This was such a cute restaurant and the people were so nice! We had the Lox cream cheese and avocado toast with smoked salmon. The salmon was hard to bite in some places because of the texture of the salmon that was placed on the toast. The chorizo breakfast burrito was excellent. It was stuffed and everything tasted great. This is a basic breakfast place to get your fixings of eggs for a lazy morning. I liked my order which consisted of scrambled eggs with toast and fruit. I also tried the jamaica juice. The juice was too sweet for me so I had to add water to it and the bread could have been paired well with some butter or jam. The avocado toast had overripe avocado so it was not the freshest. It's not bad for a quick cheap breakfast. Service was fairly quick and the inside has plenty of tables as well as outside. read more

YIKES - with such high reviews of this newer Latin cafe, we had high hopes. We came here in the morning, and we were excited to try out their beverages and some of their items from the pastry case - we ordered: +a churro donut - where's the cinnamon? this was just a sugar crusted bread-y donut that was cold, flavorless, super dry, and inedible; this was tossed +a poblano/cheese scone - this was not even warmed up, and it was just a rock of 'bread' - no taste of cheese or the spiciness from the peppers; this was tossed +a latte with almond milk - not sure what kind of coffee they use, but this was lukewarm, extremely weak, and was unenjoyable +a Mexican hot chocolate - this was awful; seemed to be made from a generic packet of artificial-ness; in addition, the mug that it was served didn't seem to be washed, as it had a 'saliva/spit' odor to it - gross! None of the items we had ordered tasted like how they were described or were supposed to be. While the cafe itself is cute and cozy, and I loved their shelves of various figurines and collectibles that you could purchase, the food/drinks were just not worth the money nor a visit. Incredible new coffee shop in Ravinia. Great coffee and absolutely delicious pastries. Can't wait to return and try some of their savory food as well. While this place is fairly new, it was packed early on a Saturday morning. I only wish there was more indoor seating so we could have dined there instead of taking our pastries to go. We stopped in to give this place a try for lunch. Menu had a variety of interesting choices. It wasn't overly busy as there was only one order of 4 people ahead of us. The staff was friendly and rang up our order, but the price you pay is more than what is reflected on the menu. No acknowledgement was made until we questioned. And, unfortunately, the kitchen service is super slow. Took 30 minutes for one sandwich and when it arrived, half the ingredients were missing. They did apologize, but I would really question what happens during a busy time. Also, had to ask for someone to fill up the water dispenser and when I visited the bathroom, no paper towels. There were multiple people coming in to pick up cupcakes and cakes, so maybe lunch just isn't their thing. read more

I had to supplement my review after this weekend. I stopped in Thursday to ask if they could squeeze in a last minute order for 24 donuts and a birthday cake for my daughter. They were so kind and able to take the order and have it done by Saturday afternoon and everything was just beautiful! Pink and purple sprinkle donuts and a gorgeous funfetti cake to make the birthday girl smile! Plus everything was delicious and held up overnight for our early Sunday party! I'll be ordering two more cakes this week for birthday parties next weekend-so happy to have this business in our neighborhood!! read more

We've been visiting Highland Park for many years, and searched high and low for a decent cup of coffee to wrap up our morning walks to the lake. With Mil Colibris, we finally found the place! Their lattes, made with high quality Columbian coffee, are absolutely the best we've had in the USA. A shout out to Paula, whose daily cheery smile topped off the experience. Mil Colibrís is a delightful, new place that has excellent pastries and coffee. I have had two kinds of scones there--peach and blueberry. Both have a delicious icing and are amongst the best I've ever eaten. They are bursting with fruit flavor and more moist than your usual variety. My friend, who has a gluten intolerance, had an amazing slice of corn, coconut cake and that was quite good as well. The owner is very welcoming. We sat outside and it was a great experience.
