When having dinner at Wendell's... you should totally cross the street (wait- Don't! Just drive across. Last night I was almost run over holding my 3 years old's hands as some idiot sped up approaching us!) Bog Iron was all decked out for the holidays! Plenty of colored lights in a grid pattern following the ceiling tiles. I thought- I feel bad for whatever employee had to hand all thee lights! There was a big screen with a cozy winter image and a large inflatable penguin (that my son sparred with.) But generally looking into the decor, there are some interesting pieces of furniture. We were lucky enough to score the 2 couches. My husband and his father were able to have some birthday beers. The kids and I split a chocolate chip cookie in a skillet with vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately we ordered 2 but they did not have enough cookie dough to make 2. Luckily 1 was plenty. Super chocolatey and hit the spot. The guys commented the beer was good. read more

The vibes here are immaculate and the bartenders are all such sweeties. I really enjoy the outdoor space they've created, and am loving all the food they've added to their menu! I've tried the chorizo dip and really enjoyed it as well as a chicken bacon ranch pizza or flatbread and it was great. This is the only place that I drink beer. I generally don't like it that much but they have two brews that I enjoy quite a bit. For non beer drinkers, their seltzers are also really tasty and have that beer kind of undertone to them, which I personally like. read more

In town for a Softball tournament, NE Finest Fall showcase. Looking for something close to Taunton to have a beer and clear my head before Team dinner. This is super close and an outdoor area that is super nice with a large indoor space. I ordered the Pumpkin Envy. Came in a cold mug and beer was pretty good. No food is the only downfall and no Food Trucks. If they could get food in here, this would be perfect location for a team to come in after games. The space is large and able to accommodate large groups. Here during the day, but could see nights here super nice with the lighting and the indoor space. They've always had good beer here with a wide variety of styles, and starting this past weekend, they opened their on-site kitchen. The pizzas were fantastic, especially the crispy pancetta/basil, and the pepperoni. Make sure to have the hot honey drizzle added to either of those. My daughter loved the baked soft pretzel with beer cheese (and she's quite the pretzel critic). Do yourself a favor and try the Chorizo Skillet Dip....you'll be glad you did. Looking forward to sitting out on the patio and trying one of the panini's with a couple pints of Freedom (one of their newer beers). read more

Made my first trip to Bog Iron this weekend with my fiance and another couple. Friends who live in the area frequent this spot, so we finally got to see what it was all about! Loved that it is dog friendly (even inside!!). Plenty of seating options - we started inside, then switched to an igloo when one became available. Lots of beer choices - I stuck with the IPAs which were pretty good. Also good food options - 3/4 of us got the 2 hotdog option - many different types. Yum! Not too expensive either. Excellent "Biergarten" experience at Bog Iron Brewing. I sampled two drinks -- a cream ale and a peach hard seltzer -- in the brewery's new outdoor music-filled seating area. In addition, I tried a Chicago-style hot dog and the lobster roll from the caterer in residence. The cream ale called "35 Cats" was excellent and refreshing during the warm afternoon on which I visited. The hard seltzer called "Fine! Hard Seltzer" was so much better than "fine" and a million times tastier than any seltzer I ever had. They offer three fruit flavors, but recommended the peach as the one I try first. The food was very tasty. The pickles it came with are homemade. I asked for very little mayo on the lobster roll and it was very good and just what I wanted. Because this place has been discovered, there was a thirty minute wait at around 4 pm. But, well worth the wait! They text you when your table is ready. I look forward to my next visit! read more

Nice little spot on main road in Norton. Only had two beers and sat out on patio watching traffic go by, but would have been longer day if I wasn't driving. First beer was the mild but this English style does not do well carbonated and frozen to fit the US 'coors' palate. Would be a nice beer served on cask at cellar temperature as the malts would come through but not very noteworthy served this way. Learning my lesson I took the Frank From Akron barrel aged porter. Really complex barley wine that was bold and delicious. Unfortunately they had none to take away but will be back to get more and maybe sample the IPAs when I can, as not far from work and hotel. read more

Love this place. Been here twice now, nice sitting area in the tap room, dog friendly, and great fresh beer and conversation. No frills, just a friendly, comfortable place. Both times pup and I warmly greeted and served by friendly and knowledgeable barkeep. No food served here, so bring your own if you want to munch, and sample away. read more

Came here on a whim before closing one Friday night. The staff who was on was so friendly and welcoming and didn't make us feel rushed even though they were closing within 30-40 minutes. Decor - lovely. You can tell they put a lot of work and time into this place. It's such a chill place to sit, unwind and have a fantastic beer. We stopped here on a whim and the place was packed! We got two flights to try 8 different beers and there was not one place to put them down or sit which is fine it was crowded but it seemed like they way they have seating is kind of a waste of space. They have two couches near a fire place which is cozy but takes up a lot of room instead of placing a few tables so more people can sit. I loved the sign that said no WiFi talk to each other and pretend that it's 1995! I thought that was hilarious and we did end up meeting and talking to a nice couple. They also allow dogs which was super cute. We liked the beer but didn't love any of them and didn't have one that would make us travel out of our way for. They have a coffee stout that coffee drinkers will love and I liked their blonde best. read more

If I were to say that this was our first choice this evening I would be lying. We first tried another brewery close by but they were closed for vacation. We stumbled upon this one on Yelp and it was perfect. We just wanted a spot to meet some friends to catch up and grab a beer before we headed out to dinner. The brewery is small but has some amazing touches. The staff, busy, yet still accommodating and friendly. They had a bunch of beer on tap but I went with the porter. It was delicious! I had a great time at this place! It's pretty small, with limited seating, but that's typically expected with breweries like this. The staff was personable and helpful. Once in a while my friends and I venture out of Rhode Island to check out some breweries. This place has been well spoken of and is on draft at a lot of mass. Restaurants. We went on a Saturday and man it was packed. This is not just a brewery where folks grab a growler and go. This is a local bar where there are plenty of regulars. Everyone there knows each other ; the bartender/pourer greeted most folks by name. The three of us grabbed a sample rack and scored one of the few seats left. It's a decent sized spot but again very busy. It's a good problem for a place to have. We all enjoyed the beers we sampled. They have a live feed on a tv to make sure the offerings are up to date which is helpful. They have all kinds of beers to try so there is something for everyone. The one I loved I think was called sweet mistress. It's dark and lovely. It was a great time hanging out there and kicking back some brews. I'd recommend it for sure. And my fellow Rhode Islanders ... just go there. It's not as far as you think. read more

I walked into Bog Iron's tasting room a few Saturdays ago and though I was walking into a bar. The place was jumping and the room had a great energy. I had a flight of five that I shared with my wife and took home a growler of their Middle Child IPA which was excellent. While getting the growler I noticed they had a bottled beer that is aged in Chardonnay barrels. Sounded interesting, but seemed pricey to buy blind. When I mentioned to the bartender that I guess I couldn't try that one since it's bottled, she quickly said no problem and proceed to open one up and give samples out. Good move on her part because a bottle ended up in my bag and I'm waiting for a good time to open it up! I will definitely be back to Bog Iron when I'm in the area. read more

I love this micro brewery. First of all the atmosphere is always great. It is a small tasting room that they have expanded but it still is very intimate. The bartenders are friendly as are the patrons. Most importantly I really like the way all the varieties of beer turn out. They have a real solid lineup and the evidence is in the regulars that frequent the place. However if you only go once in a while like me it's not like you feel out of place. read more

Bog Iron Brewing makes good beer! So good that the demand exceeds the capacity. They already have 85 accounts. That's usually a good problem and hopefully solved by future expansion. They are located right near Wheaton College and those kids are lucky if they are tapping into the fresh suds here. Over 21 of course! The tap room is pretty cozy with only a few tables and a couch although the bar seats a dozen or so. Unfortunately they cannot offer tables outside as the lease wont allow it. It was nice out yesterday so that would have been cool. No TV was another small negative as I love to watch the Sox while I imbibe. No TV however makes for some good conversations at the bar and that's always a positive. I was able to score a tour of the brewery with one of the co owners and his approach of managed growth made sense. The focus here is on making consistently great beers and for that they do get a 5 star. Their coasters say hand forged ales and lagers and for sure these beers are carefully crafted. I started with the Stinger a 7.4 IPA with a slight hoppy bite up front then ending with a silky smooth finish. Its made with locally sourced honey. I got another one, it's that good. At $5.50 for a 16 oz pint prices are friendly as compared to most other breweries. For my second beer I upped the anti and the ABV to the Middle Child which is a 9.5% double IPA. It has a slightly sweet overtone, again the honey, not too hoppy just a damn tasty brew with a kick. A youngish guy bought a case of it while we were there. Not sure if this is in stores but to me this Middle Child is one to save for a trade or what probably happened it was eagerly consumed at a good dorm party. Miss them days! Tasted the sour called Big Tart and boy oh boy is it ever but surprisingly very refreshing. I am not usually a sour guy but I liked this. Definately need to come back to try the other beers. I will bet a 100 somethings that they are all winners. read more

For a tiny place that can only brew a few barrels at a time, they have a great selection (something like 9 beers on tap) and were absolutely hoping. Everyone who came in was offered the full round of samples, the brewers chatted with everyone about beer and life, and gave everyone a sample of a newly finished batch just because we were there. Don't let the taproom's size fool you. This brewery delivers the goods, big time. Bog Iron is a great place to hang out, and serves up perhaps the most diverse variety of brews around. The establishment is welcoming, with personable staff behind the bar. Their beers are smooth and packed with flavor (The Joe stout I had recently and loved it). Longtime brewers, the Bog Iron staff rounds the bases in terms of types of brews, which not all of the local brewers do. This place is phenomenal. The fact that it was packed at 7 PM on a Wednesday night is a testament to the solid brews that this place is churning out. Reasonably priced, especially when you consider the quality of what they're pouring. I highly recommend the Burly Blonde (a session beer for alcoholics), as well as the Stinger/Middle Child IPAs - everything I tried (all 6 beers that were on tap) were very well balanced. The place was a little cramped, but the gentlemen working the taps never left you waiting for a pint, even though they were more than happy to "talk shop". Interesting mix of 30+ beer geeks, and college students from nearby Wheaton. I think this place is going to become my new Wednesday night tradition! I love this brewery! I love everything it stands for, and of course the beer! The beer is excellent! Bog Iron makes many different types of beer. The Stinger IPA is my favorite. They also come out with test batches pretty frequently. The owners are all really nice. The bar tenders are excellent. Really down to earth people who you can tell really like what they do. The only thing I can see that would be negative is the size of the place, but when you're cranking out excellent beer like they do, I don't care how small the place is! read more
