoy our meal. We asked the host does the time start when we got our food he said it started when we sat at the table. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING puddles of water in stalls, no toilet paper, and trash overflowing. The restaurant was huge inside and it was a little dark inside with nice lightening. The wait was stated as a 30 minute wait to 45 minutes. However, 15 minutes later they came to grab us. Keep in mind I went around 9pm so close to their closing time. So make sure to plan ahead since they served us close to closing time. We were a party of 10, attending on a recent Sunday afternoon. Jasper's was festively lit with Christmas decorations. This brought me great joy. They don't take reservations, so we had to wait, but it was comfortable in the wait room to the left. Our Waiter, Sydney was attentive and responsive, the drinks generous and water glasses stayed fulled. You can imagine, with a party of 10 the orders would be varied. However, I'd like to point out a few dishes. The spinach dip was delicious and served eith tortilla chips and fresh crusty bread. The crab meat egg rolls were amply stuffed with very, very fresh crab meat. Order it! The shrimp and grits with andouille sausage rendered an OMG response. It's creamy, savory and infused with flavor throughout. I ordered the fried shrimp platter, replaced with cole slaw instead of fries. Again, very, very fresh seafood and a nicely crisp slaw. I would advise that you only get a salmon Caesar salad. That's about it! The atmosphere is kind of hood. It's a mixture of older people and young. I tried the salmon and grits once, and it was a no. This was our first time at Jasper's. We are traveling for my daughter's track meet and decided to eat dinner here. It was a great atmosphere and the food was amazing. What I loved most about the venue is that it seemed to be the "place to be" for African American folks. Everyone was having a good time, eating, talking and watching the game. I ordered a seafood platter with fried shrimp and scallops. My husband had a jerk speciality platter. It was great. Unfortunately, after driving back home my daughter pointed out her wings were missing. I called back spoke with "the manager" she stated I had to bring my order back in. I explained I lived in Ft Wash. and it didn't make since would they credit my account- no. I hung up and proceeded to pack up items and return but said I'll try again. Called back and spoke with another manager she took my table number/ receipt number and additional info and stated she would credit my card the $12(rounded). Well as of today- my bank account still reflects a total bill of $140. As I stated before I am working to patronize my community/ County.... for this I've crossed this one off my list. Had a very terrible experience! I dined here a few nights ago my server was very friendly and attentive. The problem was their food! I ordered their honey bbq wings as an appetizer why would I ever be served food with a deep fried roach mixed in my wings. I was disgusted, disappointed and very frustrated! The server let me know they do have roaches but it's usually not in the food. The manager Carol was very rude and was no help at all to the situation, as he tried to put blame on the guests versus giving me a free meal for the day. Tiger wings and crab dip is all you need with the strong drinks they serve here. If you're looking for a meal try the salmon and a friend of mine swears by the salmon burger. Out of the Jaspers, this is the most packed especially at brunch and Happy Hour. It's a newer than the others as well and used to be the old BET Soundstage Club which may have much to do with the crowds. The brunch is slightly better here than at Greenbelt. Casual place to eat that serves standard, American, TGIFridays-type food. It can get a bit sceney during happy hour and weekend nights so be aware. Good place to go and hang out with friends. People go to pretty much be seen during these times and it can be crowded. The people watching is great though. Happy Hour specials are pretty good and the portions are huge. The BBQ Chicken Sandwich was a go to favorite and I liked the Buffalo Wings, Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls (!), and Chinolatino Eggrolls. Crispy fried fatty goodness. Depending on the bartender, drinks can be good and strong. This is a place you'd go to for the aforementioned times and for sporting events if you want noise and atmosphere and entertainment. read more

Today, I wanted to try something different and try out Jasper's brunch. Umm... All I can say is that they tried. This place is great otherwise but the food today was underwhelming. The food is served buffet style. They have you typical breakfast food (bacon, eyes, sausage, grits... Etc), omelette, fajita, and waffle station. There is a fruit/salad section. The fruit was definitely old. The kiwi was extra slimy. The desserts need to be vastly revisited. I tried their chocolate cake but it was not too tasty. The highlight for me was the mimosa. I've never had it was ice but it was cool. Also, I will ask for the manager to verify the spelling of words on cakes before sending it on the floor for customers. Hard to beat a $20 brunch buffet in this area. But I still dreaded coming to Jasper's with some friends after church for the first time in years after never having been impressed and was pleasantly surprised I didn't want to flip a table by the end. They don't take brunch reservations (we'd tried the week prior) and the hostess stand was a hot mess quoting a 1.5 hour wait to scare us away but we waited anyway and were sat within about 25 minutes. Imagine if we had left? Clearly a retraining is needed, I understand managing expectations but don't miss out on customers because you're afraid. Our server was friendly but perhaps a bit in the weeds, she forgot flatware, drinks, etc. The buffet staff (mainly waffle man) was surly as hell but maybe he was having a bad day. #notmyproblem.
