Not a very welcoming environment I felt attacked and singled out last couple of times I came even spoken to harshly. I purposely let a mother and daughter go in front of me so I could observe the treatment that they would receive when buying Needohs they let the family in front of me make a purchase mother & daughter but when it was my turn I was spoken to harshly with a negatively I let them know it was for a friend son not my household. I have even witnessed another family prior different day where they were told okay this time only. We stand out from the rest And get treated as so. Not okay Wife and husband seem kind but then theirs the bulldog. I just don't think it's fair that I can't make a separate purchase for a friend who has to work. I don't see this getting better because it's a choice for them to pick n choose who to treat kindly & sometimes being a regular is bad as well since I go in often. This is a nice toy shop. It's fun to take your kids too - and it's hard to leave. This review is about Pokémon. I visited the shop, hoping I could purchase some Pokémon cards for my son who is obsessed.. Currently Pokémon cards are very hard to find because of the current popularity, and I went in here, hoping that they catered more towards kids because a lot of the big box shops that carry them are being overrun by adult collectors... I was sad to see that they had Pokémon cards in stock that were marked up 3X MSRP.... MSRP Pokémon cards cost a roughly $4.50 a pack.. they had Perfect Order single packs for $12 each. HOW RUDE!!! I had a really disappointing experience at this store today. I came in with a couple of friends my age because we were looking for a specific toy. From the moment we walked in, the employees were hovering over us and watching us in a way that felt extremely uncomfortable and unnecessary. We were not being loud, disruptive, or disrespectful, we were simply browsing. As we were about to check out, one of the employees told us we were "free to leave," and verbatim, "we don't need your five bucks." The tone was rude, dismissive, and completely uncalled for. We had every intention of making a purchase, and there was no reason for us to be treated that way. Being watched so closely and then spoken to like that felt incredibly disrespectful. It also raised concerns for me about whether we were being treated differently because of how we looked. No customer should feel singled out or unwelcome when they walk into a store simply trying to buy something. Respect goes both ways. Customers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy, regardless of their age or appearance. I hope this is taken seriously so that no one else has to experience the same kind of treatment because it was absolutely disgusting. read more

Today jacks toy shop posted on their social media that they had extra boxes of needohs. So me and my daughter went. I drop my daughter off she goes in pays no big deal. Then I park and come in shortly behind her and the lady at the door stops us and says sorry you can't buy anything else because she already got some it's 2 per family. Yet every other family In there is being allowed to purchase 2 per person. I saw a young boy with a 20 in his hand go in by himself and come out with multiple. So if you want to say it is 2 per family don't pick and choose who that rule applies to. While I'm standing in line the employees are complaining about how customers are listing items they have bought from them for a more expensive price even though they are marking them up at least double. All I can say about Jack's toy shop is how terrible and rude the workers are to the customers. today they had a restock on needohs so me and my daughter went after she got out of school. I dropped my daughter off first and she got up to the register paid for the needohs then I was in line a few people behind her. Once it got to my turn at the register, the tall brown haired employee that was working the line. She was picking and choosing who to give service to and almost denied me because she said it was only three per family, and claimed I was there twice. even though there was a family right ahead of me with four kids, along with that being their second time through. and on top of that they sold to families with multiple kids all day. So if you are going to say 3 per family but pick and choose when to abide by that you should not be in retail. Not to mention they illegally make their items up more then double the price. read more

I visited this store fairly recently with some friends as we were looking for a popular toy. Upon entering we were given rude stares and were even followed around the store. There were some other people in the store that were not given this treatment. Which made my friends and I feel very uncomfortable because we were simply browsing and not causing a ruckus. I understand that this is an establishment made for children and young adults; ruckus may come with this audience. But that is far from what my friends and I were doing. The lady who had followed us around was the owner and in front of our faces she had told her coworkers to watch us. Customer service really matters, especially in places that are meant to be friendly and inviting. Unfortunately, the way my friends and I were treated made it clear that some customers aren't given the benefit of the doubt. Because of this experience, I wouldn't recommend visiting if you just want to look around or take your time deciding what to buy. read more

I've been coming here for years for kids birthday or Christmas gifts. Family owned local business. You get much better customer service than the box stores . Prices seem reasonable ( I'm no expert) . They will even gift bag for you . My most recent trip (5/18/2024 around 4:00 - 4:30 pm ) there were 3 females working. I was here for 3 kids birthday gifts ( busy month) . They all were super helpful . At checkout they even made sure price tags were removed and I had batteries. I don't think they were involved in ownership of the business ( could be wrong) but the service I received was like they were . those are employees you want to keep . I am pleased to write a glowing review for this shop during these times. They have stayed open for curbside pickup allowing families to purchase gifts, books, games, and making Easter baskets for kids! The ordering over the phone was simple, and I was able to pop by real fast and do a quick pickup! The store itself is very cool! It has a great selection of games! There is unique toys and education toys as well. The quality definitely comes from the staff and owners. I've been going to Jack's toy store since before it was a toy store (they had the best shoes when they were "A Little Bit of Sole")! This family owned toy store in the heart of downtown Redlands is the absolute best! The staff is all so kind, super helpful, and more than understanding when your two year old puts every car in the store into a shopping cart for the sole purpose of pushing it around with him. Jack's has such unique gifts and even does free gift wrap so it is our go to as we are frantically searching for a last minute gift on the way to a birthday party! Walked in on a rainy day with my daughter and was greeted immediately by a young lady asking if there was something I was looking for. She guided me to the section I was looking for, and was very friendly. It's a small shop but is jam packed a wide variety of toys. My 6 year old daughter had fun browsing around. I was out Christmas shopping with my son and needed to buy toys for my nieces and nephews. My son said there was a toy store on State street that we could check out. Walking in the place is a little hole-in-the-wall, but jam packed from floor to ceiling with a great variety of toys, games, puzzles and so much more. The entire staff we encountered, provided amazing customer service! I went to the register and the girl at the counter was very friendly and asked if the gifts were a Christmas, birthday or everyday gifts and I told her Christmas. She then proceeds to place each gift into individual christmas gift bags with tissue paper and bows. She said it was free with purchase. Wow!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would just for customer service alone. I was able to get the gifts I needed and support an awesome local small business at the same time. It's more like a play space than a retail shop where parents might be worried about their kids touching the merch. Touching the merch is actually encouraged, and there is so much of it. Being a former child myself, I appreciate their selection of retro toys blended with the latest games and gadgets. My son reminded me today that I had promised to take him here last week to replace his Gumby figure so we went today. I decided to let him go in alone with the money because he's 8 now and likes doing things that give him a sense of independence. So not only is the staff absolutely wonderful simply for knowing both my children by name, but one of the girls actually walked my son out to the car to make sure he was safe and came over to chat for a moment and say hello to my other son. I have always walked past Jax and even sent some of my own clients to the store. I've never had a need to go in as I don't have any kids to buy toys for. I walked in yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I want to go in there and just hang out myself!!! Loved it!! The Reason I walked in is because I have an eight-year-old niece and she is in town for her birthday. I honestly have no clue what to get an eight-year-old girl. You would think fun princess stuff. So I walked in all confused and the worker asked me if I needed anything. I explained that this little girl likes anything from mermaids to fart toys. He was so helpful and was able to give me plenty of options in my price range. I Would have been completely lost without him. I have tried to go on Amazon to order for nieces and nephews and I always get disappointed and I just guess. I can honestly say I will not be using Amazon ever again to buy a toy.
