Disclaimer, I am a Caribbean national living in the DMV and a true foodie. I saw their sign yesterday on my way to Old Town and had to give it a try the following day. The new location is spotless and has plenty of seating inside with a clean, no nonsense aesthetic. Old school reggae and dancehall pumps out steadily from the sound system and the staff are polite and friendly. They have delicious natural juices in the coolers and freshly baked patties which are light, flaky, juicy inside and full of flavor, as they should be. (I ordered two spicy beers) I ordered the jerk pork ribs and curry goat with a side of rice and peas ( with curry gravy on top of course). The curry goat was the best I've had in the area, the meat was fall off the bone tender and the curry had deep, rich flavor, I honestly felt like I was at home. Rice and peas were delicious with plenty of coconut milk in the mix. The jerk pork was a little more of a fusion between BBQ ribs and jerk pork as it had a BBQ glaze. I will say that the traditional jerk flavor was there but I felt like the sauce overpowered it a bit. It was still incredibly tender and my American partner enjoyed it. I think it can cater to less familiar palates well. Over all I'm overjoyed to have a proper Jamaican restaurant close by and I'd give them a solid B+ rating overall. I've had less tasty Jamaican food in the Caribbean and also slightly more authentic Jamaican food in the UK so go figure. 0 stars if I could. Extremely poor customer service. I usually support local and small businesses but my last experience left a horrible taste in my mouth. I ordered to go from here via DoorDash, and called the restaurant ahead of time to confirm the order. The lady who picked up confirmed my order and items. Then after waiting an hour, my dasher call me to tell me they were completely sold out of oxtail at 8pm on a weekday. They then cancelled my order after I waited so long. They didn't even check to see if they had oxtail when they confirmed the to go order apparently. I get that mistakes happen, but the way the owner and manager later handled this was completely unprofessional and is in line with the negative reviews of this place. I called the restaurant multiple times to try to contact the manager because that night I didn't end up eating since they cancelled my order and it was too late to get other food. The owner never responded despite texts and calls, ignored me and ultimately told his manager that he would not offer anything due to my review on Google. This felt very petty. Other reviews mention they run out of stock of things so seems like they have poor inventory control. As a first time customer who loves Jamaican food, I am genuinely shocked that this is how they treat customers. Manager was rude and it seems like they don't really care about customer service here. If they did they would have addressed the negative experience I had. Due to the lack of accountability, apology, and empathy from the owner I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. They do not seem open to feedback or improvement. Be warned if you order DoorDash or Uber Eats your order may be cancelled on you due to being sold out after you've already waited a long time. I cannot honestly recommend this place because regardless of the food, service also matters and I cannot endorse a business that would treat customers in this manner. This place is decent and convenient to the area with a small area for parking in front. I got the Brown Stew chicken with rice and peas, and plantain, which is not included in the meal and is considered an additional side if I recall correctly. I also got the homemade/storemade ginger beer (it is non-alcoholic); if you love ginger this is perfect but be forewarned it is very strong and ginger forward. With tax the total was about $25. This is the closest to authentic brown stew chicken I've had in the area, and the rice and peas was also good. Good portion size too. I will be back to try out some of the other dishes. I ordered 2 beef patties, jerk shrimp/peas&rice/plantain, curry chicken/peas&rice/plantain and a roti. I was not impressed, as someone of Caribbean descent. The curry chicken and rice&peas were good portions. The plantains were not sweet or soft. The patties are located on the counter top and after 20min I had to go up to the counter and ask for the patties, which they seemed to have forgotten about. The "jerk" shrimp was made with a spicy tomato based sauce, which isn't my understanding of jerk seasoning. The roti was hard and barely warm. I often visit this consortium of restaurants for food from a Pourto Rican restaurant; but, unfortunately I got sidetracked when I saw Jamaican food, Jamaican Breeze. The consortium as a whole offers takeout only. Jamaican Breeze's food was bland and the chicken was man-made. The chicken looked like ham-hocks. It was so unusual that I had to call the restaurant to determine what it was. They claimed that it was the way it was cut; but, it was not. It tasted unusual as well. The peas and rice had no taste either. This was disappointing since I did not go to my intended restaurant. It's hard finding good Jamaican food in the DMV. read more

I was craving some oxtails, so tried this place out based on reviews. It's a takeout/delivery app only type of place and I opted for delivery. There's a good selection of items on the menu to choose from. Everything was packed in a sturdy container and delivered in a sturdy paper bag. Though I'd normally want my items sectioned off a bit better because of the amount of liquid the oxtails were in, I didn't mind it too much since it was good. I really enjoyed the Mac and cheese, and the oxtails were big, tender, and flavorful. I got an extra serving, but I'm sure the portion size would have been great without that. Definitely hit the spot. I personally wasn't as much of a fan of the mixed veg since it's basically the frozen mix, but everything else was delicious. We ordered the curry goat, stew chicken, and jerk ribs. Sides included rice and peas, callalou, plantains, and cabbage. Pros: the food is really flavorful!! Everything was delicious and authentic. Cons: all the meats were cut crazy so there were tiny bones everywhere. I notice this with a lot of Jamaican restaurants, but this was particularly problematic. Almost a choking hazard. It was my first time visiting, and I am so impressed! The restaurant looks brand new, very clean, and spacious. The staff was also super friendly and welcoming.I ordered the curry chicken with mixed stir-fry veggies and callaloo (greens). The food portions were very generous, and the taste was AMAZING!!! It was incredibly flavorful and not overly spicy--just the perfect amount of kick. This place has really good food! Problem is that it is in a shared kitchen type of setup, and parking lot area is tricky (narrow, etc.). And for some reason the service fees are coming up to 14 dollars when we want it delivered. It's not that far from us. I've ordered from this restaurant multiple times normally order their lunch oxtail and lunch goat meat platter and it never disappoints.
