So went here looking for some of their famous White Chai Chocolate drink and they were all out so I went with the classic Hot Chocolate instead which was way too sweet. I would say 90% chocolate and 10% milk which is not the way I like my hot chocolate but none the less it wasn't bad just very rich so it's more of a dessert drink. The atmosphere of the cafe is nice and they have some comfortable seating area for you to relax in. They also offer a variety of other coffee drinks and chocolates which taste delicious! I would recommend this place for some sweet tooth indulgences. read more

Jacques Torres Chocolate - Hot Chocolate by the Brooklyn Bridge - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I keep a bag of the dark chocolate chips in my pantry as a "it's been a bad day" snack. I grab two and my day is a tiny bit better. My supply was dwindling so I stopped in for a restock and grabbed a small hot chocolate, since winter finally arrived outside. Really reasonably priced cup of the most amazing hot chocolate ever, and believe me, I've tried a few. Definitely recommend! read more

I like this chocolate shop and I hope shops like these survive. They specialize in one thing and they do it with high quality ingredients. Godiva didn't survive (their quality went way downhill). Glad Jacques Torres still has great hot chocolate and cookies. I would go out of my way. read more

Never have I ever experienced such chocolate bliss as Jacques Torres Chocolate. I wanted to try their classic hot chocolate first just to get a good sense of the baseline flavor. And man, is it incredible. I love that it is not overly sweet, and there is a good amount of cocoa without being overpowering. I would peg it at maybe 65%-70%. It's a great, creamy, deep chocolate flavor, and I'm glad I travelled from the upper west side just for this. It's a snowy cold day, and this is the perfect remedy. UPDATE: This is officially the best "chocolate" thing I've ever had. No lie. read more

The store was looking BAD. Picked over, kinda dirty, and the employees clearly didn't care. But the ice cream, cookie, and chocolates were good. Jacques would be alarmed if he knew of the condition of this branch. read more

Wicked hot chocolate! Yum! Never had anything better. Like drinking a liquid chocolate bar with a kick at the end. If you like chocolate go here. Also their ice cream is great. This place looked good and had good reviews on Yelp so we decided to go here but the service and ice cream itself were very subpar. There were only two people working in the entire store (one employee scooping ice cream/gelato and the other at the cash register) which made the whole process incredibly long and slow. I had to wait for a really long time before getting to place my order. When it was my turn to order, the employee scooping ice cream was quite rude to me when I asked her a question about the ice cream. Also not sure if this only happened to me or if it's a recurring theme but her gloves were quite messy with ice cream and gelato so when she handed me my ice cream, the whole CUP was very sticky and had chocolate ice cream (I ordered strawberry lol) on it. Then my hands were sticky :( The line at the cash register was also very long due to only one employee being there. The ice cream itself was not that great. It was very average tasting, just like a store bought tub of ice cream. There was also not a lot of variety of ice cream or gelato which was disappointing. read more

Great product. Poor service. Not very welcoming. Customer ahead of us had to raise her voice to get someone to serve her ice cream because no one came over to serve her. There were 3 employees on hand and only a few patrons. If you're going to charge kingly prices for chocolate and ice cream, treat your customers like royalty. read more

The Girl's mom has been in town the last few days all the way from Japan. She stopped in NYC first and after dinner at Michael Mina last night, she gave me a gift: a small box of Jacques Torres chocolates. I started a new job 2.5 weeks ago, and although I'm loving the new responsibilities, I'm feeling overwhelmed by the demands, workload, expectations, and steep ramp up. I arrived home tonight at 8pm (and I only live 10 minutes from work) exhausted and dreading the extra work I have to do tonight. Then I saw the attractive brown box of chocolates. I opened it up slowly and took a bite one one of the squares. I think I soiled myself a little bit. The chocolate was--as Will Ferrell parodying James Lipton says--scrumtrilescent. It made the pain go away. I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me. It's taking an inordinate amount of self control to keep from omnomnoming the entire box. read more

It's that time of the moon and you're making your friends fear your wrath, or you're wearing clothes with a bit more room because no matter what, you feel huge and maybe you're ALSO craving IT so bad, and you know that no, Hershey ain't gonna be able to do it for you. Ritter Sport, yes, he may be a quick fix, but he's too cheap and too available. Don't even THINK about inviting Cadbury over, even if he's visiting all the way from the British Isles. No, Jacques Torres' is the only man for the job and he doesn't do booty calls, so you will find yourself coming in his tiny shop with the scrumptious smells, artful seasonal arrangements (every season is chocolate season!) and oh, he has so so SO much to tantalize you. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhh. Oh. But, besides that... Chocolate is my favorite gift to give! And even if someone isn't into straight up milk or dark, Jacques Torres has ALL KINDS of interesting varieties from citrus to nuts to PUMPKIN PIE (oh my!) I've been lazy lately, and just asked for a pre-made box of chocolates, thinking that they all must be equally as good. I suggest you take the extra few minutes to peruse the offerings and make up your box for your loved one, or better yet, yourself. And don't hog all the key lime pie truffles (my favorite). OK, I need a cold shower now. read more

We needed a hot drink to warm up during our visit in Dumbo. We decided to stop by here to get something quick. The Jacques' famous chocolate chip cookie was moist, chocolatey, and warm. I also had the hot chocolate snowball. If you have a sweet tooth, I'd highly recommend getting this. You get the best of both delicious hot chocolate mixed with flavorful vanilla ice cream. The only downside to when I went was the seating area was very limited. Luckily, when my group finished ordering, tables became available. If you're in the surrounding areas, I would give this place a try for sure. read more

Jacques Torres is a wonderland/oasis of everything that is good in this world. Chocolate lovers unite! Yes, this is the second chocolate themed place I've reviewed lately.* My co-workers and I were in search of that NYC Egg Hunt craze. And it just so happens an egg was inside the store! .....A giant beautifully crafted chocolate egg nonetheless. (see pic) That spicy, "wicked" hot chocolate is to die for. It's just the perfect balance of heat and sweetness. And their chocolate chip cookies were good and gooey. Yes, things are pretty pricey here which may turn you away... but give it a chance. JT has quality ingredients that reflects in their products as well as popularity. ____________________ * I swear I don't have a problem. read more

Having long been a fan of Jacques Torres since the early days of Food Network, visiting his original chocolate store was a real treat. I had done most of my shopping at the Rockefeller location, so I was really here just to check out the store and try some of his legendary hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is simply divine and I have no qualms when saying that it's the best chocolate I've ever had. Some hot chocolates tend to be overly sweet or not sweet enough. Jacques' contains just the perfect amount of milk to chocolate ratio. Do not ignore the warning signs advertising how hot the hot chocolate is. It took a good 10 minutes for me get it to a manageable temperature. read more

Yum. Chocolate. By Jacques Torres. Yum. I mean... I don't know what else I have to say. But if I must... beautifully decorated truffles. But even more importantly, DECADENT truffles. The hazelnut truffles were divine.. the pistachio marzipan truffles - near orgasmic. I had a baked good lover with me who got the enormously large, chocolately chocolate chip cookie, as well. I left wanting more and more. So amazing. read more

Came in on a nice Saturday early afternoon. Disappointing to see the gelato and ice cream section nearly empty and not at all ready for customers. Bought some chocolate-covered blueberries and individual pieces of chocolate to go. Not my thing - the individual pieces (with caramel, ganache, etc.) were too sweet and the chocolate-covered blueberries were dry. The service has minimal, the staff refused to make eye contact and did not greet anyone walking through the door. Not a pleasant visit, unfortunately. read more

Went to almondine bakery across the street for some bougie brunch and Jacque Torres chocolates was right across the street so we walked in for something sweet. This is a really special place. It made me realize how important it is to treat yourself once in a while. The store is spacious, warm and inviting. There's chocolate all around in various forms. They also have special things like hot chocolate, cookies and big chocolate hens ... Lol yes. It's sophisticated and whimsical at the same time. Maybe that is the secret to its charm and likability. I feel like anyone who came in here would find something special to take home. Or buy as a gift for a friend or family. Like that chocolate hen! We walked in and gravitated directly to the back counter where they have the chocolates. We got 4 "lovebugs" (key lime ganache white chocolates) & we also got the milk chocolate bark (it has almonds + hazelnuts). The milk chocolate bark while Pricey (as everything else here) was just, "simply," Outstanding. I was surprised at how good it was .. it is so worth the money. We spent $15 for 4 chocolates and like 2.5 ounces of bark.... It was expensive but sitting there in Jacques chocolate shop eating these beautifully packaged sweets was such a special treat. I walked out feeling pretty awesome. I really advise sitting down in the store I think that's what made the experience extra nice for me. Also the workers here are especially sweet and nice. Will definitely come back and there are so many other things to try. read more

How great this place is, is heavily dependent on what you purchase. So I will review my selections individually: Pain au Chocolat -- delicious buttery croissant that flaked beautifully, great texture, but where was the chocolate? It was all "pain" and little "chocolat" which I think misses the point of visiting Jacques Torres. 2.5 stars. Chocolate Chip Cookie -- exceptional cookie, large, plenty of chocolate, not too cloying, excellent selection. 4 stars. Bon Bons with Nuts -- a cheaper variant of the actual bon bons, but again heavy on the nuts, with little chocolate. 3 stars. So in summary, the chocolate is quite good here, but you have to be judicious in selecting items that actually have said chocolate in them. Good luck. read more

Driving back from Park Slope, we ventured to DUMBO and using the Google Maps on my mobile phone, we located Jacques Torres Chocolate on Water Street. We were craving hot chocolate....and let me tell you, Jacques Torres does not disappoints! The "wicked" hot chocolate costs $4 for 16oz cup, and it's an indulgence that is worth every sip....I won't tell you how fattening it is, how many sugar grams it has or how much saturated fat is within the cup (personally, I don't want to know either). But what I will tell you is that it is quite possibly the best hot chocolate you can experience! Rich chocolate perfectly melted into steamed milk resulting in a creamy, spicy and incredibly sinful experience that must be slowly sipped to be appreciated.... Equally delightful and deserving a mention are the chocolate covered cheerios, the gigantic chocolate chip cookies and my favorite mouth popper of the moment, the chocolate covered corn flake clusters!! Although there is a Jacques Torres Chocolate factory in the West Village (off Hudson Street), it's worth the trip to DUMBO just to walk around Water Street and take in the picture perfect backdrop of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. read more

Located in the heart of DUMBO. I came here with one of my Meetups. The chocolates are prepared on the premises and it's amazing! You can get a small milk chocolate bar for a good price. We came here to try their infamous hot chocolate after a cool brisk walk across the brooklyn bridge, which was recommended by a local friend who lived in the area. It was definitely appropriate considering the time of the year we visited. Very small and cozy. We managed to get a table right by the window, so we were able to enjoy the yummy super rich delight while enjoying the view. It was definitely one of the most rich and velveety hot chocolates i've ever tasted....I certainly wouldn't have been able to finish it on my own..so i'm glad we shared it. A little bummed I didn't try the mocha instead...since i'm more of a mocha type of gal. Pretty unique experience as i've never been to a "chocolate" bar before... read more

Thank you, prehistoric Olmecs!! Theobroma cacao, accurate for "food of the gods" (Gr). A wonderful treat and delicacy from a master chocolatier. Excellent.....so interesting and so deep, rich, full of smoothness and body. Ancho chili one took my fancy, as did the great ganache-filled treat. The texture captured me and held me there for a sensual few seconds. Tried from a box of about 10 offerings...delicate. Such a luxury and treat!! Don't sample with champagne. I wanted to try out the famous JT chocolate chip cookie. It was still breakfast time and we had just had an almond croissant, but I was still gonna try it. I just got the cookie, nothing else. When I asked for it to be warmed up, the worker made this face like it was the most annoying thing to do in the world. Okay, then maybe don't put up a sign that says "ask us to warm up your cookie"! Lol So she begrudgingly warmed up my cookie. It was a good cookie, I'll tell ya that. Nothing to complain about and nothing to rave. Just a decent cookie. Couldn't really taste the specialness of the chocolate though. Just yo average ccc. read more

My favorite thing to do when weather is nice is go to Jacques Torres and get hot chocolate, then walk across the Brooklyn bridge. It takes a little while, but why not? I was expecting a lot from this storefront from "Mr. Chocolate," himself. Jacques Torres (a.k.a "Mr Chocolate), has international fame from his various television series. He's the guy who makes amazing sculptures out of chocolate. With a five star rating and his pristine reputation as a pastry chef, I was expecting a lot. I had some of his cookies, I got his brulee crunch bar, and I bought a bag of chocolate covered macadamia nuts. I also sampled their Wicked Hot Chocolate, which is similar to Mexican hot chocolate. The items I had were good, but not extraordinary. His milk chocolate is creamy, but not very sweet. Its flavor tastes similar to the chocolate you can buy from Cadbury. It's good chocolate, but not one that I'd pay premium prices for. For premium prices, the chocolate place I'd recommend is Max Brenner (located in Union Square). Brenner has better creativity, better chocolate, and it's a complete dining experience. read more

I remember Jacques Torres when he had a PBS show about pastries. All i remember on that show was his amazing pastry craft, his penchant for making clowns, and how he accented sheet pan (sounded like sh*t pan). I tried: Wicked chocolate ice cream: perfect balance of spices and sweet chocolate. Think chai and chocolate with a touch of heat. Coconut sorbet - tasted like thick ice cream--I'd rather have this than vegan coconut-based ice cream. Chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich with chocolate - i should have waited for it to thaw, but the chocolate chip cookie was very different in the sense there was a thin layer of dark chocolate running all the way through the cookie! Milk chocolate and Dark chocolate bark - good, but not amazing. Chocolate quality is definitely the stand out Tried three chocolates Chai chocolate - i could have used more chai flavor, but good nonetheless Honey chocolate - the bee shape was cute, flavor was meh European Peanut Butter Chocolates - i could eat 20 of these. read more

Don't get the hot chocolate if you're not a fan of really sweet. Cause...it's super sweet. I have a pretty mid to high sweet tolerance and it was too much for me. The chocolate cookie on the other hand was really great. Sort of dry cause we came in late but the chocolate was abundant and more spread out. Instead of being chocolate chips. Located in DUMBO, this is the first location of the chocolate shop. Open the door, boom. Chocolate soaked air. It was awesome. There are lots of different confections here, all of which look amazing. I went straight for the individual pieces of chocolate, and asked what the most popular/favored one is. I was advised to try Wicked Fun, a dark chocolate with Mexican spices, ancho and chipotle chiles. And, the painting on the front of the chocolate is pretty cute too. Torres is making handcrafted, artisan chocolates from all natural, quality ingredients. This particular chocolate was divine. It was more of a truffle, and had a silky and creamy center that totally melts in your mouth. First, you get the semi sweetness of the chocolate, then, you get a little pinch of the chiles, which has almost a nutmeg and cinnamon quality to it. read more
