The "beach" is made up of large white limestone rocks which can make it tricky to set up for the day, but this is what keeps most other people out. :) Bring your own shade as there are NO large trees or shaded picnic areas. A beach umbrella can be set up near the water and a pop-up shade tent can be set up-at a level picnic table. There is a small, brick-sided restroom house on the premises. The best part about this park? IT'S FREE! There is no fee for using the lake area or the boat ramp. But, shhhhh! Don't tell everyone. :)

The park also features rentable covered picnic pavilions, which serve as great gathering places for family reunions, company picnics and other get-togethers. In addition, there is a large playground and guests are permitted to ride horses on the premises. The only times I have been here are with Things Ones' troop to go camping. There are many sites for rent to go camping here. When camping, visitors may come into close contact with deer and other wildlife. This park appears to be catering to the children because they have a playground, then they have a creekbed that I see some children playing in, open fields that children can run around. I spotted some deer walking out in plain sight not bothered by the people. I ended up walking on the road where vehicles frequently passed me by. Not very safe, but I wanted to get some exercise in. It's in a cute part of Salado that looks old-timey. The park was within a residential area since there were houses inside the park grounds. It is maintained with cut grass and plenty of parking.

This sculpture garden is made up of beautiful and unique pieces that are created by artists living in Salado and other local community members in Temple and Marble Falls. There are small plaques in which you can read the name of sculpture and the name of the artist. On occasion, the installations do rotate so that other artists can have their turn to display their works of art (so you may not find some of the art that other fellow Yelp members have posted on your visit). The sculptures are also for sale for those that are interested, with prices marked between $5,000- 25,000. It is nice that you are welcomed to touch the sculptures and take as many photos as you wish with it. The garden itself is bigger than I was expecting with more sculpture art than I expected. Please note that parking is only on the road. There is no shade so consider bringing a hat if the sunshine bothers you. There are no restrooms (although you could just go to the plaza across the street and use the restrooms at the market). Worth a stop if you are visiting this area.

One time I jumped in the water at Lady Bird Lake, and I got morbidly ill for days and could not get out of bed. I would highly not recommend getting in the water there. That being said, Lake Georgetown is quite different and it would seem that the water is pretty clean there. It probably goes without saying it is much less crowded than Lake Austin/Travis or anything near downtown, and it has plenty of space for picnicking, camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Usually I will go running around Lake Georgetown because it is much less crowded than Lake Austin, and there are shorter routes depending how far you want to run. I guess the one thing I will say is that the trails to "hike" or walk around the lake are not as established as some other hiking trails I've been on, so just be prepared for that and maybe don't wear short shorts if you're going to try any hikes around the lake.

My 18-month-old hasn't been mouthing stuff as much lately so we gave it a go. He did OK but eventually did put a pebble in his mouth. The pebbles are also tricky to walk on. They get really hot so water shoes or sandals help. The pebbles will then inevitably get inside your shoes and annoy your feet. Bathrooms were reasonably clean. Pretty large parking area. $5 day use fee. Paying was a bit awkward since we had to scan a QR code, park and pay, and then go show the guy that we paid. Don't know if this is temporary due to some malfunction. Cool having a beach option relatively close, even if it's not sand. I believe there may be some hiking and camping at this particular park as well but I only came here for the beach.
