Nachos (no protein, but the pulled pork on them is delicious)
    Erica E.

Hands down the best nachos around. The cheese sauce and guacamole are both made daily. So fresh tasting and an enormous helping. I like the way the sandwiches don't come with a side. We ordered one full order of fries for the table and it's plenty!

Great service. Easy to park and get to. Limited menu but everything was done well . These were more like smash burgers, but very good. Sweet potato fries were excellent . It's a basic burger and sandwich type place- but they do a very good job with what their speciality is.

Buttermilk chicken sandwich and yummy fries

My daughter goes to college in the area and when we moved her in last year my husband and I enjoyed dinner here. This year, move in was less chaotic and we took our daughter here with us for lunch. We were warmly greeted and seated. Food is top quality. Nice menu too. Lots of options. Something for everyone. I will say my family is not a fan of the local soda they serve. It doesn't have much flavor. My orange soda didn't taste orangey. My husband ordered cheese fries, my daughter ordered a tasty fiesta chicken sandwich loaded with avocado, pico and pepper jack cheese, and I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. All fresh and delicious. Their fries are excellent also. Make sure to order some. Can't wait to come back and try something new!

This is my favorite burger, ever, and this is the first place I ever had it. Banana, applewood smoked bacon & creamy peanut butter with an added runny egg and syrup. 10/10. We had the same waitress and I adore her. Great personality and service, as always. I love how the restaurant has opened up more space since we went when they first opening. Every table has enough space or you can sit at their good sized bar. It's a little out of the way unless you're going to a concert or even at Great Woods but it's worth the trip!

We've been long time fans of Mac & Walt's. For a smaller restaurant they have a great section of beer, bourbon & whiskey. I was able to get the last pour of a Lot B for $30. That's a very reasonable price for that bottle. We've never had an issue with service and they are more than accommodating with any requests. I appreciate the simple cozy feel inside. Some lights are made of empty bottles and adds a nice touch. The food is always good and the burgers / buns are amazing. Tonight's meal was one of the best. The Nachos were good and the onion rings are some of the best around. Can't wait to go back. Cheers!

    Gonna git my poutine!!!

Hello, I come mainly for the poutine , they do a good job. The rest of the menu is outstanding as well. Waitstaff are all awesome. But, you'd have to appreciate loud 70's music, which I don't.....anymore. and they have to replace those seats, sooo uncomfortable

Came for a quick bite. Ordered a bunch of appetizers to try out. Seatings are pretty comfy, service was nice and quick. Chicken was lack of flavors. Came with thin slices of carrot and celery. Not impressed. Corn bread was delicious and moist. Great texture! Pretzels were really good. No pic taken. They were gone in a min. Overall was a solid B.

    Raspberry Lime Ricky (alcoholic)

I came back for dinner tonight with a group of 15 and what a better experience. Our host preordered a bunch of food served family style. The honey mustard chicken was delicious. I liked the nachos, sweet potato fries, and cheeseburger sliders too. Had the Raspberry Lime Ricky again and it was still tasty.

    Shrimp and grits

I love Mac and walts for the flights!! But I also love their burgers, but I had a burger for lunch so I went with the chicken Wings and cornbread, they were very good, the maple butter that comes with the cornbread is delicious and it helped moisten the cornbread which was a tad on the dry side. My husband got the shrimp and grits and he loves it, tells everyone if you want shrimp and grits got to Mac and walts. We really want to try dessert but we are always too full!!

Enjoyed the food and beer that are homely and filling. This is not a fancy dining ambiance but nice stop in after work.

Hi, looking for a restaurant for a birthday party for September 6 or 7. Didn't know if our restaurant offers this? Thank you

Hi Donna, we do take reservations for groups of 6-15, but don’t have a designated function space or private area. Guest do have birthday parties here but bring their own birthday cakes and a few balloons to put on the chairs. I hope this helps.… Read more

    Is there any outdoor seating?

Yes, there is a small area outside with umbrellas on each of the three or four tables.

Is this " family friendly"? I don't' drink alcohol and have 3 kids. I'd love to try the food but wasn't sure if it's more of a bar.

Hi Bethany. We do welcome kids and families. The restaurant is small and the bar and dining room are in the same space though. We offer a kids menu and have plenty of non alcoholic options to choose from. There are plenty of families with kids… Read more

If you go, the tenders are an absolute must- we got 2 orders to go as well! We also got the chocolate pistachio martini and the Neil's lullaby alcoholic drinks- both amazing. My dad got 2 of the Neil's because it was so good. My mom's entree was fish and chips which was perfect. There wasn't a lot of extra batter on it which was great. My dad got the clam chowder bread bowl and barbecued steak tips and coleslaw. Both were incredible obviously. I got the smokehouse chicken sandwich which was, again, incredible. Lastly, we split one of their specials of the day which was toffee pudding with mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was so yummy but I didn't like the texture of the bread pudding (just my own weird thing, the flavor was still great). Their portions are HUGEEEEEE so you'll definitely need to-go boxes and extra room in the fridge. I saved my appetite all day to eat here and it was most definitely worth it. The service was great, all of the staff were very friendly. We went during the lunch rush on a Saturday so we had to wait about 30 minutes for inside seating. They do have outdoor tent seating with heat but we liked the look of the place inside and really wanted to sit there. We will absolutely be coming here again soon!

Deep red walls, wide-plank floors, framed portraits of people long gone, a fireplace; this place has the kind of character you simply can't manufacture. Add a live jazz duo playing piano and upright bass in the corner and the atmosphere is close to perfect. We settled in at the bar, which has a decent whiskey selection, and started with cocktails. We also shared the kale and butternut squash salad; we asked them to add a goat cheese medallion from their spinach salad, and honestly it was the right call. That bright, creamy note was exactly what the salad needed...or maybe what I needed. I do love fried goat cheese on a salad. Either way, it was perfect. Then came the cranberry rolls, which were the quiet star of the afternoon; crunchy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside. Don't skip these. For mains, I had the breakfast skillet, which is essentially everything but the kitchen sink loaded into a cast iron pan. Heavily loaded with meat (Arby's would be jealous), homefried potatoes with satisfying crusty bits, a couple over medium eggs, and served sizzling hot. The cheese sauce draped over the top was lighter than you'd expect, landing somewhere between a béarnaise and a classic cheese sauce; it kept the whole thing from getting too heavy. It took a while to work through, and that's not a complaint. My partner had the butternut squash and brown butter sage ravioli. It was well-cooked, flavorful, not too rich, though a little more sage would have put it over the top. The bartender had a good sense of humor and clearly knew his way around the bar. The problem was that he was doing too much; he appeared to be his own bar back, serving the six people at the bar, waiting on the tables within the lounge area, and it appeared he was covering other tables outside of the lounge area as well. He was often away, and with salad plates, appetizer plates, and menus sitting in front of us long after they were needed, the clutter added up. Pre-bussing costs nothing and makes a real difference. Tighten up the staffing model and this place is a very easy five. If you're in the area, you should stop in and check it out for yourself. I'm not sure if the jazz duo on Sunday brunch is a regular occurrence, but if it is, you should definitely make a point of it. They were wrapping up around 2:30-3:00 and it made the whole afternoon feel like something a little more special than just brunch.

We split the crispy calamari as our appetizer--a deluxe take on a classic. I had the chicken tenders as my entree, and liked the consistency. Not too greasy and not too tough...common pitfalls elsewhere. The honey mustard was a winner, though I loved the BBQ sauce too. My date said she enjoyed her spare ribs as well. Street parking was available right out front. Our waitress was patient about checking dish options for my dairy allergy. Noise level inside was great for a date-not too loud, not too quiet. Good vibes amongst other patrons and staff. Service was friendly and attentive, and she seemed fine with us lingering over our coffees in lieu of dessert. (No dairy-free option.) I've been a few times over the years and always remembered it as a solid local spot. My bagel sandwich was simple but good, and the dulce de leche latte was definitely on the sweeter side, but that was expected based on what I ordered. The biggest miss for us was the chicken and waffles. The waffle itself was actually really good, but the chicken was way too thick and underseasoned, so it completely overpowered the dish instead of balancing with it. There was also an overwhelming amount of butter on the plate that felt a little excessive. What really dropped the rating though was the coffee refill tasting burned. At a brunch spot especially, coffee feels like one of the easiest things to consistently get right, so it was disappointing when something that simple missed the mark. I really wanted to love the experience because the space has so much potential, but overall it just didn't fully live up to what I was hoping for.
