So, this is my second time in the area and I have always heard about Jaspers but never made my way there the first time around. One day we bit the bullet and said lets try this place. This place is pretty big and I am curious with the setup if Jaspers was another type of "entertainment" establishment where more than the drinks would be shaking. Well, a quick search answered my question, and it once was once the BET Soundstage where they filmed videos of Uncut. IYKYK. I am not sure of that last part about Uncut actually. What I do know is that Jaspers is well worth a return. From the looks this place stays busy and a definite local spot for some. Service was pretty good and it is no different than many places where some are doing more than others and so glad we had someone who was focused and answered our questions. I started off with a drink called the Darth Vader. It is strong but not to the point where you taste just alcohol. I highly recommend the Chino Latino Rolls. I wish they had some avocado lime crema to go with it but this app was good with the sour cream. The appetizer came out hot and was not waiting under some heat lamp. I went with the bacon cheeseburger at a medium rare. This place has a very good burger, and it was better than some places that charge way more. Put this place in for top burgers in the DMV. No complaints and this is a good place to checkout. It took me a minute to get here but glad I did finally. A second visit is a must for me.
I went to Jasper's on a Friday afternoon with a friend and this place was PACKED. This is definitely a popular spot but honestly, I can see why. The food was sooo good, especially the tiger wings. Those were easily the highlight for me. Everything came out flavorful and fresh. The atmosphere was lively and felt like the perfect place to catch up with friends over good food and drinks. Even with how busy it was, I still enjoyed my experience and would definitely come back to try more things on the menu.
I was surprised! Pleasantly. There were so many people here at 1pm in the afternoon on a weekday. All they needed was a dj and live band and you would think you were at a day party. Service was phenomenal. Refills came without asking. Food was good and filling. The lunch fried chicken salad. You can tell the chicken the oil was in was fresh. I ate every bite. Definitely a place to socialize. Akin to a cheers bar. Parking available. Not expensive.
Located in an area that has plentiful parking, a drive up area for to go orders, Jaspers seems to have something for everyone. Reservations are not needed but it'd be wise to coordinate if you will have a party of six or larger. This allows the correct number of servers to be assigned to your group in advance to manage things. Plenty of TVs if you want to just come watch an event and have a meal. There is a bar here and the drinks were good on my visit. Happy hour starts at 4p and there are food and drink specials available. We arrived earlier than happy hour but the portions and drink options were good to go. I went with the chicken and shrimp Alfredo with broccoli. It was enough for my appetite and needed just a pinch of salt and pepper. Our server was getting her steps in. She was attentive and made sure to balance time between us and her other tables. The food and drink orders came out right but the food could have been warmer. Booth, table and bar seating is available. Payments can be made via cash or credit card and no additional fee if using card. There were no surprise fees when the bill came. I would come back here to experience happy hour or the brunch buffet they have on Sundays.
I am only speaking to their Sunday Brunch. I love that they have so many options. I just wish there was more flavor in those options. This is my 4th time here and it's been the same so I like their consistency and because they're consistent I believe it to be intentional. I will say that there is often an older crowd here which to me, makes total sense of why the food isn't packed with a whole lot of flavor and salt. I would just appreciate if there were just a little bit more. Just enough that I would be able to add a little bit of salt and pepper to it and make it perfect. And if I'm being completely honest, the only thing that is lacking in flavor are the meats. Everything else I think tastes great. The vibe is good. The music is sometimes too loud to have a decent conversation with your table when there are also other tables having conversation but that seems to be the norm for brunch. Personally, I think they should turn the music down a bit everywhere because we're not there for the DJ, we're there for the food and to fellowship with our peeps and the DJ/music is an added bonus not the main attraction.
Visiting from San Francisco, my man suggested we come here to satisfy my seafood cravings. From the outside, this place looks massive, and it definitely lives up to its size inside. It's the perfect spot to eat and watch sports--TVs everywhere, all showing sports. My kind of place! The wait wasn't long, and with the AC blasting, I had no problem waiting. Our server was Paula, who had great energy and patiently dealt with our silly antics. The menu had me second-guessing what I wanted to order. For appetizers, we went with the fried salmon sticks and the super combo, which included wings, chino egg rolls, and chicken fingers. If you can't handle spicy like me, stay away from the chino egg rolls--those chicken pieces were on fire! My man would probably disagree, though. The wings were fantastic, and the chicken fingers with that orange sauce were absolutely delicious! The appetizers arrived and disappeared in less than five minutes. I really enjoyed the salmon sticks--something I'd never imagined trying before. For our entrees, I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of jumbo lump crab cake. My husband went with the spicy shrimp and chicken pasta. By the time our food arrived, we were both already overwhelmed--plus, the portions were huge. We couldn't believe how big the plates were. We knew we were going to need to-go boxes. The grits were just the way I like them, and the shrimp added an extra level of flavor that elevated the dish entirely. I would definitely visit again and probably overdo it once more. This place is a winner!
Update: Unfortunately I need to change my stellar rating of a 4 to a 1 due to service. I have been visiting Jasper's on a Saturday for the past few month and ordering the delicious Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich. Unfortunately, today, the manager Alfonso Saldana, refused to allow me to order the sandwich. I completely understand that policies change. Unfortunately, he stated that this has never been allowed and he would have to charge me for a Salmon BLT that costs $19.75 as opposed to the $15.00 chicken sandwich. His statement is contrary to my experience and I didn't appreciate his acting as though I was not being honest. Well, I won't be returning there for lunch on a Saturday. Thank you, Alfonso!
Oh my goodness this place in Maryland was great! It looks like a theatre sound like a club, food is like a restaurant! Taken back at first when I arrived to police cars outside but it's all for safety late at night. The chicken wings and drinks were the favorite in the crowd. The bridal sprouts were a bit burnt but now I know what to get. Service not that friendly but we say at the bar cause it was busy. The private booths and big screen give it all the vibe!!! Music was great as well.
I recently placed a curbside order from Jaspers in Largo, MD, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. As soon as I picked up the bag, there was a very strong rancid smell that followed us all the way home. When I got home and hecked the items, we discovered the odor was coming from the chicken thighs, which smelled spoiled. I immediately called the restaurant and drove back. Although the staff did allow me to exchange the item, I was told the smell "could be the grease," which didn't match my expectations at all. In addition to that, when I started eating my turkey burger, I found hair in the food. At that point, it was clear the quality control and food handling were not where they should be. This was definitely not the experience I expected, and it left me very hesitant to order from Jaspers again.
Met a coworker here after work and we just sat at the bar but there was amble seating all across the restaurant for both small and large parties! The bartenders were all very friendly and all worked great together when one got busy to help make sure we always got anything we needed. Overall the staff was very friendly and so were all of the patrons! We struck up many great conversations with people all through the night as I feel the atmosphere of the whole restaurant creates a very welcoming and friendly environment! We got some items off their appetizer and entree menu and everything was delicious! We spoke with the bartender on some suggestions and both of them were exactly what we were looking for. The food was hot, fresh, and flavorful! The portions were also very large and filling! We wanted to order more items from the menu from what we saw others ordered at the bar but we were too full and said we would definitely have to come back next time for sure! Overall it was a great experience! The drinks were tasty & strong, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was phenomenal! I look forward to going back anytime I'm in the area!
Paula! Is the bomb! My husband and I dined here on a Saturday afternoon. We were in town for the Commanders game and this is a go to spot for us rather it be for lunch or a pregame meal. This time we sat near the bar where there was open seating. Our waitress, Paula was serving everywhere and was on point! Always a good time here. Drinks and food hit every time. Don't ever change :) Plenty of parking!
At a convention at the Harbor with coworkers and when the subject of dinner came up Jasper's was suggested!! We were seated at a bar booth and our drink orders were taken upon being seated. Our server Sudan was Phenomenal!!! He is Great at what he does. He should be at the bar serving drinks and talking people up for real!!! Food menu is on point. The seafood options are dominating this menu and offer some delicious dishes like the salmon bites, crab egg rolls and tiger shrimp!!! The sangria was good in both versions. Everyone enjoyed their food and we left with some to go boxes! When we pulled up the location felt familiar to me but I couldn't put my finger on it. But then it hit me that'd I'd been here before. But when it was called something else. I realized that Jasper's used to BET Soundstage . The BET Soundstage was a great place in its day. My favorite dish then was their red snapper. I recommend Jasper's for happy hour and for a special night out. Ask for Sudan!!
Love coming here for the goblet drinks and the jumbo Mott's sticks. Reliable place to watch the game socialize esp if ya grown! Food not always my favorite- but I think that they have a solid happy hour. Service is solid depending on the day but I do love the spacious area. Gets super full sometimes though!

Carly was phenomenal!!! Best customer service I've had in a while. She was beautifully pleasant, prompt, courteous, and anticipatory of our needs. The tiger wings were fried well and a fine balance of sweet and spicy. The bread sinfully fresh, soft and satisfying. It was my first time ordering the fish tacos. At first it seemed they were heavy on filler but the flavors were tasty, even if I could have used more fish. This spot is always jumping so they must be doing something right. read more

Update - I went back last night 12/18/2019 and sat at the bar! John is a great server and provided amazing customer service. The tiger shrimp and wings were delicious. The crab meat and shrimp cocktail is my favorite! I like Wednesday's at Jasper's. Happy hour goes all night at the bar. I live and work in Northern Virginia so I love getting out to enjoy places that aren't predominately white! I have been so excited about going to a place people I know go to and enjoy! Last night, I checked out happy hour at Jasper's. Major plus: plenty of parking ! Additionally, it's easy to find off the highway. This place seems to be staple among folks who live and work in Prince George's County. I met a few folks from the the Facebook social group DMV Does and we took up 3 high top tables near the bar. The service was ok. It was nothing to rave about and it took some time for my food to come out. I ordered three Georgia Peach.,They were not strong but hit the spot. I had the tiger wings and enjoyed them so much that I ordered another order. I requested all flats but the restaurant wasn't able to provide all flats. I also had the Spicy crab and shrimp cocktail and that was pretty decent. It was very spicy. It could of used a little more seasoni It's not a five star or upscale restaurant so do not go in with those expectations . If you are looking for a casual and predominately black venue to watch the game, people watch, and just chill, this place is awesome! Jaspers is the Cheers in PG County. Where everybody knows your name. Great local spot for good consistency with food orders. I usually go for the bar scene where their drinks are strong, but still good. I did curbside this time. The wait staff came immediately out with my food and I was glad I didn't have to wait long. The establishment seem to have a great turnout because it was packed on a Monday night. I hear it gets even better around the weekends. 2.5 stars. I loved Jaspers in Greenbelt but that place is a memory. I grabbed a bite to eat with my friend. Parking was tight. We were immediately seated by the host... he place us in a noisy spot. We tried to tune them but it was hard. Can you believe we were ignored for like 10 to 15 minutes? Servers by passed us then finally we flagged someone down who basically was like somewhat bothered. She took our drink orders and apps . She said shell find our who our server was. 10 minutes later.. total of 25 min later we get our drinks. Our waiter makes a grand appearance. He said he didn't know we were here. Interesting. He takes our order and disappears. Then appears with rolls... He come back and says the cook messed up our order and it will be another 10 minutes. Barely any old bay on my wings. My crab dip was cold and barely any tortilla chips. So I sat there unhappy. My friends burger was pink on the inside... it didnt look med well. This was my second attempt at trying this place. It's very popular so the wait times to be seat are extremely long. It was definitely worth the wait. Our server was super friendly and fast! I have frequented jaspers since coming back to the area from college twenty years ago. It's a local favorite. The drinks are always good and strong and the bartenders are personable and engaging. On most days there is a pretty good crowd there. The food is decent. Not the best and not the worst but the drinks and energy make up for it. My advice would be keep the food simple and keep the drinks coming. Chicken tenders are really good. Burgers and fries are really good. read more

This restaurant was recommended by a co-worker and I have finally visited here last Sunday for brunch buffer and it did not disappoint! They have an omelette station with chef that cook for you, fajita station, breakfast food such as waffle, french toast, bacon and they also have a section for dessert and fruits! Everything tastes good, the set up was neat and sanitary. The servers are really nice and accommodating! I love the ambiance of this place. The Sunday brunch could get really busy though so plan to go early! They open at 10:00am, we made sure to go before they open and even before 10am there was already a line. And that's when you know the food is really good! The brunch buffet was $26 and includes drinks such as coffee, juices and soda. Alcoholic drinks are additional and it starts at $4 which is not bad at all. There's also plenty of parking! Overall, this place is highly recommended and I will be coming back! read more

We've gone multiple times and we love bringing people here. I'd skip their crab cakes, their fried/boiled seafood platters and their grits. We thought this was a buffet. It's a very nice establishment but the food is mediocre. They did have some good options tho. Like the don julio marg and the side car did what they were suppose to do and the tacos, baby them tacos were food truck worthy The caribbean something was good as well ( all these are on the drink menu ) I ordered the blackened salmon caesar salad with extra caesar. The salmon isn't spicy at all and it comes with a chopped up boiled egg and tomato. I liked it! My sisters and friend ordered what was left in the pictures and the only thing that wasn't liked was the crab explosion, it seemed undercooked compared to someone else's at the table and the mash. The mash seemed boxed. For the table we ordered the crab dip with chips and bread; it was very mediocre, under seasoned... so don't bother. The fish tacos are A1, honestly I'd just ask for four. Nothing special. We don't plan on going back. It's just very basic. The pasta was very dry. The chicken was good tho. The steak was okay. The desert on the other had was really good. But doesn't justify me going back especially for the price. The food doesn't match the price. The waiter was nice and all so no complaints there. The restaurant is a little musty and the table was sticky. Overall cleanliness could be better and the smell walking past the restrooms was not very appetizing. read more

So like many of the other places i have reviewed, I ventured to this spot due to some friends recommendations. I have now been twice and I keep going on game days meaning it's fairly busy. I love the atmosphere very bar/restaurant type vibe. The bar area feels like a bar and the areas outside the bar very much feel like a restaurant. The first time I went there were about 10 of us 5 showed up at one time then another 5 later and they allowed us to grab two booths back to back to keep us close together. I appreciated that. I ordered a burger and mac & cheese with an LIT (Long Island Iced Tea). The burger was good, the LIT was better but the mac & cheese was a slight disappointment. If you've read my other reviews this is an important menu item for me. None the less our waiter was fantastic I wish I remembered his name. The second time around I sat at the bar with a friend had a good experience with the bar staff! They were charismatic, quick, and a polite to talk to. There was a shorter woman with dreads working and a taller man with short dreads (I believe). They were both outstanding. We had a few more friends show up and we finally got seated at our table. Devonte is the reason for 3 stars vs 4 or 5 stars. His customer service was bare minimum almost to the point where I thought he was avoiding eye contact and our table altogether. I think our bill came out in total to be around $200 after ordering a few drinks, shots, and meals . My friend tipped him before he should have and we had to track him down every time after that. After being frustrated I finally asked for his name to make sure I included it here and could get his attention even through other waiters. I will be back because 3/4 waiters have been nothing far from amazing but I will avoid Devonte's section. read more

The service was amazing and they are practicing great COVID precautions as well. I can only imagine how live this place was pre-COVID. So let's go down the line up: Crab egg rolls- They were amazing, it is like a mixture of crab dip and a crab cake combined into a crispy egg roll. 10/10 Spicy Tiger Wings- my husband attempted to act like they were just "okay" ... until I tasted them and I knew he was a complete fraud. Perfect crunch and sauce for the wings. 10/10 Spicy chicken & shrimp pasta- it was good but it is one of those pasta dishes that taste better the next day with reheating. 8/10 Jambalaya over rice: this was also a good dish. The color was a little off to me (personal issue unbeknownst to Jaspers... past life trauma). The taste was pretty good. Honorable mentions- the bread and side salad. 8/10 read more

My daughter and BFF wanted Jasper's for lunch before returning to school So as a bonus I was invited I hadn't been in a while but noticed they still observed social distancing and are cleaning between guest ... The wife & I come to Jasper's when we're in town, we always have a good time but it's just 2 of us at them times. But last night we're all in town for the Cowboys vs Commanders Game/ friends Birthday dinner. We couldn't make reservations for a party of 12, they don't do reservations. So we all had to just show up. Let me set the scene for you (boom) we get to Jasper's at 7:30pm 11 of us and check in. Sets scene: (Birthday Crew consist of; School Teachers, Pharmacist, Human Resource Manger, a Soldier, a Paralegal & Manufacturing Spvr, ICU Nurse, Paralegal, let alone Birthday Girl is a DELTA & beloved school counselor. 35 & over crew) 1 of the friends came a little earlier to check in, so we had 2 waiting to be called for seating orders. Off top the the hostess/ or people up front try to deter us from waiting, talking about it's gonna be a long wait. We like it's cool we go to bar & get some drinks since the waiting area was full already. While we at bar we see a whole area their not using at all (take note of that) so we get drinks & chill then we see 1 big party go in for seating, that cleared the waiting area out. We go back to sit down & chill. So we noticed that big party was seated in the open area we were talking about earlier plus it was more room over there. The birthday girl go check on our seating after about hour 15 minutes later & 1 of the hostess just walked away from her while she was talking to her. (Take note of that) We almost went to Outback Steakhouse due to that but "Birthday Girl" wanted to stay. So around 9:30 they come to us and tell us they have to split the party of 12 up in 6 & 6. We agreed so we could get in we're all starving. Didn't like it but we agreed thinking we would be seated near each other. When we get seated they tell us 1 group will be here & the other group will be on other side of restaurant, that didn't fly. As we're sitting the Birthday Girl ask for the manager, so the manager came & the disrespectful hostess stayed for the conversation. That's when the Birthday Girl a.k.a. Delta read that hostess in front of the manager. Told him about them trying to split our party of 12 up, the long wait & the hostess walking away from her while she was inquiring about our table. All this was new to him, he ended up seating us in the same area I said earlier that was empty & just right for a big party of patrons to sit. 9:45pm we ordering Appetizers, Drinks & Entree's. Waiter seemed good look like as we ordered he was compartmentalizing the orders, he was not. After eating we're waiting for checks, he came back around and asked who had what. Cool, getting it in order, then said he gotta get with manager to break orders down. 30 mins later he come back with receipts they're correct but dang 30 minutes! All in all don't do "big parties " there, big restaurant but no ready for big parties. There's more ppl working the door than serving food. You don't need 5 ppl at front door. All that restaurant there use it all. They updated the Men's bathroom. Great job it was needed. We don't feel enough was done about rude worker or the extreme wait time. They could of at least brought a birthday slice out for the birthday girl for that long wait. Just show empathy. When it's needed. Great food, great drinks & good music. We couldn't really enjoy the vibe of the music this time due to the long waiting, it really changed our mood. We suppose to went to DC to a Hookah lounge after dinner, but after leaving dinner it was 11:45pm, we spent over 4hrs there. Some of us went back to the hotel & some kept the party going. Jasper's is always a time because their bartenders know how to pour! I'm huge fan for their Blackened Salmon & Grits and also their Shrimp and Grits. Also their prices are still very affordable.
