So fucking judge my level if I can't order exactly what I want . You are ther to cooperate with me not to show me ur frustrated face , everyone has problems. We go to restaurant to have a good relaxing time not to see ur rude face. There must be some certificate for waitress where they should be taught how to greet a costume rand give that smile. I was dragged (willingly!) out here to try this place. All of my friends were raving about how amazing it is. We live out in Downers Grove so it was a good 20-30 minute drive. The salsa was good, not really a mild choice though. Everything was reasonably priced and everything was good. Our waitress was not very friendly, she didnt even care where the food went. She just handed it to the nearest person to her to pass it on to who ever ordered it. I didnt expect amazing service for not really being a resutrant place but she sure was happy after everyone tipped her. I think that was the only smile I received from her. This place is weird because the quality of the food depends on what time of day you go there. If you go for lunch it's really good...if you go for dinner it's only so-so. It's probably because it's been sitting out all day. Last time I was there they had the door open (it was hot out) but it let all these flies in that were bothering me while I was trying to eat. Wow. This is place is wonderful. Authentic, fresh, fast mexican food. My coworker and I came here for lunch. She got the burrito with steak and I got the enchiladas with steak. I also tried the Chile Relleno taco. The taco was soooo good. Nice batter, tender pepper and the right about of cheese inside of 2 homemade tortillas. The enchiladas were perfect. Well seasoned steak, good sauce and the wonderful tortillas. My coworker thoroughly enjoyed her footlong megaburrito that could have easily been mistaken for a small child. The icing on the cake? The prices. The burrito was around $5 and the enchiladas $8. Definitely coming back! read more

After not eating here for quite some time because of getting an attitude from the servers and the food being okay I decided to give it another try today but then remembered why I stopped eating here in the first place. I called in my order on the phone and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later to pick it up. I was told it was not ready yet. There were 3 other people waiting for their food ahead of me. The restaurant was really busy so I understand a little extra wait time, but they all got their food and I stood there still waiting 25 minutes after calling in my order. 2 people came in sat down ordered and received their food while I was still waiting. I decided to go up to the register and ask the other server if my order was ready bc the first server disappeared. She gives an attitude and goes and checks a bag sitting there to verify my name. Turns out it was my food sitting there getting cold for who knows how long. I told her I ordered my food 45 minutes ago and was told 15, she gave no apology whatsoever, just disregarded what i said completely and just looked at me. I get home and take everything out of the bag and the entire order is wrong and the food did not even taste good. This place deserves 5 stars but can't get one due to the horrible customer service of a particular waitress that wears too much makeup, and rolls her eyes at everything. Ignorant people work here very rude. Every time I call to place my order they put me on hold for 10-15min or they forget someone is on hold and they hang up on you. And when you get your order its never correct my familys order will consist of 2 steak burritos and 8 tacos when I ask for 8 sauces they want to charge me $3.00 for a cup of salsa but you eat there you get free chips and salsa I dont understand it. I absolutely LOVE Jalisco's! There are at least 5 different Mexican restaurants I pass on my way here and I would gladly pass them ALL up for this place! I their chicken enchiladas are spectacular! Their chile rellanos (sp) are the BEST I've ever had. Their tacos, tortas, and burritos are phenomenal! I only had one thing from here that I wasn't super crazy for, but it was my mistake for not ordering the spicy sauce on the side. The prices here can't be beat for the quality! Late night hunger struck and burritos it was! This place has the best burritos hands down, steak with no beans and extra cheese! I've tried their tortas, which is the same thing just on a huge hamburger bun looking bread. Pretty good but the burrito is king. Service is good, place is fairly in good shape and they're open super late! So you can scratch off McDonald's and Taco Bell and just come here when hunger calls you late into the night. Al pastor Nachos are the very best! But keep in mind late at night they switch the type of meat for the al pastor! Trust me this was confirmed to me, it is better earlier than later at night. When I go late I order it al pastor mixed with steak. Service is pretty descent. read more

Let me first state... that this place used to be amazing. A year ago, it would have had five stars from me without question. Okay, now that that's out of the way... I don't even know... where to begin, so let's start here. When I go to ethnic (particularly Mexican) places, I do not expect everyone to speak perfect English. However... everyone who works for the establishment should know their own menu items in English. The fact that their waitresses do not know their menu items in English... is baffling to me. How do you take orders? Not very well. I will tell you that. They have gotten my order wrong the last few times I've gone there. They had this amazing avocado burrito that I was borderline crazy about but the last few times I've ordered it, there has been no avocado on it. In fact, they gave me a very large burrito that was filled with 95% bean mush and a SPRINKLE of lettuce... and that was it. I DID say no tomatoes but Lettuce and Beans? Come on. No cheese, even, just mostly mushy beans and a tiny bit of lettuce on my AVOCADO burrito. They didn't forget to CHARGE the extra dollar or whatever for the "avocado" burrito as opposed to the cheaper "vegetarian" option, though. The first time this happened, I had ordered it to take home and I wasn't about to drive back there to complain, so I tried to eat it and got less than halfway through before I just had to toss the disgusting thing. What a waste. Second time was the charm. I'm done. I'm not going back there. Maybe a year down the line, I'll give them another chance but for the moment, I'll settle for the much less conveniently located Jimmy Johns down the street, where I actually get what I order. read more

This should have posted 5 months ago but for some reason went into drafts so here it is now that i saw it hidden away! Better late than never. Good food would give 4 stars but when I sent family to pick up food last week it was pure hell. To order just my steak burrito took 5 phone calls and 3 texts to understand my order plus it written on paper. My family was fine it was the employee not understanding. All I wanted was a Steak Burrito inside steak obviously rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, extra cheese, and fajita style veggies (onions and green peppers). Thats where everything went wrong. They didnt understand the peppers and onions. Said they couldnt do it. Yet they have a veggie burrito with these fajita veggies exceptni wanted steak with it too. Family said they know it costs extra and thats fine. Order was complete and in bag was fajitas a whole meal and plain steak burrito. So they said this is not what we ordered. The lady insisted this was the fajita meal. My mom said we didnt want a whole fajita meal daughter just wanted the fajita style peppers and onions in her burrito. The lady said well we cant do that so made you the meal. The whole time Im on the phone hearing and explaining i only want veggies added to burrito. Finally she understood but then the rice couldnt be inside the burrito. Keep in mind anytime I have ordered from here I get the same thing. I guess she proceeded to charge them for each individual item inside burrito and doubled or triple price of them may I add because a steak burrito with peppers and onions added and a horchata ONLY came out to about $23.00. So burrito alone was like $18. When parents got home I was so upset that something so simple turned into a 40min ordeal especially when its been ordered dozens of times. That I couldnt eat more than a few bites cause my head pain was so much worse than normal and was feelin like pukin from stress( disabled with severe neuro diseases) And something thats normally $10-12 including horchata and salsa on side came out to $23.00. Its sad cause I always liked their food and they would be getting higher stars but because of customer service and over charging just because they get a 2. I feel it should be no stars for the cost and drama but since I have fond memories of late night food stops with friends they will atleast get a 2. And I hope to try them again soon and maybe order same thing again to see what happens and i can do an update then. I do love their marinated carrots and horchata. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area ( there are a lot). The staff remembers their customers. The food is not to pricey. The quality of the food is very good. I have been eating here since they opened, many years. They have kept the same high quality. No matter how crowded they are they keep the orders moving and the quality remains high. Probably what I like best is I have been there a few times when the vegetable trucks have pulled up with the delivery, all if their food is fresh, high quality. Recently their prices have gone up and not by a little either: but by a lot, not only have their prices gone go but their quality as well as quantity has gone down significantly, I recently called in and ordered 2 steak nachos and 2 steak tacos and they screwed it up royally, then the woman tries to justify her actions and say well then that's like $30-32, I'm like no it's not its $25 at the most! Got food home and there is hardly any meat in any of the dishes, don't get me wrong I'm not looking for a lot, just some sort of consistency! I found a new home, it's name is tequila located on 79th and Merrimac, former employees of Jalisco and generous portions....I love tequila it's fabulous, guess when the employees left, they took the quality of food with them. read more

Stopped here for lunch based on the great Yelp reviews. The food was VERY good. We had taco & burrito dinners (Steak & Chicken) and Carne en su Jugo along with the guacamole (which was really delicious). The portions were perfect for the price and service was great. It is nothing fancy inside but clean. I would have given them 5 stars but I didn't particularly care for their chips & salsa. Stopped by for my first time today and I wasn't disappointed. Ordered a burrito and it was very good. The portion was ridiculous which is a major bonus. I am a picky eater so I usually only get steak w/ lettuce and cheese and this often times leads to me receiving skimpy burritos but not at Jalisco. These guys gave me the fattest burrito I've seen in a while. It wasn't super oily like other burritos which is something else that I liked. I'm mostly a pork taco fan and usually only order pork tacos wherever I go, but I've tried their other meats as well and they are excellent. The meat is juicy and marbled well; you won't find big fat chunks in your tacos. I normally never order chicken or steak tacos anywhere because they are usually kind of bland or serve up dry meat, but at Jalisco's, it is all nice and juicy. I mostly do carryout, but of all of the times I have picked up and have been waited on, they have always been friendly. The waitresses have always taken very good care of me on everything, including special requests for more hot peppers or sauce or in accommodating a last minute change to the order. A couple of tips: be nice to the help. They are super nice and eager to please to people who are nice as well. (some of their clientele can be a little abrasive at times) read more
