I honestly don't know where to begin because this was the most bizarre pedicure experience I've ever had.
During the service, the technician started rubbing an orange on my legs. A few minutes later, she pulled out what looked like an actual cheese grater and attempted to use it on my toes. I immediately asked her to stop.
The experience only got stranger from there. I was given a massage with dry latex gloves--no lotion or oil whatsoever--which was uncomfortable instead of relaxing. Then she used extremely hot stones by tapping them on my legs. They were so hot that she was holding them with a washcloth, but continued touching my skin with them. I told her they were too hot and to stop that as well. Again, no lotion or oil, just dry scalding hot stones.
The strangeness continued when the technician poured wax from a very small candle down my leg. It was so hot that it hurt, and I couldn't understand why it was being done because it added no moisture or relaxation to the session. The polish job was rushed, smeared and nails left uneven.
A pedicure is supposed to be relaxing, but this experience was stressful, uncomfortable, and honestly bizarre. I've never experienced anything remotely like this, and I left feeling shocked rather than pampered. read more
