Simply put; I love the steak kabobs. They are a must. The sauce is amazing and the ambiance is nice too.

Came for a weeknight steak dinner for 2 and have always experienced top notch service here, tonight was no exception. Although the service was fantastic, my filet mignon had a bit too much gristle for my liking. In every bite in fact, so I had to send it back. Second one was decently better, but wasn't great. If I'm paying $50 I expect a perfectly cooked cut of steak, otherwise I'd go to Applebee's. Might give it another shot but will head to the Met next time I'm craving a steak. read more

I went there the food was amazing I got the n.y. Stake sandwich I was amazing good portions of food. I will be coming back.

go here for good steak. Doesn't have the tready el Gaucho vibe. don't need to wear your finest. Just enjoy a good meaty meal with friends.

Review is for lunch only: We popped in around 1 pm for what we hoped would be a tasty, quick lunch. We got neither. We were seated promptly in the balcony. We were brought water, then five minutes later the waitress finally stopped by to take our drink order. She showed up with the drinks five minutes after that, saying she'd be right back for our lunch order. She showed up another five minutes later to take the order, so it was now almost 1:20. We ordered one sandwich and one salad. Fifteen minutes passed. The place was emptying out as it closed at 2. Some people who got there ten minutes after us got their lunch. Ten more minutes passed We asked the waitress what was up, she said our food was almost ready. Finally, she showed up and explained "The kitchen gets slow when it's close to closing time" in a rather snarky tone. Which completely explains why it took her over fifteen minutes to take our order in the first place. This would have been annoying but mostly excusable if the food was good. It wasn't. My wife's salad was terrible. The chicken on it was rubbery and flavorless, the chickpeas in it flat-out disgusting (canned, with an odd texture and off taste). My sandwich was simply mediocre, admittedly the fries that came with it were the one bright spot of the meal. So, it was slow and the food was poor. Bad meals happen, right? Unfortunately, for this (insert bad chain restaurant here)-quality food we had to pay nice steakhouse prices. You rarely see such high prices for such mediocre food and service outside of touristy resort areas, it's doubly inexcusable in a quiet neighborhood of a big city. read more

The food was reasonable and dynamic in some areas, lacking in others, but the real disappointment (and the reason for 3 not 4 stars) here was the bar-tending service. I would recommend Jaks do away with the disrespectful, rude and altogether disagreeable female bar-tender who clearly doesnt want to have anything to do with her patrons or represent Jaks in even the slightest professional manner. We will most likely not be returning to Jaks again. read more

Excellent brunch menu. The Crab Cakes Benedict was to die for. The Biscuits and Gravy were delicious just like Granny used to makes. The French Toast was more like a dessert. We had a lovely experience and will definitely visit again on my next trip to Seattle. read more

Large portions for fair price. My husband LOVED all of his meal especially the steak. However, do not order the lobster Mac and cheese. The menu boasts a half lb of lobster in the dish and I honestly didn't see any. The waiter claimed it was finely chopped in the Mac and cheese to help it cook better. I just think they sprinkled some lobster flavoring on there and got away with making it a $30 dish. Besides that it's an awesome restaurant with great service! read more

This is my new favorite steak restaurant. For the price and the quality of food you can't go wrong. I had the cowboy Ribeye and was one of the best I've had. We will be back! read more

Steak was perfectly cooked and top notch. The sides are pedestrian except for the roasted Brussels sprouts. And the mushrooms.

Have been here for brunch 3 times. Great food and great, friendly service. Potato pancakes are perfect - crispy outside mixed wish soft inside and really flavorful. The only downside is their coffee is super weak and tasteless. Every time I order it, I hope it's better and it's just not. Even adding cream couldn't mask the taste. If you're like me and wake up just to enjoy a good cup of coffee, you may be disappointed. read more

Jaks is a great place to go for steak, from experience, I can recommend the ribeye, NY strip, and the skewers, which are definitely my favorite. Since expanding their menu, however, its been hit and miss. As long as you stick with the classics you won't regret your order. I've yet to find a good appetizer and last time I was there I tried the lobster mac and cheese and it was absolutely disgusting! Its almost like they never tried their new menu creations. The mac and cheese had a very floury beschemel sauce that was not very flavorful and the lobster chunks were small and tasted like they'd been soaking in chemicals, they were basically inedible. Jaks is a great place to go when you want to go for a nice dinner but keep it casual and not deal with the stuffy steakhouse atmosphere of Daniels or Mortons... just stick with the steak and don't stray to new menu offerings! read more

Service was average. Steaks were fatty. Steak was super undercooked for what I asked for. It's way to expensive for what they do. The potatoes were pretty good at least. read more

I like the food, I don't like not being able to make reservations. Last year for mothers day we took my mother in law for brunch, and it was very uncomfortable moving out of peoples way constantly as we waited for a table, I wished we had gone somewhere else. read more

I like the restaurant but their policy of making you wait until the whole party is present is asinine. They would rather have multiple tables sit empty than have 2 out of 3 customers ordering drinks and appetizers. If 1 of us wasn't leaving town tomorrow I would HAPPILY spend my money across the street. read more

We went to Jak's on a recent Wednesday night. We only go to Jak's once or twice a year as they are usually busy and don't take reservations. The hostess did not greet us when we walked in. After a few minutes, she took down our name and said it would be a fifieen minute wait. We sat in the bar hoping to get a cocktail to sip while we waited. No one offered to take our drink order. After ten minutes, the hostess told us that they had a table. Great! It took about 15 minutes once we were seated for the waitress to take our drink order. Then another 15 minutes before the cocktails came. We ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer and after they came, place our dinner order. 2 Medium well Jak's size filet mignons which the menu states should be pink throughout. After another wait (probably 35 minutes), our dinners arrived. My steak had a fifty cent size piece of grizzle or fat hanging off one end. I had just cut into the vegetables when the waitress came back and asked how everything was. Umm - can you wait until we taste the food? Then she disappeared . My steak was overcooked - gray except in the center which was barely pink and it was tough - not at all tender as a filet mignon for $50 should be. My husband's steak was cooked correctly. I glanced around several times hoping to catch our waitress but she was nowhere to be found. So I ate the vegetables (ok) and the potato pancake (too oily for my taste). Her lack of interest was odd because we were seated next to the area where the servers enter the kitchen area. When the waitress came back 30 minutes later, my husband had two bites left. She asked how it was and I said 'My steak was overcooked'. She offered to cook another one but since the meal was over and it was now past 9 pm, I didn't take her up on that. I should have for the cost of the meal. She did take off one cocktail and the appetizer. My husband said the meat quality was not as good as he remembered from past experiences at Jaks. My steak was definitely tough and overcooked. It was a disappointing evening. From now on, we will go to 'Fresh' across from Safeway which hasn't disappointed us yet.. read more

My friend wanted steak for dinner and offered to buy, I stumbled on this place on Yelp. A bit pricey, yes, but otherwise terrific. About the only downside was the host letting a group jump the line to take seats at the bar, and the bartender seemed a bit...tired. And I wish I had asked and/or someone told me the vegetable that came with the steak was broccoli. I hate broccoli. It's not you, it's me. But our waitress was attentive and helpful and understanding and recommended a fabulous wine, both our steaks & sides were fantastic...not much more one could ask for... read more

Hopefully next time we will get served. Yes- the food is very good, despite the over priced menu. However, this is the second time we attempted to eat here and walked out due to lack of attention and poor service by the bar staff. It seems like there is some complacency since they were busy on a Tuesday. We sat down, only to be totally ignored and all the staff appeared to be diverting their eyes. There was no reason for this and a simple acknowledgement would have improved my patience. Instead, we left after a very long wait and went to Matadors next door, which always has superior service and excellent food. Not sure I can give Jaks a third chance. If this place was better managed, I am sure they could double their business. read more

JaK's Grill is awesome! We went here for a celebratory date night. It was the perfect intimate atmosphere with lovely wine and exemplary food. It's definitely a higher price than what we typically do for dinner (two people can't get out for under $100), but it is a lovely place to celebrate and have some exceptional steak! read more

My ALL time favorite restaurant. I have actually had the opportunity to work as a hostess there a few years back, and had a BALL at this restaurant. Awesome regulars and a fun and friendly staff who take food and wine SERIOUSLY. This place is super busy, so if you want a seat at the bar, or to avoid an hour long (if not longer) wait, you better stop by to drop your name off on the list, or get their early!! They have a killer bar, and some of the best bartenders in West Seattle. Ask Brandon for a grape knee-high. It's too yummy. . . Always check the specials as they tend to have some fantastic steak and seafood options. My favorite entree is the steak salad, ordered rare. This is the best salad I've ever had, and coming from an industry girl, you know I'm good for it. You HAVE to order it with a side of potato pancakes though, it makes the meal. Really, potato pancakes with ANY steak works. . . The portions here are awesome. Yeah, it''s on the pricey side, but you get bread, a side salad, veggies, and your choice of potato with most steak/meat entrees. Every steak is cooked to PERFECTION, ALWAYS. But if you're not feeling steak, they got your back with lobster mac, chicken burger, seafood options, and pork. They used to have a really good butternut squash ravioli, I dunno where that went, probably seasonal, but it was good. Brunch is a hit!! They have like. . . 4 different types of bennies??? Ok, HEAVEN. I've had the crabcake and the chorizo. AWESOME. You can even order steak. Way cool. I also really like the breakfast casserole dish they offer. It has potato pancake and a bunch of other yummy goodies. Anyway, it's worth hitting up. Overall, this is the restaurant that I always suggest for birthdays, anniversaries, dates, valentines day, etc. It's also a place I suggest for after work cocktails as they make a damn good martini and always have a stellar wine list. Forever a fan. read more

This place is just soooooooooooo good. They have the best steaks and burgers and even the Belgian waffles are excellent! The staff was super friendly too. It's a little on the pricey side, however the food is truly DELISH! read more

Jak's has a special place in my heart and will always be one of my favorite places in West Seattle. It's classy and comfortable. I always leave full, happy and satisfied. Steaks are always delicious and cocktails are made generously. My boys love their burgers..they are big, fat and juicy! And..the french fries are kinda the best! Breakfast is insanely good. Get the Crab Benedict and a mimosa...omg. Jak's my happy place read more

The potato pancakes are awesome, and the steak is good.

It's nice to have a neighborhood steakhouse and not have to travel downtown for a craving of red meat. You get your basic side dishes. The portions are big. I have to split a meal in half with my husband. It definitely doesn't compare to Daniel's in terms of quality of the steak and service, but you definitely pay the price. I'd compare the steak maybe one step above Outback. But to be perfectly frank, I've had better service at Outback! Ouch. read more

I have no idea why, but restaurants in Seattle feel they must change $50-$70 and up for steaks. I came here after heavy recommendation from my fellow yelpers and was quite happy to pay less than $30 for a perfectly prepared sirloin. Did I mention you also get bread, a salad, choice of potato and veggies with the meal? Speaking of potato, the potato pancakes are a must. My server was very friendly and offered to split my potato order-I actually got half mashed potatoes(generous portion) with a coaster-sized pancake. So if you're looking for a good steak that won't require discontinuation of one or more utilities, go to Jak's! read more

WOW! Best steak ever! Great to go during Happy Hour! Good burgers as well.

Every dish not only met our expectations but exceeded them. You have made a customer for life. Lobster Mac and cheese, riveted, porterhouse, salmon. Well done read more

Probably my favorite steak in West Seattle. I always get great service and while it is usually a wait, its worth it. I give 4 stars because of the seats, environment, and most importantly the steak. The bench seats on the 1st floor aren't comfortable at all. And while they're more intimate for the volume, I just can never seem to find a good position. Also the decor isn't very...cohesive. I get the steakhouse dynamic, and I personally don't feel the color, big mirror and random lights really tie it all in. And last but certainly not least, I order Medium-Rare for all my steaks. Everywhere. It is my absolute favorite temperature and color of meat. And in the 4 times I've gotten steak, medallions, and frites. Only the NY steak can never seem to get it right. Wayyy to red on the inside. I'm a cook, I know the internal temp is spot on. But the rarity is crazy! I've kind of figured thus far that its the cut, and technique. But I always take it home later to see in real light and I don't know in what reality the color would be Medium-Rare. So all in all, I never have a bad time or experience at Jak's. I just never feel like I got a $114 experience like I pay every time. read more

I went back to Jak's after a less than stellar experience. The food and service was a marked improvement, much more on par with my general experience at Jak's. Kudos to the manager, who contacted me after my initial review, which says a lot for Jak's overall. It's a local business who cares what its customers think. My parents were in town and have enjoyed dining at Jak's so we returned. The food was delicious and the service was amazing this time. They have great wines. My husband has been back a few times also, and he has been happy with it each time. read more

I've gone there for breakfast a few times and it was pretty good. Nothing special, but solid and consistently above average, probably worth 4 stars. Then I tried going there for dinner once, and this simple breakfast joint suddenly became a $50+ a place restaurant. I'm guessing I got the wrong impression of it since I only went there for some basic breakfast dishes, but I never would have thought this place warrants that price tag. In my view this is a great breakfast place but the ambiance doesn't warrant a $50 dollar steak. read more

Wonderful place! Love their potato pancakes! Salmon or filer mignon... tough choice.

This steakhouse grill has great food, slick service and reasonable prices. Treat yourself to one of the very best hamburgers in town. The ambiance is lame - needs a makeover like a Vashon Island lesbian llama breeder, but the food makes you get lost in your palette, so you won't care the decor is just plain ole fugly. Seriously, thinking about that damn burger makes me salivate every time. If you like beef, don't miss this one. read more

Great brunch and no wait! Perfect start before hitting the West Seattle Farmer's Market!

It looks dark in there, but there's some good stuff to be had. The mimosas are strong and the crab eggs benny was delicious. The eggs were a bit overdone, but I didn't care because the texture of the rest of it was great, and the flavors were awesome. And, as a lady, I always appreciate it when a restaurant has hooks for your purse at the bar. read more

Two filet mignons later and it is still ok. Great? The best I've ever had? Not so much. The service was attentive and the food was somewhat timely. The loft in the back, over the kitchen where we sat, of course is apparently the acoustic epicenter of the restaurant. You would almost have to yell to engage in a conversation. I expected better steak from a steak joint though. I'd give it a 3.5 star if I could. read more

They've since added the Men's Fitness ranking directly to the menu yo. Sorry I can't get over myself. I can live with that.

I expected a lot and was underwhelmed. We got here early enough to be seated before the Saturday night crowd. There was six of us so we ended up being seated right near the kitchen, bar & stairs once all of us arrived (all must be present to be seated). The service was just okay. They came by for a drink order, food food order and a few check ins. The food was slow to come out and with that, our meat ended up being over cooked. The steaks were on the tougher dry side and the medium well was closer to well. I expected buttery steak. The burger was good and tasty. For the price, we expected so much more. At least they got us out on time to make it to the show across the street. I think I will search for something better next time. read more

This spot ranks high on my brunch list. I love the rat pack feel and that 509 special: cheesey, potatoey, sausagey, casseroley comfort food. The service is outstanding any time of the day. Gotta love a place with full bar service in the AM. read more

It's been a while since I renewed my review. Yup! They're still a 5-star establishment! Brandon, Malika, and Sarah are the best. And seriously, you have GOT to try the Strawberry Shortcake. I just wish they'd put the Ahi Poke on the regular menu. MAN was that good! read more

Solid lunch service and the food is delicious. I really want to try them for dinner service.
