DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The manager is extremely rude and condescending. I had them do a patio clean up summer 2023, including plants of their choosing that I requested native Texas plants, easy maintenance and nontoxic, drip line irrigation, metal edging, and Arizona River Rock. Carlo was lovely and the crew worked hard but two of their workers last summer looked about 14 years old. These experts picked toxic plants which an easy Google search by me (not the expert) had to ask them to remove their first choice of plants. They then found plants which all died with their irrigation system. They placed the plants where they would "thrive". The metal edging is full rust 1 year later. They installed rocks that were red and told me it was clay and would need to be washed off or a good rain to appear colorful. Well a year later, they are still red. They brought the wrong wrotes. The irrigation system was spraying water when I turned on the hose so I called them to come out and reattached it in which they wanted to charge me $95. Trying to work with the company was the straw that broke the camels back. They were extremely rude in their tone and when I asked them to work with me, they became condescending. This year, I hired college students from Facebook to plant new plants and it looks SO much better than the professional work. Truly, do not hire them. They are not in the relationship business and do a really poor job. They are far from experts with all my plants dying, the metal rusting (ok that one maybe not their fault or did they pick cheap material?), installing the wrong river rocks, and having an irrigation system that only works for 11 months and even when working, the plants still died. Also, as I look back at my bill, they charged a $75 dollar credit card convenience fee....a bit excessive, but that is what I expect from this company. read more

All that I can say is wow. Seriously stunning work from Austin Gardeners. We wanted a pergola + modern sitting area for our backyard. Joseph came by for our initial consultation and knew exactly how to deliver on our landscape vision. We paid $500 for the design work, which included an itemized breakdown of everything that would be needed to complete the project ($250 of this later went towards the project total). We decided on a cool, new walkway for our front yard, and a raised covered patio area for our back yard. Due to the 2021 shortages, the lead-time to get on their schedule was rough. We first contacted Austin Gardeners in late spring 2021, and the first available slot was in September 2021. The crew arrived on time and got to work right away. They were friendly, professional, and seriously skilled. Everything was created on-site from scratch -- the raised steel planter beds, the concrete pads, the pergola, everything. Midway through the project, we decided to add in new Zoysia grass and have gutters installed, too. The crew lead and the guys were flexible and very responsive to our feedback. Even after the project was completed, the team followed up on most of our fit-and-finish issues. My one critique: we received a very sad-looking lemon ball sedum plant, which we reported a couple of times. It is still sad. Was it worth the wait overall? I would say definitely yes. We had Austin Gardeners completely redesign our backyard just in time for the holidays. The crew worked tirelessly to provide what we requested and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. I still cannot believe this is our back yard; it looks just like a picture from a magazine. Now we don't even have to worry about watering and mowing the back yard! They installed a new fence on top of newly installed synthetic grass that is pet friendly. They also planted all new beds which included uplighting that is gorgeous. They worked hard and did a great job. The custom metal edges are sturdy and modern and the plant selection was wise. Absolutely absurd experience trying to work with Austin Gardeners. The epitome of overpromise and underdeliver. I tried 7 times just to get an initial quote from them after they'd already come out and seen the project and they just can't seem to be bothered. Called on 1/13. They were willing to fit me on on Saturday 1/20 - ok, appreciate willing to meet on the weekend. Meet with Carlos, seemingly have a good conversation, am told I will be sent options to consider Monday and a quote by the following Friday. 1st week goes by - nothing 2nd week goes by - nothing, but it is the week of the freeze, so sure. 3rd week Monday - I call, the receptionist puts me on hold to talk to Carlos, says I'll have the quote by EoW and he'll send me the options to look at ASAP. 3rd week goes by - still nothing 4th week - I call again, receptionist calls Carlos and assures me I'll have the quote by end of day today or tomorrow. 2 days go by - still nothing. I call again, assured I'll have quote by end of day. Do not receive anything. Next day - I call again - receptionist says Carlos will send the quote and call within 10 minutes. He does not send me anything nor does he call that day. Next day - call again, receptionist is apologetic, says Carlos is in the office, puts me on hold, and says he'll send me the quote in 5 minutes and call. Does not send me anything nor does he call. 2 hours later - I call, new receptionist apologizes, says I will definitely have it end of day. Can you guess by now whether or not I received it? Of course I didn't. Ultimately, when I finally receive the quote, outside of being for my property, it has little to do with what we talked about and several multiples of what I told them my budget was. It literally felt as if they just made things up. These guys have great reviews and are local. I felt good about the conversation I had with Carlos but I made the mistake of having faith in them and not looking for other quotes and I wasted 5 weeks waiting for them. Shame on me, but shame on them. The lack of professionalism from services in Austin is endemic and Austin Gardeners appears to be no exception. read more

After cancelling our first appointment 45 mins before they were scheduled to show, Manuel came out, gave me great ideas for what he envisioned for our yard, he left and I never heard back. I expect my project to cost between $30-45k so it's not like he didn't think my job was worth his time. I'm really not sure why I didn't get a proposal, but I do know that if I have to chase a contractor down just to tell me how much money he wants for my job that it's a pretty good sign of what my experience working with them will be. In addition to how pleased I am with the outcome, the process was smooth and his crew was extremely skilled, courteous, efficient and professional. Much of the landscape hardware was hand-welded on-site. They started the job on time and completed within 3 weeks, just as they had anticipated. The landscape plants that Manuel selected were lovely. I did request replacements for a few of the plants based on my preferences, and they easily made the substitutions where available. My backyard is now an oasis that I never want to leave. They cleaned up our overgrown plants and trees, cleaned and re-grouted our crumbling walkways, and xeriscaped some areas that we didn't want to keep up with anymore. Loved that they called to ask if they could begin the project earlier than expected. They came daily, even in inclement weather and finished early. The crew were very nice, careful not to leave any messes and even took the extra time to decorate the potted plants we already had on our stoop to coordinate with the look of the rest of the yard. They found a drainage issue and creatively and beautifully addressed it during the project. Their plants are warrantied and when we found that one type of plant didn't agree with our soil, they promptly scheduled replacement. Austin Gardeners was a FANTASTIC experience. We called them on a Friday and Miguel came out next week to build the quote for redoing our front planter. He had a great visual for what we want and some recommendations on improving the curb appeal of our house. He sent us the quote that same evening, and after a few back-and-forths on plants we were quite happy with the very reasonable quote. It seemed expensive at first compared to competitors, but this was going to be built to last and have the exact stone and plants we wanted. We were scheduled for a Friday start date 1 week later. I couldn't be at home for the start time, but the crew confirmed with me the day prior that they would be out around 1030 after picking up materials. I arrived home around 1100, and the deconstruction was well underway. I was greeted by Frank who gave me a quick review of what was done, and what was going to be done that day. It was very reassuring, and I felt like our planter was in great hands. The crew of 4 did in 2 days what would have taken me 2 months. There was concrete and rebar layering, cinder block fortifying, and finally stone laying. It was astounding how quick and efficient they were with allowing the mortar and concrete to dry throughout the process. My wife arrived home after work, and Frank greeted her and discussed the whole project. Again, great communication! The crew left around 7pm, and I felt it necessary to bring out a few celebratory beers for the great work they had done this far. Saturday, the crew came out around 11, and finished the stone laying and BEAUTIFUL topper that we didn't even have a vision for until Miguel mentioned it. We had to leave throughout the day, and the crew needed access to our sprinkler system and garage outlet in the event one of our temperamental outlets shorted (which is did, but only needed a reset). Before we departed we laid out the plants almost exactly as the crew envisioned. We felt totally comfortable leaving our garage open (door locked of course since they didn't need to get inside) for the crew to access those items. We came back around 5:30 and the project was done! All in all, this was superbly better than any experience I could imagine. The price was right, and my back isn't killing me. I CANNOT wait to use Austin Gardeners again for our backyard after we've saved up a few bucks!!! read more
