    Nice views.

This place is solid! It's cool how they have trails near the water and you can get some elevation gainz. Little far from Austin, but definitely worth it. ‍

rain or shine, its an open space with access to hiking and trails alongside the waters edge. Bring your boat because there's access! Wildlife Is in abundance and the probability is high that you'll spot or come in contact with deer. In our short time here, we spotted no less than 10 deer up and down the road. Oh! And bathroom access

    The view up top! Gorgeous!

There's a pretty short trail going up Dana Peak. Wish it was longer but it's still a beautiful view up top! There's trails for mountain biking so that's pretty neat. So far it's the nicest view I've seen out here! A definite must go!

Great place for off roading and have a great time. Love this place. There are many trails to do, they even have categories based on how hard they are. They have a huge range at the entrance. It's a really good place to go

I've been to Dana Peak Park a few times and it really is one of the best days you can spend a day outside in this area. I have it four stars simply because in the area I'm talking about, the parking is very limited and there are no water or restroom facilities. In the larger part of the park (past the pay gate) there are restrooms and picnic areas as well as a boat ramp. When you enter the park off of Comanche Gap Road, you will see the entrance gate. If you drive through this gate, it will cost you $4. However, if you park at the small parking area before the gate, you will not be required to pay a fee to enter. This area is approximately 2.4 miles from the turn onto Comanche Gap from FM 2410. We spent an afternoon here recently and hiked for an hour but didn't see even a fraction of the trails. Biking is allowed but vehicles such a motorcycles are not. You'll get plenty of hills (varying degrees of difficulty) to explore. Your canine friend will enjoy the trip as well. There are even some places you could let them off the leash if you were so inclined. ;)

With all the storms we've been getting lately I'm glad to see it being translated into something positive. The lake has definitely risen since my last visit here. The rocky shores and sandy muddy beach was patched over by water. I really appreciate that active military gets in free and that they do a very good job of keeping the place clean. We've been having a BBQ once a month for our soldiers while at the same time docking some volunteer hours picking up recyclables and dangerous objects such as broken bottles around the lake. The best time to come on Saturdays is before nine before it gets too hot and before the crowds show up.

A nice park for camping. Large sites with 30 and 50 amp electric and water hookups for RVs. There are no sewer hookups but there is a conveniently located dump station. There are also several tent sites that also have water and electricity available. All of the sites are close to the lake and offer great views. There are other amenities for picnics, boating, swimming, etc. and there are hiking trails. The biggest draw back is the lack of mature trees for shade. The park is run by the Army Corp of Engineers and the price is definitely right.

Came here with my 11 year old & we both had a great time exploring the trials. It's a nice park with great views & scenery.

This is a nice and big park, you can do a lot of activities including staying for camping, fishing, mountain biking, ride your boats, bring your RV's, BBQ, etc. This place is Perfect to bring your family, dogs or love ones and I guarantee that you will have a good time.

My husband and i really enjoyed camping here. The price was right. Enjoyed being next to the water. Spent the entire weekend there. It was very quiet. The deer walked around in the evening. The staff was pretty friendly. (Only downside was battling the fire ant hills)

Ask the Community - Dana Peak Park

Is there a spot I can take my dog to swim here? I heard no dogs allowed in he designated swimming area but is there another spot?

You can go around the lake to Chalk Ridge Falls Park- there are easy trails that you can walk on and find a few different places along the river that are great to swim in. Just make sure your dog is on a leash!

How much does it cost to get in?

I believe someone said 4$ but there's parking before the pay gate as well if you wanted to walk wherever you're going.

Is there somewhere to swim here?

    Yes the lake

Do you have to pay to get in/for parking?

    Yes

Asking personal questions like where do you live? Where do you work? Or even a small group standing on the middle of the sidewalk creating a chokepoint to force direct engagement. I know it takes courage and guts to approach a woman but ganging up on a woman making her feel uncomfortable is a, NO! There was a group of white males this summer (2025) peacocking in a family park with women and children, running with their shirts off. It's TX and the summers are brutally, hot but I have never seen men out there like that and approaching women inappropriately with their shirts off. That new sun will burn the skin off your back & chest without proper covering. They definitely were not US Army or military. Additionally, there is also a school aged little white boy on a scooter middle school aged out there with those men & women in the of the middle of the school day out taking photos and following. Seems like some kind of gang or scheme to monitor women & possibly harm or take advantage of women & young girls. Group of men and women posted in vehicles and in the park watching & lurking & following. They stage strategically and use the kid on the scooter as well to track & monitor. Just be careful, just got weirdo vibes out in the park over the last several months. I know the park can be a space to meet people but this gives off creep vibes and predators. I don't want to be driven off from my community park that I love, but I no longer feel safe. Find alternative locations to workout or walk your dog. BE SAFE! Get some bear or pepper spray!

BEST shelter and park we have been to yet. We are extremely impressed! We rented shelter #5, it overlooks the lake and is across the way from the bathrooms, huge plus (I love camping, but don't hover well haha). The restrooms were so so, nothing special, but better than peeing behind a tree. Same goes for the showers, nothing special, but I loved that they were private, offered hot water, and had a little sink in the stall. The shelter itself was amazing! We have never been to a park where the shelters have tarps to cover the screened areas. You can tie them up or lock them down, perfect for privacy or blocking out the wind on cold nights. We also brought a lock to lock the shelter while we were away, but with multiple gates to get to the shelters we felt very safe. We came in late and left early, so we unfortunately did not get a chance to interact with the park host or other employees. But they were very friendly and helpful when I called asking for information. Overall I am very impressed, I don't think I can express that any more clearly. We will definitely be back and are already looking at our calendar! We need to get our canoe out here!
