This wasn't what I expected. First it was packed - so glad we had reservations - they take them on Resy! It's much smaller and casual than I expected. It's has more of a take out feel than a sit down restaurant- but it is a sit down restaurant. The service was super slow - took a while for anyone to come over - we noticed so ordered everything all at once. Took a while to get drinks. We ordered apps - they came with our main food - that always irks me! We had a mix of boils and fried food and the boils were way ahead of the other food. Also terrible when you're in a group. The food quality and flavor were good! But service and atmosphere wasn't something I would run back to.... It's got potential...but needs to be a run a bit better - seems like they do a lot of takeout and my guess is they let that make your in restaurant experience not as good. The none seafood options are pretty basic - but doable. No pics of other stuff, because I already had my gloves on and was too messy to take pics once the other stuff came! read more

This was my first experience at The Shaking Crab, and unfortunately it will also be my last at this location. From the moment we were seated, our waitress was not welcoming or accommodating. She never checked in to see how our meal was or asked if we needed anything, including drink refills. When we politely asked if it was possible to try a small sample of the sauces before ordering, we were told the kitchen "wouldn't be willing to do that" and that it was a rule. However, on my ride home, I called another Shaking Crab location and was told they do provide small samples for customers to try, which made the response at this location even more frustrating and inconsistent. Additionally, within my direct field of view, I noticed what appeared to be a kitchen employee using his phone, wearing AirPods, and not wearing gloves in a food service environment. I'm not sure whether he was actively cooking or on break, but either way it was extremely unprofessional and honestly made me uncomfortable thinking about how the food was being handled. As for the food itself, the seafood was overcooked, and the portions were not reasonable for the prices being charged. To make matters worse, I observed multiple waitresses sitting at a table doing nothing, when they could have been assisting customers and ensuring everyone was having a pleasant dining experience. Overall, this visit was very disappointing. For a first-time Shaking Crab customer, this experience left a bad impression, and I will not be returning to this location. read more

Shaking Crab has gone downhill each time we try it. We tried it in Boston Amazing!! Newton location worse. So we thought we would try the new location in Foxboro as a double date. 1.) They took at-least 15-20 minutes with our drinks and the place is small! 2.) They didn't have few beers on the menu because they didn't have the tap installed..but didn't have it crossed out. 3.) They again didn't have a lot of the food / sides on the menu. Was so disappointing! I pre read a review and agree this location opened up earlier than they should've. For a seafood place you need to make sure you have what your selling on the menu. Was so disappointing probably our last time trying Shaking Crab since each time the experience get worse every time. Had dinner here tonight with my husband. Definitely enjoyed our food and were pleasantly surprised by the awesome service. We usually order the bags with seafood mixed in, and it never disappoints. I really like that they let me switch out the muscles and shrimp to just have all crab. Envie medium spice is what we used for our bags and it was delicious. We had fun listening to the old school jams too but if you don't like old school hip hop, just know they like 96.9 in this restaurant. It was nice to see all of the waitstaff and cooking crew happy looking at their job and having such a healthy looking vibe with one another; feel like you don't get to see that much anymore at places since the pandemic.
