Had I not looked up bakeries in the area and scoured google maps, I probably would not have found this place. The place is pretty small with seating for maybe 5 people. It's more of an order/pickup and go kind of place. Service is good and it's on a street close to a residential area so there's a lot of places for you to park. They have a variety of pastries to select from and do specialty cakes as well. Overall, the quality of the baked goods is very good, but it is quite pricey. I'm not sure the high quality can justify the item prices. read more

Lovely little bakery! We only tried the honey cake because we just popped in quickly while headed on a walk, but it was absolutely delicious! Lovely cream and cake and not too sweet! I was also tempted by the cookies and the tarts! They have a few tables and it's very cute inside. read more

Solodko's beautiful pictures on their Instagram enticed me to come visit, and their croissants did not disappoint. I tried the Rasberry Pistachio one, which was was a great balance of sweetness and tartness -- the cream filling was the star and balanced well with the crunchy exterior. I also tried several of their cookies too -- their smores' inspired one was a lot of fun with a gooey marshmallow center, but I wish their pumpkin one had a stronger pumpkin flavor. Service was fast. I had seen on Yelp that a new bakery had popped up in the no-man's land along Brooks Street - that stretch holds fond running memories for me because I take it every time I access the river, and it's made extra sweeter now that I know there's a bakery to frequent. They opened a few months back and I can't wait to try out more of their options. Raspberry almond croissant: Perfectly flaky, excellent amount of raspberry and cream filling. Could give any of the French patisseries in the area a run for their money and much, much better than the stale offerings at Tatte. Honey cake: A classic Ukrainian dessert. This was excellent and would pair wonderfully with coffee/tea. Rolling out so many thin layers of cake is a master class in precision, patience, and presentation. Pretty sure you have to do all this by hand, so the end product is certainly a labor of love. I really liked the topmost layer of crushed up biscuit-like cake bits and then all the bottom layers that take on a spongy texture with the help of the icing. We also tried the chocolate version and, while I love chocolate anything, I preferred the original honey, which didn't need anything else to elevate it. Raspberry pistachio cake: Amazing creme and raspberry filling, super neat layers, though the bottom layer of cake was noticeably dry and tough. Could be over-mixing or too much time in oven before assembling but otherwise, a fantastic dessert. The whole cakes are very pricey ($60) but definitely worthwhile for a special occasion. Be sure to check the hours before you go. The shop is set up for online ordering, including their specialty cakes in advance. Check out the "About" part of their website, the two sisters who own the bakery have a great story. Parking: Some street options right in front but if you can walk/take bus, that's preferable. read more

Rating: 1 Spartak Cake Slice (Chocolate Honey Cake) : 5/5. Not overly sweet and very delicious. 1 Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant: 1/5 Maybe I should have heat it up. I'm so excited to have a bakery in the neighborhood! It's been tough to get over here since they're not open in the morning or on Sundays, but I finally walked over on a Saturday. They had several varieties of croissants, baklava, and cake slices available. They also have drip coffee and some bottled iced coffees. I got a chocolate hazelnut and a strawberry poppyseed croissant. The person who served me was friendly and boxed them up for me to take home. The chocolate hazelnut was the favorite at my house- it oozed filling when I bit into it and the pastry was delicious and flaky. My SO brought me a piece of Spartak cake so I cannot review service or ambiance, but I know he was impressed with the bakery.The many layers of this unique chocolate cake are separated by a cream cheesy filling. Overall flavor was delicious, but the cake was a bit dry. It would probably be good with whipped cream. I plan to check out Solodko the next time I'm in Brighton. read more

i had noticed this bakery while i was waiting for the bus and decided to go in for some coffee. i also indulged in a raspberry pistachio croissant at the very last minute, which was a very good decision. the raspberry pistachio croissant was delicious! it was tarty and had a creamy filling--it's even better that they make it in-house. the ice coffee was decent, a bit too watery for me. they had a variety of different baked goods and pastries that i'm curious to try. the staff was also very friendly and helpful. i would recommend checking them out and trying their pastries! read more

Walk past this cute place all the time but only just went in today for the first time. I got the chocolate cherry croissant and it was sooo good!! The croissant itself was super buttery and flaky, and the chocolate and cherry fillings were very light and perfectly sweet. Amazing flavor combo and executed so well. 10/10 recommend!!! read more

Wonderful little bakery. Welcoming, accommodating staff. We showed up late on Saturday when most things were sold out. They didn't hesitate to cut two large cakes up so we can buy individual slices. The cakes were delicious! We especially loved the birds milk cake. We will be back! read more
