This park appears to be catering to the children because they have a playground, then they have a creekbed that I see some children playing in, open fields that children can run around. I spotted some deer walking out in plain sight not bothered by the people. I ended up walking on the road where vehicles frequently passed me by. Not very safe, but I wanted to get some exercise in. It's in a cute part of Salado that looks old-timey. The park was within a residential area since there were houses inside the park grounds. It is maintained with cut grass and plenty of parking.

The outdoor space consists of a baseball field, plenty of parking spots, activities for the chilens to play, grass, and trees. Nothing more, nothing less. I had to create my own path of a trail by scaling up and down the parking lot. Park maintenance does a good job of keeping the place clean. They are out every morning picking up trash and debris. The park is sandwiched between a house on the right and mobile homes on the left. Don't expect too much from this park. Very basic and minimalist if that's your thing. If you are looking for more, Killeen or Georgetown has parks with walking trails.

It is also dog friendly. Pretty much dirt trails, so after rains, it can get muddy, but we are in Texas, so that only happens occasionally. You can get several miles in on the various trails. Others are friendly and willing to point you in the right direction. I've been here a couple of times now and enjoyed both times. I do recommend hiking with someone else in case of emergencies. You never know when you might come across a snake, so be safe!

The art varies -- some pieces I appreciated while others, not so much. Such is the art experience. No matter what, I really enjoyed strolling through this sculpture garden. It was easy to find a parking spot right outside. Also, we were the only visitors at the time (Sunday, early afternoon). I recommend this sculpture park -- it's a very quick but pleasant stop while visiting Salado.

It's a historical area that also has a butterfly garden with various flowers. There were countless monarch butterflies here on our visit. The park is pretty small and will take maybe 20 minutes to look at but it's nice to see a part of history. Take the extra time to go to the historical society nearby.

This is a great park for many outdoor activities. There is a trail around the park for walking,…read morewhich is about 50% shaded and is just under a mile. There is a nice-sized children's play area, and there are two baseball fields for local games. The facilities in this park are up-to-date and clean. There is only one restroom building along the trail. Doggie bag stations and trash cans line the trail but there are no drinking fountains. There is ample parking for any day of the week. Overall, you will find this park to be less crowded than some of the other area parks.
