BBB is failing consumers by accrediting this bad business "A+" rating, despite multiple unresolved complaints in the past 3 years. The business owner John Jr. knew BBB's incapability of handling complaints as long as he sent a response, thus he continues to treat customers badly while advertising BBB's A+ rating. I suggest unsatisfied customers go to BBB to write an honest review. I signed a contract and paid him $2,500 deposit.  He didn't show up on project starting date.  While stone supplier's truck arrived, the driver can't deliver because John failed to assess the accessibility of my driveway, and didn't order pallets delivery.  He wanted the large stones (60-120 lbs each) to be dumped to my driveway directly. I told the truck driver he can't damage my driveway. The truck driver left without delivery.  John demanded me to pay the stone supplier $433 in order to get the delivery.  I refused. John replied "you'll be paying a lot more than $433 going to court". Update: after I wrote this review and filed a complaint on BBB, he sent a superficial apology message, and wanted to continue. Fortunately, he hasn't started anything at my house. I no longer trust him to do any business. I requested him to return my deposit and cancel the contract. He replied "Your deposit is the Stone you denied. Have a good evening". I have to go to court to get my deposit back, but I spared more troubles having him word at my house. read more

My flagstone patio's outside wall shifted and the stone was seperated from the wall. There were also numerous cracks in the grout from the shifting. John Jr arrived at my house right after I hung up with him. I cannot believe how quickly he was onsite to provide me a bid. I had 3 other contractors look at this before I found Jacks. I felt they were incredibly high on the price for what they were going to do. John Jr explained what his crew would be doing and provided an extrmely fair price. He and his crew showed up right at the time they scheduled my job. They immediatly started working on the patio. I cannot say enough about these guys and how professional they were and how quickly they completed the work. Their work was flawless and when they left you could not even tell they were here. After seeing thier work on the grout, I could see quite a few trouble areas on the rest of our grout. I decided to have them redo the grout on my entire patio. I called John Jr to request a quote. Within 20 minutes I had his quote, (which was again extremely reasonable), as well as a scheduled time for them to come complete the work tomorrow. Talk about service! I had some cracks in my extended stone patio behind my house as a result of a powerwashing -- some of the older concrete between the stones was knocked loose from the water. I wanted to get the cracks sealed immediately to prevent any future damage to the patio from rain or water. I called several masonry companies, and out of all of them John Jr was the fastest and best communicator and he also offered the work to be done at a very fair price. After reading his reviews on yelp I decided to go with Jacks Stone Masonry and I was really happy I did. He came out literally the next day (in the morning even!) and fixed the issue quickly. We'll see how his brick work holds up. Seems pretty good actually. However, there was no clean up with mortar slung around my patio deck. I was assured there would be no mess. Naturally, when I ask him to come out and clean it up, he becomes unresponsive. Edit post-owner response: more than a spec of mortar. He left trash behind, dirt, mortar, rock etc. As an aside, you should try to be less passive aggressive with your customers but also people in general. read more

Very pleased with my experience with John and his team. I had a few spots around the foundation of my house where the stone veneer had come off exposing the rebar underneath. They showed up on time and had everything they needed for the job. They cleaned up all the cracks, treated the exposed rebar, and patched everything up so it looked pretty sharp. I'm a contractor and my mason moved to Houston. I met John, and discussed the project with him. He went on and on about how he learned from his grandfather and answered questions correctly, so I gave him a shot. First, he cancelled on me three days in a row... well, didn't show or answer calls until after 6 the first day and cancelled the other two (hours after he was scheduled to arrive - when he dictated the times). I should have cancelled then, but things happen so I decided to keep the contract. Huge mistake. The first time, he used white mortar with brown sand, when clearly it is white mortar with white sand. He insisted that it would dry to the right color, and ignored my questions about why he used playground sand instead of fine mortar sand. Then he told me that I was crazy, that there is no such thing as white sand, that sand is brown. So, I educated him. I sent him multiple links, as well as details on where he could purchase those supplies locally. He came out to "fix" the mortar, and made such a mess that we are going to have to strip and redo hickory floors now, in addition to hiring someone else to correct his very bad work. When I complained that the color still doesn't match, after he told me on site that I was wrong, the builder was wrong and the homeowners were wrong, it was white mortar with brown sand , I will not even repeat the number of curse words and horrible things he called me. When I complained that the mortar was falling out from simply being touched, he told me that he is not responsible if people are knocking things around. I literally hit it with a dust rag ... He called me a liar.....After witnessing him cuss out his helpers, and me, and being both bullied and threatened, I was hesitant to call him again. But, Texas law requires that I give him three opportunities to repair bad work before I can file a claim against him. I have numerous photos of his subpar work and videos of his behavior - damaged a brick courtyard throwing his tools around. Dumped a bag of mortar powder all over the grass, chipped two tiles we'd just installed, etc and this doesn't count the nasty mess he left behind that we got to clean up. at that point, I just shut up to get him off property. Another huge mistake. After he called me a liar, he refused to answer the phone or respond to emails or texts. I texted him that not only was the mortar already falling out, less than a week after he "repaired" it, but now it is also cracking, he told me that I don't know what I'm talking about. That mortar cracks. Yes, it does crack, when you use too much water mixing it ... I have turned this over to my attorney. I will file a lawsuit, to recoup the money that we gave him and to hopefully protect anyone else who may look into his work. As a female, I'm warning you - do not let this guy anywhere near your family, your property, or anyone you know. I work with subcontractors every single day, and never have I felt as unsafe as when he was around. This guy is super scary, so don't just walk away, run for your life! read more

The individual we had been working with failed to show for the estimate twice and the clock was ticking.
