I am not Ethiopian but I have visited this restaurant a few times and have heard and been recommended this restaurant by other Ethiopians who say that the food here is good & it is! I always have a great experience here and enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant with the big screens to watch sports. This is where I tried tere siga (raw meat) for the first time and had a pleasant experience that I can now say I know how to eat it. I have had their tere siga, goden tibs, kitfo, asa goulash, and regular tibs. All very flavorful and items I would come back to order again. Their coffee is also great and poured out of a jebena like how it is traditionally and should be made. Decided to order take-out from this place after my ethiopian friend made me kitfo. We've ordered out a few times now & have this place on daily rotation now! So far, we've tried -Awaze tibs: beef cubes sautéed with some veggies, spices. Very spicy! Beef was tender & was drowning in oily sauce. Too oily in my opinion but we loved the spice & flavor. -Geba Weta: tender meat sautéed with veggies, herbed butter, spices. My personal fave! Not spicy. The beef is beyond tender & the sautéed onions & jalapeños add great flavor & slight sweetness. -Kitfo: raw ground beef mixed with butter & spices. Ethiopian tartare if you will :) Also very spicy! We order this every time & absolutely love it. Don't forget to order extra injera for the leftovers. The portions are SUPER generous & good for 2-3 meals for hubby & I (& we both have hefty appetites!). Excited to try their other dishes & dine in! read more

Great service, servers are sincere and the energy vibe in here felt great. I wanted to really have this place be my new go-to because it's close by, and their veg-meat combo dish is an amazing deal. It is an amazing deal, but it fell a little short on the meat dishes. The lamb and beef meat were pretty tough and hard to eat. 5/5! Went here with a few friends of mine since we were craving Ethiopian food. Decided to give JD a try, since we've always passed it driving by. The Food: Unfortunately, I don't know the exact names of everything we ordered since my friend ordered it all. But, I can say that the quality and flavors for the meats and veggies were amazing! Flavorful and full of spices, the meats were tender and juicy. All of that cupped in some delicious injera was perfect. Portion sizes were good too! The Service: Service was amazing. Staff were very friendly with the ordering process and they brought our platter out in a timely manner. Check ups and water refills were consistent as well. The Atmosphere: Spacious with plenty of seating for small or big parties. Nicely decorated and clean. There's also a section for a live band as well, so be sure to look out for that if you like. The restaurant is a good, solid operation. It is fairly pretty, it sometimes offers entertainment, and the veggie food quality is very good at a fair price. (We haven't tried the meet dishes, though.) We have been to some 15 Ethiopian restaurants in this region over many, many years, and this is in the top half. read more

The food was very tasty and the service was spot on. The waitress took our order and explained our food in detail when we were served. We also had the delightful Ethiopian coffee after our meal, and it was beautifully presented. The only thing we were not crazy about was the smell of secondhand smoke. The waitress explained that there is a smoking lounge downstairs. If you are not asthmatic, then this should not be a problem. read more

This place is great! While I've never been to Ethiopia, I've traveled a lot in Europe, Africa & Asia, and this place is probably pretty close to what a good local restaurant and bar feels like. Anyway, we didn't know what to eat so we picked the Meat Combo, it was enough for 4-6 people. I can't rave enough about it. Meat served 3 different ways with other veggies and bread on the plate. This place serves the nastiest tasting Ethiopian food I've ever had. And I love the cuisine. I always judge a spot based on how well a simple vegetarian combo is prepared. Well the food I had left a lot to be desired. It lacked a lot of flavor. The miser wat and shiro was served cold. Some of the dishes I couldn't even identify, and they were nasty too. This is an authentic type Ethiopian restaurant, so you get the culture with it when eating the food or drinking the coffee. It's clean, with friendly service, and tasty. Injera was bland and as if it didn't have enough teff flour. This is a major no no if you can't even have authentic injera. And because of this bland teff, it unfortunately made the rest of their dishes salty since there wasn't a solid injera to balance the flavors. Looks like this place is the old Monarch that may have changed management or a rebrand. I went to monarch before and it was the same experience. Looks like other people like it so good for them. Nice, modern, and clean restaurant. They have a buffet too. Maybe the weekends. Prices were reasonable. Ordered a platter for two people and came with six dishes set on an injera. More than enough for two people to eat. Lots of patrons when we dined in a Sunday. Waitress was very friendly and helpful in making choices. Get the Ethiopian how honey wine with your food. My brother recommended this restaurant to me, and I took my family to try it. The restaurant was pleasant, and the staff greeted us warmly and we proceeded to order one of their dishes, awaze tibs. It was satisfactory, and my family enjoyed it when we finished and left after two hours. However, we began to feel unwell shortly thereafter. My wife and I experienced stomach aches, and my son developed similar symptoms the following day. I am writing this review to express my concerns about the awaze tibs dish and to urge the restaurant to address the issue before anyone else becomes sick. While the restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience and their other dishes are also of good quality, I believe that the awaze tibs should be improved before serving it to customers. read more
