Didn't think anything of it because i like to support local restaurants snd was happy to give money to them. However, I thought it was weird that their delivery was $10. Proceeded anyway. Only to find out 45 mins later thay my driver got there and said they didnt have the order bc their system isnt set up or fufu. My driver said she hates working with them bc they always make you wait. I asked for pounded yams as a substitute. They said they dont sell that there. Even though its on their website. They said theyd give me jolly rice for free too. When my order finally arrived I didnt get my meat pie, ir the jolly rice.. Lastly food is not great. Beef and fish were dry. Everything had a weird taste. Waste of $38. Especially, because it shouldve only been like $25 Extremely disappointed.

I said hello to get his attention and placed the order again, he scratched his head and tuned back into the conversation behind me... I left and placed my ordered online from my car at 1:10P. The order received text said my order would be ready at 1:40P. I ran an errand and returned at 1:50P. A different cashier from the firsr said the order would be ten (10) minutes. I asked why and he said it takes twenty (20) minutes to make... I questioned the time as I placed the order at 1:10P and he simply said "Yes, it will be ten minutes more." I asked if the order could be canceled and he said it could not... I left. An hour for takeaway is crazy. Best of luck if you try it.

Seating is available with a few small tables, as well as a bar area where I sat at. I'm not familiar with Eritrean food and I was quite impressed. *Breakfast Balance: This whole thing is very comforting. You get fu'ul which is a hearty bean stew, kitcha fitfit which is small bread pieces cooked up with other flavors, and scrambled eggs. Comes with a side of small baguette which was really tasty. *Qulwa Lamb: This is a really nice tomato-based lamb stew that is not too salty or greasy, it's just right. It normally comes with side of injera - we asked them to substitute with white rice which they were happy to do. There's also salad included. The vibes here are chill, portion sizes generous, flavors are really balanced. I'm super impressed. I just wish the restaurant were larger because it can get very busy during peak hours with the limited seating space.

It seems like overall Eritrean food has a similar sour spicy profile which I enjoy. I look forward to coming back to eat their enjera fitfit and try their lentil or minestrone soup. The place was homey, service was good though we could have used more water refills! Overall my favorites are the: - kitcha fitfit (cooked dough with spices, I noticed some folks put honey on it) - qlwa beef with spinach (nice tomato sauce with spices) - egg silsa (nice egg with spices)

I don't have a lot of African experience, so I was instantly intrigued. After a morning of exploring the Prince William Forest, we came here for a good lunch. As a guy who's not well versed in the cuisine, I asked for advice, and I was lead in the right direction. I can't seem to find the exact menu item, but I know it the main focal point was that jollof rice. Man, the flavors in that rice were very new to me, and very delicious. Lots of good heat, but not spicy at all. You gotta try it. Also on my place was some sort of meat, some sort of delicious fish on the bone, a nice hard boiled egg, and some sweet plantains. Along with a small salad. Good meat, good sauce. Love eating meat off the bone, adds so much good flavor. Just a really nice meal. I also got some Sweet Plantain Balls (Caclo) as an app. These things were amazing! I usually don't like plantains, But these were very soft, coated in a tangy, umami powder, again a new thing for me. Overall, I very much enjoyed this place. If you're ever in Dumfries, VA, I would highly recommend you stop by, as this was the best food I had the whole time I was in town!

The suya here might've looked tough but it was so juicy, tender, and not salty. The red stew with oxtail and jollof were nice but salty. I've had better jollof. 3/5 stars My…read moreboyfriend is Cameroonian and we love trying different African restaurants around the DC area. I'd heard great things about The Continent, so it felt like a must-try especially since Swahili Village is one of our go-to favorites for comparison. The space itself was great, nice interior, well-decorated, and service was solid throughout. They also had two distinct vibes going: one side had a bit of a DJ/lounge energy, while the other was more elegant and laid-back, better for actual dinner conversation. We sat on the calmer side. Drinks were good. We had a sangria and a tequila-based cocktail, both solid. For appetizers, we got the shrimp and the beef samosas. Unfortunately, the beef samosas just didn't hold up compared to Swahili Village's. I've had Swahili Village's beef samosas multiple times and they always come out hot, crispy, and consistent. These didn't quite match up, and that was strike one for me. The shrimp appetizer was nice, good sauce, though it could've used a bit more depth of flavor. I also ordered the pepper soup, which was excellent and genuinely spicy (more than I could really handle, but I still finished it). For entrées, my boyfriend got the Suya with jollof rice, and I got the red snapper with jollof rice as well. He really enjoyed his. The beef was cooked well and flavorful, and the jollof rice was good. My fish was also cooked nicely, though the sauce needed a bit more flavor. The bigger issue: they were out of plantains. That was strike two, and it stung more because it was my boyfriend's birthday dinner and plantains are his favorite. It's rare for an African or Caribbean restaurant to run out of them entirely. Overall, a decent experience, but with the high expectations going in, a couple of misses kept it from fully living up to the hype for us. I'd go back for the pepper soup and give it another shot, but I'm hoping for hotter, fresher samosas and actual plantains next time.

I didn't realize where the restaurant was located beforehand, so I was a little surprised when I arrived. It's in a very urban area, which may or may not matter depending on your comfort level. There was a decent amount of seating inside if you choose to dine in. The restaurant was okay in terms of cleanliness, but personally, I'd opt for takeout. I originally planned to eat inside but changed my mind once I got there. Unfortunately, the customer service wasn't the best. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, and when I received my order, the takeout container wasn't fully closed and was placed halfway into the bag. I'm not sure if it was just an oversight, but it didn't leave the best first impression. Now, the food, that's where they won me over. Everything was well-seasoned, and the suya had just the right amount of spice. They were out of the vegetable I originally wanted, but I'm actually glad I tried the corn because it was absolutely delicious. And that suya butter sauce? It was the star of the meal! Overall, while the location and customer service weren't my favorite, the food was flavorful enough that I'd come back if I were in the area and craving suya.
