Not LGBTQ+ friendly; verbal and physical intimidation. Maybe not all nights, but I was physically threatened.

I wanted to find a place where I can go, have fun, and watch my football games. I've been to…read moreDowntown Rookies before but wasn't quite sold so I decided to give Rookies a second chance. First game of the season. I walked in, was greeted by the manager and after some good old 'ribbing' I was seated at the table near the window facing First Street. I was 'given' the TV at the right corner of the projection screen. I didn't mind. I was ready to watch my New York Jets! Soon a waitress came over and greeted me, her name was Olivia, shook my hand which made me feel right at home. My friend joined me and she greeted him the same way. Olivia's service was great! Warm, friendly, talkative and had a great sense of humor. Perfect! Olivia made Rookies our go-to spot. After a couple of Sundays, the cracks in their system started to show. Olivia did her best as we were the only table she was given to wait on. I couldn't believe that she would be treated that way, especially after her great personality. We skipped a week, which brings me to the reason for the One Star. My friend was already there and it was the day before my birthday. I was looking forward to catching up with our friend Olivia but she was nowhere to be found. My friend told me that she was absent. Oh Boy. Our waitress was nice and took our orders. My friend already had a water and coffee so we ordered a Corona for myself. We asked our waitress, I didn't get her name as she didn't introduce herself to us. I've seen her around in our last visits, but she didn't introduce herself then either. We asked for Nachos with beef and al pastor for 11 AM, which is when they start to serve lunch. We asked to have the sour cream and the guac on the side. She wrote it down on her note pad then walked away. The TV at the right lower corner, the one that I was 'assigned' was off and I asked about it. Our waitress stated that the manager would be in just before 10 AM to get it going for us. We ordered a round of 32 oz beers. The manager made his way in and recognized us. A young lady, she didn't introduce herself to us either, told the waitress that the TV was assigned to the Jets game. The TV didn't work so we were given two others to watch. During the process, we were assigned a different waitress, Gabby, and were told that she was taking care of us. Gabby seemed a little 'out of it' and after a few moments she told us that she was 'hungover'. wow. It was 10 past 11 and asked about our Nachos. Gabby had no idea so she put our order in again. Rookies was getting busier and we ordered another round which took about five minutes to get. I saw that Gabby was soon overwhelmed and proceeded to rush past us with other peoples food. There was a table next to us that didn't get noticed for about ten minutes. It was a mother and daughter. The mother finally decided to grab our previous waitress's attention. I saw Gabby with an order of nachos....which went to a different table. Food came out, plate after plate, and still no food for us. We ordered another round and this time it took about ten minutes to get. Gabby came to us and apologized about how long it was taking. I told her that I saw her take nachos to a different table along with other food plates to people that were there well after us. Our nachos got burnt Gabby said. If I were to guess, it took about an hour and a half before we got our food along with our last round of drinks. Tables with four or more people were getting their food almost immediately after they ordered it. The Rookies conference room had the same kind of service. We were ignored. I joked that we should have brought two others so that we could at least eat and drink within a reasonable time. It was disheartening. Rookies is understaffed due to its mis-management. Our tab included a $46 gratuity fee which was not earned. Not going back and it's a true shame because I was ready to become a regular, actually I thought I already was.

We started off with a full order of wings split between the Honey BBQ and the Hong Kong flavors. The Honey BBQ was good but the Hong Kong wings had a unique savory flavor that kept us wanting more. The prime rib was fantastic - tender, juicy, and an excellent deal for the portion size. The veggies and potatoes did the job but understood they weren't the main attraction. Because the Thursday night special is popular, be prepared to wait for a bit. It's a great spot to catch a game, grab a drink, and enjoy the Happy Hour deals (there's a different one for every weekday!). Great vibes, lots of screens, and attentive service even though it was busy. We're definitely adding it to our restaurant rotation.

This bar has great food, the drinks were hot or miss, and the service wasn't that great. The bar was definitely understaffed when we first got there. The servers were very nice, things just took a long time to come out. We quickly learned to order more as they were bringing things out. The food was great. We took advantage of the 1/2 off appetizers. We ordered the steamed pork wontons, pork egg rolls, pot stickers, and a full order of wings. The wontons were juicy and had a nice subtle umami flavor. The pork egg rolls were crispy and had a balanced flavor of veggies and meat, the pot stickers were juicy and full of meat, the wings were crispy and well seasoned. We opted for mango habanero and jalapeño orange. The jalapeño orange was chefs kiss. It was a nice sticky citrus glaze with a nice heat to the palette. The mango were a bit underwhelming and lacked heat. The drinks were hot or miss on the happy hour menu. The old fashion was too sweet, the Tito's mule smelled like feet and tasted awful, the Pueblo view margarita was good. You could taste the tequila and it balanced well with the mixers. The ambiance is casual and gives pub/bar scenes. They have large tv, bar seating, booths, and tables. I would definitely come again.
