I have been to Mac and walt's a handful of times. I rave over them! Until last night... We had tickets to a Mansfield show so Mac and walt's was a great option. Bummer- they do not take reservations for parties of 4 or smaller. We did get in early enough. no issues getting seated. Out waitress, Sophie, was bubbly and friendly. I was super disappointed to see the menu changed greatly since the last time I visited. No more "Baby Got Mac' or fun names of the food items. Dulled down menu. Let me tell you, That baby got mas was DELICIOUS!!! And I am super sad this specialty meal that I have found nowhere else is no longer a thing. I spoke to the waitress and we worked out making a replica with an order of mac and cheese. But it was delivered as a cheeseburger. She apologized and then the meal came out as mac and cheese but they forget the onion strings. I can share- this was massively lacking the flavor that the old Baby Got Mac had. I mean night and day! This makes me sad. Another issue, the waitress asked if I wanted a box and I said yes. She disappeared with my food. She threw it out! When I adressed it with her she apologized, made a comment about going in the bathroom to cry but she did take it off the bill. Overall- Mac and Walt's us to be a top tier place to eat in my opinion but affter last night, I think the place has definitely changed and not as good as it used to be. Sad day. read more

Hubby and I have been on the hunt for good wings lately, so I came here to Yelp and the review for Mac & Walts were good & I saw the Shrimp & Grits and was ready to go. We ordered a ton of things, Menu is extensive, and the food was good, but nothing was OMG I need to have this again, The shrimp and grits were just ok. Hands down the best nachos around. The cheese sauce and guacamole are both made daily. So fresh tasting and an enormous helping. I like the way the sandwiches don't come with a side. We ordered one full order of fries for the table and it's plenty! read more

My daughter goes to college in the area and when we moved her in last year my husband and I enjoyed dinner here. This year, move in was less chaotic and we took our daughter here with us for lunch. We were warmly greeted and seated. Food is top quality. Nice menu too. Lots of options. Something for everyone. I will say my family is not a fan of the local soda they serve. It doesn't have much flavor. My orange soda didn't taste orangey. My husband ordered cheese fries, my daughter ordered a tasty fiesta chicken sandwich loaded with avocado, pico and pepper jack cheese, and I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. This is my favorite burger, ever, and this is the first place I ever had it. Banana, applewood smoked bacon & creamy peanut butter with an added runny egg and syrup. 10/10. We had the same waitress and I adore her. Great personality and service, as always. I love how the restaurant has opened up more space since we went when they first opening. Every table has enough space or you can sit at their good sized bar. It's a little out of the way unless you're going to a concert or even at Great Woods but it's worth the trip! read more

We've been long time fans of Mac & Walt's. For a smaller restaurant they have a great section of beer, bourbon & whiskey. I was able to get the last pour of a Lot B for $30. That's a very reasonable price for that bottle. We've never had an issue with service and they are more than accommodating with any requests. I appreciate the simple cozy feel inside. Some lights are made of empty bottles and adds a nice touch. The food is always good and the burgers / buns are amazing. Tonight's meal was one of the best. We live in the next town over and discovered this little place one night when we were desperate for a good smash burger. Since then we've probably come once a month to satisfy that craving. Cozy and comfortable, we're eaten at both the bar and at the tables, and every time the staff is great. The burgers are always fantastic and messy in the best way. I love Mac and walts for the flights!! But I also love their burgers, but I had a burger for lunch so I went with the chicken Wings and cornbread, they were very good, the maple butter that comes with the cornbread is delicious and it helped moisten the cornbread which was a tad on the dry side. My husband got the shrimp and grits and he loves it, tells everyone if you want shrimp and grits got to Mac and walts. We really want to try dessert but we are always too full!! read more

Okay.... I don't know what's up with all the good reviews because this place was NOT It. Ordered a chicken sandwich, 1/2 order of fries, and soft Pretzel for pick up... the soft pretzels were the only thing I liked and finished!!! And the cheese for the pretzels was a weird consistency (barely liked the cheese really just the Pretzels). I could NOT finish he chicken sandwich. The bread was soggy, the chicken was undercooked & not good, not taste to it at all.... The fries were definitely undercooked even tho they were brown. I hate fries that look like that anyway. Stopped in for dinner on a Monday night and was very pleasantly surprised with our experience. Start to finish, everything was awesome. The food is so reasonably priced, as well! This was our first time visiting the restaurant, we arrived mid afternoon, so after the lunch rush, but before dinner. We waited 30 minutes without anyone coming over to us, after 30 minutes, we came to the conclusion that our waiter or waitress does not know they have us as a table, my husband went to the host saying no one has come over to us, not even passing by letting us know they would be over soon. Disappointed it took us having to go to the hostess desk just to be waited on, awkward position for us, and the waitress seemed far from apologetic. She just said I have a lot of tables, which I understand but if that is the case as you're passing by, just tell the party that so they're not just sitting there for 30 minutes wondering what to do. Food - The Korean Brussel Sprouts were awesome. One of the best sprout dishes we've had. I'll need to order every time we go back. My wife got a basic cheddar burger and liked it. We got take-out and ordered the Baby Got Mac burger which was a beefburger sandwiched between crusty slices of mac & cheese and also with candied bacon, onion rings, and a cheesy sauce. Definitely tasty and all-American, but probably not recommended for someone on a low-cholesterol diet. We also had a Reuben Sandwich which my wife liked. Prices were very fair as well. The one slightly off-note were the Shishito Peppers appetizer (see photo). They weren't bad, but nothing special.
