Large, Jerk Chicken
David W.

Great value. The large takeout serving of jerk chicken is easily enough for two meals it must weigh 3+ pounds. It's very tasty and I love the cabbage. The bones are left in the chicken, so if that's a concern for you, another place may be a better choice.

This is the back area. Corner store kinda vibe.

So, first off, I am so glad that this place closed at 9 pm. It is so difficult to even call in an order at Carena's and let's not get into their line. . . you may as well call while you're in line or your food will get cold. I love the outer appeal of the building. The Jamaican flare and you know that Bob Marley is a staple so to see an art piece of him is really nice. Now, there are two entryways. I think the back entrance is for the later hours while the restaurant itself may be closed a little earlier given the pandemic. Since most people are doing carry out, they should probably spruce this area up a bit. I mean, it is basically empty, the menu is a bit tattered, the window view would make you think twice before ordering, especially if you are a germophobe with Rona booming. You basically have to have a corner store mindset. It's a little sad since the restaurant section is pretty nice. Now again, I was ecstatic that they were open until 9 pm. . . but then . . . you're out of almost everything: plantain? "we're out", beef patty "we're out", jerk chicken? "we're out". Mane, what do ya have? lol Mind you, I arrived around 6:30 pm. aaaaaanywho... I got the curry goat. When I say my plate was FULL, I'm being 100% honest. I decided to get large and it was a lot. I couldn't even keep the lid closed. Now, I was expecting a little sauce to be there since it is curry goat. The sauce was not there from what I could see, but maybe it was absorbed by all the rice and veggies (remember. . . this thing is PACKED). Now, when I finally ate the food, FULL OF FLAVOR. I was pleasantly surprised because of the lack of sauce and I was skeptical because of the back ambiance. I was happy to try their food! It was a great experience. The goat wasn't fatty and they didn't skimp on the meat either. So my only take away was the back ambiance, other than that, the food was great! I may visit again for sure.

Mac and cheese $3.50

I think they closed down the restaurant/ lounge part but when I went today it was more of a Togo place! Food portion is very generous so the price is justified! I'm not gonna lie the food was a lil weak in flavor compared to other Jamaican place I've been too. I can see that it's well seasoned but i don't know maybe I came in a bad day or had from a wrong batch. But I'm still gonna go and try more next time cuz I'm not convinced that it's not that good. I wanna give them another try. Mac and cheese was a lil dry not w ouch cheese. The top layer was nice and cheesy baked, but the inside wasn't really creamy. It was warm and fresh but it kinda tasted like how a cold mac taste before you heat it up. Steak and pepper was just not hitting it but it wasn't horrible. My brother got oxtail he said it was ok I didn't try it. He said it taste a lil like it the bottom of the pot might've been burnt there was a hint of burn taste. The beef patty I didn't really like it but my brother did so I guess it's just an individual taste preference not that it actually is bad!! But over all it was nice, nice people and fast and fresh food!

Hands down my favorite lunch spot. You get a lot of food and it is very inexpensive. This man cooks with his heart and soul. Only trade off is that it is usually cash only

Jamerican cuisine. ( Caribbean) Excellent authentic jamaican food. I got curry goat & ride and beans. So much food I have to enjoy later. Mask required to enter and only 5 people allowed in store. Carryout only. It looks like they do have restaurant seating but that's closed. Will definitely come back here very soon.

Come here if you want large portions of tasty chicken curry for takeout. I've ordered their chicken curry a couple times before. They fill the box up to the brim and the chicken has plenty of delicious skin on there. Worth a look if you're in the neighborhood and want something quick. It's definitely a whole in the wall.

Jerk chicken was really good and it was nice talking to the owner about the meal and plans to expand/renovate the dining area.

Only street parking is available, but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot. The atmosphere: Very rustic vibe with some farmhouse-style decor. They have table, high-top, bar, and patio seating available. The food: I opted for the Chicken and Waffles with a side of cheese grits. I chose to make it hot for more spice. It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). She informed us about the daily specials and was attentive throughout our visit.

Always a wonderful event when I get to go to Beauvine…read more Burgers are delicious, juicy, and filling, and not to mention the duck fat fries that inevitably end up on my plate! I've always had a pleasant time dining in, the staff has always been attentive to refill my drinks, and they always are willing to entertain a conversation with me, or entertain me with their conversation. Beauvine, in my opinion, is a staple of Richmond's food scene and is a MUST to anyone new or visiting the city and wants a fantastic, and reasonably priced, burger. With all that said, I think the name needs to change, Beauvine Burger isn't just a concept anymore, it's an entire thought.

If I remember correctly, their kitchen stays open until 2300 or 2330, which was nice. They have a lot of tables and chairs along bar seating. The bartenders that waited on us were polite, but it did take them forever to come back and check on me. I was going to order another drink, but because it took them quite a bit of time to get back to me, I ended up not forgoing the extra drink. I ordered a Bellytimber burger with a side of onion rings and a Beauvine's mule with raspberry flavor. My friend had ordered wings with a Modelo. My burger and onion rings were good, but my mule wasn't strong enough for me. It tasted quite watered down. The wings, my friend said, was alright. Overall, my experience was okay. I wouldn't mind coming back, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way.

The patio is covered and has 2 heaters. We walked into the bar and the bartender directed us outside where our server came out and got us waters. She helped us turn the heaters on and got us settled as we waited for the rest of our family to arrive. For apps, we ordered the Fried Oysters and the chicken tenders with BBQ sauce. The chicken tenders came with fries as well. The oysters were good, nice and crispy. The tenders were also delicious, especially with the BBQ sauce. The fries, while they looked crispy, were just a tad soggy for my taste. For our entrees, I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich and my husband ordered the cubano. Our family ordered salads with salmon. Everything looked delicious and was fairly quick to come out. My sandwich came with ranch and it definitely helped tone down the saltiness of the Fried chicken. Just eating the chicken alone was too salty and I had asked for my fries extra crispy which were amazing. The cubano sandwich was good and well made and the side of Brussels my husband got were also crispy. The salads and the salmon looked good, definitely cooked well. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The person who helped bring out our drinks also ended up bringing out some bacon for our dog and was so kind. The patio is dog friendly but I would recommend brining a towel or mat for your pup to lay on. Overall, great service and good food!

This is the restaurant in the lobby of the Omni, and their room service menu has a really solid variety. Appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, fish, chicken, steak, seafood, other meat options, plus plenty of sides and desserts. There's something for whatever mood you're in. For my appetizer I ordered the fried green tomatoes. I'm very picky about fried green tomatoes because if they're not done right, they can be greasy and heavy. These were not. They were thick wedges of firm green tomatoes in a light batter, stacked with a spread of pimento cheese and finished with a drizzle of honey. The balance of savory and sweet worked really well, and the texture was exactly what I look for -- crisp outside, tender yet firm inside. For my entrée I chose the roasted lamb rack. It came as two double ribs over a sweet potato purée that had a subtle hint of cinnamon -- really nice flavor without being overpowering. The lamb was cooked to the right temperature, juicy and tender, with a light chimichurri and vegetables alongside. I also ordered the grilled corn succotash as a side -- corn, beans, and tomato. It was fresh and bright and complemented the richness of the lamb perfectly. This is my second time dining here. The first time I had breakfast out on the Westham Porch, and both experiences have been very pleasant. The service has been consistent, the food is thoughtfully prepared, and it's a great option whether you're dining downstairs or ordering up to your room.
