Steven was funny, kind and efficient in helping me find the right car as I was deciding between and Outback and Crosstrek. He answered all my very detailed questions via text, patiently and clearly, before I went to test drive the two cars. He even suggested I get the smaller car bc he thought it would be a better fit for me. This was my first time buying a new car so I really appreciated the non-macho, no pressure approach! My only suggestion is that Serramonte Subaru staff be knowledgeable about the infotainment system, as still two weeks later the car won't play me text messages and this is a known problem. They did offer me an appointment with a delivery specialist after I called them, but this should just be an easy fix that they address before the car leaves the lot. We have to give high marks to Steven Wu. He was a joy to work with and buy a car from (2026 CrossTrek Hybrid). Easy-going, no pressure, up-front and just a heck of a nice guy with a really great sense of humour. Looking for a new car, we started with the Costco Auto Purchase program and a couple of other car buying sites. This lead to ALL of the Bay Area Subaru dealers either calling, texting, or emailing - which is fine - they're trying to sell a car and we needed to buy a car. Steven Wu gave us a great price via email right out of the gate! No pressure, no hassle. Here is the price we can sell a car for and let us know if that works for you or not. No other dealer did that. All the other dealers said come on down, take a test drive, etc. Buying a car is very time consuming and instead of getting to the price, negotiating, etc. at the END of the purchase experience, Steven started with the price at the beginning of the purchase experience. Then we were delayed a week due to a personal injury and couldn't come in, but that was not an issue and the price quoted via email remained the same. We came in for the test drive, waffled on the color a bit (red or blue) and then made our choice. I then came back the following week and picked the car up. Steven even offered to pick me up from the Colma Bart station (I came over from the East Bay). Wow! It had been 15 years since we bought our 1st Subaru and we're dreading get our 2nd, given our previous experience with an East Bay Subaru dealer. Steven was great! Going to this place and expecting honesty is like going to the strip club and expecting love. WARNING TO ANYONE COMING HERE FOR A SUBARU CORPORATE LEASE DEAL!!! They use good corporate lease deals on basic trims as bait for a bait and switch sales tactic. I came for a premium trim outback, was told it's available, sat in it, told the sales person I liked it, sat down for financing and submitted my application. While waiting for my application to process I was told that the car was just sold for cash from underneath me and that my only option was now a limited trim level that conveniently was at the top of my lease credit approved budget. This was my first experience at a car dealership and I was naive enough to continue with the purchase because I was desperate for an Outback. I waited 3 years to write this review because I was afraid to face retaliation on my service plan, as when someone acts this dishonestly, anything is possible. If you don't care about your money, are desperate for a Subaru from this specific dealership, and like to be treated like a mark, this is the dealership for you. I've been a loyal Subaru owner since 2020 and have consistently brought my car here for service. When you're finally able to get your vehicle in, the service itself is solid. However, the process of simply trying to schedule an appointment or speak with someone has become incredibly frustrating. The main phone line, which handles calls for Volkswagen, Kia, and Subaru, is where the issues begin. I called multiple times trying to reach a live Subaru service representative, only to be stuck in a voicemail loop after several minutes on hold. On my fourth attempt, I asked the front desk rep answering the phone (a younger-sounding woman) if there was any way to speak to someone directly. Instead of helping, she raised her voice at me and continued to speak disrespectfully--even after I calmly explained my situation. When I asked, "Why are you raising your voice at me?" her tone suddenly changed, and she denied doing so. Nothing feels worse than being gaslighted in the moment. When I then asked to speak with a manager, she ignored my request and redirected my call elsewhere. This kind of treatment is unacceptable--especially when customers are paying a premium for service. Rude and dismissive customer service at the front desk completely undermines the quality of the work being done in the shop. Subaru makes great cars, but this dealership seriously needs to improve how it handles customer interactions, especially the call lines. read more
