Update to my ghosting review with Mason Man. Today Jay did reach back to me and he asked about the status of my roof, and offered compensation for any damage. We discussed the situation and based on the fact the chimney install was 7 years ago, we came to a mutual agreement going forward. He then asked if the ghosting review was written by me? I responded truthfully and explained that his response times were lengthy to say the least. He suggested that going forward, I call to his cell as he is out in the field most of the day. Truth be told, his work is good, he's honest his prices are fair, and we'll see how the cell phone replies work when use him again. read more

They built our extended patio and flower bed really well initially and worked with us at the start. After 6 months we had some cracking that developed in the flower bed in which Justin was helpful in rectifying, however before the 1 year warranty the cracking became real severe after which Justin never responded to my phone calls (which his voicemail box is full) and text messages. We had a real good conversations during the building of it but his follow through (really lack of response) within the year warranty was deplorable and I will not recommend him in the future! read more

Jay from Mason Man has done beautiful work for us in the past, building several planters in front and back yards. We called and had Jay come back out in early Dec. for an estimate to finish the planters in our backyard. We received an estimate and after 2 days decided to have the work done. I called and left a voice mail saying OK to the estimate and asked when they would start. This is was around the middle of Dec. I called on a Saturday and spoke to a woman and I told her what I needed. She said she would get a hold of Jay and have him call me back that day. No callback. Have since left 3 voice mails and still no call back. Also advised if they needed to wait until after the first of the new year, that was OK too. Very frustrated. I know they do good work and had great customer service in the past. Wondering what is going on now. read more

After the winter freeze this year the limestone coping around my pool was heavily damaged with chipping, flaking and cracked grout all around. Jaye and his crew did an amazing job sanding it all down, re-grouting between the stones and even fixed a few cracks in my decking. In fact it now looks better than when I bought the house/pool a few years ago. I was absolutely impressed how great it looked when it was done! They are true craftsman and knew what they were doing, very friendly and professional as well. Now to I won't have to worry about scratched up fingers and feet anymore. All I can say is WOW! I left this guy a voicemail on Thursday evening and he called me the next day saying he would drop by sometime Friday around noon. When we met I thought he was going to try and quote me some insane number but he was very reasonable and able to do it the next day. I was pretty amazed when Jaye's crew showed up to do my walkway and was done in 6 hours with exactly what I was looking for in a limestone walkway from my sidewalk to my courtyard. I could not have had a better experience and highly recommend Mason Man for any project that requires masonry or concrete. Jaye with Mason Man offered a ton of pictures of past jobs which really made me feel comfortable with moving forward. He was very professional and detail oriented from the start. His crew was fantastic and as we had them build a patio, pergola, and borders in the front of the house, they were here for several days. They were so nice to have around and worked efficiently and with care. (We work from home and so saw them the whole time). They left the workspace clean and were very quiet considering. When you plan to spend this much money, it's so nice to have a team that is thoughtful and interested in making sure you are satisfied. All bad reviews seem to be about customer service and not quality of work. The quality is superb, I can attest to that. I met with Jaye and showed him photos of the style I wanted and he had no problem with the high-end finish I wanted. He said he would bring me a couple of stone samples the day of so I could choose. It did take a while to get my quote and the office did input my email address wrong... twice. I was pretty annoyed by that. However, he gave me CAD drawings, and he called me back pretty quickly to answer my questions. The quote was accepted on a Friday, and the work was scheduled for the following Tuesday. I was admittedly nervous that they could get a crew in so quickly. They showed up on time and the crew was ready to work. Jaye had me sign the paperwork and he marked the yard per our drawings and brought the stone samples. He picked up 50% as a deposit and introduced me to Rafael, the crew lead and he took off. Again, I was nervous about this. But they always showed up on time and they worked full days. And they worked hard and efficiently. They were punctual and quiet and they worked every single day, including weekends. Rafael asked my permission to work Sunday and Monday (Labor Day) which I appreciated. They finished today, they cleaned up everything including all dust from the driveway. And the work is gorgeous! We are thrilled. They did better than I even expected. It is rare to be able to say that... but they did exceed my expectations in every way with regard to their work product and professionalism. I highly recommend this company if you can get over the fact that maybe they need some better help in the office. read more

We had this company build a fireplace. We had to change the design we wanted, because they said it wouldn't draw, if they built it the way we wanted. It's an inside, 2 way fireplace. We conceded, and they built it the way they wanted. But it doesn't draw. It's been a couple years. They won't return calls. We are very disappointed after paying top dollar, and have something we can't use or enjoy. I gave them 1 star for showing up and doing the work. I hired the Mason Man to do some work on my house a few months ago. The Mason Man himself came by and walked my home to come up with the estimate. He struck me as professional and knew his business. At least one member of his crew that performed the work wasn't in the same league. When the work was being done, Mason Man himself was not there. One of the guys who was doing some caulking around the windows and some other work, was on his cell phone the ENTIRE day. I'm talking at least 8 hours straight. Whenever I would come out to check on things, he'd tell whoever he was talking to that he'd call back and chat me up for a minute or two. Soon as I left, I can hear him back on his cell phone. Later in the day he even asked for an extension cord so he could charge his phone. This guy was completely unprofessional. That would be fine if he did good work, but every handyman/contractor who has come to the house since has asked who did the terrible caulking job. I thought it looked sort of bad while he was doing it, but I figured he knew what he was doing. At some point, I will get that work redone because it does look bad. Some of the other guys reset some bricks that had separated after a foundation move. After they were done, it looked better than it did before, but it didn't look great. Fast forward several months and I see my neighbor having some brick work done and I ask his contractor if he thought he could do a better job. He looked at the work and told me what should have been done (use new bricks) and how to properly set it. I paid him to redo the brick work that Mason Man's guys did. After he did the work, it looked brand new. Night and day between his work and the work of Mason Man's crew. Lastly, Mason Man's crew said they would return to adjust one of my gutters. They told me this after they got my check. Of course I didn't hear from them again. I followed up with them, got an apology and they said the guy would be out later. Never happened. I suspect Mason Man himself does good work, but he should supervise the work of his crew(s). I consider the money I spent to be money wasted. read more

After some other work on the house, I needed a hole in the exterior wall repaired. My first mason bailed and so I was stuck with a plywood-patched hole. It wasn't a big job, and Mason Man was able to fit me in sooner than expected. The work itself was well done, with an excellent match on both stone and grout. The price was fair, and they also quoted out some other work that I'll have them do in a few months after I get the underlying foundation fixed. read more

They've given me a bid and all that needs to be done, which would take all of 5 minutes, is to separate out costs for two pieces of work so we can proceed with one and not both. Colossal joke. I requested and received a proposal promptly from the Mason Man. His price was in line with one other bid I received and approximately $1100 less than a bid I got from another mason in Liberty Hill. Day 1 was mostly staging gear and delivering materials. About 3 rows of stone were laid that day. Day two was a long, full day of hard work by Tony, the lead mason who was a true professional. Much of the day was spent dodging thunderstorms and lightning. As a result the work spilled over into a short third day with work finishing around 11am. I could not be happier with the results. The stonework is excellent with pleasing lines and consistent mortar lines. Stone and brick edges are straight and smooth. My job called for one row of bricks at the top as an accent and this work required some special cuts to look pleasing. Jaye Stark, the owner, did most of the brick work. He is a true craftsman. There were four men who worked on my project. All were friendly and very good at their work. Solid teamwork was evident throughout the project. Cleanup was excellent each day and at the end of the job. I have already asked Jaye for 3 more bids for additional work and will certainly use him again for my masonry needs. read more

The Mason Man built an outdoor kitchen and walkway for us. It came out perfect and exceeded our expectations! The walkway looks beautiful with a circular landing off my back patio and another one at the entrance to my work shed. The kitchen has a decorative back wall that blocks the evening sun and really cools down the patio area. All my kitchen appliances fit like a glove. We will enjoy this stonework as long as we own our home and I know the investment will pay off if we ever decide to sell. Jaye is very straight forward and professional. It only took him about 15 minutes to provide a bid which he wrote on the back of a business card. This shows that he really knows his business and doesn't try to gouge his clients. The other contractor bids I received were twice the price and took them hours and multiple visits to provide. They would start out with an insanely high price and gradually lower it to see how much they could get you to buy off on. The work crews are very proficient and skilled. These guys were awesome. If I could rate them 10 stars I would. My wife and I decided to expand our back cement deck which included elongating the deck portion and adding stairs to give us more access to the backyard. Jaye came out and worked with my wife on the quote. He had a better vision then the other three people we received quotes from. We were pretty sure we wanted to go with Jaye from the start the but we are so bad at visualizing the end product that we felt we had to look at a couple other companies to get their Ideas. Jaye by far and away had the best idea to marry the pool, the pool deck, and our existing deck and do so while making sure it looked like it belonged. They did a great job under rainy circumstances and we could not be happier with the final project. The entire crew was professional, easy to work with and did a fantastic job. Jaye had come out to our house a year ago to see about a drain issue we were having, he was here for about two or three hours and in the end there was not a charge. His kindness that day stayed in our minds when we were deciding on whom we wanted to build our new patio and to brick a portion of our house. Jaye has an excellent eye for design, the design I had in my head couldn't even come close to his amazing design. Jaye made our patio in a moon shape with a sitting bench. The quality of work that Jaye and his crew put into their work is beyond amazing. If we ever had any concerns all I had to do was call Jaye and he took care and calmed our concerns. He is always available morning, noon or evening for his customers, he is just a phone call away. Our next project is to have Jaye do a Pergola for us and I know it also will be awesome.
