    Chips and Salsa
    Tony S.

Hi there! This week, I'm in New Hampshire for work, and I had to drive back to Boston. The traffic was really bad, and I was getting tired and hungry. I found a Mexican restaurant near my hotel and decided to stop for dinner. I ordered a Stella beer, which is my favorite drink, that can with all you can eat chips and salsa. For food, I got the Chili Verde dinner. The pork was super tender and juicy, and there was a lot of it! The salsa verde sauce was tangy and tasty. It came with fluffy Mexican rice and smooth pinto beans, which were really good too. I had a great meal and can't wait to go back and try the fajitas next time! The place was busy and the servers are very attentive and the food came out without any delays.

I hadn't been to an Acapulcos in a long time! I used to go in Newton, but that location is gone. Acapulcos is a local Mexican food chain. This Acapulco's is conveniently located on Rt 1 with a decent size parking lot. We were seated and served quickly and the staff was very prompt and good. My husband and I split a fajita plate and a side of guac. The guac was huge.. it felt like it came out in a giant cauldron. They asked us what we wanted in it and we got everything except jalapenos. It was pretty good - but maybe a bit too lime forward for me. The fajitas came with a side of rice and beans and was very good. I got the blue midnight margarita which was "delightfully different" as advertised in the menu. It was a bit perfume-y and I like that in a cocktail, or a candy. Good stuff. RIP Acapulcos Newton, Long Live Acapulcos Norwood.

Kids rice and bean burrito (filled with meat)

We order from here a lot and really like it though definitely check your to go order. We've had multiple mess ups and today after counting the dishes to make sure there was the right number I got home and the two rice and bean burritos for my vegetarian kids we're both full of meat. I'd say 10% of the time at least there is a mess up in the to go order and it's always really frustrating to get home with the wrong food or missing food.

The drinks were delicious. I ordered a strawberry margarita iced with salt on the rim 10 out of 10. As for food, we got a variety of things of a fajita quesadilla, enchiladas with shredded beef and salsa verde sauce, and pork tacos. The portions were so generous. And the food was absolutely delicious. Every single dish no complaints. Last but not least, the service was absolutely incredible. although the restaurant was packed, the servers were booked and busy, and we were served in inappropriate timely manner and checked on at a constantly. Special shout out to Thomas. Restaurant was incredibly clean as well.

My boyfriend and I have eaten at Acapulcos a few times now (most recently last weekend) and every experience has been very positive. Portion sizes are generous, the food is delicious and the service is excellent, all at an affordable price. The ambiance is casual and family friendly. I give 5 stars all around! I highly recommend the fresh guacamole, which we shared as an appetizer. They make it to order, so you can customize the ingredients per your liking (ie no jalapeños) and the portion size was enough for several people to share. (Note: If you order guacamole as a side with an entree, you will get previously frozen guacamole, it is not fresh or made to order). For dinner, we both got enchiladas with red beans and rice. In the past when looking for a healthier option, I've had their Avocado Salad and Vallarta Salad, either of which can be a full meal if you add chicken. I also recommend the Tacos Supreme as a hearty appetizer.

Great for families, such nice people. Warmly greeting my Spanish speaking family in Spanish and made us feel completely at home. 4 stars for service, ambiance, and drinks. Food is not as authentic as one might hope. But portions are very generous and everyone left happy with their meal, for very reasonable prices. Highly recommend the "Ultimate Margarita" which is just a real margarita made with lime juice rather than sour mix!

Third time back, and this time during COVID. First off, major kudos to all the safety precautions they've put in place. They've got contactless menu, proper distancing between tables, and partitions between adjacent tables. Their complimentary chips and salsa continues to be a hit. The salsa tastes super fresh and homemade. The chips taste crispy and buttery. Our waiter also told us that if we can handle the spiciness of the salsa, then we can handle anything on the menu. I thought that was a really interesting fact to know. I got the pork tamales, one with green sauce (made with tomatillos aka Mexican husk tomato) and one with red sauce (enchilada sauce, which I believe has red tomatoes as a key ingredient). Neither is spicy, and both have a unique taste. If you're not sure which sauce you'll like, just get one of each like I did. Came with a group of 4 and half of us were impressed with the food and half of us thought the food was just okay. Personally, I'm on the side which thought the food was just okay. I wonder if it's because the free chips and salsa are so delicious that it overpowers the rest of the food? Maybe they should serve the salsa last in the future (hah).

First I'll say I'm Latino. I love Colombian food, Puerto Rican food, Dominican food, Venezuelan…read morefood, Cuban food etc etc. This place is so bad. I don't know how it has two 5 stars reviews as of this posting. The place is small and not a great ambiance for a nice dinner. It was hot as hell in there and over run with kids that looked like family the day we ordered. They were behind the register, in the common area & at tables. The price was insane for typical Latin dishes that were greasy, salty, and very unsatisfying. Most went in the trash. The rice was bland with vegetables resembling fried rice from a Chinese restaurant. It was so moist and greasy, the pork/chicharron had a strange aftertaste like it was old. The beans were ok but still needed flavor. Plantains were cut thin and not sweat like the typical ripe plantain. The skirt steak was edible and actually had decent flavor. The pupusa was artery clogging and I regret eating even half of one. A kid took the order & cooked some of the meal. He left out a few items from the order. Luckily I asked because when he said we were all set, I knew something was def missing. Had to wait another 15-20 mins more. I already spent about 30 minutes which turned to 45 mins total) waiting for take out with an empty store. That's insane...I'd steer far away if you want Spanish food that's done on a much higher level and won't break the bank. Don't say you weren't warned if decide to try this place. Highly recommend Casa de Lala who is currently relocating in Walpole. That's the best you will get with fresh, high quality Spanish food.
