Large pizza with ham, pineapple and black olives.
    Terrence S.

The food quality has gone downhill since the business was "bought out". Pizza crust seems like Boboli from a grocery store. I've been going here for over 12 years, so this is disappointing. I got a large pizza this time; great job on the extra sauce request and toppings, but the crust is not from hand-made dough, and is surely pre-made store bought.

Stopped in for dinner. This place has been around for a long time, but it's been ages since I last visited. We were greeted and seated quickly by the hostess when we entered., it's one large open space with a bar area/dining room, and more seating upstairs. The interior is what you'd expect for a "saloon", with a very strong western feel. That being said though, with the one large open space it gets pretty loud in there, and at that point no one was being seated upstairs, so I imagine when it's full it's going to be hard to carry a conversation. They offer a pretty extensive menu, soups, salads, pizzas, tacos, burgers, seafood and much more. I decided to try the meatloaf, with mashed potatoes, and the veggie of the day, broccoli. Food came out quickly, and the portions were very impressive. The meatloaf was good, but a lot more than I could comfortably finish, so had some to take home. Overall, it was a good dinner, just a bit loud when trying to have a conversation with father who is getting up there in age. Still good food, and would recommend checking out

I've lived in Norfolk my whole life and have eaten at EBS several times since they opened in the early 80's. The food has been good on most occasions, but I can't let this one go without saying something. My daughter put in a take out order last night (9/18/25) and asked if I wanted anything. I had her order me a seafood stuffy for $9.95. A bit pricey I thought, but it sounded good. I know EBS is not necessarily known for seafood, but I figured it would be good based on past experiences. What I received was a "tiny" extremely burnt unacceptable excuse for a restaurant stuffed quahog. Please see the photos. I've had much better frozen stuffies from the supermarket. Shame on the cook for moving this along on a takeout order. I tried but it was not edible. Right in the trash. Dan Howard, 9/19/25

It's a local legend. Best Bar Pizza hands down. Great atmosphere , good vibe, good people. Plenty of tables , tv etc to accommodate friends meeting for a drink or families getting a quick dinner. Carolyn is the best!!!

Since the change in ownership its no longer a place worth driving too. The food is on par with what Cumberland Farms sells.

Outstanding New England food and hospitality…read more The steak tips were the best I've ever had -- perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and tender. The crinkle-cut fries were fried to crispy perfection. The quahog and chowder get a true New England stamp of approval (I grew up here and now live in the Philly area, so I know what I'm talking about). The fish and chips portions were enormous, golden, crispy, and delicious. Even though the inside was packed, the staff cranked up the heaters and gave us the patio all to ourselves, which was a great touch and showed how much they care about their guests. The place has a classic New England feel, bringing back memories of growing up camping at Normandy Farms down the road. The owners were welcoming and genuinely hospitable, which really set this place apart. Fantastic food, nostalgic vibes, and top-notch hospitality. On to see the Tom Brady statue -- Go Pats!

It came with a complimentary PILE of thin pickle slices and pickled onions and they threw in a cornbread with a honey butter. The rub on the ribs was delicious in it's own right, and both barbeque sauces were a joy. There was a more traditional zingy barbeque sauce and a sweeter one. The pickles made me very very happy. The corn bread and butter was honestly the star though - I was so surprised. Corn bread is not an automatic favorite for me, by any means. We ordered at the take away counter, but we ate in and were given full table service. Once we got past our confusion regarding the table service it was very pleasant. The eating area was cute. I love the cow wall paper (and the chicken wallpaper in the bathroom) But the bench seating was a little weird and a little too high for the table. There was a TV on showing the game, but it wasn't super loud. We felt like the food was worth the price. Check the patriots schedule before you go - it gets caught in game day traffic. We would certainly come here again - but not on a game day.

Everything is à la carte in the ordering is a bit confusing: your first order is over-the-counter, but additional items may be ordered through a server. -- Ribs: Full spareribs with the tips intact and a nice taper at the edges. Creative presentation as individual bones stacked up, with lime wedges and herbs. Very coarse Texas style rub that had bold, captivating peppery flavor, but a little ashy from either a long hold or a reheat. Cross sections dry, though moist inside. Tender and somewhat smoky. Very good, but these would be killer if fresh. -- Wings: Smoked and fried, served naked by design, with sauces on the side. A little Shake-and-Bake-like, not that moist, and not that flavorful. Like a poor man's Rusty Can wings. -- Brisket: This seemed relatively fresh, but cookled quickly. Quality varied greatly depending on which slice you took and where you bit. Some bites perfect. Some bites dry. All had impactful flavor from both rub and smoke. Good bark, good tenderness and wobble, at least on the parts from the point. -- Pulled Pork: Molded into a gray and depressing softball, but it felt and tasted better than it looked. Most of it luscious and moist, though borderline mushy and could use some firmer or barkier pieces for contrast. Flavor subtle. Not that warm. -- Sausage: This house-made link gushed juices on contact and had screaming flavor and great texture (soft, hinting at pebbly, but still intact), but barely room temperature. Would've been elite if warmer. -- Coleslaw: Decent. Crisp, lightly dressed, neither sweet nor tart. Fairly tame. -- Cornbread: Fantastic coarse texture and brown butter flavor, but a little on the stiff side. Molasses butter on the side was like a frosting and it worked fabulously. I'd pay to know when I can have a hot one. -- Sauces: They've got a dark brown barbecue and a red tangy one. Both are pretty good, but better when mixed. -- Service: Mostly young kids doing the order taking and food running, and all were very nice. Overall, I'd say the meal was good for sure, but this place has so much potential to be great. If a few things were a little warmer or a little fresher, they'd be among the top handful in New England. Even as-is, they're not too far off.

The food and service were not up to snuff, as our waitress was rather slow and inattentive. The salad I ordered was STILL not correct in that it featured items which I specifically asked to be removed. I did note that my salad was brought out in a bowl and not a sheet pan, which was an improvement over last time. The thing was that there were less than 10 people in the restaurant at the time as we arrived around noontime and I would have thought that the waitstaff would have had the time to attend to us in a proper fashion, but they were content to mill about close to the bar area. The drinks were OK and though not spectacular, were still good and met with my expectations. Apparently, management has yet to take appropriate steps to ensure that the waitstaff is attentive and the food is brought out properly. My wife ordered things that were more in line with this restaurant's strengths and she thought everything was fine, but as with the last time I was here, it seemed that little attention was paid to dishes that are not fried or battered in some way. While I realize that it is impossible to be all things to all people, when I order something at a restaurant, I expect it to be perfect considering the prices. All in all, I will not be returning to this place unless some serious improvements are made not only in the quality of the dishes, but in the attentiveness of the staff.
