    Pancake side of egg breakfast

This place is solid. Had the steak and eggs. High quality skirt steak. Center cut. Cooked perfectly with 4 sunny side up eggs. And pancakes.

Stopped by to get lunch while pup is getting groomed at PetSmart because I haven't been to a diner in a while... and had about 1.5 hours to spend It's a typical older Glenview building, and I am guessing early 1980s, that had been remodeled from what I am guessing used to be an IHOP or Dennys. It has ample parking, so that's a plus, and almost Dennys level prices at avg $15. The menu is otherwise fairly extensive but lacks added protein options aside from occasional chicken for $4 on SOME of the salads. Annoyingly, their salmon is only offered on a bed of basic greens, and they'll only add it for $8 (not on the menu) on another salad. WTF The salmon on a bed of greens is $11.99 Per Tavo (the manager), this is to discourage customer customization. Offering a reasonable upcharge on a protein seems to be a foreign concept. What a questionable business practice. Setting a single price for the addition of protein to a salad is a huge ask? It's really interesting. I'll stick to normal places from now on. I ordered the Mediterranean with Chicken for $15.99 and the grilling seems like it was done last night. The waiter insists it was warm when he brought it over, another freaking liar. Wow

At least they are consistent. Compared to my last review of Jaspers, nothing has really changed. There are big plastic covered holes in the ceiling over the register, the service was consistently good, and the atmosphere overall is open diner. The food is unfortunately also consistent. The omelette had a chunk of American cheese shoved in the fold of it but not across the entire omelette, the hash browns were cold and flavorless still, and the pancakes were still the highlight. The price has gone up since the last time but that is expected. Maybe I will try it again in 6 more months. I really want this place to be good.

Jasper's is a phenomenal restaurant located in Glenview. They have an expansive breakfast menu along with options for lunch. The portions here are large, and the menu is well priced overall. Most of the breakfast items also include a side of hash-browns/fruit and pancakes. My favorite dishes are the Spanish Omelette and North Shore Skillet. Moreover, the service here is also always great. The waiters are friendly and come to the table often. The food also comes out fairly quickly. The restaurant is packed often as it is a popular place for many people for brunch.

Jasper the friendly cafe. I came here with the gang and the food was good. I ordered the Meaty skillet, which had Ham, Sausage and Bacon. It was topped with melted Cheddar and Monterrey Jack Cheese. I also ordered the matzo ball soup and the broth was somewhat too salty for my taste, but the matzo ball soaked up the sodium well. Overall, OK meal. BATHROOM REVIEW: Decent bathroom, with plenty of urinals and a decently hung toilet. There were double-sinks and overall, decent. Sit or squat? Squat.

Decent old school diner for breakfast and lunch. Best selling point is the huge portions. Huge and slightly overcooked feta, spinach, and ham omelette with hashbrowns and toast and 4 large gluten free pancakes per serving were both good and what you expect from this type of diner. Not fancy, but filling.

Good breakfast spot overall. Better to dine in than take-out, serves big portions of food but not very flavorful.

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with a warm, cozy atmosphere. It feels upscale without being pretentious, which made it a great place for a special occasion. Our server was friendly and helpful, so we asked for recommendations and ended up ordering a variety of dishes to share. We started with the Sweet Corn Hummus, which came with their complimentary pita bread. The pita was phenomenal! It isn't your typical plain pita you find at most Mediterranean restaurants. It has a delicious seasoning that makes it incredibly flavorful, and paired perfectly with the sweet corn hummus. We also tried the Moroccan Onion Dip. It has a slightly sweet flavor with noticeable cardamom notes. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Next time, I'll probably order the popular spicy whipped feta instead. One of our favorite dishes of the night was the Hamachi & Charred Avocado. It was light, fresh, and packed with flavor. Every bite was delicious. We also shared the Brussels Sprouts & Honeycrisp Apple Salad. The dressing was fresh and flavorful, but I realized I'm just not a fan of raw Brussels sprouts. The texture was a little too tough for my liking. That's on me--I should have asked beforehand if they were served raw. I think I'd enjoy it much more if the sprouts were roasted, so I probably wouldn't order this one again. For our hot mezze, we chose the Sweet Potato Latkes. They were very tasty with great flavor, although they were just a little on the greasy side. For our entrées, we ordered the Faroe Islands Salmon and the Shawarma-Spiced Skirt Steak Frites. The salmon kebabs over rice were my favorite dish of the evening. They were perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and something I'd absolutely order again. The skirt steak had great flavor as well. Although we requested medium, it came out closer to medium-rare. Thankfully, I'd rather have it slightly under than overcooked. The only disappointment on the plate was the fries--they tasted dry, almost like they had been refried instead of served fresh. The highlight of the meal, however, was dessert. The Triple Chocolate Torte was absolutely incredible. It wasn't overly sweet, the chocolate mousse was smooth and creamy, and the cake itself was rich, velvety, and decadent without being heavy. It was the perfect ending to the meal. And as part of the birthday celebration they served us frozen yogurt with sumac strawberry sauce which was so delicious. Overall, we had a fantastic birthday dinner. While there were a couple of dishes I probably wouldn't order again, the excellent service, inviting atmosphere, and several standout dishes made for a memorable experience. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

The vegan waffle was generously sized and made fresh in the kitchen. It had the perfect texture--a little crispy on the outside, yet warm and chewy on the inside. There was just a hint of sweetness, so I hardly needed any maple syrup. The decor is very cool--I absolutely love the color scheme! Even the restroom was charming. When I walked in, I noticed a sign on the wall that said, "Hello Beautiful." Although it's a small detail, I also appreciated that the trash bin was placed directly beneath the paper towel dispenser and right next to the door. It's those thoughtful little touches that make a difference. I can't wait to come back and try more of their vegan options!

The list goes on and on, these flavors are so unique and I can't believe that I can find them all under one roof. I had to try the carrot cake pancakes, and they truly tasted like carrot cake. Our server Miriam was awesome with our orders, she came by to check on us and not too many times, and was there to help us with leftovers and leaving stuff. She struck a nice balance of not being there vs being here too often, so that's Ace's in my book. Since it was Mother's Day, it's crowded and a bit loud but not too loud where it was too obnoxious, except for a few people who had no manners at all on dress, but that's another topic I won't go to, for now. Tables, plates and silverware were clean, and one can still get around, even with one table behind us with a handicapped person, it didn't crowd up much at all - it was all very reasonably spacious. Definitely will come back here, though I do miss that older lady who was our server the last time before today, who was very nice - had a bit of an attitude to her personality but not too much to make it tasteless, some sass makes for an interesting day. My dad had an office and n Glenview when I was younger and this place was there and he had never heard of it. I guess if you were local or took the Metra, then you knew. I made a reservation as there were twelve of us coming in. We arrive for our monthly Burger Club with high hopes. It's a cute place. They have a nice outdoor deck area and the inside has a nice wooden bar with tables around it with two or three additional rooms of seating, too. We asked for separate checks, and our server told us it was no problem (it was). They have a lot of burgers to choose from so we thought that this would be a great place to go. I'll say this, our server was wonderful. Super nice, really friendly, always refilling drinks. Just a wonderful experience with her. And that's where it ends. My burger came our perfectly prepared (they ask what temperature you want and I wanted medium rare). The patties are insanely thin and toppings, while fresh, are overly abundant. Fresh lettuce, tasty pickles, etc. the burger had no flavor. No salt or pepper to season it or anything. And mine was the best of the group. Others received burgers that were overcooked, had the wrong buns, came with caramelized onions, but were raw -were sent back and came back raw again - and the sides were underwhelming. I don't like ketchup, so I asked for ranch and it was thick and had a funky flavor to it. Then bills came and they were all wrong. She had mixed up every bill. Thankfully most burgers cost the same, but drinks and some side upgrades don't. We will never go back here. I have no idea how they stay in business.

I've never been a huge fan of the indoor dining area either, and I usually opt to sit at the bar if I can. The staff is very kind. They have an excellent burger. It's always cooked right and I love the bun. I add avocado to mine. The fries are great too, and always the perfect amount of crispy. I consistently used to order their Turkey Club, but at some point in the past few years, they switched from fresh cut turkey to deli turkey. It's not nearly as good anymore for that reason, and not worth ordering. The only Glenview restaurants I know of that still use fresh turkey in their sandwiches are Hackney's and Meier's Tavern. Also, their Guinness pours can be questionable depending on who's pouring. Nowadays, when I go to Grandpa's, I only ever order the Chicken Kabobs. They are absolutely delicious! If you like medium spice, I advise you to ask for them cajun-style. They are best this way! The kabobs come served over rice with the most juicy oven roasted tomatoes, and this addicting peanut sauce on the side. I pour it over the whole thing. It is a must-try and no doubt the best thing on their menu. Highly recommend Grandpa's food, as most things on the menu are enjoyable. They also have Merkt's Cheese!
