Let me say the food is phenomenal but you can expect them to mess up your order, mainly the young man who works the register. The past 2 times I've been there he messed up my order both times. I just had a 5 star Mexican experience at Chenchos 2 in Oak Forest so that's my mental benchmark now. The staff was great and there was a peaceful contented vibe here. This is one of my favorite places to go for tacos, if not my absolute favorite. Their asada is the best in town. I seriously can't express how good this place is. Every person I've spoken with has been nice though it can be a bit pricey. This is always my go-to. My only complaint is lately the hours have been a bit weird. They close early sometimes, stay open late others and I haven't been able to come in because of such weird scheduling. I just wish they had a set closing time so I'd know moving forward. If i can give it 0 stars I would. Don't get me wrong the food is decent. But the service and integrity of this business is sickening. Me and my friends come here on a weekly basis, usually one person covers the tab. After awhile of keeping the receipts we realized they have been charging us an additional $10-$20 every time. They upcharged the price on the food. Tacos are $2.25 but they charged us $3.50 they also charged us an extra $11.50 as a "misc" charge. When I confronted the waiter she grabbed the receipt and scratch it out with pen. We also tipped her $10 cash but she took another $5 from my card. Never coming here again. read more

Honestly I like the Tacos they pretty big and not as expensive from what I'm used to. The Horchata tastes pretty good too.

The chicken and steak here are top quality. The chicken is my favorite, and I tend to lean towards the burritos. The burritos are large and high quality - taking me back to the days when the burritos were good in Summit IL. However since those places have gone down in quality in that area, Pollo Negro is my new #1 spot for the best burritos. The dinners and tacos are good as well, and when I see the El Pastor on the spit I'll grab an El Pastor taco as well. Great in-restaurant service, and the pico de gallo they serve with the chips in the restaurant is extremely addictive. read more

My husband and I can be very picky when it comes to Mexican food and this place definitely passed the test. Very clean kitchen and high quality ingredients. Since they have an open kitchen, we were able to see that they marinate the meats in house vs some places who buy it preseasoned. Big difference flavor-wise. We tried the pork and steak tacos, boy delicious although we enjoyed the pork more. Guacamole was amazing, possibly the best out of all the local places we've tried. We will be back soon! read more

I can't review the food because I never even got the opportunity to place an order. I called to place an order and the first 3 times no one answered. I called one more time and at last someone picked up. But that's as far as it went. I stayed on the line for about 5 minutes because I really wanted to try their food. I can tell you that I will never be returning to this place. The food is most definitely microwaved, or at least their steak is... if you can even call that steak. I have had some of the most authentic Mexican food and this definitely falls close to the bottom. If you're looking to be duped by getting ground beef instead of carne Asada, then go for it. One of my new co-workers brought me here for lunch today. Very authentic Mexican food. I got the Burrito Dinner Special with beans and rice. It was pretty tasty! I think the beef in the Burrito was just a bit bland, but I added some if the sauce that came with the complimentary chips and salsa and that spiced it right up. The portions were too big to finish. The place was small and cozy. It seemed that people could get in and out quickly if they were on the run for lunch. We chose to sit and eat. The only real complaint that I had was that the music they were playing was blasting so loud I felt like I was I a night club. We had to try to yell over it as we talked and placed our order. Other than that, this place is pretty darn good!! Friendly staff. Could use a bit of a decor update, but I'm not picky if it's clean, which this place was. read more

My original review was great. I was so happy to have a place close to home. Then... I ordered chicken enchiladas. I am a steak person, so this is odd for me. I ended up in the bathroom that night into the next day. I figured it was hard to tell if chicken had been sitting out or old, so I'd stick with steak from now on. I ordered a large pozole soup. I waited while the cook ladelled the soup out of an old aluminum pot into the container. Their children were helping out because it was a Saturday. I got to my daughter's for lunch and found there were no sides. The cilantro, onion, jalapenos, radishes, limes, nothing. I called and they were arrogant. The girl said, sorry-we'll watch better next time! My daughter took one bite and said, it tasted like dish soap, she wouldn't eat it. I ate it anyway, stupid move. I spent 2 days in the bathroom. I'm assuming the children helped with the dishes, and that pot is most likely reused for warming, not rinsed correctly. After my original phone call was met with little concern, I didn't bother calling again. They won't get another visit from me, 2 strikes is enough! read more

This is my new Mexican go to place. I used to go to Jalisco's and then switched to Zaca Taco's, but the quality of the meat is so much better here. I've had the steak chimichanga, ground beef torta, and ground beef tacos and all were delicious. I am very picky when it comes to meat and this place has not disappointed yet. The rice is a little bit bland, but the flavor of the rest of the meal makes up for it. The inside is very clean and you can see the food while it is being prepared. The staff is friendly. I'll definitely be coming back for more and recommending it to anyone who is looking for a great Mexican place to try. read more
