I'm giving three stars to the amazing bartenders and waitstaff. My friends and I went for the anniversary of our friend's death. They were beyond accommodating and it was so comforting. However, the cook was constantly walking by and going to his car. He was also watching us out the windows so it was a bit uncomfortable. It was awkward. I will definitely be back for the service. Just shot over to jalapeños during this covid 19 pandemic to grab some pre mixed coconut margarita mix and some apps take out, awesome as always so glad they are selling the mix, stopped at the liquor store after that to grab some 1800 coconut tequila to add to mix, mix was great enough to make 5-6 margaritas for me. read more

2.5 stars Came in for a double date (plus a baby) for dinner. Cons: -We had a whirlwind meal. Appetizers came out at the same time as our entree. Overall, we were rushed in and out. Didn't get a chance to enjoy one drink, let alone have a nice meal and enjoy a couple of drinks. -Speaking of margaritas: because it is Cinco de Mayo weekend, they won't do frozen drinks. Look, I get it, they're harder to make than on the rocks. But if it's (probably) your busiest weekend of the year, buy an extra blender and have more people working. Just because too many people want them isn't a good reason to stop making them! I ordered a beer in lieu of a margarita and someone else in my group opted for water because all she wanted was a frozen marg. -The chipotle meatballs were terrible. Meh: -I ordered the enchiladas and the sauce was excellent. However, there was barely any sauce on them. The majority of the flavors I got was from the shredded chicken inside. -Our server was too attentive. Every couple of minutes she asked if things were okay, or she'd get down and play with the baby in the high chair. We couldn't get into the swing of conversations without constantly being interrupted. Pros: -Inside has a nice vibe and there's ample parking out back -The chorizo empanadas were great Overall, I'd go again if invited, but I'd never suggest the place. Jalapeños is probably in the running for one of my favorite restaurants. If you are craving authentic Mexican, this is the place to go. Menu offers a wide variety of both food and margaritas. Atmosphere is great for a drink, a dinner, or a gathering of friends. Some of my favorite dishes are the empanadas, the chicken nachos, or taquitos. They truly have something for everyone and you really can't go wrong ordering. You'll be full by the end of your meal - but you really can't leave without ordering the churros (seriously - they have the BEST churros ever). Great food, staff, prices and atmosphere. FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! All I can say about the one and two-star reviews is that they are all lies, lies, lies. It was a beautiful day outside and my husband and I were in search of a place that has an outside seating area that we could sip on some drinks to start our weekend. We live in Norwood and decided to come over to Walpole and find a place. Side note, we are both originally from Texas and we really miss our fav Mexican restaurants. We decided to take a chance at this Mexican restaurant. The patio was in full view of the sun, which I love, and we were lucky enough to get a table. Our server, Roberto, was a gem. He was soooo nice and told us a little about himself which made him a lot more personable. For drinks we started with the Mango Mojito and the Jalepeno's Traditional Margarita. I thought the Mango Mojito was GREAT, and if it weren't for the price I would have got another one. My husband liked his Margarita. He ordered beer after that. We then ordered the guacamole and it was FRESH and DELICIOUS with just the right amount of heat!! Also, the salsa is obviously homemade. I could have asked for better chips. For a main course we tried the chorizo tacos. It was the first time we had chunks of chorizo, and it was a pleasant surprise. Normally chirizo is crumbly in our experience. The tacos were remincsent of a restaurant in Houston, TX that has the best tacos, El Rey. Very fresh and I seriously have no complaints. We will definitely be returning to try more dishes on the menu. read more

Just okay really... everything is always messy, wet, and sloppy. They always seem to have issues with Door Dash orders. They give huge portions of some things and tiny portions of other things. Also, the empanadas never seem fresh. It's okay, just don't expect to be impressed. read more

We went on 5/4. I'm not sure if the "eve" Of cinco de mayo was the issue or the fact it was a Friday night or if it was just a perfect storm of factors. The seating back up stems from Jr high hostesses (4?!) managing the list and calling your phone when they're ready. They then wait an inordinate amount of time - leaving multiple tables (5 at times) open for 30-40 minutes. Meanwhile you walk in and they tell you it's a 30-40 minute wait. See the issue? The food is fine. Nothing spectacular but fresh. The servers are working hard. I had the carnitas pork tacos special which was very fresh but could have used a bit more seasoning. Went in through the back exit and I had to ask 4 different employees for help getting seated. One just disappeared to the kitchen and didn't return then finally we got seated by a kid who looked like he was 10. While seated a worker sprayed strong scented chemical cleaning solution on surrounding tables. The smell was noxious and not something you want to smell while trying to eat. As someone who has worked in the food industry before, it continues to be a 'pet peeve' so to speak of mine when waitstaff do not write down orders. As someone with food allergies, it always has bothered me when things are not written down and come out incorrect. This has happened to me more than once here. I understand waitstaff are in a rush, but getting an order right, even if it is only two people, is important. My advice to management is to encourage waitstaff to write down orders, even for small parties. Aside from my orders not being correct, the food is just ok. The sangria is delicious and a large reason I continue to go back. I've tried the margaritas.. they are just ok. I love the atmosphere here but it does seem to be hit or miss. read more

Wow... I worked here as a bus boy for two months my freshman year of high school. Can safely say this was one of the WORST experiences of my life. Here are some examples why: 1. One day I showed up a half hour early and offered to help out. The manager had nothing for me to do in the empty restaurant so he told me to go chill out. I went over to play pool, got yelled at, and the manager gave me 25 minutes of unpaid labor. 2. The wait staff was nice to my face but some of them didn't bother to tip me (like they are supposed to at the end of the night... basically the only money I could make) after not only bussing their tables all night, but even serving food for their tables, which is super unsanitary for a bus boy to be doing. (One night they even had me pour and serve beer as a 15 year old). I was definitely one of the hardest workers in the restaurant if not the hardest worker there, and I was completely overlooked and they acted like the small tips they did give me for covering for them all night were barely deserved. They wouldn't even give me a free taco or whatever at the end of the night, and my first night, they acted like they were doing me a favor when they slid me a little bit of their disgusting food. 3. Overall super unsanitary. After being in that kitchen I would never eat there. I tried being as safe as possible with everything but nobody else was and the manager did not seem to care at all. Also the food isn't even good. 4. I couldn't even be social at the job. The night I quit, I told one of my coworkers that I was close with and still am to this day (neither of us work here anymore), that it was my last night, and I was yelled at by the manager "Papa" (yeah we had to call this guy "Papa") for allegedly standing around for 10 minutes which is simply just not true. These are my main 4 reasons for leaving. Although there were a few coworkers I enjoyed, most of them I did not. I run my own landscaping business now that I'm 17, and I use this as an example of how not to treat your employees and coworkers. Family owned business where everyone who comes in has to smile. Make sure you check out the sign next to the cash register that one of the things that will make you smile. The server comes to your table with the best homemade salsa and chips. If you call ahead and ask for the green salsa you will be pleasantly pleased. The portion are a good size, specials are excellent and the desserts great. This is a small place so do be surprised if there is a wait for a table. Take out is also available. Ok so when you first walk in everyone turns around and looks right at you... it was a little creepy. They all just stared at us while we walked through the restaurant to find our party. Maybe its a local hangout and I didn't realize it. We get to the table and my brother and his friends were already there. The table was packed, so we just kind of stand there waiting for the waitress. She comes over and tells us that she can't bring over another table right now because of something (I didn't hear her). So we all squeezed together. The margarita menu was extensive, and a bit overwhelming. I wasn't sure which one I wanted... then I spied a margarita that had some cranberry and raspberry in it, I think it was called Violet Corzo (or something like that). The fiance got the 1800. So a few minutes later she comes back with these massive glasses filled with margarita-goodness! So its been a while since I have had the opportunity to enjoy some drinks with some friends.... so when I tell you that drink was strong... IT WAS STRONG!!!! I had 4 of them and was feeling really good! hehe. The food was decent. The fiance and I shared some chicken quesedillas and the chicken fajitas. The food was alright.... it wasn't the best I have ever had. But it definitely hit the spot after some yummy margaritas. So the lack of a star, the waitress was a bit slow. At first, she was attentive and always on top of the empty glasses. But close to the end of things, I think we only saw her twice. And I really needed a water at that point. read more

Second review. We've had dinner twice in the last month. There is a restaurant side and a sports bar side, take your choice. The food is well prepared and the plates are a lot of food, so come hungry because you were going to want to eat it all. There is a good selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian. There are daily specials that may or may not be truly "daily," we just haven't gone two days in a row to check. The chips, salsa and the guacamole are all fresh. As with my past review, I am partial to more heat and more flavor, but there are two good bottled sauces at the table, which I added liberally. The big difference between my first and this review is not the restaurant, but me. I appreciate more now competent food and the time savings of someone else creating it for me. Well, I am normally a very generous yelper, but that's going to end now. I decided to give Jalapenos a chance because I love Mexican food and it always seemed to be packed. I arrived at 4:45 on a Thursday. I wasn't greeted, as there was no host/hostess to be found. After waiting for 5-10 minutes, I decided to walk into the bar and ask a server if I could be seated. He told me that I could pick any table I would like. After about 10 minutes with no service I tried the whole "I'm making eye contact with you, buddy. Get over here" to my server and it didn't work. It is out of my character to yell out to someone for service, so after sitting at the table for 20-25 minutes, with nobody offering a menu, chips or even a drink, I got up. While leaving, I found that same server who told me to sit anywhere and asked why nobody ever came to my table. He answered with a smile: "Oh, I'm sorry my friend. Please, come sit down." Nope. You had your chance. I love Mexican food like most people love their mother. You lost out on a great customer. 1 star for service. 1 star because the service was so bad that I never even got to taste the food. I'll consider giving them another shot in the future. As a lover of Mexican, it is great to have a local place in Walpole. Aside from the margaritas, I find the quality of the food at Jalapeno's less than mediocre. The prices are quite high for not only the portions, but the quality. I would like to give a shutout to the bartenders, as they are always friendly and welcoming. I want this to be a zero star rating but can't .. Awful is the one word to describe Jalapeno's. I always tip well but our waitress was trying for a zero tip. But beyond the slow or non-existent service the food was awful too. So when your in Walpole and want Mexican food go to Taco Bell it may not be good but at least it won't cost you $100. read more

Service was good, one guy was running around the entire restaurant but was incredibly attentive. there aren't a ton of options for mexican in the area so this is a great little local spot. prices are spot on for the food and drink read more

We ordered the Tacos Al Pastor and I have to say it's as close to real mexican as you can get. The soft taco shells almost feel handmade and the fillings were tasty. I just wish they had more sauces to put on it like the restaurants in Mexico do. read more

Very poor service. Have been coming here for a few years, but the service has steadily declined. Tonight we arrived earlyish (6:00 PM). The restaurant was relatively empty. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. The waitress brought us drinks and water after we waited another 10 minutes. My drink came without the salt I had ordered. It was replaced in the same glass with salt hastily applied. The food came in record time, but it was cold and sloppily prepared. Despite this, I had ordered a second drink. It never came. Luckily we weren't charged, but I would have enjoyed another one. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
