I've had better and I've had worse, but better than average for its style. Big blue building on 3A with plenty of tenure but not much into old time tiki decor (a mural in back helps) or windows. Approachable menu with all the usual suspects. Saturday lunch visit trying four items a la carte. Spareribs: Always a risk at lunchtime ordering these, which could be a reheat from the night before, but some places come through. This place did not. Long in the tooth, charred on the cross sections as well as the exteriors. Glaze applied but cooked in and dried in. Toothsome, which is a fancy way of saying "a little on the tough side." Decent flavor from the pork, glaze and char, but needed more of the glaze and more tenderness. And more duck sauce to combat dryness. Egg Rolls: Excellent on all aspects. Crisp, fresh, mostly-celery filling, good moistness even without duck sauce, and good flavor in the wrapper and fillings. Near-elite. Subgum Pork Fried Rice: Not as dark as I like it (like it was in the old days), but moist, fluffy, and well studded with vegetation and also well studded with big chunks of bright red pork, which had more glaze than the ribs. Not too much flavor, and not a threat for elite, but decent enough stuff. Pork Egg Foo Yong: Very delicate, with not much crispness and not much pork, but the freshness was evident and the gravy was very tasty, just the right thickness, and not gummy. Wouldn't rush back, but with another look. read more

I have ordered from Jade Pacific for years now always been pretty good. I recently ordered chicken wings, and Peking ravioli. Both were deep fried in very old greasy oil. I couldn't even eat them. Peking ravioli should be in a frying pan or steamed. These were deep fried and were horrible. read more

The "Jade" is a go-to place when you are looking for a restaurant reminiscent of the Chinese/ Polynesian atmosphere -- even with the original Polynesian mural on the wall of the "bar side." There are two "sides" to this restaurant: the "bar side" and the "dining side." The "dining side" has booths for your dining pleasure. While the "bar side" has a huge bar, as well as round tables with swivel chairs. Most of the locals frequent here. Oh, by the way you can order your meal at the "bar side" The food is middle of the road. While the drinks are better than average. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. I have never seen anyone complain. Friday nights, on the "bar side" is alive with DJ played music (call for times). Everyone seems to be having fun (its loud!). The menu is not all Polynesian. Traditional and Szechuan asian cuisine is the offerings. It's a huge menu (both sides). The service is certainly above par. Sometimes the place is "packed", and patience prevails. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

The food and service is always great. It's easily one of our favorite Chinese places in the area. We have tried many near here and they're just not a good. The decor is retro and can use some updates but the dining room is always clean. There's plenty of parking on site and it's easy to get too. They offer Chinese, Polynesian. And Szechuan dishes. They also have a bar area where they offer karaoke certain times and days of the week. read more

Be honest. Nobody comes here for the food. It's regulation Chinese American food, and just OK at that. Everybody talks about the fact that the property has been redone. I didn't see that. But I was in the bar. It definitely looks like the bar could use a good remodel., Holes that had been patched, areas that had stuff hanging from the ceiling that could've been dirt? Might've been part of webs? Not really sure. The first time I was ever here. I walked in the door through a cloud of smoke because everybody was sitting on the stairs smoking their butts.Went to meet a friend at the bar, everybody was so busy with Keno. It was so loud in there!!!! Echoey. However, when the waiter came to take our drinks, he didn't even hear us properly, and one of our friends got the wrong drink. But, the drinks were great. Very strong. Borderline too strong, but I like my drink strong. We stayed for a while, we got a little bit of food. Mine could've been cooked a little longer on everything I had, but not to the point that I thought it was under done terribly. Would it be back yes. Would it be back for the food? only if it involves having my drinks as well. read more

Horrible food. Very disappointed. Tasteless, and tough/chewy. Tea was old, and fowl tasting.

We have been back countless times and honestly, we just love it. There are a ton of Chinese places we want to try, but it just feels like cheating on Jade Pacific. I can't imagine eating anywhere else for Chinese. read more

Great food. Quck friendly service. The portions were big! Definitely more than most could finish. I like the old school vibe.

Jade Pacific is more towards the Atlantic coast... but OK... This joint is your old-school Chinese/American joint with the de rigueur red "leather" booths and the like. Old school in all ways, mostly... The usual menu with the Poo-Poo Pladders and Moo Goo Kow Pang and the like. Reasonably priced and I'd say as freshly cooked as may be expected... you decide... The waiter was wicked nice and was quite tolerant of our various peccadillos. Kudos to this dood. We kicked it off with some drinks -Scorpion Bowl for One for my one and a Mai Tai for moi. Fairly strong Mai Tai but the coup de gras was the Oriental Ice Tea which was tequila, rum, gin and vodka with a splash of Coke -a janky combo to be sure but all booze here, bro. I do wish though that it were true old school by way of using tiki mugs instead of plain glassware. This would kick it up another notch very much big time, and I bet would help their business as everyone loves tiki mugs. Right? I got the Hawaii 5-0 which was filet mignon (a good amount!) and pork and chicken and shrimp and more meat and veggies and stuff in the usual mystery house brown sauce. It was quite copious and tasty and my One had her usual Poo-Poo Pladder and Fried Rice with the usual ingredients of the usual fare. We asked for a pot of tea and it was piping hot and au gratis. They also have a lounge in the back which appeared to be comprised mostly of Billerician regulars guffawing and whooping it up nicely. Solid old school... read more

I can honestly say the food was very good. But what was disappointing we got a Poopoo platter for two we used to get for chicken wings six chicken fingers for crab Rangoon's to beef sticks. I just noticed that they cut it all down to four chicken fingers for crab Rangoon's two chicken wings period cut way back and raise the price way up no no no read more

Food was good. Very fresh. We don't get the bone in ribs anymore because they deep fry them to warm them up. Water & soda water in drinks tastes bad here. Service was fine. No ambiance to speak of. Friday nights music trivia is fun. read more

This is one of my standard stops on my way home from Logan for some take-out for the family and a Mai Tai or Fog Cutter while I'm waiting. Is it the best Chinese food in the area? No...but you know what I still love this place. I love the ambiance of the "old school" Polynesian lounge, and in my opinion, the food is better under the new ownership. I'll always love this place...there aren't many left so get here while you can. read more

The food, service and ambiance are great but how do prices go up 300% in 5 years? Your lunch specials went from 5.95 to 18.00. Crazy

Oh the Jade. A staple from my childhood. I was in my hometown for my 20th high school reunion and I had to take my husband to the Jade immediately upon entering Billerica. We grabbed seats in the lounge and I noticed the seats looked brand new, a nice touch. The place looked the same from my last visit about 10 or so years ago. Sure the food isn't the greatest, but it's home and it's delicious. I ordered a Mai Tai and it about knocked me on my rear. So strong and not in a bad way, but I did need to wait for a bit of the ice to melt. Again not complaining. We got a pupu platter and waited for that greasy goodness. And greasy it was along with the beef on a stick. I could have consumed about 20 more crab rangoon, but I had said reunion to attend the next day, so I needed to right in my dress. We ended up chatting with a couple next to us for a while and enjoyed the banter. Cheap strong drinks, greasy chinese food, and solid conversation, it was good to be home! read more

The new owner of this restaurant needs to learn how to treat clients. My friend and I ordered wonton soup and hot and sour soup. Neither soup was good. The hot and sour was watery with no taste and the wontons soup was horrible The egg rolls tasted like they came from a frozen food isle in a supermarket. The shrimp special tasted horrible we hardly ate it and the owner was arguing about giving us a refund for it. The owner told us we should have asked for a taste of his dishes, seriously? No noodles with the dinner,we were served bread? White rice was an extra charge When we told the owner how bad the food was instead of apologizing he said that's the way he makes his food He continued to argue that his Shrimp was fresh and good. I wouldn't feed this food to my dog. The only good thing was the waiter was terrific. Do yourself a favor if you want good food don't go to this place. read more

Almost everything was delicious. The moo shoo pork and the shrimp and broccoli were 5-star dishes. The shrimp lo mein was good. We definitely will come back again. One star less than 5-star rating because the pork fried rice and the chicken teriyaki appetizer were dry. read more

Jade Pacific is a perfect example of the classic phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover." For years, while driving past the big powder blue Chinese restaurant, which sits pretty close to busy Boston Road, my mom would exclaim "Ugh, just look at that place! I would never eat there." Let's just say the building certainly lacks curb appeal. Yesterday was not my first visit to Jade Pacific. I have dined here many times before and have been persuading my mom for years to give it a chance. Well, yesterday I succeeded and low and behold she was pleasantly surprised. I am in the midst of compiling a list of twelve (one per month for a year) of local Chinese restaurants which I consider to be classics. I am referring to my list as the Chinese Dive Tour. The ones that have been around forever with the orange vinyl booths, dragon wallpaper, and animal horoscopes on the placemats. I am a huge fan of the old school, American-ized Chinese food. Jade Pacific delivers classic appetizers such as heavily battered chicken fingers, crispy crab Rangoon, and much more. They are presented with a flaming Pu Pu platter which adds the perfect touch. Large double wooden doors greet you at the entrance. For just a second you may wonder what lies on the other side, but trust me, it's not so bad. The interior is dated, yet charming, with red/orange vinyl covered seating, wildly patterned wall to wall carpeting, and a large wall mural dimly lit by blue lights for atmosphere. The best part of Jade Pacific, aside from the food, is the friendly factor. The staff is always extremely welcoming, friendly, and efficient. Our waitress last night performed her job very well and had a smile on her face the whole time. The drink menu at Jade deserves a special shout out as they offer a varied selection of classic Chinese style drinks including the famous Mai Tai, Coconut Cooler, and many other tropical concoctions. I also love the classic, old school menu which portray the drinks as colorful illustrations. The food, as I mentioned above, is your average Polynesian style Chinese cuisine. I haven't tried much beyond the Pu Pu Platter. Props to the steak teriyaki, which I swear is the best I've ever had. Three stars to Jade Pacific. It is what it is and does it well, but I don't think I could offer more stars. It is an old-school dive, but delivers some decent food if you crave some greasy, delicious Chinese. Keep this in mind and you won't be disappointed. read more

I used to brag about the food at Jade Pacific and finally i brought a friend there for lunch. we each got a luncheon special that included BBQ ribs. it is pretty sad that the old people that used to own/run this restaurant have either sold it or it is under new management don't know which it is. but the food was sickening i took one bite out of a spare rib and sadly i spit it out. we were both sick for a few days after that. they used to be the best now i would never consider going near there again read more

I'll be honest, I used to hate Chinese food. But after moving down South, I find myself constantly craving it. This past weekend home I made sure I ate my weight in pork fried rice and all the other delicious food they offer. The chicken fingers have too much dough, not enough chicken....and I wish the rangoon had a little more cream cheese. Other than that...it's perfect! They are not kidding around with the drinks. Don't light a match around me after I drink a Planters Punch! AND BONUS (since the people at Wu Loon are dumb and can't figure it out) THEY KNOW HOW TO READ A MILITARY ID! read more

I'm very sad to have to be writing this review, but tonight's meal was a total fail! We have been eating at the Jade pacific since the early 90's and have always raved about the food, even after the ownership change, the food was just as good if not better, but everything that we ordered tonight was OLD! First off, the pupu platter is much smaller than before, only 2 chicken wings. The boneless ribs looked like rigormortis set in, the chicken fingers were reheated and very tough the crab rangoon were cold and the eggroll tasted like freezer burn with a gallon of oil spilling out. The lobster sauce was like glue and tasteless. It must have been left over from lunch and reheated. And, the rice was petrified....so old and hard, it could have been from last week. After tonight, I really do not think we will ever return! read more

This place is disgusting and makes me want to die. No, seriously. Growing up, I used to get dragged here by my grandfather who thought the food was "outstanding" and couldn't envision eating Chinese food from any other establishment. So the whole damn family would pile into the station wagon with my grandfather behind the wheel, and we'd make the hour long journey from the NH seacoast to Billerica. Of course with my grandfather driving, it usually took more like two hours. After an agonizingly lengthy drive during which I would be forced to endure car sickness and war stories that I'd heard twenty times before, the Jade would loom up in the distance, casting an air of cheapness over the already scummy and run-down Boston Road. First let's start with the appearance. From the outside, the Jade Pacific is either constructed out of cinder blocks or a stucco-type material, and is painted the most ghastly and nauseating shade of institutional robin's egg blue. It also has no windows. The parking lot is moderately sized, but is overrun with pot holes and kicked up chunks of asphalt. Oh, and a friend of mine that attended Billerica Memorial High School told me that one of his classmates was dumped in that parking lot late one night and left to die of a heroin overdose. Inside, the physical state of affairs isn't much better. Yes, the dining room is spacious and therefore affords a level of privacy and isolation away from other diners, and that's not so bad. But, due to the lack of windows, you'd almost be better off eating in a dungeon. The incandescent lights provide little illumination and it's difficult to read the menu when you can barely make out the face of the person sitting across the table from you. It smells musty inside and the carpet is filthy, covered in ground up particles of dirt and crushed fortune cookie crumbs. The bathrooms aren't much better. You can rest assured that whatever you order from the menu, you'll receive a heaping portion of it. However, after a few bites, you'll wish that you didn't have that much low-grade Chinese food staring up at you from your plate. The fried chicken is too dry, the fried shrimp is 95% batter, the rice is bland and sticks together, the noodles taste like Alpo, the spare ribs are more akin to bicycle inner tubes, and the fortune cookies are always stale. Stay far, far away from the Jade Pacific, unless your idea of a pleasurable dining experience is leaving a restaurant feeling as if you've just had a full cement mixer unload down your throat. read more

I work in Burlington....until next Thursday, when my Blue overlords move my coworkers and me to Westford. In honor of the move, I submit a review of Jade Pacific, our go-to Chinese Restaurant. The lighting is dim. The decor is dingy. There are no windows on three sides of the building. The mural on the back wall is peeling. The ceiling doesn't look very sturdy. The men's room smells like the inside of the Clorox factory. The rugs are filthy. The staff knows only enough English to take your order and give you the check. The tables are cramped. The chairs are uncomfortable. The forks are all bent. The glasses are too small. They bring Italian bread as an appetizer instead of noodles. The food is too greasy. I always feel sick after I eat here. Whenever someone mentions the number "22" I will recall your greasy fried rice, chunky boneless ribs, overdone beef teriyaki and over-battered chicken fingers.... ...and shed a tear. I'm going to miss you, Jade Pacific. You are the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. (Huge portions; crazy good prices; humongous and potent alcoholic drinks; friendly service. Great for a worktime lunch or a very late night snack.) read more

PACIFIC JADE.....Mediocre food at best...typical American Chinese with loads of grease....Ate there amazingly enough twice......There are plenty more places to go....I would say RUN as if you take a look driving up to the door that leads to the kitchen....it is OUTSIDE on the MAIN road.....filthy disgusting doorway with TRASH outside of it.....you can see time to time when you drive by the cooks or kitchen crew out side this doorway SMOKING cigarettes.....I do not know why the owner has not hidden this doorway from the eye of the public...it is absolutely repulsive to see when driving up....and if this is the way they present themselves in public view IMAGINE that the cooks do NOT wash their hands after smoking, and probably not after going to the restroom. I once told them up front while there eating that the restroom toilet was overflowing...YES, they sent someone from the KITCHEN with a dirty plunger to the restroom...he walked right out of the kitchen with the plunger (YES, the KITCHEN) and walked it across the carpet in the lobby to the restroom....I betcha he never washed his hands and then prepared food! I would give it NO STARS if I could........try someone else... Unless of course you just want a strong cocktail and like to get drunk at chinese food restaurants and eat their food while you are buzzed....get sick the next day and really dont know if it is from the FOOD or the DRINKS!!! Good luck! May the force be with you! read more

Hahaha good lord. I can't believe people have actually reviewed the good old Jade. I'll make this short. This is a place that my friends and I will hit up if we're going out in the area for a couple reasons. 1-It's usually quiet and the seats are very plush. 2-The food is greasy as hell and great late at night. 3-If you have 15 dollars in your pocket and a decent ID, you can walk out of that place tanked. Despite the three drink MAX, the 5 dollar cocktail menu consists of 700 calorie drinks with about 4 ounces of booze and delicious exotic juices. Alright, maybe it's just shitty canned pineapple juice. But fuck it. I'm very fond of the Jade. read more

I have a few colleagues from England and Gardner, MA who when they are in town frequent this establishment. I mention this because the English Chaps are convinced this is "Chinese Food Shangra La"... I was skeptical at first because I am NOT a Chinese food fan inside the U.S. When I lived in Hawaii, I became hooked on their fresh approach, with no brown sauces or deep fried everthing dishes. So then I came to the Jade Pacific... As a kid having had Chinese in NY and later in Washington D.C. I found this same style everwhere. Jade Pacific actually has shown me what they are all shooting for! Now my first rule of thumb is don't write a review if you are just going to complain. I don't really want to read about how you were tick'ed off about not having your hind quarters kissed by the staff. If you go here, you will actually be given the kind of service that you just CAN'T complain about. If you do, you probably have a massive hang over, your dog bit you and you just got fired. This restaurant is excellent, with nice comfy booths, and the food is worth driving many a mile to enjoy. I will say they have a pretty good staff too. They make the absolute best knock out Mai Tai's I have EVER had. If you want a drink that after three you will probably not remember the rest of your meal, then this is where you go. However, the staff will CUT YOU OFF at three... I kinda like that... All I can tell you, is if you go there with friends who are funny, and drink Mai Tai's and have lots of food, you will leave with your gut busting and GREAT memories! It is just one of those places. read more

Went in on Sunday for dinner with my husband. Everything was delicious. The new owner is doing a great job.

Be prepared to enter a time warp when you walk inside Jade Pacific. This is how I imagine Chinese restaurants looked in the early 1970s. The red, vinyl booths, low lighting, and extensive drink menu takes me back to a time when going out for Chinese food was a more exciting experience. The prices are fair, the portions are enormous, and they even have absinthe. You'll definitely be taking home leftovers. I hear the bar is something and two of my neighbors, who are now engaged, met there. It looks unassuming enough on the outside (more like a white concrete block), but inside lurks an old fashioned dining experience you've got to try. read more

Right after being seated the waiter asked what we wanted to drink and I asked for a beer, He then asked me if I was drinking before I came which I thought was strange I've never been asked that before And I had just come out of work so I told him no. Then he asked me if I was sure and I said I'm sure then he told me it looks like I've been drinking and he wouldn't serve me. I found this very insulting I was sober as a judge and there were many loud clearly intoxicated people at the bar getting served. I came the week before and had a good experience but then this happened and I will never come back again. Very disappointing read more

SF rating: 3.6 Stealth Foodies landed and expanded in Billerica, MA this weekend and dined at JADE PACIFIC. If you're looking for delightful servers, modern ambiance, and wow'ing your first date: this would not be that place. Don't let the outside fool you, though it looks like an abandoned, run-down building-for-sale it isn't. Get ready to step into your time machine and head back to the 60s and 70s of Polynesian/Chinese food. And when you walk through the doors, the interior doesn't get any better. Tacky, tacky, tacky...but has some of the best Asian fare that Stealth Foodies have had. Everything from the Wonton Soup to the Pu Pu platter is fresh, generous portions, doesn't taste like a mound of MSG. Your time travel experience continues with the traditional drink menu that includes Zombies, Scorpion Bowls and Suffering Bastards that chase you to your pineapple and fortune cookie ending. What the place lacks in ambiance it makes up with good food at great prices. Stealth Foodies went for a lighter meal, so we ordered: * Chicken Wonton soup ($2.50): great starter - came with 4 wontons, not 1 or 2 as other places. * Crab Rangoon ($6.45): we love Crab Rangoon, and JADE PACIFIC serves up a pile of at least 12 (although we lost count but probably closer to 18.) Compare to other local Chinese restaurants, where you get 6 for about the same price. * Pork Fried Rice (small: $4.15): heaping mound, certainly plenty for two people. A bit heavier on the oil for our tastes, but then again it is fried rice. Still very good. * Egg rolls (2 for $5.00): crispy, fresh, not greasy. The servers in general are serious and efficient, never rude, but busy and not about to engage in pleasantries. Imagine being waited on by a Vulcan, for you Star Trek fans. Bottom line: the JADE PACIFIC is a local yokel restaurant you would only know about if you lived here. Definitely worth putting another quarter in your time machine. Eat long and prosper! read more

This place is awesome. 'Nuff said. You want to hear more? OK, OK. I've been here now on several occasions, mostly in the lounge, but last night, I got to sit in the dining room. I was very excited. They do here what you'd expect. They make the gasoline-like Polynesian cocktails that you crave after a long day or week at work. The service is a bit surly, but endearing and the staff truly works hard. The food is, well, exactly what you crave after a long day or week at work.
