Taylor at the bar makes amazing drinks, I had the best raspberry mojito of my life. I got the nachos to eat and they were delicious & very filling- perfect to share with friends. We have been fans and customers for many years and we have always loved the food. As a Mexican American, I enjoy quality Mexican food and Jalapeños in Walpole has delivered for many years. Tonight, we ordered from Jalapeño's in Walpole and we were so disappointed. Not sure if the change occurred in the kitchen but we were not able to enjoy our dinner. Everything here is fantastic! They have the cutest outdoor bar area - set up with multiple TVs, fire pit, corn hole, and room for live music! They do taco Tuesdays and have delicious and authentic Mexican food. It is family owned and operated - and is exactly the type of place you want in your regular night out rotation. The red sangria is delicious - the fajitas are well seasoned and excellent, and the tres leches cake is incredible! The drink selection covers everyone in the family, and the bar offers alcohol free options. What pulls together the food, drink and atmosphere is their wit staff. The servers know the menu, enjoy taking care of you and are the finishing touch on a tasty, fun, experience. First time visiting here and the place is pretty big inside and in two separate dining rooms. They also have an outdoor patio with live music. The inside part near the smaller bar and throughout the place, not sure if this place used to be smoking or not, but it smells like an ashtray, which is a the first turn off of this place. The high top tables also are mostly broken and wobbly and old. The menu here is like any other Mexican place, tacos, burritos and other speciliaties. The issue here is the food is just not that great for the price you pay. I paid $17 dollars for Floutas and they were overcooked and hard and covered with green chili sauce which was overly spicy. The rice was nasty and the black beans were mushy. The quesadillas here are too overly cheesy and chicken inside was nasty. I was a bit shocked and this was not what I expected. This reminded me of nasty Aculpulcos in Franklin. Skip this place and just go to Taco Bell, its about the same thing and cheaper. read more

I give a good rating to the two staff, Jami D and her mom. They were trying and very pleasant, but they needed proper management to support them and they needed more staff. The food took forever. Four of us and one meal arrived about eight minutes after the others. Two of the other meals were cold with one sent back. While we only had minimal contact with staff, (short-staffed and trying to help everyone) I feel sorry for them that the owner does not get it. I see this all the time. It's disgraceful. It looks like is has a lot of character and could be a great place if managed properly. This place needs a consultant, and I am a consultant. The owner needs to contact me. The food was horrible- No flavor what so ever and just tossed on the plate. Our waitress, Vanessa was slow and very inattentive. We're new in town and wanted to have some Mexican food. We waited 25 mins for take out for 3 orders of tacos and street corn. When we got home, the street corn wasn't there. The tacos were awful. Absolute garbage food. I think this was some of the worst Mexican food in my life. Everything was bland and sloppy. My 5 year old said that the food was "disgusting" and for once she wasn't exaggerating. DO NOT order food from this place. read more

This place used to be so good. This time we ordered through a delivery service and I was surprised to get a call from the delivery driver who was sitting outside our house. "Please give me a call" he said, "It's about your food." Apparently the bag the restaurant gave had completely disintegrated in the car, and upon getting out to meet the driver, I saw why. The entire bag was a soggy, disgusting mess. Let's go one by one. Spinach and mushroom sauté - Absolutely tiny portion and it had a giant hair in it. Cheese Enchilada (See the Pic) - Wasn't even close to as described, and the sour cream looked curdled. The sour cream actually cracked when you went to pick it up. Steak Fajita Bowl (See the Pic) - This is a $17 steak fajita bowl. I'm not kidding. Half a scoop of steak, unmelted cheese and uncooked onions. Disgusting. Never. Again. My husband and I walked in on a Friday night, and the place was pretty quiet. We sat at a hightop in the bar area. Service was friendly. Getting a server to come to our table after we were seated took a little longer than expected. We ordered margaritas and nachos; the drinks were tasty, although not very strong considering the price. Idk who Renee is but she doesn't know a thing about good tacos!!! (See "Renee's tacos" pic). The most bland tacos I've had in my entire life. Renee's tacos consist of chicken with some cilantro, sour cream and guacamole. There's also rice and beans on the side - which sad to say, was the best part of the dish. The chicken in the tacos had no flavor at all... it was just shredded chicken and zero flavor. The soft corn tortillas were dripping wet from the shredded chicken and that just about did it for me. I've also never seen shrimp camarones in a yellow white sauce... everywhere else I've ever had it the sauce is red. It just looks anemic and gross. SIX SHRIMP AND SOME RICE/BEANS for $22!!! Is this real life?! Yup... at Jalapeño Grill it is! Skip this place. If this was my first time trying "Mexican" food I can honestly say I'd never have it again in my life. Multiple parties that were seated after us received service before someone came to see if we wanted drinks. My husband's meal was incorrect (which the server did try to correct). This place used to be packed and now it's nearly empty. My only reason is they are very short staffed. They didn't have a bartender behind the bar tha last time I was there, it was the wait staff taking care of the floor and the bar so the service is very very slow. We won't come back here again. Got takeout this past weekend and when we arrived to pick it up, I stood there for 30 minutes and no one greeted me. I totally understand places are understaffed, but I literally had to search the restaurant to find my food sitting on a random table by itself. I flagged an employee and asked if I needed to sign anything or if I could just take it, and they didn't even know what I should do. Got home to enjoy my meal (which was REALLY expensive - $70 for 2 fajitas meals and chips & salsa was ridiculous), and it was undercooked and unseasoned. I have had awesome Mexican food. I know what I am talking about. Mole sauce ? It looked like a jar from a budget store that they dumped on the plate. Where is the lovely delectable chocolate coffee chile mole taste? The chicken was chewy and had been marinated in lime so the mole and lime was not! a good combo! Rice, no taste. The black beans were pretty good. The salsa was very very good! Could not enjoy it with the stale horrible chips. My Marguerita was perfect although 4$ more than what I would expect to pay. If you sit at the bar bring a thick raised pillow! Please! Put the current bar stools on marketplace and buy appropriate level stools! Will I retry it in a month or so? This restaurant used to be great and was one of my faves. Not anymore. Last time we went we were told a 15 min wait and to sit in the bar area. We were ignored for over an hour, even as tables opened and remained empty. We had to go to the hostess and remind her we were there. It was another 30 minutes to get our order taken--the waitress had clearly forgotten us. We gave it another try tonight. There were very few patrons, and numerous staff, but we were still left waiting for long periods. The outside seating in back is awful, replete with mosquitoes. The only nice thing I can say is that the homemade salsa is awesome. We won't be returning. read more

What happened? Like many others here have said, this used to be one of my favorite places. Good food, good services, good atmosphere. Was it the pandemic? Is it the labor shortage? We stood at the door for a while before someone greeted us, and even then I had to point out that a family of 4 had been waiting before us. It wasn't overly busy. The host, who looked like he was 14-15, seemed lost all night. Not to say he wasn't busy, just looked panicked like he didn't quite know what to do next. We finally sat down in an absolutely full small section right by the entrance. for some reason, more than half of the dining room (the bigger half) was closed, so 5 tables were squeezed together. That's why I'm thinking a lack of staff, even though I saw no fewer than 6 staff walking around the area, walking back and forth, but not always with any purpose. Our server was Daniel, who really tried hard keeping up with the 5 tables he was covering. I would have liked at least to have been asked if I wanted a lime, or glass, with my Corona. And I know one of the tables near us had to wait a while to get their check. He seemed overwhelmed, but he was the only one we saw that was competently working, or at least trying to, to make sure his guests were ok. We got chips and salsa right away. Daniel took our order, and the food was pretty quick coming out. I think it was the manager who brought our food out, and we didn't recognize one of the plates he was holding. He took it back to the kitchen, and Daniel came right back out with the same plate. The manager called it the wrong thing, which is why we didn't think it was ours. The food was just ok. I remember it being better. The tamales were dry, and the meat wasn't as good as I remember. I had the carne asada tacos, which I'd never ordered before. In Spanish, "carne asada" means grilled meat, usually served in strips of beef with some char on them. What I got was small cubes of beef that had never seen any flame at all. Cooked, for sure, but I've never had carne asada this way. For a place that says it's "authentic Mex without the Tex," it was disappointing. At one point, a boy came to one of the table near us, sat down, and took his phone out. I thought he was a customer, or someone waiting for takeout. After 5 minutes, he stood up and started bussing the table. I guess he was just tired and needed a sit-down. At the end of the day, what was once a go-to when we were in the neighborhood is now a no-go. Too many alternatives for better Mexican food in driving distance. It's too bad, really. read more
