What a gem - run to this small but elegant place if you want a delicious meal! My sister and I wanted to grab dinner after a flight from Boston and were searching for a place on way home. We do not know Canton and were so glad we found this place! Ironically our mother was named Elsie. We started with their delicious focaccia bread which was light and flavorful and had the calamari appetizer. Lightly breaded with two sauces and very good. The hostess and server were very friendly and engaging and food was served promptly. I had the Chicken Parmesan which was a good portion and the sauce was amazing! My sister had the Bolognese which was exceptional. Definitely a place we would return to and so glad we found it. read more

This restaurant is tasty, but pricey. Most of the stuff on the menu is overpriced but quality food. Most is food you might be able to make at home. But you're paying for the service and not having to cook and clean and worry about anything. I cane with a party of 5 and the restaurant was packed. The server was good but overworked; it took forever to finally get the check because after the meal he totally forgot about us for 15-20 minutes and disappeared. We ordered the seafood chowder (good but no lobster...? @ 15 a bowl?) and the fried rice balls with red sauce, they were filling and flavorful, and texturally pleasing. Cute spot and main courses and drink was good (wife started with very tasty cucumber martini thing). My stuffed veal chop especially was well cooked. The pumpkin ravioli was OK. Focaccia bread to start was disgusting. It was freezing cold (like from the freezer), really dense and flavorless. They later told us they were having issues with ovens, so maybe unable to provide warm or fresh bread? Service was terrible. I think our waitress was on something or just really scatterbrained. They messed up our first drinks (gave us what we ordered, but then later brought us something else) and never put in our appetizer order (despite having a long conversation about what the waitress recommended, saying ribs were fall-off-the-bone), saying they sounded great and we'll take those, then telling us she'll go put that order in and come back for our dinner order, and then later confirming our appetizer order was in while taking our dinner order. For some reason, it took almost an hour to get our food from the time we ordered (with no appetizers or edible bread in between). They also took a drink order for my wife before the mains arrived but didn't bring it out until she was done (their wasn't much left in the bottle so they sent someone for a fresh bottle so she got a good pour... 15 minutes after she ordered and was done eating). I wanted to like the place and may give them another try - sounds like we had a bad combination of oven issues and worst waitress ever - but not a great way experience for our anniversary dinner. read more

Fantastic family dinner last night at Elsie's Table. We made a reservation for 5:30pm. Reservations are highly recommended (as we saw a line form later in the evening.) By the time we left (7:30pm) no line and open tables. Parking is available in the back and on the street in front of the restaurant. There are a limited number of tables and seating at the bar. Service is quick, friendly, and well-informed of specials, how food and drinks are prepared, etc. Four of us started with a bottle of delicious red wine and a drink (for one of us.) The drinks and aperitifs here impressed me with their modest cost: My favorite scotch was $10 less than I am charged in Boston, on average. We each started with Pear and arugula salads: delicious and ample pear slices for each of us. My entree: Salmon - remarkable, and cooked to an ideal temperature and consistency. Same for the vegetables. One sister had their burger (two large patties) including fries. Also delicious and more than she could finish. The other entrees: Pork Shop and Lamb Shop. Also remarkable. We finished the evening with delicious (rare) decaf black coffees and Chocolate Torta & Caramel Truffles - more than enough to share amongst the 4 of us. So I wanted to like it because the menu looked good and I made a reservation for my friend and I. It's true the restaurant is loud but we could still talk. The ambience was fine for us. The part that wasn't great was that the food was not worth the cost. We ordered a toast flight as an appetizer and when asked if we wanted it to come out first, we said yes, please. We ordered. My friend ordered the corned beef hash poutine (when asked how she wanted her egg, said "over easy"). I got shrimp and grits. My friend asked to substitute the home fries with French fries and they said yes. The next thing we know our orders came out and then the toast flight came out. All at the same time. We said, "so much for having an appetizer". My shrimp was good but the grits were crunchy and undercooked. Flavor was fine but the crunch made it odd and unpleasant to eat. The toast flight was a little short on seasoning but was ok. The corned beef poutine came out. On home fries. Not French fries. No egg at all. When my friend let the waitress know she said "oh do you want me to get you an egg?" My friend said no, I'm all set. Then she pointed out the home fries issue and she said she would get French fries (even though the poutine gravy was already on the home fries). She then brought out steak fries (wedges) and said that was the only kind of fries they had. They had odd flavoring - almost a peanut taste. I never mind the cost at a restaurant as long as the food delivers but unfortunately it came up short. Won't return. Normally don't review restaurants but in this case there were multiple misses from the kitchen. I was going to rate at two stars but it's a little better than that, in my opinion. read more

My family had a variable experience here so I'm breaking it down in detail with added opinions about different dishes: Service: 2 The service left something to be desired. Our server seemed like she didn't like us and perhaps this was the reason she came off as unhelpful. At one point when we were ordering apps and asking dinner questions, she seemed to just walk away before my mom could ask about an app she was interested in. It was awkward. Atmosphere: 3 Cute little space but pretty crowded together and relatively loud. Simple tablescape. Bathrooms were clean. Bread: 3 We were excited for focaccia but it wasn't really focaccia-like. Despite this, it was yummy with good flavor. The garlic butter was amazing. Drinks: 3 Wine was good, but how do you mess that up? Coke was good and bubbly. Sangria was a good flavor but no fruit. Dragon fruit margarita with mezcal wasn't smoky at all and tasted kind of like watery juice. Apps: 3 Pretzel was yummy but that's a pretzel. Cheesy sauce was delicious. Caesar salad tasted good... but the presentation... we knew we were in for it. The dressing on top looked like squirted Mayo (see picture). Entrees: 3 The burger was ordered medium well and came out WELL done. It was quite a big bite. Fries were very good. Flatbread was loaded with cheese so it overwhelmed the vegetables. Tasted fine. The cod was one of the best dishes of the night. Nice and crispy on the outside with a delicious sauce and soft potatoes. The veg on the side was a nice addition. The shrimp scampi was good. Shrimp was cooked well and pasta was good. Nothing earth shattering but a solid dish. Desserts: 4.5 The chocolate torte was really good. The truffles on the side were okay. The gelato was very good. Coffee was a good flavor and not too watery. Summary: Average food but charging high-end prices. Wouldn't go back unless a friend invited me and was paying. read more

My wife and I visited Elsie's table for dinner on a Friday evening. We did not have a reservation and were seated outside, as it was the only option available. The restaurant is ADA friendly, with elevators that accommodate wheelchairs and scooters. Once seated, out waitress brought us menus, plates and utensils. I noticed that some tabled were served bread and butter while others weren't, including ours. Not sure if that was requested or a standard to serve it in the beginning. Also, it looked like there was only one waitress covering the entire restaurant, which may be the reason why there were delay in service. We ordered the brussels sprout, chicken skewers, seafood chowder, seared scallops and the tagliatelle Bolognese. For drinks, we had the phony negroni and Sicilian lemonade. I highly recommend the Sicilian lemonade, was refreshing and sweet (came with huge blueberries). The drinks and starters came out in a reasonable time. The brussels sprout were crispy and flavorful and the chicken skewers were juicy and well seasoned with a refreshing side salad. We were excited for the seafood shower, but after waiting for a bit, I asked for an update. That is when we were told the fish was no longer available, the table next to us had gotten the last order. The waitress mentioned a co-worker was supposed to inform us, but I felt she could have taken responsibility and communicated the change as well. Unfortunately, the delay did not end there. After our starters, we waited quite while for our mains, at least 20 minutes (and that's from when I started timing). During that time, no one checked in or gave us any updates, which made the wait feel even longer. I understand if a restaurant is short staffed, but proactive communication makes a big difference. We even saw another table leave due to a lack of service and long wait. Eventually our entrees arrived, and the food runner who brought them offered great service; checking in on us, offering new utensils and showing more attentiveness than we had received earlier. The seared scallops were slightly overcooked, but the risotto they came with was a nice touch. The tagliatelle Bolognese was a standout, flavorful and perfectly cooked. I would highly recommend that dish. Overall, it is the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the food runner that gave a 4 star rating for me. If the food was not that great, this would have been more of a 1 or 2 star experience. I'll try Elsie's table again on a different day (hopefully the service would be better then) read more

Shrimp appetizer was ok. The veal Saltambocca for $40 was a soupy flavorless sauce. Two tiny and tough veal cutlets. Soggy and too thickly sliced prosciutto. Salmon entree $32 was plated with the wrong side. Mashed potatoes instead of butternut squash puree. They offered the puree after noticing, but just a small ramekin. At this prices this restaurant charges the food needs to on point and it fell way short. These were simple dishes poorly executed. Lacking flavor. Could have been hotter as well. read more

Elsie's is small, and it was so loud (including the music) that it ruined our experience. It was so tough to hear that we asked the host if the music could be turned down a little. Our group of four had to yell over the table and still couldn't hear each other. The food was ok, nothing special. Not impressed for the price point. Expensive! Flatbread tastes like it came from the Trader Joe's frozen section. Chicken Marsala was gross and I'm sorry but $36 for chicken Marsala in Canton MA is hysterical. The best part was the carrot cake. That was very good. Service at the table was decent but the hostess was rude when we requested a table that didn't wobble (how dare we). Also it very small. So be prepared to be on top of the people having dinner next to you. Definitely felt like this is the type of place that it depends on who you are as to how you are treated. We've been to this restaurant twice now. The first time we went we overall thought the food was very average for the price. However we decided to give it a second try because the ambiance is cozy but still comfortable, they have many rave reviews, and it's close to home. Pros: we had made a reservation and were promptly seated once we arrived, our waitress was friendly enough, the bread they served as an app was super yummy (it wasn't warm but it was still soft and nicely seasoned and the butter served with it paired well). My husband ordered the filet mignon for his entree and he enjoyed that. Cons: we ordered the calamari for appetizer and it's quite possibly the worst calamari i've ever had. it was definitely overcooked, the breading was hard to chew, and it felt like it was all breading and no meat inside. My husband was using his fork to pick up the calamari and the piece would just break apart because it was so brittle. I ordered the lamb chops as my entree and they were fine but i don't think i'd get them again for the price. The sides that it came with, carrots and mash potatoes, were under seasoned and bland. For drinks, my husband ordered a winter mule and I ordered a cucumber dragonfruit mocktail. I ended up stealing my husbands drink because the mocktail was too sour -- for some reason it tasted almost like pickle juice to me. We were (once again) surprised at how mid the food was given all the great yelp reviews and how packed the place was even on a tuesday night. We decided to skip dessert, and we don't think we'll be giving Elsie's a 3rd try anytime soon. read more

Elsie's Table was absolutely amazing! It's a small and quaint spot with a cozy, welcoming vibe. The service was exceptional -- friendly, attentive, and everything moved along smoothly. The drinks were definitely something to talk about! The presentation was top-notch and everything tasted incredible. I had the espresso martini, and my guests enjoyed the Ellie Rae Spritz -- both were delicious. For dinner, we ordered the mixed grill, which included a perfectly cooked porterhouse and shrimp, accompanied by two flavorful vegetables. Every bite was perfection. We finished with the homemade carrot cake, which was big enough to share -- and it was divine! The dessert drinks were even better than the dessert (which says a lot!). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fresh and memorable dining experience. It's a 10 out of 10 in every way! The entire Father's Day Brunch experience was unfortunate. The table was cramped, our party of 3 were sat at a 2 top when there were larger tables available throughout the entire meal. The table was not bussed during the meal, making the space worse. No one liked their meals, the food portions were weak. The one appetizer we split was the smoked salmon flatbread, that barely had any cream cheese. My Eggs Benedict was cold, the crispy chicken sandwich, was a thin dried-out piece of chicken and the Avocado toast was the worst of them, the toast was too hard to eat, topped with a small amount of avocado and a sad quarter sized piece of tomato. I ordered 1 Bloody Mary tasted fine, no coffees or teas, just waters and the bill was $140.00. Poor value! I will never return. read more

I relocated to this area a few months ago and have struggled to find a decent brunch spot that wasn't overpriced. I almost missed this little gem hidden in plain site on the main road in Canton. First, the restaurant is small but the layout is cozy and relatively quiet given the space even with a descent size crowd. This is wonderful for brunch because how annoying is it to be in a crowded loud space for what is supposed to be a relaxing meal. I was also able to sit immediately even though it was 12:30 on a Sunday. I am a fan of not having to wait for a table. The decor is modern with classic flair and the combination of natural light with subtle ambient lighting within again adds to the appeal of this space. Of course what you really want to know about is the food. I decided to keep it simple since this was my first time here and went with a classic breakfast staple, French Toast and added a side of scrambled eggs. The French toast was delicious it was crispy, encrusted by what I assume was a cinnamon sugar dip but remained soft inside. The slices were topped with fresh berries and served with whipped cream and syrup on the side. I love syrup on French Toast but barely use. It because the preparation of this with that yummy crust was perfection. The scrambled eggs were cooked well not runny or over cooked but as a side portion I was shocked it was so large. I ordered a simple breakfast but really was impressed and stuffed by the end. The only drawback for me with this restaurant is the parking but I really don't hold that against them. Elsie's Table arrives in Canton! A brand new restaurant opened up last December (previously an old bar), in downtown Canton and you should check it out. It's a smaller restaurant, but super cute and cozy with a brand new aesthetic. The bar area has very comfy chairs which is always a plus. The dining room is pretty small and can get noisy but with delicious food, modern ambiance, and excellent service, it didn't matter in the end. I started with their Tuna Tartare and when it came out it was too pretty to even eat LOL. I also ordered the Grilled Salmon which was ok. My friends and I split the Pistachio Martini for dessert and it was one of the best I've had in a long time. If you are ever in Canton I highly recommend stopping in to eat. The tea situation was a little comical, they didn't have small kettles for hot water refills, the server kept going back and forth to get me fresh cup for hot water for my tea. First time visiting, and won't be the last! Food, service, and ambiance are all outstanding! Yes it's small, and yes it can get loud, but who cares when the food is the star! We started with the arancini, delicious. The sauce was simple but flavorful and accompanied the arancini perfectly. We had the parmesan-crusted cod and the bone-in pork chop for entrees. Both were fantastic. The cod was cooked perfectly, and the lemon sauce that accompanied it was the right touch. The pork chop was the best chop I've had at a restaurant. Flavorful, tender, juicy. The BBQ sauce that came with it was superb, and the fried Brussels sprouts were great. Great service, you can tell everyone cares about their customers and the food. 5 stars all the way! We were excited to check this place out and made a reservation. Well, what's the point in making a reservation if they don't honor it? We were seated 45min after our reservation! We figured they'd comp something on our bill to make up for it. But nope. Meanwhile, the hostess (owner?) talked shit about the couple whose table we were supposedly waiting for. I wonder what she said about us to those waiting for later tables? Service was great once we sat down (props to Hershel for redeeming this experience). Food was mixed. Mussels very good. "Bone-in" pork chop had no bone and was a little dry. Drinks were superb. Lastly, we noted it was our anniversary on the reservation and they did nothing to honor that or make mention of it. We went for first time tonight with high expectations based off what we've been reading about the restaurant. First, the look and feel is comfortable and intimate, more so like a classy NYC restaurant. Our reservation was for a high top table, which was comfortable and roomy. We had 4 different martinis all were great! Our first course was the lollipop lamb chops, everything on the plate was cooked perfectly and was filled with flavor. I had the stuffed pork chop and my fiancé had the local family recipe, scallops and risotto. Both dishes were delicious, and filling. We ended the night with the crème brûlée which was some of the best we've ever had. Hire end prices for Canton BUT worth it! All the food was unique and the portions were great. The food was outstanding and fairly priced. I had a special cioppino dish. The seafood was so fresh. Great customer service.

My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary and ordered a bunch of appetizers, drinks, and dessert. We were only at the restaurant for a little over an hour and a half. We paid the bill and I was finishing my drink when the waitress comes up to us and tells us "I'm supposed let you know that our 7 pm reservation is here and they're standing behind you." I've never had that happen to me in my entire life. Seems like they care more about profits than their customers. I'm not sure if I would return here again after that experience. Seems like they could use a better business model. Update: I've never heard of a reservation being an hour and 15 minutes. Thank you for your courtesy of letting us stay an extra half hour. First time checking them out - went for brunch and sat at the bar. Atmosphere was nice (poles in the middle of the bar are unfortunate, but likely would cost too much to structurally remove). Service was fine, not great. Was very disappointed to discover that the 'coffee' was just them using a Keurig and running donut shop coffee through it. Should make it clear they aren't actually brewing coffee. If they want to be a place for brunch, this needs to be fixed. A five star experience on both our visits. First visit was brunch with my husband and I. The food was unmatched. I had the waffles, with Nutella/chocolate and bananas fosters (cooked to perfection), topped with amazing vanilla ice cream. My husband had the ahi tuna on top of avocado and cream cheese toasts. A Devine brunch! Try the blueberry lemonade mimosas - to die for! Proud staff, we got to meet the owner, chef and most of the staff (hello Nikki). Our server was top-notch. Obviously, it's a team who wants this establishment to succeed! Tonight we went there for dinner with our daughter. We arrived very early and the host was very gracious, letting us know that our table was running late (in addition to us being early) and made up for our inconvenience. Our server was on-point, attending to our table when appropriate. The crispy brussel sprouts and the burrata salad we had for starters were soooo delicious!!!! Our daughter highly recommends the Greek Lemon Chicken Soup, which my husband also tried and said it was great. The Caesar salad was grilled to perfection! My steak was cooked as ordered and served with a very nice crispy corn salad. Our only distraction occurred with my husband's dinner. The waitress and chef reacted quickly. There was a bit of miscommunication between the front of the house and the kitchen and it got corrected swiftly, with apologies from our outstanding waitress, the host, the owner and the chef!!! Amazing!!! Okay, so let's talk dessert...Our daughter wanted particulars that was not on the menu and without hesitation, our waitress said that they would oblige. And then we ordered the chocolate tort. Beyond heaven!!!! All-in our experiences have been nothing short of amazing. My husband and I decided to try a new-to-us restaurant locally last night (a Friday), and chose Elsie's Table. It's a tiny place but when we arrived for our 5:15 reservation (it was either that or after 8 and we were hungry!), the bar was busy with a lively crowd. By the time we left after our meal the whole place was full! Ambience is fresh, clean and modern. Cocktails were delicious and perfectly made. Salmon arrived at the table hot and was absolutely delicious, a generous portion sitting in a modest amount of sweet potato purée (live a restaurant that doesn't use heaps of carbs as an excuse to serve tiny portions of protein) and a generous helping of broccolini. All was ex. Husband had Harvest Ravioli- butternut squash ravioli with scallops in a peas-and-pancetta cream sauce. Delicious, though could have gone lighter on the sauce. Only downside was all 4 pieces of bread served to us were more than a little stale. We will be back! read more
