Curry chicken, fried plantains, and mac and cheese.
Robert M.

I ordered Jammin Island BBQ from DoorDash as I was craving Caribbean food. The jerk chicken meal came with a choice of 2 sides, and for under $20, it was especially attractive. It came with 2 legs, a potato, and a carrot. The curry sauce had a nice kick to it, and the chicken was falling off the bone. The plantains were huge pieces, with a slight crisp around the edges. The mac and cheese was decent.

Oxtail Stew, Collard Greens, White Rice

My standards for collard greens and oxtails are high ! I was visiting the area and craving some so I took the chance and ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised :) Considering the amount of reviews and the fact that it was in the middle of the mall The oxtail and greens were not only seasoned well, but also very tender Next time i wanna try the curry !

You have to try the ribs! It's some of the best Jamaican style ribs around the area. The meat falls off the bones and the sauce is perfectly spiced. Unfortunately they serve the ribs only on the weekends The guys behind the counter are pretty friendly and fast. It's in the mall food court and on the weekends it can be challenging to find a table.

You will find this Jamaican food spot in the Springfield Town Center food court, on the upper level near Macy's. Being that it is in a mall's food court, you have two things, tons of parking and more than ample dining room seating. The guy working the front counter was vey nice friendly and courteous and helpful. You can place your order order at a small kiosk at the end of the counter or you can place it directly at the register. They serve Caribbean favs such as jerk chicken, cabbage, Jerk ribs, jerk salmon, plantains, and a jerk burger. I got the Jerk chicken with a side of cabbage and plantains. The food is already made, so they just had to make my plate. It took them less than 5 minutes to have my meal ready. I don't know if I can say it was the best Caribbean food, but it was pretty good. The chicken was a bit cool, but had lots of flavor. The plantains were juicy, with some crispy parts, just like I like them. They were very tasty. The cabbage was pretty good too. This is a decent spot to get your Jamaican food fix and do some shopping as well. I really enjoyed my meal and am sure that you will too.

I reviewed this cereal spot at Springfield mall a month or two ago. While in the mall I noticed this Caribbean eatery in their food court (Eateries ALWAYS catch my attention). I took note to go back, & give them a shot!! So today...this is where I'm at!! . Where I am: @jamminislandbbq . Location Reviewed: 6731 Franconia-Springfield Pkwy., Springfield V.A. . Menu Includes: Brown Stew, Jerk, & Filipino Chicken, Jerk Ribs, Salmon, & Shrimp, Oxtail, Mahi Mahi, Rice & Peas, Yams, Greens, Mac n Cheese, Yuca, Plantains, Beverages, & MORE!! . Jerk Chicken and Fried Plantains

Stopped in for a quick bite, and wanted to try something else in the area. So glad we stumbled across this place. We got the jerk chicken, rice&peas, and fried plantain with some fries to share. Everything was super hot and fresh, the jerk chicken was soo juicy! They are fast with the service so we were able to order, grab our food within 5-7 minutes.

I had a negative experience at their newly opened location and the owner never bothered to speak with me about it or make things right despite good faith efforts to reach him. My order was cancelled after already confirming with their staff that the order would be made. Then they cancelled it saying the items were out of stock after waiting an hour. How is that even possible? I guess you don't cook the food or check until the dasher arrives? I am appalled at the way the owner treated the situation by ultimately deciding not to make things right. I left messages and made good faith attempts to contact the owner to ask if I could discuss my experience. He decided to call me once during a time when I said I wasn't available (which I told their staff to inform the owner) and when I tried to contact him at the agreed upon time he didn't respond. The most shocking part is that the manager told me the owner is ultimately not going to address the experience due to a negative Google review I posted. Reviews are supposed to be honest experiences of customers and not be held or used against the customer in an effort to make a bad experience right. With Jamaican breeze, they do NOT care about the customer experience and take reviews too personally, which is alarming. This is unprofessional and disappointing and not at all how you attract or retain customers. For the prices they charge it's not worth your time, money, or the hassle to deal with poor service such as this. I would NOT recommend if you want reliable, cheaper, better value, and tastier Jamaican food go check out Jammin Island BBQ in Springfield they have never disappointed.

The restaurant clearly has high customer traffic, so I hope the food is good enough to justify the excessive wait. However, the lack of communication, urgency, and any attempt to compensate for the delay made the overall service experience extremely disappointing. Food satisfaction: Pending.

And while I was tempted to order one of everything, it was just lunch after all so I settled on their ahhhhmazing Oxtail Bowl. I subbed pelau for the coconut rice and wow...just this layer itself would have made an excellent meal and I would happily eat a bowl of just pelau! But of course I had to dive into the succulent, fall-off-the-bone oxtails, too.
