These people suck, my car has warranty on it and they "claimed" I passed it when I didn't. Charged me over $600 and then had my brother call and they tried to say some lie. Still in process of getting my money back. The guy I spoke to was Wally and he was so unprofessional and treated me different because I'm a lady, once he talked to my brother it was a whole different demeanor. Don't ever, ever go here for non-warranty work. I brought in my truck with very slow moving wiper blades. Most likely bound up linkage, which is common, but possibly the wiper motor itself. After agreeing to a $285 diagnostic charge, after a few hours they come tell me they need to replace the linkage AND the motor. The cost? $1,400. I asked "how do you know it's both the motor and the linkage that need to be replaced?" The service advisor had no idea, so he called in the tech. I then asked the tech if he tested the motor, or how he knew it was both parts. He says he just does both. Well, it's not his money so what does he care I guess. So what did I get for my diagnostic fee if they didn't even diagnose which part specifically was wrong? They hooked up the scanner (I struggle to think of what code would matter here but whatever) and then, get this, turned on the wipers and verified they were slow. Then hit me with $1,400. Meanwhile, while waiting for them to do this diagnostic, which they did out in the parking lot, I overhear someone from sales and an admin talking. I don't think they noticed I was sitting there. The topic of conversation was about a truck "he" had been leaving on the site just to lure people in and then sell them something else. Cool, cool, not shady at all. Anyways, I ordered the linkage for $129 shipped and replaced it in my driveway in 45min. 4 bolts and 1 nut, that's it. All fixed. read more

they will give you one price then when they give you the paper work its not the same. they say things like the bank did it or your trading is not worth what we though but the best line is that is a standard fee that every one has to pay. But what i really liked was the pricing. you can look at the same veh at other dealers and see little mark ups. I have no idea how they are still in business when it takes then three or four try to fix anything if you need anything but a oil change i would go some where else. thankfully they have not found a way to mess them up. I question the Service Department's ethics. I took my F-150 in for an oil change and to diagnose the cause of a check engine light that was on. They charged me about $285 to interpret the error. They then told me that I had to replace my entire fuel system, including the fuel rails (which almost never need replacement), and told me verbally it would cost over $4000. I took the truck to a local trusted mechanic and got the issue fixed for about $255. This is the kind of situation that makes people think car dealers are horrible. I've been a customer of James Ford for almost 30 years, and have bought many cars from them. I'm saddened by what appears to be a negative shift in culture. read more

Unscrupulous. Ordered a Mach E after a test drive in June 2021 and walked in to check on it in Dec 2021 after Ford notified it had been shipped. Found out it had been sold to another customer the past weekend who was willing to pay $7500 mark up. Was not even called when it arrived! I can't possibly convey how unprofessional, unresponsive, unhelpful, and down right mean the salespeople at James Ford are. Back in March, I worked with "Peter" to order a new Mustang Mach-E. I found out two weeks later by email from Ford that he placed the order incorrectly - eventually I chased him down by phone and he allegedly "fixed" the problem. Everything looked good - we waited 5 months, patiently tracking our Mach-E online as it was built and shipped. We even had a VIN number assigned! Finally, last Saturday, Ford notified me that the car had been delivered. I tried all weekend to call James Ford to find out when I could pick it up. Got the cold shoulder - no one could tell me anything. Finally, today I get an email from "Dee" saying he sold my car to someone else last Thursday! There's nothing they can do, but hey, they offered to order me another one for Full Price! It will only take another 5 months to arrive... I'm sure they sold my car for a $4000 mark up to pocket some quick commission. You know the worst part? No one even apologized. The people at James Ford are shady and incompetent - DO NOT do business with them! And please, if you are driving my Blue Mach-E Premium, please consider returning it? I had an appointment with James Ford to check out an F150. Sales woman Kelly was very responsive and helpful and had the vehicle waiting for me when I showed up. Turns out the vehicle was not what I wanted but the sales staff was very understanding and helpful. They refunded my deposit within a day. All in all a very good experience. read more

This is not a reputable dealership. They have shafted me both in the service department and in the new car sales department. The sad part is that I specifically went to them because I wanted to support local coastal businesses, but James Ford is not looking out for the best interests of the customer at all, instead they see us as marks to be taken advantage of. I took my car in for service and they charged me for 8 hours of road testing but the odometer was the same as when I took it in. I ordered the new Bronco from them in July 2020 and the sales manager was extremely unprofessional. He didn't know much about the program or feel like it was his job to learn. So much whining about why this was a hassle for him. After over a year of waiting, they tried to lock me into buying from them by converting my reservation to an order without ever telling me the final price of the vehicle or telling me what they were doing. Not until Ford Corporate sent me an automated email did I know what was going on. After many phone calls tracking down this sales guy, he said they would tell me the price after it comes in and explained that he has to charge a markup over MSRP (on an ordered vehicle!) because his sales team needs to be supported. I cancelled completely with them (which is probably what they wanted so they can steal the reservation and jack up the price even more when it comes in) and have ordered elsewhere. I should have taken the hint with the service department but now I'm still waiting for my Bronco after 2 1/2 years because of their super shady, greedy sales practices. Just terrible. Really unprofessional. I stopped by to inquire about a car at first the gentleman. the sales fleet manager. Made it seem like he was ready to make a deal when I asked for the car keys. He went inside and came back. Then he was speaking another tone. Seems like he didn't wanna sell me a car for whatever reason. Maybe because he thought I was Hispanic, he was trying to speak Spanish to me when I informed him that I'm not Spanish he change the tone. Really wishy-washy. The dealership was completely empty. They had no customers whatsoever now I see why. And to top it off, he was trying to tell me that it will be 9 to 10% finance charge. UPDATE: James Ford DESTROYED our vehicle. There was absolutely nothing wrong with our car before they touched it. However in a matter of a month of them working on it, 2 turbos were destroyed and the engine would not stop leaking oil. We spent over $5k trying to fix their mistakes and ended up having to buy a new car 5 months after our first review. This dealership is unethical, should not be working in vehicles and are criminals. We are looking into our legal options against them now! *** WORST PRICE GOUGING EVER. Charged $2k for a tune up on our 2013 Ford. Performed an inspection and said our water pump needed to be replaced along with the brakes to the tune of $6k. Nope! Multiple shops told us they were padding their estimate thousands of dollars in labor and parts. We will NEVER bring our Fords here again. I purchased a car from this dealership back in 2019. I decided to trade in the vehicle at a different dealership. I ended up finding out I am able to get a refund for the additional services that that I purchased. I have contacted them multiple time and have sent them documentation letting them know that I no longer have the vehicle and I keep getting the run around from MIKE at James ford and it been over two weeks since I first contacted them. Brought my 2016 mustang in for a free oil change. The word puddle was used to describe the extent of a leak in my car in the estimate notes. Charged 250 for a pressure test. Estimate from this dealer's repair shop for 1700 was given for many new hoses and labor. I got a second opinion and was told absolutely nothing was leaking. I was considering only 1 star ... I purchased a car in November, paid cash plus trade-in. The DMV portion was screwed up by the dealership and registered incorrectly and no tags were requested... finally got tags for car... but am still waiting on DMV title .. I purchased car late November early December... I doubt we will ever do business there again, nor would we recommend to anyone who asks us. We wanted to keep our money invested in a Coastside business, however, in the future we will go over the hill. Came back at 11:00 a.m. and they had not even started on the warranty work. One warranty item had been outstanding for almost a year with a "part ordered" and no follow up by them. I traveled all the way from San Jose to get a car I couldn't find anywhere else, a 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid with only 28,300 miles on it for $13,850. The deal was great considering the low mileage and all the other 2015's or 2016's had 48,000-72,000 miles on them. As you can see, the car is immaculate inside and outside. It came with full power and built in Navigation and My Ford Touch in a color other than black! Black was easy to find but not silver!. Gerald Watson was the sales rep and treated me with the utmost of respect and kindness. His professionalism was tested but he came through with 5 stars all the time. Thanks Gerald. I recently came back to the dealership 4 days after the purchase to pick up a new SIM card for the navigation since the car didn't have it when I bought it. They had one come in from a lease car and they put it into the slot but it didn't work. I was upset because of the long trip. However, Mike "Woody" Woods - the parts manager did not want me to go home mad so he went out of his way to look for a solution which Gerald did too. Mike came up with a new SIM card from their Sr Technician-Rich who didn't mind allowing me to have it, (still in original packaging unopened). He would just take the new one they ordered for me that hadn't come in as anticipated. Because of Mike and Rich my trip wasn't wasted and I left a happy camper. I would have to say, all these guys went far and away above the norm trying their utmost to satisfy me. You know the old saying: "Drive a little and save a lot." I saw a vehicle on their website and spoke to one of their sales persons. Her name was Kelly asked if it had all the features I was looking for call back a few times to confirm thanks told them I would be in in an hour with a hold of vehicle do they need to pause or something and they said no weed Holdenville vehicle for you. I drove an hour and 15 minutes to get there 10 minutes before I got to the dealership I got a phone call back from kelly saying that someone was buying the buying the truck that I was interested. Day 1 I bought my 2020 Explorer the car broke down, due to a chip malfunction. (Sold me a lemon) tried to get out of lease, wasn't possible. They said was going to take 3 months to get this chip, I got upset and they took one from another explorer and cut a big patch in my carpet and left it like that. First oil change, I call make arraignments with Sarah she tells me the only time they accept service is at 8am so I had to have my wife drop off the car, explained all the issues I had with the car and they said they'd give her a ride home. When she goes to drop of the car, they had no reservation they had no clue on what services were needed. Had to call again and explain. They don't put anything in the computer and did not have a ride for her home. Had to wait hours for Uber. Nightmare! Second service appointment today this morning. I arrive not one person in the entire place wearing a mask. I stand there Tony, Sarah and another guy who works there are talking and completely ignoring me standing there, I say hello I here to drop off my car. They Tony takes my information and tells me the vehicle will be ready after lunch around 12:30pm, as I leave Sarah tells me the vehicle will be ready at 4:30-5pm. I say hahaha Tony said 12:30pm, she said oh well he'll call you then if that's possible. As I'm waking a way I mumble to myself what the F-ck is wrong with this place. 5 mins later Tony calls me screaming at me and tells me to pick up my f-cking car. So I did and then find out through the sales man I can take it to Serremonte Ford. Wow wish I knew that! Made an appointment in the afternoon (Not 8am) and got a text confirmation. Will never buy a Ford again after this experience! Going back to Toyota, we're there take care of there customers, they have a waiting area with a cafe and offer free refreshments while you wait and when the lease is over the Toyota is worth more then you still own, can't say that about Ford. I was shopping for a pick-up truck and shopped at James Ford. Jimmy Brandt is a good guy. He appears to be genuine and honest. Tito (Sorry, don't know his last name) seems to be OK too. He appears to be a hard-working go-getter. I'm writing this review to ultimately allow shoppers to be informed before shopping there, not steer them away. That's the reason for three (3) stars. I recently purchased a Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty truck with a Cummins inline 6. I shopped at James Ford before the purchase and was very interested in an F250 Super Duty. I was on the cusp of buying the F250 even though both trucks had very similar performance capabilities. The Ram had more convenience and comfort options and it was prepped for a 5th-Wheel (one of my major reasons for buying the bigger, more powerful truck than what I had). When Shopping at the Ram dealership, they offered $1k more for my trade than James Ford and they (the Ram dealership) were willing to go 15% below MSRP to James' 6.25% below MSRP. James Ford found a lender that would go 3.9% out to 72 months. The Ram Dealership found multiple lenders that would go as low as 2.9% at 72 months After figuring out the difference in the amount financed, financing costs over the life of the loan and the ultimate value, the Ford F250 would have cost almost $12k more than a truck that is, frankly, better equipped. All that said, I was still willing to buy the Ford because I liked much about it...so did my wife. And we wanted to stay local because we live in Half Moon Bay. When I went in to negotiate and try and get them to come a little closer to the deal I was offered for the Ram, their sales manager immediately went for a "Hard Sell." His main selling point was that Fords are just better than Rams and that I should be willing to pay that extra price. While I wouldn't have gone that route, I understand the sales tactic. Here is the entire purpose of this review: While going for the hard sell, the sales manager was abrasive and rude. That is what consumers need to know. Understand that if you're OK with that type of behavior, you won't be put off by it. I'm not OK with it and I choose not to give business to anyone who acts like that. So, I think they have nice cars & trucks and I think they have some good people...But they have a least one who's not so nice. read more

I bought a used 2007 Lexus at James Ford a week ago. The car itself is fine (I believe they bought it at auction) and the price was ok, but buyer beware. What I didn't know was the cost to replace the electronic keys that James' did not provide. If I had added the additional cost of the keys, and the lug nut keys, I would have been better off buying one of the other GXs on the market. Worse Dealer ive ever worked with. I should of never brought my brand new truck (F350) here. Simple transmission leak turned into a nightmare when tech failed to reassemble my truck correctly. Denting Transmission pan and Left wiring harness clips broken and loose causing harness to get caught in driveshaft pulling every wiring out of the truck and engine bay. when confronted with issue Service manager Roy Replied "Dont bring that truck here, i will not touch it, Ford will have to make me fix it" Mean while Ford Denies fixing it at another dealer under warranty due to it being tech neglect. 40 Days later Im still out my new truck while making $1100 payments. and i "Dont qualify for a replacement or a buyback (lemon) because its not manufacture error/ Warranty work". read more

Awful experience. Took my Ford Escape in for an overheat and check engine light issue. Paid $2600 in, according to them, "necessary repairs." Got my car back and the engine light came back on a day later. Took the car back, was told that a new issue had appeared and it would be $1000 more. Seemed as they had just repaired my car a day prior, but I had no choice but to proceed as I had already invested money on the other repairs. Second "repair" was made, got the car back, and AGAIN light came on immediately. Took the car back a THIRD time. They had my car for a week. Nobody called me with any information. I had to call them. I was told they went ahead and replaced more ignition coils (without my consent) and then discovered I had a coolant leak and needed a new head gasket. The cost of this would not be worth the value of the car, and had they caught this the first time around, I never would have put any money into the other repairs. Upon talking to other mechanics, they all said this should have been easily caught if it was brought in with an overheat issue originally. I said this was negligence on their part, and wanted a full refund, as they had failed to detect they main issue the first and second time. I never had the full information about the cars problems to make an informed decision on how to proceed. I was offered $1000, but turned this down out of principle. I spent the next two weeks being shuffled between Tony, the manager, and Robert, the owner, who were both very patronizing, unapologetic, and down-talking. Honestly, I feel like this is partially due to me being a woman with actual opinions and a voice expressing my dissatisfaction. I truly feel in this situation, if I had been a man, I would not have been taken advantage of to begin with and I also would have been spoken to and listened to with more respect. They refused to admit any mistake, and instead gaslit me and made it seem as if I was overreacting. They also told me my car was technically "fixed" because the engine light was off when they returned it the fourth time. However, once again, it came back on immediately. When I relayed this information, it was dismissed. In the end I received $2000 back, but only because I stood my ground and fought for it. I am still out $1600, and left with a car that is worse then when I first brought it to them. I am pretty sure they did further damage to it when they were doing the "repairs" as it will now not hold gas, is slow to accelerate, sounds clunky, still has a check engine light on and needs a new head gasket. I will not be able to sell the car for more then what I lost at James Ford due to the issues. In total, they had my car for almost a month between having to bring it back to them three times, and I lost $1600 and this has been a huge headache and taken up a lot of time and and energy from my life. Other reviews I have now read on here, echo similar experiences. Besides the loss of money I was very disappointed in the way I was treated when I raised an issue. I felt very disrespected and dismissed by the higher-up's in charge. These are people who will never admit wrong doing or own up to their mistakes. They will try and talk their way out of taking on any blame and will make you feel stupid in the process. Absolutely do not go here. I recently purchased a used Ford Edge from James Ford. My Salesman was Gerald and he was great. My original intent was to purchase a new Ford Edge and Gerald was very timely in providing me quotes and patient with all my questions. During this process my husband gently pointed out to me that this would be my 5th car in the 7 years that he's known me and i should consider a used vehicle this time. When i switched gears Gerald didn't even blink an eye and put me into an AWESOME used vehicle. If it didn't say 51,000 miles on the odometer i would've sworn it was brand new. Ed the finance guy was also a joy to work with, as was the owner of this operation. Gerald sent thank you notes (the 1st after my first visit to thank me for coming by and the 2nd after we bought the car) and followed up with a phone call to make sure that i was happy with my vehicle. Personal touches that i truly appreciate. . 8 days after i purchased my vehicle I was t-bone at an intersection and the whole driver's side of the car was pretty jacked up. I told Gerald and Ed about my unfortunate accident and they were very helpful in finding me the right body shop (Curly & Red's also in HMB) and Gerald babysat the project (along with my farmers adjuster) and i am convinced that his influence helped me get my car back in a timely manner. BTW, if you are ever going to get t-boned by a car going 30 miles in hour do it in a Ford Edge, I wasn't hurt at all and it was right into the driver side door. The reason I chose James Ford in the first place was when i was shopping online for my car and being contacted by all the salesmen from all the local dealerships, Gerald was the least pushy on the phone and I really liked his vibe.
