Jacks is a great place to connect with friends and make new ones along the way! The staff is great and service is fantastic. It's conveniently located in Japantown and I would highly recommend stopping by for a drink!

This place always treats me right and they're dog friendly. Great beer selection, amazingly friendly staff and the outdoor patio is built for all weather. As an English person missing a pub, this fills a lot of that void which is an amazing compliment for a US establishment.

this place is fine. drinks leave much to be desired. could see it being a good place to watch a game, but not our top choice even for that.

Stopped by here to watch the women's usa game before catching a flight. This is an Arsenal and an Outlaws bar. 3 stars on the food. The fries were ok and the pizza was tasty but not phenomenal. The game atmosphere though? 5/5 stars! Street parking nearby was easy and service was good. Come here to sit outside and watch the game with some buddies but maybe get food beforehand.

Jack's is somewhat divey on the inside, but their back patio is excellent - lots of seating, plenty of TVs, and propane heaters for when it's cold out. They also have a separate patio bar, but unfortunately that was closed the last time I visited (I think they're a bit understaffed). Dogs are allowed on the patio, but only until 9PM which is oddly specific. I visited for the second time with my friends on Thursday, and there were plenty of open tables. Everyone else was there to watch the football game, but it didn't get too loud at all. The downside with Jack's is that there's basically no information on their website - just an outdated beer list. I had no idea that they also serve food and have craft cocktails, but they do! I ended up just going with a dry cider, but will probably branch out next time. Prices are very reasonable too!

In walking distance from my apartment! Came in on Super Bowl Sunday 2025 to watch the game on the patio with my dog. There was a plethora of tv screens playing the game and a good amount of space heaters. The vibes were nice... not too loud and arrogant. Oh and I had the BEST lemon drop... like seriously i order lemon drops everywhere and this one was one of my favorites. I'll be sure to frequent this place since it's in walking distance.

Alter Ego is a proper intimate lounge with their full bar, and it feels like a world away from the street outside. The transition between the two spaces is surprisingly seamless and genuinely fun to experience. And they're open late, which puts them in a rare category of places actually worth staying out for. Also, it had a New York type vibe with the brick walls and it wasn't too dark so we weren't struggling to look at menus or anything. The bartenders were quick and got to us within minutes. I'm currently not drinking any alcohol, so I ordered a Coco L'Orange, which ended up tasting like a sweeter Orange Julius. I really enjoyed it like a dessert drink since I just had dinner. I also appreciated how it didn't just taste like straight sugar syrup, which is my usual experience with spirit free cocktails. However, it was pretty tart, so I suggest just sipping on it. It helped a lot with feeling like was drinking with everyone the whole time without having to order multiple drinks. Regarding seating, we somehow found a table in the back where our party of 18 guys could hangout, and it wasn't so loud we couldn't hear each other. I barely go out anymore, but in this area I now prefer this establishment since I could sip on a good non-alcoholic drink without worrying about someone accidentally running into me and spilling on me. There were also plenty glass water bottles going around to keep everyone hydrated.

I came here with a friend on a weekday for dinner and it was not packed at all. The atmosphere was very minimalist and clean, with a cute disco ball in the corner. This establishment requires you to order at the bar (makes sense it's a bar), and then they did you a number for the table so they can deliver your food. Any drinks you order they will make it right then and there for you to bring over. What a rich treat. * Arancini: The twist of fusion flavors was great. I love how the Japanese curry added a nice mix of umami, paired with the sharp creamy kimchi sauce. Definitely a favorite! * Pork belly: Pull apart, juicy, and tender! These paired actually really well with the arancini for a good balance of rice and meat. * Red miso crème brûlée: interesting sweet and salty flavor combination between the red miso and Madagascar vanilla.
