It's good hot chocolate but is it really worth the ridiculous price??!!! Their container price has increased by 20% at the same time as they have slashed the size of their container by a quarter of a pound!!!! read more

I was walking around the area on Saturday early afternoon and found this place, so I came in. The place was very quiet. The gelato and ice cream section were kind of dead. It was empty, and I wasn't sure they served them at the time. They had many kinds of chocolate pieces, but I didn't get anything as they all looked too sweet for me. I thought this place was more lively and busy. It's a little cute store, and there were packaged chocolate that you can buy them as a gift. read more

I also had the Wicked Hot Chocolate on a rainy Thursday after MOMA at the Rockefeller Center location. It never disappoints!

This is by far my favorite chocolate shop in my favorite district in New York Metropolitan area. I try to visit whenever I'm in town. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, quarantine restrictions and just general humane behavior, travel was off the books this past year. However, to my surprise Goldbelly added Jacques Torres Chocolate to their restaurants lineup and I was able to send my favorite chocolate chip cookies for the holidays. I won't bore you with a description of the cookie, but just to say this is more like having some cookie dough with your chocolate chips. So, my recommendation is if you like chocolate, you like chocolate chip cookies, you like hot cocoa, make your way to DUMBO, right over the bridge in Brooklyn and get yourself some delicious goodness, but in a safe and socially distant way for now...and wear a mask to protect the lovely team at this location. For me, I can't wait to the day we get to travel safely again and visiting this store and getting myself some chocolate goodness. read more

I heard a lot about Jacques Torres Chocolate but didn't have a chance to try it in the past. I came here on an afternoon and there weren't many people inside. As the name suggested, there were a lot of different chocolate food. I tried their chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was alright but in my opinion, not worth the price. I might go back to try other kinds of chocolate food. read more

Great ice cream spot! When we walked in, we noticed it was moderately crowded, which is always a good sign. There were very friendly people working at this location. One of them immediately offered us samples to try. The ice cream wasn't out of this world, but it was really good. For me, ice cream is ice cream and I'm not very picky. It was a great treat after eating some yummy pizza at Juliana's. read more

Chocolate lovers paridise. They have pretty every chocolate you can think of, chocolate covered almonds, espresso beans, cheerios, marshmellow, bark, dark, milk, etc. They also have the best bon bons. The staff is also really nice and friendly. The atmosphere is cute, the is one table to sit at and a bench outside, but it is not really a place you go to chill and eat chocolate. Great place to get a small gift or treat for someone, as the presentation of everything is also very nice. read more

Amazing, rich, thick hot chocolate. Its taste is on par with Burdick's hot chocolate, but Jacques Torres is even thicker (didn't know it could be possible)! It was so thick that there were still little chunks of semi-melted chocolate in the drink. The hot chocolate is perfect on a cold winter day, especially if you happen to be wandering around DUMBO. This place is very welcoming during the holiday season, with bright and cheerful decorations. Too bad there aren't many tables (only 3 tables that fit 2-4 people each), so some people are turned away after they get their drinks. But still, it's all worth it. Try the hot chocolate. read more

Came here shivering after an unexpected snowfall. Easily the best hot chocolate I have ever had. The amazing smell of the place immediately drew me in. The barista accidentally gave me two shots of espresso in my mocha cocoa, but the liquid cocoa's velvety delicious flavor is still there. IN LOVE!!! BUT the aromas of chocolate quickly go away when you walk into the restroom into something your nose never needs to experience. Not the cleanest of places butttt still that taste aaah. read more

Every single time I walk by this place, my taste buds and nostrils lure me in. My eyes brighten like the fat kid from willy wonka with a reasonable amount of disposable income and a sweet tooth. To my disappointment, there are no oompa loompas and there is usually quite the line. Regardless, I take out my smartphone and type away for a check-in as I wait patiently to order. My adventurous side always gets something different. The first time was a chilled hot chocolate, which tasted like I was literally drinking a delicious bar of malk chocolate slowly through a straw. My love handles probably loved the extra company from the calories out of that cup. The second time I went, I had the spiced hot chocolate, which I figured warmed my soul a bit more. It really hit the spot and probably will be a local favorite during the winter. My homely comfort food side always gets the warm chocolate chip cookie. It's expensive, but my first warm chocolate chip cookie was probably the best one I've had in my life. I wasn't even high (aka taking flavor enhancing drugs)... that's just cheating. My verdict: This place is lovely. Get a chocolate chip cookie and try something else on the menu and you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

How wonderful to have an ice cream store next to a park that houses a magnificent carousel. Even better when the ice cream store serves the best ice cream sandwiches in Manhattan,..though the Jacques Torres on King Street tops it by having a worker outside to make your sandwiches fresh! On a hot summer day I rode Jane's Carousel and then came to get the ice cream sandwich and then went back to the Carousel. Now if I could make the ice cream sandwich last, then I would ride Jane's Carousel with an ice cream sandwich in one hand, and my honey's hand in my other, and life would be perfect then. $5.50 gets you a huge sandwich, good enough to share. My sister, a very fussy critic, keeps talking about the ice cream sandwich we shared at the Manhattan location. One of life's simple pleasures. Vanilla or strawberry tastes the best with the cookies. I am a bona fide chocoholic but somehow, chocolate ice cream cancels out the chocolate in the cookies while the other two flavors enhance it. Vanilla is smooth and rich while the strawberry is slightly tart, a nice balance. The frozen hot chocolate at Jacques is also amazing. read more

I don't really get their chocolate or cakes but the spiced hot chocolate, I love. It's appropriately named also. Wicked. How very 'me'. I've been here for their hot chocolate multiple times - it's delicious and not too sweet - but had never actually eaten anything. I decided it was about time to try their world famous cookies and they did not disappoint! They are large thin cookies more on the chewy side but with crunchy edges. I got the chocolate chip, which is obviously loaded with their super high quality chocolate and it was amazing! Totally worth the hype. Not to mention the staff was super energetic and nice. I also got an espresso which was very good. Thank you! read more

Probably the best chocolate chip cookies you can get! Jacques Torres cookies are made with thin layers of chocolate in between cookie and is EXTRA delicious heated up! The hot chocolate was so chocolate-y and a great treat anytime and even better in the winter! The only problem is the location where it's near impossible to even jump out of the car bc of all the "no standing" rules, but I DO IT ANYWAY! =) read more

After a lot of pictures in the park, we took in dinner at Grimaldi's, a famous pizza place in Brooklyn. Thanh had recommended Di Fara's, but it was just too far. Oh, before Grimaldi's, we went into one of Jacques Torres' chocolate shops. I wasn't intent on buying anything, though I was tempted to do so. Especially that dark chocolate bar with orange peel. Only with my brother's prodding did I get some white chocolate-covered macadamia balls for my aunt. Expensive stuff so they'd better be pretty good. Torres is known as "Mr. Chocolate" so I'd have to expect nothing less. It was really warm in this place, which was manna from heaven compared to the outside temperature of 29 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of the visit. I thought it was a little strange for the place to have a bunch of Chinese lanterns in the place. read more

I believe its more of a tourist trap. And I don't have a sweet tooth. I came here with my gf when we were waiting for our pizza from Grimadli's. As we walked in the lady told us that the store was going to close in 10 minutes. We got a chocolate chip cookie and a wicked hot chocolate. The cookie was very good. The hot chocolate was tasty. I usually only get wicked when I stumble there. As we were sitting outside on the bench. I noticed two ladies come out of a taxi and scream that the store just closed. One of them sat on the stairs laughing hilariously. Then a guy from the store opens the door and hand them a free cookie. Damn! We were 10 minutes too early. Hahahaha. Nice guy to give them the cookie. It's so obvious these two made a big effort to go visit. read more

I saw this shop last year on my way back from a bday brunch at Bubby's. This time I had time to get something as part of a dessert tour. We went specifically for ice cream so I can't speak on the chocolates. I sampled a few flavors of ice cream (vanilla rum was yum) before choosing my ultimate choice: the chocolate chip cookie ice cream. Very nice! It was rich and creamy without being over chocolate-y. They pack in a lot for one scoop of ice cream, I was surprised. I love this part of BK, so I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Best chocolates we've ever had I have tried a lot of gourmet chocolatiers in San Francisco and New York, and this one towers above them all. The flavors are so fresh and not too subtle. Can't beat it. Makes a great gift. Also had the bean-to-bar milk chocolate bar - my favorite milk chocolate. Better than Scharffen Berger's. Strong vanilla flavor was nice, mellow chocolate flavor and smooth texture. Also sampled the chocolate chip cookie, pretty good. read more

Love their chocolate chip cookie. Ask for it warmed up - it's sooo much better when the chocolate chips are melting all over your hands. I went there after loving the ice-cream sandwich next door. Here's the thing: they are expensive. Borderline scandalously so. I was going to three star them for that but based on what I brought back and am eating right now, you do get some great taste for that money. They sell chocolates at $1.60 each and 12 for $20. I bought four. All four were really good. I also bought two of their chocolate chip cookies. They are $3 each and dare I say it, they might beat LeVain Bakery for my favorite cookie. I will have to arrange for a taste test soon. read more

Woah. This is every chocolate lovers dream. This is heaven. I don't know how else to describe it. You want chocolate covered this or that, dark chocolate, hot chocolate, cookies, chocolate candies ... everything chocolate this is your spot. After browsing the store, and making my way up to the glass case, I was told by my friend that their chocolate chip cookies are what they are known for. Well say no more, lets get one, duh. But it was then, as if there was a light shining down from the chocolate gods calling attenition to the chocolate peanut butter cookie. Chocolate peanut butter? Say no more, two of my favorites that pair far too well together. I placed my order, pointing to the biggest cookie as if I was five again. The cookie was so big that if I held it up, it would have covered most of my face ... okay well maybe not that big but you get the idea. Prior to making this easy purchase, I was told that rather than using butter in their cookies they sub the butter with peanut butter. The cookie was studded with huge chocolate chunks and filled with smooth creamy peanut butter. For $3.50 how can you go wrong! Definitely a treat worth splitting to satisfy your sweet tooth at one of New York's specialty chocolate shops. read more

Let me just make it clear that the service here was excellent!! We came about 5 minutes before it closed and we were allowed to sit down and order even though they started cleaning up. They didn't rush us or anything. We ordered the classic hot chocolate and it just wasn't good . I love chocolate so this says a lot..If anything it tasted sickingly sweet and super chocolate that it no longer was not chocolate..it definitely had like a melted chocolate icecream taste and texture..super thick. We couldn't wait to get some water. We basically tried to drink the rest but we honestly couldn't..each sip hurt lol. Sucks because I really was expecting a nice after dinner treat. Quaint little place with a huge assortment of chocolate delicacies. So much so, that I found it rather difficult to select which ones I wanted. Seeing as it was $2 a piece, I'm almost positive I could not have asked for a sample so I refrained from asking. I ended up getting an earl grey, a caramel filled bite, and the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. All the sweets were delectable and absolutely rich in flavor. I didn't get the opportunity to try any drinks while I visited, but the chocolate's here definitely left their mark on me. I bet sweets would make do as excellent gifts. I'll have to come by again one day to bring some back home. read more

The chocolate here was awesome. The hot chocolate was sub par. It was so chocolate rich it was hard to drink. We had wanted to try the wicked hot chocolate (a spiced hot chocolate) but the woman behind the counter refused to make us a cup, due to the fact that they were closing in 20 minutes. Strange........ she offered us some of the regular hot chocolate which we took! Fast forward 20 minutes and they literally kicked all of the patrons out when the clock struck 6. We were almost finished. She rudely announced that everyone had to leave. It was incredibly uncomfortable and we left feeling like we don't want to return. read more

I LOVE CHOCOLATE!!!!!! This is the richest chocolate I've ever had. It makes me want to spit out all the other chocolates you find in local supermarkets/shops. There's a difference between "chocolate" and " sugar disguised as chocolate " and Jacques Torres showed me the difference. So a friend and I got off High Street and started making our way down to the Brooklyn Bridge park and we bumped into a cop named Billy. We asked him for directions to get to the park and as we started walking away and then he yells out " Hey! Do you guys like chocolate? " We immediately turn around and say " Hell yeah - why? " He continues on to tell us about Jacques Torres and how great the chocolate is. So as a chocolate lover, there was no way I could resist stopping by. I ordered a hot chocolate and the mudslide cookie and my friend picked up a few chocolate squares, including the "lovebug". The hot chocolate was like drinking a melted chocolate bar ( They have a wicked hot chocolate too which has some chili in it .... I think that's what the lady said) and the mudslide cookie was incredibly delicious. It was like a chocolate orgy in my mouth! In fact, we went back the next day and picked up more cookies to take home. Here's a suggestion, heat up the cookie for 1 minute and pile on some vanilla bean ice cream.... So a personal thanks goes out to Billy the cop for introducing me to this chocolate wonderland! read more
