This was just fantastic. Our order was 6 ribs, collards and a tall boy of green mountain. It came with a complimentary PILE of thin pickle slices and pickled onions and they threw in a cornbread with a honey butter. The rub on the ribs was delicious in it's own right, and both barbeque sauces were a joy. There was a more traditional zingy barbeque sauce and a sweeter one. The pickles made me very very happy. The corn bread and butter was honestly the star though - I was so surprised. Corn bread is not an automatic favorite for me, by any means. We ordered at the take away counter, but we ate in and were given full table service. Once we got past our confusion regarding the table service it was very pleasant. The eating area was cute. I love the cow wall paper (and the chicken wallpaper in the bathroom) But the bench seating was a little weird and a little too high for the table. I used to frequent the Red Wing restaurant for decades and the scallop plate with onion rings always outstanding. Now Blondie have done a great job updating and improving the restaurant, dining areas, and turned the location into a welcoming BBQ restaurant. I have been wanting to stop in to try as I eat at all the bbq spots . I order ala carte a sausage, the smoked wings, small order of ribs, a side of shells and cheese. The ribs were very good and meaty and fall ofc the bone tender. The wings had a nice smoke flavor and heavy dry rub seasoning. found the dry rub a bit too much for me and wax more Texan or Kansas city style vs Carolina or Georgia style . A bit dry but with a dip in bbq sauce, they were good. The sausage was dry and expected more juice dripping out . The shells and cheese was very good with the shells cooked perfect, cheese and the toast crunch season on top was a plus. They offer free cold water which is courteous as I want in mood lunchtime for a Texas state beer. The girl at the counter taking my order was especially helpful guiding me how to order and checked on me twice to see how all was after I was served. I think this is a nice addition to the area and a real deal barbecue spot smoking the meat real deal. I'd like to see more options or specials ...burnt ends , a corn on cob summer option, cucumber salad or other sides, a honey biscuit or real deal cornbread with smoked corn kernels in the mix, A smoke biscuit and grilled shrimp tacos ? Promising new(ish) barbecue joint in the former Red Wing Diner location. Impressive collection of offset smokers on the side of the building, plus a decorative one out front. Everything is à la carte in the ordering is a bit confusing: your first order is over-the-counter, but additional items may be ordered through a server. -- Ribs: Full spareribs with the tips intact and a nice taper at the edges. Creative presentation as individual bones stacked up, with lime wedges and herbs. Very coarse Texas style rub that had bold, captivating peppery flavor, but a little ashy from either a long hold or a reheat. Cross sections dry, though moist inside. Tender and somewhat smoky. Very good, but these would be killer if fresh. -- Wings: Smoked and fried, served naked by design, with sauces on the side. A little Shake-and-Bake-like, not that moist, and not that flavorful. Like a poor man's Rusty Can wings. -- Brisket: This seemed relatively fresh, but cookled quickly. Quality varied greatly depending on which slice you took and where you bit. Some bites perfect. Some bites dry. All had impactful flavor from both rub and smoke. Good bark, good tenderness and wobble, at least on the parts from the point. -- Pulled Pork: Molded into a gray and depressing softball, but it felt and tasted better than it looked. Most of it luscious and moist, though borderline mushy and could use some firmer or barkier pieces for contrast. Flavor subtle. Not that warm. -- Sausage: This house-made link gushed juices on contact and had screaming flavor and great texture (soft, hinting at pebbly, but still intact), but barely room temperature. Would've been elite if warmer. -- Coleslaw: Decent. Crisp, lightly dressed, neither sweet nor tart. Fairly tame. -- Cornbread: Fantastic coarse texture and brown butter flavor, but a little on the stiff side. Molasses butter on the side was like a frosting and it worked fabulously. I'd pay to know when I can have a hot one. -- Sauces: They've got a dark brown barbecue and a red tangy one. Both are pretty good, but better when mixed. -- Service: Mostly young kids doing the order taking and food running, and all were very nice. Overall, I'd say the meal was good for sure, but this place has so much potential to be great. They have a smoker which is a plus. customers place their order at the main counter then take a seat in the dining room. Everyone is assigned a number so they know where to deliver the food when it was ready. I thought the prices were high as it was thirty dollars for a pulled pork sandwich and 3 jalapeño poppers. The jalapeños were stuffed and wrapped in bacon. I thought it was high but part of it has to do with the type of food. The menu was limited. For the most part, it was just had different combinations of brisket and pulled pork. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich which was stacked high with pulled pork on a sesame bun. First I want to say I grew up with Memphis bbq and this is not that. That said it was good. They use Carolina bbq sauce and rubs. Service was very fast and everyone was very polite. Nothing fancy inside. Clean. Seat yourself inside or outside. The bench's around the room are pretty high and there's no cushions. We got the meat platter which has a little bit of everything. It had beef brisket, pulled pork, smoked turkey, 2 huge sausages and pork ribs and pickled cucumbers and onions. We also ordered the Mac and cheese, corn bread, wings and a turkey sandwich. The pulled pork was good. If I had some sweet bbq sauce to put on it it would've have been to die for. Wings tasted fine but have a lot of rub on them. The turkey sandwich was sloppy but good. It has cranberry mayo, lettuce and cucumbers on it. Turkey was a bit dry. The brisket was very good. Corn bread was crumbly had a nice butter with it. I've been driving past this location for months now and was excited to see the location finally open today. Hours currently are 3pm to 9pm Wednesday through Sunday and there is plenty of parking. Being their opening day, there is bound to be some rough edges but that just means there's ample room for improvement! I carried out so my dining environment (my car) may not have been the best but I didn't want to wait until I got home before diving in. Interior decor is great and the overall vibe of this place is very chill. Here are the items I tried out (as of 5/2025): - Prime Beef Brisket (1/2lb) - $17 - For Massachusetts it's definitely above average. It was tender and had a good ratio of fat to lean meat. However, I do wish the bark had more smoke flavor to it (this will be a running theme). - Pork Spare Ribs (1/2lb) - $16 - Very tender and tastes pretty great, however, I wish there was more smoke flavor imparted in the meat. - House sausage (1/2lb) - $8 - Good flavor. Firm chew to it which I enjoyed. Again, I wished there was a more smokey flavor! - Cole Slaw (sm) - $5 - Refreshing and crisp. Not too heavily dressed. Vinegar dressing could be a tad more prominent. - Shells and Cheese (sm) - $5 - Nice creaminess to the sauce. Shells were perfectly cooked. Not too heavy. - Brown Butter Cornbread - $4 - Nice chunk of cornbread. Great flavor and something I would order again. Not too dense and I really taste the brown butter! - Banana Pudding - $6 - Toasted coconut adds a nice crunchy texture to the dessert. Not too sweet which I'm thankful for as I'm not a fan of overly sweet banana pudding. Unfortunately the vanilla wafer lost it's crunch by the time I got to it. Overall I am quite pleased with the offerings here. If they can impart more smoke into the meat I think it will help tremendously in scratching that Texas BBQ itch. Massachusetts is in desperate need for good Texas BBQ and I have high hopes for Blondies as they certainly have the equipment to make it happen. So we all went out to eat here today to try it for the first time I ordered chicken wings. They brought them to the table black burnt. I asked them to please remake me a new one because she couldn't even bite into the chicken wings. It was so burnt and what did they do? They bring me out another plate of burnt chicken wings!! the place was dead and they stood around watching us eat like we were Gordon Ramsay. The team at Blondie's seemed to be quietly tinkering and perfecting while construction dragged on--always a promising sign in a region where barbecue can often feel like an afterthought. The layout is simple but functional. You walk into a narrow entry where you'll place your order (including drinks, if you're so inclined), receive a wooden token bearing your table number, and then head into a spacious dining area. There's a self-serve water station - a small but welcome touch, especially considering barbecue's sodium-forward nature. Prices are fair, especially given today's meat market realities. Cocktails ring in at $14, and meat is sold by the half-pound. On our visit, we opted for pulled pork, brisket, and spare ribs. The pulled pork was the standout--tender, smoky, and deeply flavorful. The brisket held its own, with a solid bark and decent moisture. The ribs, while well-seasoned, were slightly undercooked--not quite the fall-off-the-bone experience many might hope for. They do use spare ribs rather than baby backs, so your mileage may vary. The shell and cheese was rich without being overbearing, and the pimento cheese dip was comfortingly nostalgic. The campfire beans were fine, but not memorable enough to revisit. I did appreciate that sides come in two sizes, encouraging diners to sample more without overcommitting. Cocktails, served in whimsical little flasks (plastic, alas), were both cleverly crafted and pleasantly strong--offering enough novelty without veering into gimmick. Not sure what people have been raving about. Food was aweful. I struggled to find something good and just could not. Food was dry, rub was overwhelming, not sure who approved the sauces, sides were mediocre at best. Not sure how bbq can be like this with a huge smoker outside. Y'all should be smoking something on the daily to keep things fresh. I have driven by multiple time expecting to witness beautiful smoke bellowing into the sky with an aroma making me want to stop in my tracks and partake in amazing bbq. Only once I've seen a hint of smoke though I could have mistaken a patron smoking a cigarette. Unless major changes happen I do not see this place surviving unfortunately. Though Applebee's, Jake n joes, Papa Gino's (to name a few) are still in business). I had high hopes. I don't even have it in me to go back again. Suggestion... Spend a month or two in Texas trying amazing bbq and bring ideas back. Heck... Go to Buc-ee's and try their brisket,... Just saying.. . The food is terrific! My husband got the beef brisket with a side of collard greens and corn bread. I got 3 ribs with the same sides. His brisket was tender and barbecued perfectly. My ribs were also cooked perfectly. They were tender and full of flavor. His brisket and my ribs were not stringy. The pork rib meat stayed on the bone, and did not turn into a mess on my plate. The greens were an authentic southern style. Delicious! But the cornbread was a real star. Freshly baked, crunchy sweet topping and served with maple butter. This was a real flavor party! The portions were large. We both took leftovers home. Blondie's looks like a roadhouse you would find down south, but the parking lot is not gravel! IYKYK. It's not fancy. And it's not terribly comfortable, with wooden benches (with cushions strewn about), wooden tables and metal chairs. The music is a great mix. The wallpaper is fun and the employees are super nice. We have been looking forward to some good BBQ at this place since we saw the sign months ago. Finally it opened! Their brisket is literally NO JOKE! Delish! The heirloom tomato salad was a special that evening. It was sooooo goooood!!!! However, the beans were ok, but not soft like we enjoy normally. It was an interesting setup. You walk in, order and pay at the counter. You sit in the dining room and wait for your food to be delivered. I guess we just didn't expect that. We thought it was going to be a sit down restaurant. The waitress was nice. They serve their beer in cans, not a lot of choices, but they covered what we all wanted. So when we passed by Blondie's, I was intrigued -- Because the reviews were good and the smokers and pits looked amazing from the street. I consulted with my friend from Austin and he gave me the nudge to try. We got there at 7:30 on a Saturday night and they were already sold out of brisket and ribs. Disappointed but undeterred, we ordered just about everything else -- smoked turkey sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, sausage, wings, mac n cheese, cornbread, Texas sheet cake and a Blondie (natch). I have to say this is as close to authentic Texas BBQ as I've had this far north. The sausage was juicy with a great zing. The pulled pork was super flavorful and tender. Great smoke on the wings and turkey. Mac and cheese was creamy with a breadcrumb crunch. The sheet cake and cornbread were dry and fell a little short. Finally, we tried this new BBQ people rave about. Have to say they must only eat it when drunk and starving. We dined in which is a very small and fend for yourself place. As we entered the lady at the counter was very nice and answered all our questions the best she could. You order at counter then seat yourself. We ordered 2 combo brisket meals which came with two sides. We both got the greens and potato salad. I guess cornbread could be a side. That right there was a turn off. All who know bbq know every meal no matter what comes with cornbread it's not a side. Then we got a can of soda and sweet tea. Sweat tea was this little plastic bottle with two sips in it should've got a soda. Meat was tender but little flavor, greens were absolutely disgusting. (Note not southern style) potato salad had alot of mustard and celery but was still the best thing out of the meal. Didn't have any cornbread . There is two options for sauce and both were gross. Have to say for $65 I'd rather take the drive to Taunton for Kinfolk's. Portions may be smaller on sides but taste is a lot better and they give you cornbread and choice of two meats for the price of this places one. Best part of this place is the very nice lady at the counter. Oh and they bring your meal out to you on a tray no plate (don't eat the pickled onions taste like a sweaty dog) and sides in small bowls. Lady from the counter gave us plates and silverware. There are many better options around for food. I had high hopes for this place because they got the decor and the 'look' right. You order up front and they bring it out to your table. I went in last week with a friend and I ordered a brisket sandwich with no sauce (horseradish sauce) and my friend got some brisket. We both got the Mac and cheese as a side. Well, the meat was 80% fat and the Mac and cheese was ice cold. On top of that, my sandwich was covered in the horseradish sauce. I got up and asked if I could please get another without the sauce and they said sure! 15 minutes later the new sandwich comes out. Also covered in sauce. Again. By the third time I got my (correct) sandwich I wasn't even interested in eating it. Also, the sauce they provide on the table is as viscous as water. Not going back. Newly opened Blondie's Barbecue hits all the right notes. Our party of four went for the Prime Beef Brisket, Pork Spare Ribs and Pulled Pork. All items were presented family style. No fine china here! Paper plates but real flatware (not plastic). Our favorite was an even split between the rib and the brisket. There were left-overs which proves our desires are far larger than our stomachs. 1/2 lb of any entry is more than enough for two. The service was top notch. I stopped to see what they had done to the building and although it's cute, the bar is gone which was always fun. I just ordered sides because I had a main at home. Ordered cornbread, beets and banana pudding. The cornbread is absolutely delicious and the beets...they are served chilled and they are spiced. There is some cheese on the top. Amazing! Service was friendly. Brisket was awesome! We got a meat platter with brisket, pulled pork, smoked turkey, ribs and sausage for 5 people. We needed a couple more people as we could not eat it all. Congrats to this place. It's fairly new but they are doing a great job. read more
