The book selection is good if you can find what you are looking for, since the various genres are placed in an unfathomable order, and often changed. But on my latest shopping stop here, the store really failed in supporting good hygiene. Three soap dispensers out of four had no soap in them in the restrooms, and the men's restroom had no papter towels on hand, plus the air dryer on the wall there did not work. This location has really gone downhill over the last year (change in management?). The men's room was technically clean, but smelled bad and the hand dryer didn't work. Also no paper towels, which are apparently on backorder. The organization of titles within the sections has no logic, which requires finding a bookseller to locate an item. However, finding a bookseller is a whole other adventure. read more

This store has lost its charm. The store manager Erin was so rude to her employees. I heard the rumors of management being racist but I didn't notice until now. The interaction I had with her was so different compared to the next customer she helped who was white. Also Why is nothing alphabetical? I like the personal growth section but I can't find anything cause there's all these new categories. They used to be sorted by the author. I hate it. There's these sensors that constantly ding "hello welcome". It's so annoying. Also every time I go into the store, they keep trying to sell me their monthly pick. I say no and they keep pushing me to get it. Please stop. I needed a reason to shop at independent bookstores, I will from now on. It's sad and frustrating to see such a great place ruined by this company white washing their staff. My older friend has had a membership for a long time. She went in to renew and was told she needed an email address. She doesn't have one and doesn't want one. They said that's the only way to renew. I called customer service and they said it was a recently changed policy. This is very discriminatory to the population who don't use computers and don't want an email address. She is a dedicated customer who now cannot get the benefits she's always gotten just because of a policy change that only benefits B and N and people who have an email address. A phone number should be sufficient. This is absolutely discriminatory and disappointing. read more

I'm giving this store one star, and it is solely on their cashier. I should have gotten her name, but completely forgot. So I walk in with my daughters and the alarm goes off on the customer walking out (the customer is white) and a cashier says to her you are fine it's just the sensors. I'm shopping around, reading books finally it's time to pay and we pay we are walking out when the sensor goes off. I then feel someone just run up to us it's the cashier that helped me, she says I need to pass it by the sensor she swipes each item on their sensor thing. We then walk out and again it rings I turn around to see her and she's giving me the look of I need the things so we go back and I give her the things we purchased she then proceeds to go through each item, Checks them and at this point I'm upset because one she is being racist!! We are hispanic and if I was white I can assure you we would have gotten treated like that other customer with respect. After reading other reviews I see this is a pattern to this store!!!!! I spent almost 100 dollars, shame on this cashier!!!! Do better. read more

Racist store!!! I came here because they usually have a good variety of Lego sets. I found one I wanted the set retails for 26.99 I was walking around with my wife browsing books with her and out of no where an employee told me oh I need to take that Lego set up to the front and set it behind the counter. I didn't think anything of it at first but when I get in line to pay I see other people in line with sets worth much more than the one I was buying but the other people were white women and I am a Hispanic man. I felt embarrassed as if I was targeted for some reason. I've never stolen anything in fact I had spent over 100$ at this store the week before Christmas. Once again it's a hot day and we are sheltering in their coffee shop (Starbucks provided coffee) and perusing magazines and books that we may purchase. email sent to corporate offices and the ceo: On September 21, 2024, I visited the Redlands Barnes and Noble bookstore, located at 27460 Lugonia Avenue, Redlands, CA 92373. My family have been customers at this location since 2010. I was unpleasantly surprised to see a large and highly visible display of Donald Trump books placed on a standalone table, adjacent to the children's section, centrally located where most customers would not miss seeing it. Notably absent was a corresponding table featuring an equally visible display of books featuring Vice-president Kamala Harris. When I spoke to a manager about it, my concerns regarding visible bias were dismissed. Matt, the head manager, declined to address the display, citing books sales as his rationale for maintaining the display- "I don't care, as long as books are selling." In speaking with lower ranking employees concerning the display, it was disclosed that the display was set up by a manager, and that employee discomfort with the display, when raised, was similarly disregarded. The display evidences managerial bias to advance specific political views in a public facing bookstore and is not in alignment with corporate policy regarding workplace employee protections. I have attached photos of the display in question to showcase its positioning, prominence, and proximity to the children's area. It is my hope that action will be taken swiftly to address this political bias demonstrated in your corporate bookstore. Thank you for your time and prompt attention to this matter. read more

Good size and easily read sign making it hard to miss. Handicap parking spaces available but no EV. Good product display and plenty of selection. Quiet and library type atmosphere. Starbucks coffee on right side corner as you enter. Sit down tables for coffee/snack time or just relaxing and taking it easy. Wouldn't mind coming back. i've been going here for a while but in these past few weeks i've noticed that whenever i come in with my family the manager erin always tells workers to keep a close eye on us. And I firmly believe that it is because we're mexican. I have also noticed that previous managers of color that were so helpful to us before no longer work there, after making some inquiries i found out that she fired them and has replaced them with white management. September 28th, 4:00 pm. I'm very disappointed in the customer service at this location's cafe. I'm a newborn breastfeeding mama, who was desperate for just a simple cup of water on this hot day. I went up to a gentleman with dark facial hair and asked if I could have a cup of water, to which he replied that he needed to finish the 8 drinks on the line first before he could get to mine. I waited off to the side for a few minutes and saw that there was no line. So, I went up to the register and asked a lady with glasses if I could please have a quick cup of water so I could tend to my baby. First time I've been in this store in years. I've forgotten how nice it is, so big with lots of reading goodies, and a great place to sit with your favorite coffee and chill. I mostly purchase my books online, but I do buy books for my grandkids. They have a great kids section of books for every age, plus there is also a great toy selection. Check out was friendly and efficient with the social distancing thing going on. Sanitizer at the front door, everyone in mask and the floor has plenty of x and signs telling you which way to go or where to stand for to checkout. Parking is always fun at the Citrus, but I went closer to closing so not much of a problem. I will definitely be back. See you soon! read more

Starbucks in Barnes continues to disappoint. Last two times I went, I was appalled to see them handling the food and drinks with no gloves. One chic was cleaning around and then started making drinks without washing her hands. Gross... last time we were there, two weeks ago, one guy was working the counter by himself, and ignored my niece and I for a little more than 5 minutes. No one else was there. We were there, waiting... and waiting... giving him eye contact, which he gave us as he continued to do anything else but talk to us... we left. Wasn't going to let ruin our day... However, Barnes now has bags and nicer tellers at the front! They are the only reasons I'm giving two stars! read more

The Redlands Barnes and Noble (BN) is my favorite BN shop in the IE. I believe what sets them apart are the people that work here both at BN and BN Cafe. This bookstore is located on Lugonia and Alabama in Redlands, just north of the 10 freeway, near Target. If you sign up for their membership, you'll receive perks throughout the year including free shipping. You can also purchase books online and pick up from the store within a couple hours. Books -- or a gift card from BN -- make such excellent gifts for all ages. They also sell magazines, stationery, desk accessories, puzzles, and games. I've purchased many books here and will be glad to return again because they have great staff, the store is clean, and they have a yummy cafe! read more

This location has a large Barnes & Noble that consist of only one floor with books and music. Currently the café is closed. The layout of the store is very typical of any other Barnes & Noble bookstore that has a one floor plan. Found a lot of great books in the bargain section don't forget to look there when you're shopping. It is definitely a good decision to become a member as you'll get discounts throughout the year for hardbacks and paperbacks as well as the café for Starbucks coffee. read more

I hate it here. Customer service is horrendous. I placed an online order and drove 20 miles just to pick it up because it was in stock only at this location and i really needed it for an upcoming event of mine. i came and they said they didn't find it and oops they forgot to cancel it on their part to notify me, so not only did they waste my time but also my money on gas. Then today i placed another order but this time waited to pay in store just in case something happened again. So i make the drive and when i get here i get tossed from the customer service line to the regular line and back to the customer service line, idk why the cashiers can't get an order from the back but ok that's annoying and so i wait for them to look and they come back and tell me "We sold the item " ????? What's the point of me placing an order if they're not going to reserve it ????? Totally unprofessional and then they ask if i want to order it again to pick it up ?? Do better ! There needs to be better management here to make sure orders placed don't get sold and people don't come to pick up an item that they paid for only to find out it's not there. read more

Graffiti Vandals. We went to B&N last night (9/21) to find a new book. Lots of current titles available and the store itself was clean and well organized. While my wife browsed the books, I took off for the bathroom and walked into gang land once the bathroom door was shut. The stalls were tagged with graffiti- some had been half heartedly scrubbed off, but some looked fresh and it was starting to look like a message board on one wall. Management needs to address this problem and erase the graffiti as soon as it is spotted, not just give a half- hearted scrub over. read more

It has been over 15 months since I have stepped inside a bookstore. The moment I opened the door I was taken back. The smell of books waited through my nostrils. The setup has been changed a bit. To me, it was harder to find what I was looking for. The Starbucks is still there, but get there early so they don't run out of house faves flat bread pizza. The atmosphere was quiet, but lonely. Where they use to have a huge selection of Biographies years ago, now there is one panned left. The memoirs are on the otherside tucked away. Still a wonderful place to quietly hide away, but gone are the days previewing books in comfy chairs. In someways, this place lose it's homey charm. In a world where online sales run high and verge on taking over, classic bookstores need to step up their game in order to stay alive. If you are still in the mood for down to earth customer service, you will want to visit here. After all, times do change, but the smell of books will always bring you home. read more

I used to go here a few times a week to get a drink and sit down at their Starbucks then go book shopping afterwards. But my last experience a few months ago with their manager and another employee at their Starbucks who did not do anything about the tall old white man coming up to me and my daughter why we just sat down to enjoy our drink yelling at us " that the table we were sitting at was a handicap table!" which it clearly wasn't because there was no symbol on it. He just wanted him and his wife to sit at that table because it was big and there were no available seats. I ended up giving him the table because his wife was in frale condition and it looked like she was embarrased he was talking to me like that. So I told him I'll give him thr table for his wife but it's not a handicap table and most of the tables here are handicap accesible I guess he heard me wrong and thought I meant he was not handicap then got on how disabled he was and showed some scar on his knee which was very weird. He tried that a previous time with my daughter who sitting at the same table and she told him "I was here first" then left her alone and sat at another table. The employees and manager seem to know them and don't care about him harrasing other customers for that table I'm sure they lost business because of him. But I was getting tired of their air conditioner not working and the horrible state of their bathroom so I won't be back. read more
