OMFG. Jacques Torres cookie dough ice cream made with their infamous chocolate chip cookies. Best. Ice cream. Ever. Thank you. read more

Oh hi, Jacques Torres. You ruined other hot chocolate for me. Hope you're well. read more

I'm a fan of LA Burdicks, but Jacque Torres is also very good. This location in DUMBO is romantic and fun. There are huge windows through which to watch the chocolate making process. It's on a cobble stone road next to abandoned warehouses near the East River. You really feel like you're in old New York or London coming here. Parking is terrible, so if you're driving, you're better off just paying for a garage. read more

Heavenly chocolate, absolutely heavenly. Also amazing sorbet. They have a few seats to relax and enjoy the chocolate but they're also just a few steps from the water and Brooklyn Bridge so you can take it to go and enjoy the scenery as well. read more

Jacques Torres Chocolate - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

My friends and I almost came here twice in one day for their famous chocolate chip cookies. The workers seemed a little disoriented but the product came out really well. read more

I would give this place 5 stars on taste, but it has to lose one on price. It is great chocolate. No question about it. However, at $1.50 a piece, that might be a big overkill. I don't mind paying that amount if I buy it a truffle at a time in a cafe setting (read: The Chocolate Room), but for mass produced chocolates boxed up, they are a bit overpriced. Though they claim to be artisan chocolates, their chocolate factory overflowing with boxes and heaps of confections says otherwise. Plus, the 18 y/o's in the back boxing/making the chocolates doesn't give their claim of master chocolatier much heft. However, the chocolates remain delectable, but I can't help feeling soaked after buying some. Also, be prepared to walk a bit to get to this section of dumbo. It's not bad because there are some great pizza (Grimaldi's), and wine in the neighborhood, and the water view helps too. read more

It sucks that I have to wait until summer for them to open every year. They have about 8-10 flavors a day and it changes everyday; they make small batches everyday. When they run out of a flavor that day, it's done. I love to try the different flavors, but sometimes when I crave a certain flavor it sucks that some days I will be able to satisfy that craving and other days I'm S.O.L. I always get it on a cone and it automatically comes on a waffle cone. Their ice cream sandwich is also really good. I love love LOVE their cookie! Although, I usually like to eat their cookie by itself. The good thing is I can always get a cookie whenever I want, since their chocolate shop next door is open year round. Back to the ice cream...I still haven't tried their soft serve, but I'm sure it's good. Since it's only open in the summer and I feel that their ice cream is overly soft, I couldn't give them 5 stars. read more

Their strength is presentation. My double sided chocolate chip cookie (which was delicious) was so nicely wrapped that I decided to save the rich red velvet ribbon it came with. read more

Not a place you'll find many locals, but sometimes you just need a hot chocolate while exploring the area. I didn't get to try many options, but I'd happily return for another hot chocolate one day. read more

Hot chocolate is so incredibly rich, you might not be able to finish the whole thing yourself. I love the dark-chocolate covered orange rinds and just about everything else I've tried. Ok, I haven't tried as much as I've wanted to, because it's pricey, but it's top-quality. In a great, gritty, neighborhood that's fun to walk around and explore. You think, "Wow, I wonder what was here 50 years ago." and, "Wow, I wonder what is here now?" I can't wait to see what this neighborhood looks like in 15 years. Watch out... read more

I'm so lucky to work around here. Everyone has to try Jacques Torres' signature cookie ice cream, which contains pieces of his chocolate chip cookies. I also tried the plain banana, and it was banana-licious! A scoop is just a little bit over $3, and it's so worth it!! If you see yourself having more or sharing with your significant other, it's better to get a quart for $7.50 which consists of at least 4 scoops. I didn't try the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich, but I'm saving that for another trip. read more

Expensive but worth it. You can't go wrong with champagne truffles and Wicked Hot Chocolate (allspice, cinnamon, ground, sweet ancho chili peppers, and smoked, ground chipotle chili peppers) Amazing! Wow! read more

Jacques Torres Chocolate - Mr. Chocolate Man himself! - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I like to imagine that this hot chocolate is what the river was made of in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. The cookies are more like chunks of chocolate with bits of cookie attached. Hands down the best chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate I've ever tasted. Luckily I have a 2 hour drive stopping me from partaking too often. read more

Totally worth the expense, but if you bring anything back to work, take my advice and put them in a drawer - they WILL be stolen. I like the hot chocolate best. Side effects may include: instant food coma, tingling taste buds and the uncontrollable urge to return to the store when you're not even halfway done. But at least it's hard to steal! read more

I love chocolate. Give me, give me, give me!!! Wait, I have Jacque Torres chocolate in the other room...chocolate covered marshmallows, malt balls, and chocolate almonds. Aren't you jealous?!?! Their hot chocolate was deeeee-lish too! :) read more

Best chocolatier in NY! From the bon-bons/truffles/pastilles to the dipped goodies to the beverage bar to the cookies to the DARK CHOCOLATE BARK.. this place is as good as it gets.. Fun, fresh and delicious.. Sure you could buy a fine dolfin chocolate at d&d, but it was made 5 months ago and sat on a ship for 2 of those months.. In NY, Jacques Torres is IT. P.S. Brooklyn location has less size and less personality, King St. is a better experience if you're just going to have one~ read more

I once saw Jacques on Atlantic Avenue, in his chef's jacket, asking a dry goods store owner for fresh mint. It was a while ago (2003?) so he must have just been opening up this place and searching for local sources of ingredients. Jacques didn't find any fresh mint at that store, but my friend and I stopped to talk to him. He seemed to be an all around great guy. This place is quite a bit smaller than his store in SoHo, but the chocolate making part of the store also has glass walls. Jacques Torres Chocolate makes a great pit stop on open studio days in DUMBO, or after you're just walked across the Brooklyn Bridge (or before, if you're going in that direction). read more

It was a good place for an incredible hot chocolate, excellent chocolate chip cookies and my favorite but expensive the bark.. almonds pistachios and milk chocolate goodness. please note mostly tourist but great spot for ice cream or chocolate treats read more

Jacques Torres Chocolate - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

This place is similar to Chocolate Haven in Manhattan (which I already reviewed), but you don't see a factory here. Instead, it's literally eye candy everywhere in a jewel box. Every surface is a sparkly, colored, warm and has some form of chocolate on it. The Wicked Hot Chocolate and Wicked Mocha are flawless, just like at Chocolate Haven, but FYI: they're cheaper here! And if you want a little snack head across the street to Almondine, which is also Jacques'. read more

Chocolate was alright. Good, but I thought it would be fantastic. I got a "mystery" truffle and one other. It's been awhile so I can remember what the flavors were. I also got an orange chocolate bar that was quite good, but again, I've had better orange chocolate bars. They also sell cookies and hot cocoa here. If you're nearby this place is worth a visit. Don't forget to go next door for the ice cream shop! read more

Oh Jacques, you melt in my mouth! I love your soft chocolaty smoothness, your rich and sweet decadence, your creamy bittersweet lingering aftertaste... Maybe you should offer a chocolate bathing experience. Or at least soft cushions on the floor after a near orgasmic treat! read more

Dumbo is so far away. So, so, so far away. Mr. Torres did this on purpose -- it's all in his master plan to emulate Willy Wonka, sticking a chocolate factory in unreachable (okay, I'm exaggerating) Brooklyn that people can think about, dream about, discuss with grandfathers, but rarely, if ever, go. However, if you do make it into Mr. Torres' chocolate factory, then you will not be disappointed. You may even feel like Charlie himself, biting into one of his delicacies. I only speak from experience. read more

My husband and I ducked in here to escape the cold while out in DUMBO this weekend. We'd, of course, heard many great things about the place and were subsequently disappointed by the underwhelming experience. We decided on a cookie (the "mudslide") and a "classic" hot chocolate. The cookie was just okay - the flavor was nice and chocolatey, but it was frankly kind of dry. The hot chocolate was downright disgusting - it tasted like a liquid brownie (not in the good way that you might be imagining but in the sense that it tasted like it had raw flour in it). I'm not objecting to the thickness of the drink either - I usually really like the thicker European style hot chocolate. This was just awful, though. read more

For the price JT charges, his cookies and chocolates better be that good. I like the hot chocolate but you are probably better off just asking for a sample than buying the full cup cos there is such a thing as too much of a good thing and a little goes a long way. It gets cloyingly sweet. TJ does 1lb + of chocolate for about $4. JT does 1 lb for $20. JT is great but not 5 times better. So buy only if you are truly prepared to spend. read more

After trying their pumpkin chocolate confection it would be wrong to give this place anything less than 5 stars. Do not rush through ANY of their desserts, let each one melt in your mouth and savor all the flavors/textures they took the time to infuse it with. Been there twice, worth the trip from Astoria, even by bike (you burn 1/2 of it off that way!). read more

Im not suprised of what I've read about this place. I think everyone has several points correct. First, the chocolate and the varieties offered are amazing. The look and feel of the place is very very cool. The Willy Wonka of expensive chocolate making in NYC. Second, there prices are ridiculous!!! I wont be making many trips there because of that alone. But I'm sure there are plenty of rich New Yorkers that will go more than myself. Thrid, the staff really does suck!! I see and get better personalities and service from the Mister Softy guy on the corner in the summer time. Perhaps they are underpaid, mistreated or just miserable. Not sure and don't care I have enough of my own problems. But from what I heard the owners wife / girlfiend is a real witch / bitch, somehow I think that is showing in the staffs morale read more

Yes the chocolates here are very good but holy mother of God their chocolate chip cookies are INSANE! It's like they put a chocolate bar slab through the center of the cookie, every single tiny bit of cookie gets a piece of chocolate!!!! read more

so far beyond overrated. I had the mudslide cookie, chocolate chip cookie, macarons, and their famous hot chocolate. All was super expensive and super not delicious. The cookies weren't every good and the hot chocolate was very average for the price. The macarons feel apart and were not airy like most french macarons. I was super disappointed. Save your money and your calories. Not coming back. read more

Yummy, yummy, I've got love in my tummy! My Brooklyn eating tour started here. Pain au chocolat and a mocha latte (aka their hot chocolate with 2 shots of espresso!). Dreams do come true Note it is very expensive and they don't accept credit / debit cards for orders less than $10. Whatev I spent about $35 before leaving the store... read more

Not quite sure if I love their easter decorations. Lots of gigantic bunnies and eggs creep me out a little bit. Went in for their hot chocolate. Melting chocolate goodness. No wonder he is known as Mr. Chocolate. Next time I will go for that fluffy and buttery croissant. Just wish they have more seating area. read more

If you walk the bridge with visitors to the city don't stop halfway.. continue on and reward yourself with treats from Jacques Torres. The Hot Choco is great.. not too rich and not too sweet. Buy some praline choclate by weight. Each nut tastes crisp and fresh and covered with delicious chocolate. Be warned, do not be distracted in DUMBO if you get there late in the afternoon.. it doesn't stay open too late and if you walk all that way and it's closed the disappointment is pretty overwhelming. read more

Ordered these through Goldbelly after seeing this guys commercial. Overpriced shipping for what I received! The cookies did not look like in the commercial! They were hard and stale and the chocolate looked ashy! Goldbelly uses fedex to ship these food products, and fedex DOES NOT handle the shipping of food appropriately! AND, they do not give refunds regardless if the shipping is horrible and the advertising is deceiving from what you actually receive! Do yourself a favor and by chips of hoy because these cookies are nothing to rave about! And Goldbelly is so slick, they don't allow real reviews to be left to help future customers. read more

Man, it was a mission to find this place. After deciding to walk the Brooklyn Bridge, I had a big craving for something sweet. And I remembered bookmarking this spot. So we decided to walk over and find it. Nestled in a small street/alley.. Is this cute dessert spot. I was pretty excited to finally check it out. I ordered the hot chocolate and the chocolate chip cookie. First of all, I should've bought more chocolate chip cookies An the mix for it. Probably one of the best cookies I've ever had... And it's huge. As for the hot chocolate, it was good. But it was a little too chocolatey for me. If you're in the area and you're cracking sweets, check this place out. But if not, there's other locations also. I believe there's one inside of the Rockefeller Center. read more

Jacques Torres Chocolate - Bunny and eggs - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

We were in DUMBO and my penpal had mentioned that a Jacques Torres store was in DUMBO and while leaving Brooklyn, we walked right by, so I had to go in to see the store. It's like a child walking into a toy store. The prices are steep. They make this really thick hot chocolate that someone was ordering, I'll bet it's really sweet. I ordered a cylinder of malt balls for $10 as a gift and a bar of 60% dark choc which was a hefty $5.50. It was very good but not the best choc I've ever had, which in my book is La Maison, a French chocolate shop we visited in Paris. They have a La Maison store in Manhattan too. Too bad we were in a hurry, otherwise I'd be eating my way thru the store. read more

The 2 stars are for the customer service today. It's apparently acceptable for the workers to not know what they're doing or what's in stock because they're "new-ish". Customer service is equally as important as the product and the service failed today. Hadn't been back in years so I was excited to go in today and will not be going back. Ta ta and on to places where the customer service are competent. read more

I remember years ago seeing a young Jacques Torres on Julia Child. I never forgot his enthusiasm for European quality chocolate during a time of TV dinners in America. I take the ferry from Williamsburg to DUMBO and head straight for Jacques Torres Chocolate. I'm a fan of Earlgrey dark chocolate, spicy hot chocolate and the atmosphere. Enjoy.. read more

Jacques was an experience. We initially wanted ice cream and choose Jacques over the other ice cream parlor, two doors down. When we tried to order the ice cream we were told we needed to pay at the other cashier first which was odd and lead to a lot of confusion. It also led us to purchasing a cookie as it was right in front of us. For the ice cream we got the 'cookie dough' and 'chocolate' ice cream. To be honest the cookie was actually the best part. It was delicious! The cookie dough ice cream was vanilla with pieces of cookies in it. The place was cute and had great music. read more
