So this was a pretty interesting place. Now the first thing that happened was that I was told that I could sit at the bar if I didn't want to wait the 20 minutes it was going to take to get a table. They probably could have added that the bar was busy. It took me two seconds to discover that the bar was not my best option. No big deal I just would put my name on the wait list. I went to sit down in the waiting area only to find that the police were using the waiting area as a holding area for an undesirable while they waited for him to be transported. That proved fairly amusing after I was invited to sit down by the very nice police officer. Unfortunately my presence my his life slightly more difficult. The undesirable was apparently quite intrigued with me and made several attempts to attract my attention. The guy was quite harmless just drunk and outspoken. The police officer was very polite and kept redirecting his attention away from me. This place sends you a text when your table is ready, but Beware I had no signal and so I couldn't get a text, a slight flaw in thief system. Once I got to my table, I waited and waited and waited some more. I wax thrilled when I saw a group of people get seated on the next table over. After 30 minutes a waiter showed up and apologized that he hadn't noticed me. So I immediately placed my order. A White Sangria, a bowl of their famous lobster bisque and fish tacos. The waiter returned shortly explaining that he had placed my drink order but didn't know when it would be ready. He reconfirmed my food order and asked if I wanted water. He came back with the water and asked if I would like bread. Another 20 minutes later he showed up again and asked if everything was Ok. No, I haven't received anything yet. He then asked again if I wanted bread. I said I would love my bread and the bisque, as I was starving. 10 minutes later he showed up with bread. He then came right back to tell me that my order was coming soon because it was next on the monitor. Again I waited. I watched Lobster bisque get delivered to another table that ordered food long after me, and I continued to wait. Even the ladies on the other table got their food. Then I finally got the soup and the tacos all at once. I devoured it. The bisque and the tacos were excellent, but then again I was starving. The waiter showed back up and apologized, so I asked for my bill and explained that I never received the sangria. The waiter appeared completely shocked and then explained that this was his first server job. The experience was terrible, apart from the very amusing drunk in the waiting area. Crab cake sandwich, cole slaw, and asparagus (I'm tired of fries) On a 10-scale, I'mma go with a stronngg 8. The crab cake was moist and I didn't detect any filler. I probably should have eaten it without the fixings. The aoli didn't do anything for me. Kinda tasted like buffalo sauce honestly. I took one but of the cole slaw and that was enough. It lacked flavor. The asparagus was rocking, though! Perfectly steamed with butter and garlic. I'd order this meal again but I'd remove the fixings and cole slaw. I almost forgot! I've heard of Jasper's for years, but this is my first time ever trying it. My 3 friends and I came on what appeared to be a pretty popular time (Sunday afternoon). We were told there was an hour wait, and they do not except reservations. We decided to stick around and wait, and thankfully a table was ready in 25 mins. My entree & dessert was very tasty. The appetizer (spinach dip) was just OK. The waiter was very nice and it did not take long for our food to arrive. This place could be a chill, "better than t.g.i. friday's" spot but keep your food options simple. The pasta is an entree that seems to hit the spot though. I personally like the lettuce wraps. Don't go to Jaspers looking for a grand time, it's a chill spot/bar.. Somewhere to grab a drink and a small bite on a boring night where you just want to get out of the house. This place gets 3 starts simply because I always get this same waitress, light skinned woman, a little heavy with freckles and she is SO nasty. She ruins my experience every time, the very few times that I've been there. I'm an easy customer, and very polite so I don't understand her treatment.. This was my first and last time eating at Jaspers. I'm praying that God releases my people from the chokehold this place has them in. Is it the bland Mac and cheese? Is it the badly mixed drinks? He had such a great energy to him despite us sending back dish after dish. We heard that the place usually plays good music which would have helped the vibe. When we went there was no music playing. Decided to give jaspers another try with a close friend of mine. We stopped by for drinks and some food! The drinks were strong! I ordered the crab dip to start which came with chips and bread. The crab dip was delicious. The bread was a bit too soft for the dip, it would have been better if the bread was a bit on the crunchy side. For my entree, i ordered the fried chicken with Mac and cheese and fries. The chicken and fries were pretty good but the Mac and cheese was off! I'm not sure, but it was very bland, it tasted like macaroni and flour. I definitely will not be ordering that again. My friend who is very picky when it comes to food enjoyed her Asian salmon teriyaki. Overall, food is okay, the drinks are good and the customer service is good as well! read more

Jaspers is a cute little vibe where yu can get dressed for a nice date night or go out with the girlss. The drinks are strong so thats a plus Our food is was very unseasoned. The mac n cheese is horrible. The crab dip taste like cream cheese no crab meat. The fried chicken had no seasoning at all. The ribs were good. And the mashed potatoes was good. Wait service was initially attentive then went missing in action. They sport an impressive amount of liquid libations, including Cocktails, beers and wines that go from cheap to expensive. The biscuits and honey butter you get to start your meal are exceptional, but the food goes downhill from there. I had a Jambalaya that was substandard and an insult to any southerner (like myself) who knows what a good Jambalaya should taste like. Wifey had 3 sides and was only impressed with the Hush Puppies. She didn't care for the collards or the mashed she ordered. The food here is horrible. The spinach artichoke dip taste like paste. The vegetable pocket has no seasoning and the honey mustard didn't pair well with either. Not to mention, it wasn't a pocket. It was served on rubbery flat beead. The red beans and rice had no season. The french fries are old and over cooked. The hush puppies taste like donuts. The ice tea is watered down. All the food just lacked season and flavor. You must have to have an alcoholic drink first in order to eat the food here. This place needs to be on Kitchen Nightmares. Where do I even start with this review. The 2.5hrs I spent at Jasper's was quite eventful. The 1st thing I experienced was trying to find the place. Easy to see? Yes but all the sign said was "sp", why would they not have that fixed?! We drove around twice just to make sure it was Jasper's. I proceeded to find a seat at the bar but the whole place was PACKED. Almost felt like a club for a minute. I ended up having to sit in the waiting area for about 15 mins for a small table. While waiting, I watched a server have an intense encounter with a customer, it was a mess & very unprofessional. The security, police & manager if he/she was even there just stood there watching like everyone else. Once seated, I people watched for about 15 mins waiting for the server. What stood out to me is that no one seemed to be able to finish or even drink their drinks, which just really tickled me. Would you rather pay for alcohol or watered down drinks? If the drinks are "too strong" then maybe you shouldn't be drinking. 1st I ordered the Bone Crusher w/light ice. Looking at my glass compared to other photos, I got less because I didn't want a watered down drink, how ironic. It had a nice little kick but wasn't as strong as expected just left me thirsty. After asking 3 times, Craig finally brought me a water. He then suggested the Cajun Jambalaya out of the 3 listed. Let me tell you, I should've sent it back. The rice wasn't even cooked all the way, the veggies were still crunchy (should be sautéed), the bread was HARD...the meal was simply not good. Should've got the tiger wings my Lyft driver suggested. Luckily, I was able to wait another 15 mins for my mega LIT w/Cranberry juice to be made & sipped on that while I forced myself to eat. Was the LIT strong? Yes, like it's suppose to be! I should've just ordered 2 of those & would've been fine. Ultimately, will I come back? Yes, but ONLY for drinks. I've lived and driven by Jasper's numerous times. It felt like another theme family restaurant, that wasn't corporatized. For my birthday dinner, we decided to give it a try. We read the reviews, and knew the clientele well. In pre-COVID days, it was a raucous place with a varied level of service and safety. But, we ordered take out and were very satisfied. I had the full rack of ribs entrée, with mac-n-cheese, and Spinach Artichoke dip appetizer. The Ribs were great, a little charred, which was fine with me. But, the meat and sauce were tasty and tender-sweet. The mac-n-cheese was nothing to yell about. But, also it wasn't terrible. The Spinach Artichoke dip was good and served with tortilla restaurant chips, along with nice, soft table bread. She had the stuffed crab explosion, and crab dip appetizer. I loved it all. Stopped in for lunch in between doctors' appointments. The lobster bisque/ crab cake lunch special is where it's at. They don't skimp on the lobster and the crabcake was delicious. My previous review was in reference to a rude server. I am now not satisfied with the customer service provided by the managers, namely Miquel. I was in Jaspers on 5/5/22 and called back to the restaurant on 5/6/22 and was promised a resolution within 1 day. It's now 5/13/22, 7 days later and I STILL haven't heard from manager Miquel. The food was good, but not good enough for this kind of mistreatment. I have a PodCast, His Mama, Her Son, on Spotify, Google, and Anchor and we will definitely be putting Jasper's on blast! Today I ordered pick up #14186775 and WAS quite pleased with the fluidity and timeliness BUT as I wasn't the one passing out the food, when I got up and checked on my grandbaby, she did not have the brownie stated with the burger nor her root beer. We all now know that you CANNOT get a call into Jaspers for ANY reason. That itself makes me want to give you all a 1* If you cannot answer phones due to ANYTHING, I suggest you upgrade your establishments parameters to include a full time admin in the back (or off premises) that can help handle the calls that come in. If you don't take reservations SAY it, not press 1 just to say you don't, if you don't take curbside SAY IT, not press some other number JUST to say it. To be the restaurant you want to be and could be, you have so many administrative short comings and you have been around for a long time. You gotta do better on your phone side. It's ridiculous. But back to my baby not getting her complete meal. What you gonna do?? And you all do see I Yelp (not OUR first time). I'd love to raise those stars today, but nope because your customer service sucks. Real talk, it should be an all around establishment, not just at at the tables. Jaspers is always a great go-to spot for food, drinks, and fun. I'm so glad this place is open for dine-in. I love the wings with the spicy tiger sauce! They cook the wings perfectly every time. It would be nice to patronize black owned restaurants but why do they all have the same problems (insert Keith Lee). The service is always slow and inattentive with limited options but that is not the worst part. Whoever is in charge of basic things like the hostess stand and putting names on a list should be fired. The wait list is so simple but apparently taking names and moving them around to allow people to arrive is too much for the system to handle. It is not that hard and some basic professional decorum should be the standard but never at places in the DMV. Why do we have to settle for such bad service? I ate here twice in about 2 months.. I thought I just got lucky the first time-- my meal was really good. But the 2nd time; the steak and shrimp with peppers, onions, and black beans and rice was Excellent! Steak cooked medium to my request, so tender and flavorful that I did'nt need steak sauce. The peppers were fresh and there were lots of shrimp. Both times I have eaten at the bar and have not been disappointed with the drinks or the food. The crowd is HH mid 30's to 40's, older and mature. It's probably one of the best places to eat in this location, because there aren't a lot of restaurant options on this side of town. read more
