Today I ordered pick up #14186775 and WAS quite pleased with the fluidity and timeliness BUT as I wasn't the one passing out the food, when I got up and checked on my grandbaby, she did not have the brownie stated with the burger nor her root beer. We all now know that you CANNOT get a call into Jaspers for ANY reason. That itself makes me want to give you all a 1* If you cannot answer phones due to ANYTHING, I suggest you upgrade your establishments parameters to include a full time admin in the back (or off premises) that can help handle the calls that come in. If you don't take reservations SAY it, not press 1 just to say you don't, if you don't take curbside SAY IT, not press some other number JUST to say it. To be the restaurant you want to be and could be, you have so many administrative short comings and you have been around for a long time. You gotta do better on your phone side. It's ridiculous. But back to my baby not getting her complete meal. What you gonna do?? And you all do see I Yelp (not OUR first time). I'd love to raise those stars today, but nope because your customer service sucks. Real talk, it should be an all around establishment, not just at at the tables. Got seat after 15 minutes. A server never came to our table. We ordered food from the bar, and it was brought to our table. This is 100% unexceptionable! I try to support neighborhood establishments, but I see why they are the way they are. We've been here over 45 minutes and still no wait staff person. Why is your customer service so bad? The food here is horrible. The spinach artichoke dip taste like paste. The vegetable pocket has no seasoning and the honey mustard didn't pair well with either. Not to mention, it wasn't a pocket. It was served on rubbery flat beead. The red beans and rice had no season. The french fries are old and over cooked. The hush puppies taste like donuts. The ice tea is watered down. All the food just lacked season and flavor. You must have to have an alcoholic drink first in order to eat the food here. This place needs to be on Kitchen Nightmares. Jasper's is a staple to the Upper Marlboro area. This location has changed names since it first opened. But from what I can remember, it looks the same on the inside. I particularly like the crab dip, and lunch specials. The blackened salmon salad is really good. The soup and salad combo is a disappointment but there are other things that make up for that particular item on the menu. The service is a little slow sometimes which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. The cell reception on the inside is also piss poor. You can't be waiting for a call in this location because it just may not go through and they don't have wifi with is a big no no in 2018. I prefer lunch at Jasper's and thats about it. I will definitely keep coming back in the future as the prices are reasonable and I know what to expect as far as food as service goes. read more

For a Saturday afternoon around 3pm, I was disappointed on all fronts from our Server. I don't venture out much to PG County, so when I do, I look forward to having a nice experience...our Server made sure of the opposite. After waiting 5-7 minutes to be seated in a un-busy restaurant, we were one of three tables in our Server's rotation. 10 minutes for him to return with water. 15 minutes for him to return to take our order. Almost 35 minutes for him to bring out our food, which 2 out of 3 orders were incorrect. Due to his nonchalant attitude of not wanting to be proactive to correct the orders nor comprehending what "please ask your Manager to stop by" meant...it took me 1 minute to cancel my order, gather my things, inform my dining pals I was leaving, & call an Uber. On the way out, I mentioned to the Host that the Floor/Serving Managers needed to be more present & accountable for their serving team. His snarky facial expression & mumbling confirmed my early departure to be worthwhile. Who ever Jasper is, you need to get your establishment & the people that represent it in order. read more

I'm in MD visiting a friend and she has us go to Jasper's for dinner. I was under the impression it was Black owned. As soon as we walk in I happen to notice a sign (see attached) they had at the front. The sign caught my attention immediately based on their dress code. As we waited, I read the list of things that are not allowed in the restaurant. As I am reading down the the list I see, "Men: no tank tops". Ok fine that was specific. Now the second line is what INFURIATEDDD me. It stated "Women: tasteful clothing that's not too revealing". I'm like this has to be an absolute joke. I'm from a very liberal state so I was shocked that an establishment would be bold enough to have a sign such as this. I asked to speak to the manager and he came over. I asked who approved the sign and he said management. I asked him if this was company policy and he said yes. I then explained to him how MISOGYNISTIC and SEXIST the sign was. Why were women being singled out for their choice of clothing saying "not too revealing" but the men had a specific item that was not allowed. I then asked him who makes the decision as to what "tasteful" clothing was and he said he did. At that point I knew I was speaking with a misogynistic person so my being offended was lost on him. How deplorable to not only feel that you can determine what a woman wears but that you can choose to allow her into your place of business bc YOU think her outfit is not tasteful. Based on what exactly? The men's clothing was specific but not the women. I even went as far as asking him if my cropped hoodie was appropriate since my stomach was out and he said it was fine BECAUSE HE SAID IT WAS FINE. FIRST OF ALL WHO ARE YOU? After he told me it was company policy I went on the website and read what the policy said and it states "no athletic shirts, no torn or spiked clothing and no profanity on clothing". No where did it state anything about what women should wear and what was tasteful. Dress codes are always general and if they are GENDER SPECIFIC, it encompasses a host of unwanted clothing, not an offensive one-liner. So he was ill-informed and basically lied. The website says one thing but your sign said another. After we sit down, my friend asks to speak to Erica the other manager. I noticed she was behind the first manager during this conversation so we figured she was privy to it. My friend kept asking the waiter to get Erica but after about 20 mins of waiting, we were told she wasn't coming over and she asked the other manager to handle it. My friend then told Cameron, the waiter, we only wanted to speak with her and she didn't need to be scared. As we know, in America three black women are obviously threatening. Do you know how disrespectful and mean that was to hear that being told to us? Erica comes over after our dinner and we speak to her about the sign. She lets us know that management, Phillip the GM and his dad, the owner are the ones who approved the sign. We asked why the sign on the website was not the same as the sign they had posted in the restaurant and she didn't have a clear response. I told her I was very offended and she said "that's fine". At that point the conversation was just done for. The first manager I spoke with had dreadlocks. What I find so funny that there was almost a law that went into place that would have disallowed men having dreads in the workplace. How would he have felt if that actually went into place?? People can be so DENSE. Before the end of the night, 3 police officers accosted us because Erica called them on us and said my friend allegedly did something. Two more county police showed up as well so that is a total of 5 POLICE MEN. One banged on the hood of the car screaming for us to get out the car and that we would be arrested. Imagine this EVER happening to THREE WHITE GIRLS. NEVER! This establishment is HORRIFIC. It's made to seem like a black owned establishment with all the black workers and the hip hop music and creates the facade that it welcomes blacks. However, it's overpoliced and it's almost like the establishment is scared of the people they are trying to cater to. Seems like the black dollar is fine as long as they don't get too "black". I could go more into the night but legally, I can't discuss the aftermath. At the end of the day, MISOGYNOIR is real. The restaurant's clientele is primarily Black. The message on the sign for women would be directed to Black women. Let's just call it for what it is. Stereotypes and bias exist. I know many of you will read this and say "if you were dressed appropriately why do you care" or "why didn't you just leave" or even better "you're just looking for something to be mad about". Feel free to think whatever, but at the end of the day, they are wrong. Not sure how things go in MD but first and last. Guess we'll see how this goes. Not the same with an extra dose of poor customer service! Went there with a group of friends today after a memorial service. Got up from the table and my drink was gone. Instead of the managers replacing the 1/2 of a drink, they said they reviewed the camera, taking more than 20-30 minutes, and didin't see anything. We know it costs them about $2 to remake 1/2 a drink, they refused and we spent over $1200 including food and drinks which I'm sure is more money than they've made before 4pm in a while. This is also probably why no one really goes there anymore. We get it now! If you don't respect our money, move to another place. We had a choice and could have picked another restaurant, but we picked Jaspers , Largo, Maryland and will now spend our money somewhere else once a month! Can't complain about the atmosphere here, it's not my cup of tea but the scores of young professions crowding the place seemed to be enjoying themselves. Wait service was initially attentive then went missing in action. They sport an impressive amount of liquid libations, including Cocktails, beers and wines that go from cheap to expensive. The biscuits and honey butter you get to start your meal are exceptional, but the food goes downhill from there. I had a Jambalaya that was substandard and an insult to any southerner (like myself) who knows what a good Jambalaya should taste like. Wifey had 3 sides and was only impressed with the Hush Puppies. She didn't care for the collards or the mashed she ordered. This is my go to happy hour spot when I do not feel like traveling to the city. Happy hour is from 4p to 7p Mon-Fri. Half priced appetizers and $1 off drinks. Good vibes with R&b and Hip Hop music playing softly in the venue. Normally the news or a sporting event is playing on the televisions. The venue is dimly lit. Happy hour is available at the bar and at the tables. Pretty urban and chill. I've never had a bad experience here. The food is consistently good! I had the the tiger shrimp which to my understanding is a lot of people's favorite dish. I also tried the calamari for the first and it was really good. The appetizers are FULL sized not snack size. I never have to order a meal because I'm always full. I also had the brownie Sunday and a strawberry blondie for a drink. read more

It would be nice to patronize black owned restaurants but why do they all have the same problems (insert Keith Lee). The service is always slow and inattentive with limited options but that is not the worst part. Whoever is in charge of basic things like the hostess stand and putting names on a list should be fired. The wait list is so simple but apparently taking names and moving them around to allow people to arrive is too much for the system to handle. It is not that hard and some basic professional decorum should be the standard but never at places in the DMV. Why do we have to settle for such bad service? Jaspers is the bar you see on tv shoes. It's a local spot that attracts grown people from all over. The bar is always packed at this location. Its open just late enough to eat dinner without rushing for a 10 o clock curfew. Upon arrival we decided to sit at the bar. After a short wait because most of the seats are full we found comfortable self seating. We gazed upon the menu and found some enticing options. We chose our entree first and decided last minute to be a little fatter and get an appetizer. The BBQ wings were good with the pepper ranch served. Next I ordered the Darth Vador (Cocktail) but I returned it due to the taste to acquire a Strong Island. Food wise my final decision came up with the Jamaican Grill I believe. This plate consisted of a 5 oz crab cake, steak and peppers(jerk sauce on top), aswell as refried beans and rice The meal was good but the crab cake had a little more shell than expected. Okay. So I don't use this app at all but this restaurant has me on here for the experience and service. This place is so amazing! I recommend this place to anyone with a love for seafood or just fine dining. My sever (jasmine) AND the food was out of this world, to the piont where I HAD to tell the manger about this magical night. I even finished my entire plate which I rarely do. Also if you love sweet potato then you'll love the sweet potato they have that's coated in brown sugar and walnuts. Its to die for. My mother loved it when I brought some for her. PS. It was my first time here and we got in jusybin time for the brunch buffet (about 25 a person). It is an impressive spread- everything you can think of from fresh made omelette and waffles to endless amounts of bacon, friend chicken, fajitas, collards.... you name it! The food was pretty good but the service was so slow. He was very sweet and friendly but everything from the drinks to getting the checks took forever. Honestly I have been to Jasper's many times and yes it can be busy but it's all about the good food and the ambiance. I went two Sundays ago at around 1pm and of course there was a 45 minute wait. I can't even be mad that many people had the same thought I did. But it was worth the wait my favorite is always the omelette bar. Those guys are back there burning really quickly and the food always taste good. The brunch buffet is where you need to be. All the food is good but if you going during brunch why bother ordering off the regular menu when you can sample some of everything. With brunch you can get a la carte mimosas or bloody's, i opted for the bloody. My order was promptly ready and the transaction was very smooth. This was my first time trying the Buffalo Chicken salad. The chicken was cooked well and was crispy. The tortillas in it are a nice touch. I loved the House dressing (it contained blue cheese) that paired well with the salad. Went to Jaspers on Thursday and had food and drinks. Went outside only to find out my car was broken into window smashed, tire flatten. Police was already on the scene as if they knew what was going on. I spent a lot of money in this restaurant only to have to spend more after. It's really a shame that people can't go out get a celebration meal. This was very low down and disgusting. Taking my belongings that had no value other that my Eyeglasses is sickening. Ooh la la! This place can be a hit or miss from what I hear. I visited Jasper's recently on 10-9-17. Before my visit I hadn't been to Jasper's in over 5 years but I'm glad I went ahead to try it out again. When my babe and I walked in we were greeted and only waited a few seconds before being escorted to our seat. Once seated we notice a lot of people around the bar area and many tables with drinks so of course I assumed it's happy hour. Our waiter came within 7 minutes and she was super nice in explaining the happy hour menu and answering any questions we had. We started with appetizers that consisted of fried calamari and their crab and shrimp dip (see pics it's to die for) I absolutely LOVE the crab/shrimp dip. For our main meals we both ordered the spicy seafood explosion with a side of collard greens and that was amazingly tasty and filling. Overall I would definitely recommend this place for dinner and even their happy hour. During their happy hour they offer premium drinks at reasonable discounted pricing along with discounted appetizers...you can't go wrong with that :-) I will definitely be back soon. read more
