Since my last review I've ordered food for pick-up twice. I like their dim sum menu and my interactions with the staff have been consistently pleasant. The rest of the food I've tried is pretty standard for this type of cuisine in this part of the state. In a pinch, I'll order from this joint. That said it is way below average. I ordered Mongolian beef once (you'll probably only order things once) and the beef was lost in a sea of batter from frying. Not like a little corn starch or flour dusting (expected), but like searching for a bite of beef inside of a muffin. Same story with their honey walnut prawns. The portions are HUGE but a lot of meh food isn't exactly a win. I want to say that the egg rolls were alright. Maybe, but I don't even really remember. I genuinely dislike giving poor reviews and I wasn't going to share this one but not sharing poor experiences is just as unfair as posting only poor experiences. I guess I can say that the delivery was timely and the delivery person was pleasant enough but that's where the good news ends. The egg rolls were cold and greasy. The potstickers had a small amount of nearly flavorless filling inside these incredibly thick, gummy, rubbery wrappers unlike anything I have tasted since that time I tried eating paste in first grade art class. The sweet and sour pork and almond chicken were indistinguishable lumps of dry and hard meat chunks inside impossibly thick and doughy batter. Each was accompanied by a cup of sauce (salty and bland for the chicken, sugary and bland for the pork) but we lost track of which dish was which and found it didn't really matter. The fried rice was dry and flavorless while the Lo Mein was oily and flavorless. I'm so reluctant to post this as I dislike being so negative but I'm being honest. Screw this place! Longtime customer but that ended today! I Eat24 ordered and paid with Paypal--when i showed up to get the order the owner accused me of not picking up my last order--which is a complete lie. Even if I did not pick it up she still would have made the $ right? I informed her that it was not me and that she had me mistaken with someone else yet she insisted on complaining to me about something that I did not do. And this has happened before--she complains at people. I walked out, contacted Eat24 and cancelled the order. If that's how she treats customers forget it--I'll eat at McDonalds before I ever walk into Jade Garden again. The food is not that great anyway, I only ate there because I could pay with Paypal. We ordered the shrimp fried rice, Mongolian beef and of course general tso's chicken, delivery was a little later than the estimated time, but of course that's not to huge of an issue. This is the only place that delivers to my house according to grub hub other than the many standard pizza chains in the area. Average food. VERY average food . Not bad or anything, just unremarkable. I've tried most of the dinner combos and , although completely edible, nothing stood out . Usually, a Chinese place has at least ONE thing that really brings me back , and I have yet to find one here. As another reviewer remarked, the almond chicken is simply deep fried tempura chicken pieces with a fairly bland gravy on it. Not bad , but nothing special. The bar is set kinda high around here for Asian cuisine , compared to say, the Midwest... this place might might be considered quite good back there. But locally , Hunan Palace, a few blocks east on Pacific Ave. smashes this place on pretty much every classic Chinese-American dish , for a similar amount of coin (or less, in most cases). Even the uber-divey China Doll , one block north, has better tasting food....just don't glance into the shockingly dirty kitchen , you'll lose your appetite instantly. The tiny Jade Garden lounge , due to it's close proximity to the Everett Transient Station (SIC, intentionally) , Gospel Mission, and SnoCo county jail, attracts a fair number of homeless, or near-homeless types , as well as some hard core alkies and very recently released ex-cons from the jail, located just one block away . Since I LOVE a good troll bar , lightly sprinkled with freaks and ne'er-do-wells, I stop in here with my boys now and then, when we are out carousing. Also a great place to park (for free), have a few drinks, then walk over to the Everett Events Center....although the drinks aren't stupid cheap and/or strong , contrary to the tradition in many Chinese dive bars. (If you want a cheap , tall glass of liquor with a tiny spritz of mixer in it , head north one block to the China Doll!) Jade Garden has a Happy Hour, but it's nothing special.....50 cents off a beer, something like that. No great HH food deals, maybe a little break on appetizers. It should be noted that while this lounge can often attract some unsavories, it's not really connected to the restaurant directly, so the main restaurant is a much "safer" environment , not divey in the least , or inhabited by drunken trolls. The owner , Sue, is a wonderfully nice lady .... always dressed in a black quilted vest ,with a warm personality , always happy to chat. I really, really want to see her succeed ,and the place is often empty or near empty, so I stop in and spend some coin here on drinks and dinner from time to time....even though I can get tastier food at Hunan Palace, three minutes away. My experience here was so terrible that I was inspired to create a yelp account. I ordered the honey walnut prawn lunch special. It includes choice of soup, egg roll or BBQ pork and fried rice or steamed rice. I got the egg flower soup, egg roll and fried rice. The soup came out first, it was flavorless and gelatinous and had peas, carrots and corn in it, obviously from a frozen vegetable package. I took one sip and had no desire for any more. The blandness combined with the goo-like consistency turned my stomach. Next came the egg-roll, which was fine, a standard vegetable deep fried egg roll. And then, the main course, honey walnut prawns, one of my favorite dishes to order at Chinese restaurants. It came on a bed of cabbage and was covered in a thick white sauce. My first bite revealed that the sauce was actually just mayonaise and I had to struggle to keep chewing. There was no sweetness, no honey flavor, it was just mayonaise. Already somewhat queasy from the soup, i couldn't take another bite. Also, the walnuts were burned. The best part came when the waitress asked how everything was. I told the waitress I couldn't eat it and before I could say anything else, she stepped away from the table and walked back to the kitchen. My friends and I exchanged quizzical looks, and I thought she just hadn't understood what I'd said. The next time we saw her was when she brought the checks and asked if I wanted a box. I told her no, I found the food nauseating and was sending it back. She said nothing and took the food away. By now I'd decided that this was the most awkward eating experience I'd ever had, but then she comes back for the check and after my friends put their cards down, she turns to me and glares pointedly. I said, "how much do I owe you for an egg roll?" She replied, with a look of disbelief, "You can't just order food and not pay because you don't like the flavor! Next time when you come back order something different!" I informed her I would not be coming back as the customer service, like the food, was terrible and I would be saying so on yelp. Oh, but she didn't let that stand! My friends and I were treated to a lecture on how she has never had any complaints about her food, how all her reviews online are good, and it was my problem for not liking her food. She attempted to continue, but at that point I began to comment to my friends how wonderful it was to be lectured at a restaurant with horrible food by a rude waitress, and we got up, paid and left. My credit card company will be removing the charge. Avoid this place. We should have turned around when we saw we were the only customers at lunchtime. BTW, we're in the Navy and were there in uniform and still got treated like crap. read more

The food was cold and even though the delivery driver called me five times to confirm the delivery address (new residence), I still had to go meet him. Food was mediocre once reheated. And the lady on the phone said oh they are cooking it now and when I asked why it's still cooking she interrupted me in the middle of talking and rambled about how the food was cooking and we should have it in 20 minutes. When I began to ask what are they going to do if it's later than that she said, "ok, good-bye!" While I was still talking! Sue is great! My girlfriend takes the train to the Everett park and ride and i have to kill time while waiting for her so I like to try the local area for food. This restaurant has the best hot and sour soup I have found yet and I love hot and sour soup! I am a legal assistant in a small office on Colby Avenue. I've been here 10 years on 05/30/13. My boss and only other coworker go out for lunch at least three times per week, usually on Mondays, we can be seen at the second round table with the red Lazy Susan, scarfing on our usual favorites, with an occasional extra thrown in. Okay, do you like curry? My coworker orders the beef curry without bell pepper (so they add a bit more onion and celery) along with steamed rice. She truly enjoys it. The yellow/green curry sauce is pungent and redolent of allspice and cinnamon. My boss usually order the General Tsao chicken but one of his favorites is the house chow mein with generous portions of shrimp, beef, chicken and BBQ pork, for a little extra. I have tried several dishes on the menu but usually stick to my favorites as it's hard to decide. If you like spicy and sweet, I highly recommend the Crispy Sesame Beef but ask them to go easy on the sauce and heavy on the sesame and medium spice. The result will be crispy- not-greasy, tender beef thinly glazed with a sweet sauce that definitely has you reaching for your napkin as the roof of your mouth pleasantly tingles from the chili sauce. If you like it spicier, just as Sue for some chili oil. Another favorite, if you like eggplant, is the Eggplant Hot Pot. The dish arrives in sizzling hot pot, guaranteeing your table to be the focus of attention for a while. The dish is amazingly good but savory, not sweet. Which I adore, when I'm in the mood. As I am following the Atkins Diet closely, this dish is divine spooned over fresh bean sprouts (which Sue is more than happy to provide for no additional charge). I like the crunchy texture combined with this succulent and rich dish of large slices of Japanese eggplant (cut into 1/2" thick sticks, not rounds) and combined with tender julienned slices of pork with onions and topped by a garnish of fresh green onion. I'm sure it's delicious over rice. The sauce is so good, I like dipping pieces of my fried garlic chicken wing in it. That's another go-to dish for both my coworker and myself. We adore their garlic chicken wings. You definitely want an order all to yourself! The breading is nearly non-existent, it's so light. I don't care for those heavily battered wings you find elsewhere. Their egg drop soup (I order mine without the peas and carrots...as that just seems weird to me but my coworker likes them) is wonderful. Thick, rich, and hearty. My boss loves their hot-and-sour soup but my favorite still remains their wonton soup (it's 50 cents more on the lunch menu). The broth is excellent (consommé clear, slightly peppery) while the dumpling is tender with an excellent minced pork filling. The large bowl of wonton is accompanied by the usual additions of shrimp, BBQ pork, chicken but the napa cabbage and bok choy stems make this soup complete. I enjoy their fried eggplant but I usually order it without the prawn and minced chicken stuffing. That way I receive four slices instead of three along with their savory garlic sauce. Divine! I've sampled the spring rolls from Bejing Garden, Hunan Palace, Lilly's Garden, China Doll, Hong's and an assortment of others. With the single exception of Hong Kong Restaurant located 45 minutes North in Mount Vernon off College Way, Jade Garden has the BEST spring rolls. If you order them off the dim sum menu, it's a better deal as you'll receive three instead of two for just a few cents more. If you don't like breaded items like Almond Fried Chicken or Crispy Beef, you must try the Twice-Cooked Pork. Tender slices of pork stir-fried with cabbage and onions in a slightly-sweet and more-than-slightly spicy sauce is wonderful. I'm going to try their moo goo gai pen soon. Let's face it...everything there is wonderful...um...except the egg foo yung. If you're in Everett and like egg foo yung, go to Bejing Garden off Rucker. They're pretty good. Not great but good. The best egg foo yung is at Hong Kong in Mount Vernon. No question. read more

I have ordered from Jade Garden a number of times, The food is awesome, I particularly like their Shu Mai Dim Sum, the Mu Shu Pork and the Wor Wonton Soup, however, the service is terrible, out of the times I've ordered, half the time the food takes well over an hour to get to me, if the food wasn't so good, I wouldn't order from them again. Don't order from them if you're on a time limit, but if you've got some time to kill, and aren't worried about when your food gets to you, try them out. read more

So, I have been on a quest lately to expand my palette and to try more international food options. After some "yelping" my coworker and I decided to try this place to get dim sum. Now, I have never gotten dim sum and still have not. Why is that, you might ask? Well, we called before we headed out for lunch. Because we read the reviews ahead of time we expected the place to be crowded and called beforehand. We asked if it was busy and how long the wait would be for three people. The lady on the phone said it would be 13 minutes and that she would reserve a spot for us. She asked for a name for the reservation. We arrived in about 8 minutes, before our reservation. When we walked up to the counter my coworker told her we arrived, and the lady at the counter said, you called, but there are 20 people in front of you, so it will be about 45 minutes. When my coworker told her that she was informed the wait would be 13 minutes and that we'd arrived on time, the lady at the counter started cussing in what I assume to be Chinese. I have never experienced such rude service. That is always going to be a turn off for me and we settled on what turned our to be a nice restaurant about a block away. Either the food here is so good people are willing to put up with awful customer service or they don't notice it (which would be pretty hard to do). All I can say is that these people should figure out a way to run their business without the snarky attitude. I will not be coming back. read more

Fried rice is alright. Sesame chicken is comparable to every other place. Though the veggies were good! Their delivery staff is great; friendly. Reading through the reviews I realize that my experience is, unfortunately, fairly typical. I, too, had to wait 2 hrs for a simple delivery. I was told the food was out for delivery, contacted yelp 24 after over an hour, and called the restaurant and got no answer. When the food did arrive, 2 hrs after I ordered it AND after I finally requested the order be cancelled, it was soggy from all the condensation. Nothing but excuses from the delivery driver and still had to pay. A very small refund was offered only after I complained to Yelp 24. I have ordered from them many times before as they USED TO have very tasty potstickers, but the last several times the food has gone downhill and delivery keeps getting worse. Pros: pretty quick delivery, General Tso's chicken had a nice sauce, pot stickers were gigantic, fried rice was good. Cons: a bit pricey, smaller than average portions, pot stickers were way too pink in the middle, kung pao prawns was most squash and celery with 6 shrimp.
