People of Yelp, I'm gonna be honest with you. The Turkey Supreme changed my life. I'll back up: Nestled quietly on the main street of an affluent, white Chicago suburb sits Country Kitchen. An old school diner with old school vibes. No subway tile, no designer aprons, no fusion, no attitude. It's not trendy. It's not an experience. It's just diner and deli food. And it's great. I ate there for the first time recently, and loved every second of my visit. I ordered the Turkey Supreme with curly fries. I didn't know what to expect. Soon enough, it was delivered. I took my first bite, and I wept like a baby. Not becuase I was sad, but because i knew- in that very moment- that my life had changed forever. That time would be measured as BTS (Before Turkey Supreme) and ATS (After Turkey Supreme). I am not in year 0 ATS of my life, and I am happy knowing that I have the rest of my life to enjoy more Turkey Supremes at Country Kitchen. Our booth hat a little plaque at it (picture below). I'd say Joel really has life figured out. And I'd be willing to bet that, to Joel, eating "well" meant eating a Turkey Supreme at Country Kitchen every week.

I love this place! Very townie but food is spot on great! They only serve breakfast and lunch but if you're hungry for either, I'd def come here!

Chocolate chip pancakes rolled, with whipped cream on top, and two sides of bacon, crispy. An absolute guilty pleasure!

There are a number of reasons why Country Kitchen is always busy -- friendly and fast customer service, engaging and energetic ambience, delicious and plentiful food, and ample parking. The same family has owned the restaurant since the beginning and they still provide the same service and product since I was a child decades ago. I'm convinced the plates and coffee cups are the same ones as well! :-) While everybody I've come here with as had something different and it always looks great, I've never strayed from my exact same order. I'm not even ashamed to say it! Crepe style chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream on top, and two sides of crispy bacon! I'm sure everything my family and friends have eaten is quite good, but I can only attest that my chocolate chip pancakes and bacon are beyond quite good!! The bottomless coffee cup is usually good enough, and juices are squeezed fresh and they're delicious.

4 stars and that is all I am saying.

Food tastes as old as the place! Service is decent but would not recommend especially since there are better much better places in the Area!

This place should be exempt from any Yelp review, including this one, as it is (again) in the private domain, not public. Well, how much you ask, is 'membership' - correction there also, that well publicized on Ravinia's website under 'benefactor levels'. No specifics given here as that is not the purpose of this review. Therefore it is my assumption that any previous trashy reviews, should be given the reader attention they should - that being, less than none. Less than favorable reviews more than likely came from bitchy benefactors guests, not the benefactor(s) themselves, who more than likely picked up the tab for dinner, that made it possible for their ignorant barbarian 'guests' who amazingly learned to spell and dine with a fork and knife without dragging their knuckles, to write this garbage. The elegance of the room is understated, you can feel a warm vibe once you walk in This is the place for civilized dining, pre or post concert, whether the CSO or Pitbull is playing The front end is conducted by Debbie, while the staff performs in unison, just like an orchestra. You would think that an hour and half of dining time would have been enough for three courses. Nope, concert started before we were finished. We had the same waiter as the last visit and though friendly enough we had to ask him to take our order then don't know if it was his fault or the kitchen's but the time it took for the food to come was just too long. I started with the mushroom soup which was good. Nice and hot. Hubby had the strawberry arugula salad. He gave me a taste and it was also very good. My chicken though was tough, rubbery and completely overcooked. I thought it practically inedible. Hubby ate it for me. I didn't taste them but those that had the halibut and the Cobb salad were satisfied with there choices. I must say, the salad looked really good and I would suggest ordering that. For dessert hubby and I split the dutch apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. It was okay but not exceptional. We were also late at that point so we were just rushing to get going and get to our seats. They had some computer problems so they had to take our credit card numbers to be run later. Promise of an email confirmation never arrived. Given the lack of service and unremarkable food they are overpriced.

I have been excited about the addition of Bean Bar to our neighborhood in downtown Northbrook for a…read morewhile.  We finally had a chance to visit together before we went to the Art in the Park the Saturday of the Mother's Day weekend!  It totally justified all the hype! Given it was a Saturday, there was an annual art fair in the Village Green close by, and the Mother's Day weekend, we expected it to be very busy, and it was justifiable so.  There was a rather long line placing orders at the cashier, but it moved quickly.  There were many laminated menus for us to read while waiting in line.  The cashier was friendly, patient, and helpful in answering questions.  Our daughter ordered an Avocado Toast and a Berry Zen Refresher.  My husband and I found that a good idea, and each of us also ordered an Avocado Toast, although I had hoped that I got different types of dishes to photograph, lol.  Husband had a Cappuccino, and I had a large Iced Pistachio Latte (oat milk).  This simple brunch came up to $77.34 with tip, and it's worth it. All 3 Avocado Toasts were perfectly made.  All the ingredients were very fresh, although there wasn't a lot of seasoning, the taste of each ingredient worked well together to achieve a delicious dish.  I especially liked the over easy egg and the crispy edges of the warm toast.  My Iced Pistachio Latte was very good without being too sweet. Although the food and drinks were the star, the ambiance was so pleasing and relaxed that totally elevated the entire experience.  The dining room with high ceiling and chandeliers was spacious and beautiful.  There were many different types of seating for patrons -- big comfy couches, regular tables, high-tops, small booths, conference rooms with long table and chairs, small private rooms... not to mention about the large sheltered patio with many tables and seats!  As I have mentioned, we went at a busy time, there were not a lot of tables left for dining purposes, we opted for a high-top.  Even though the venue was almost filled to capacity, it still felt very airy and comfortable.  I could just chill there happily for half a day with my latte! However, there were small hiccups that fortunately did not ruin our first experience there.  My husband's and daughter's drink came out almost instantly after we sat down, but I had to chase down a staff (there's no servers except for the staff who delivered the dishes or cleaned tables) to tell him that my drink was missing.  I told him that it's supposed to be cold but with no ice.  He immediately got me a Pistachio Latte but with ice.  The cashier lady had specified no ice on when she placed the order for me, I talked to her about this and she offered to make me a new one, but I had already had a sip and didn't want to put the drink to waste, so I just kept it.  I later scooped out all the ice so that it did not dilute my drink, and it was good.  I must mention that the food came out in just 5 minutes even though the place was busy. Our high-top table wobbled when we used our knives and forks to cut the toasts, not a very big deal, but the restaurant could easily have that fixed as I am pointing it out now, It's one of the high-tops under the BB sign. This brunch kicked off a very happy Mother's Day weekend.  I was in a very good mood going to the art fair from Bean Bar.  We will definitely return to try the many other items on their menu.

I love the brick walls, high ceilings, and the wide variety of seating areas - both indoor and out. Staff here is wonderful, very friendly with top-notch service. Bean Bar is the perfect place for both personal and work gatherings... or to just hang out by yourself.

Knotty pine on the walls and fish mounts every direction that you look. I started with an Old Fashion that checked the box, and the famed Shrimp Cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was five large shrimp that were firm in texture and clearly fresh. The cocktail sauce tasted like it was from a bottle, it wasn't terrible, but certainly not made in house. The burger was straightforward and the beef was high quality but it desperately needs seasoning (salt and pepper for goodness sake). I ordered my burger with Swiss cheese, that probably wasn't the right choice, American would've been better. The grilled onions were cooked well, but again just a sprinkle of salt would elevate the burger. The bacon was crispy, which was welcomed because the rest of the burger experience was just - meh. My tab was $48 and some change, which isn't terrible in today's economy, however, I've had $48 meals elsewhere that were head and shoulders above. It was clear that this is a long standing tradition in the area, but the food taste is stuck in the past.
