This restaurant looks a bit like an English pub inside. The staff size is small but service was still timely. If you are in a hurry you may need to walk to the register to check out before getting your bill. The food quality and flavors are excellent. The shepherds pie was a pleasant surprise. We finally had a chance to give Jack's a try, and we were glad we did. After a bit of debate, we went for the skewer tower and selected different meats to try - beef, chicken, lamb and salmon. The presentation didn't disappoint and all the meats were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. We would have preferred bigger portions of the sides of veggies, rice, and sauces. They've done a nice job converting the physical space so you feel like you are enjoying a dining experience rather than a converted retail space. We didn't know until we got to the restaurant that it is bring your own alcohol. Not sure if they plan to apply for a liquor license in the future. read more

Very good. I'm glad we found it. It was not listed under Mediterranean Food in Yelp (that needs to get fixed), and is in a bit of an odd location adjacent to a laundromat. But if you find it, I'm pretty sure you'll like it. Inside it is very nice, with cozy seating and nice art on the walls. The menu is extensive, and it was difficult to choose what we wanted to try. We were tempted by the skewer platters and skewer towers that we saw others ordering, but that was a bit out of our budget for this meal. We enjoyed everything that we did order though, from appetizers through main courses through desserts. There are options at every price range. Portsions were generous and presentation was nice. The kids and the adults enjoyed it. Service was attentive and the kitchen was reasonably fast. read more

We had the Lamb Rolls for an appetizer. Lizzie had the Lamb Shepherd's Pie, I had the Wood Grilled Skewer Platter. What can I say except wow ... The Lamb Rolls were amazing. Combining the Tzatziki with the Buffalo Sauce is a marvelous combination of flavors, and the ingredients are already a marvelous combination. Put it all together and you have brilliance. The Shepherd's Pie was rich and thick and amazing. The crust was a nice sort of flaky, the ingredients were very tasty. I had the lamb and the steak for my skewers. They were wonderfully spiced, perfectly cooked. The veggies had a marvelous seasoning to them. I would call the bread pita, not naan, but that is being picky, even for me. All in all, this was a great meal. They do tend to be on the pricey side, but well worth it. We will definitely return if we get back to Normal. read more

Stopped here for an early lunch with the hubby and Dad. The place is very elegant and classy. The service is fantastic! The prices were very reasonable. Now the food was AMAZING!!! The hubby had octopus as an appetizer and I had cream of mushroom soup. DELICIOUS. We then the tower of skewers with several sides. DELICIOUS! My Dad had the Salmon burger. Everything is fresh and seasoned perfectly. My hubby is very hard to please but he was VERY pleased. To top it off we had their homemade deserts. yummy. We will be coming here again!!! read more

I checked Yelp for a restaurant for dinner in Normal and Jack's had great reviews. It's a comfortable setting with a nice selection of appetizers and entrees. They don't have a liquor license but the raspberry tea was great! We started with an appetizer special, the duck bacon wontons. Great start. For our entrees my wife had the dill salmon which came with a hearty side of rice and asparagus. I had the Paella which came with mussels, chicken, shrimp, and scallops. Wow, what a delicious meal. Old world charm, delicious menu and service by a kid that hasn't eaten most things on the menu, seems stoned but never once looked at his phone while working and gave it his all. We ordered a bunch of stuff and I snapped a few pics of the food. Place is great - we ate everything. Wasn't real busy - not sure why. For my entree, I went with Chimichurri Chicken Thighs - comes with roasted potato and grilled veggies along with a delish red pepper (harissa) sauce that had a tiny, perfect bit of heat. Just no, we gave it a shot on a Saturday at 5 not busy, took a bit to sit.. took 20 minutes to get water.. service was slow, but the place got busy. Way after we ordered, So about one hour later I get my burger and mashed potatoes, cold bland potatoes , burger so dry i had to rib off all the breat and just eat the meat was so dry I couldn't even with my one refill of water.. my buddy was impressed with his gyro... didn't like the onion rings. We were on our way home from Chicago and decided to find someplace in Bloomington Normal to stop for lunch. Service was awesome. I had the Jack's Specialty Philly. It was fantastic. Loved the bread. The service what OK, not great. The waiter gave us a hard time when we asked for a specifc table in an empty restaurant. The food came out in a reasonable time, but there is no bread or salad before the main course on any of their meals, so it seemed like a long time. Both steaks were overcooked and full of gristle, and the waiter gave us butter knifes to cut them with which did not work. The waiter agreed that my wife's steak was unusually thin and overcooked but did not offer to fix it. He said only the manager could approve changes and they were not on site. It was very disappointing after reading good reviews from others and taking my wife there for our 27th anniversary. read more

My wife and I visited for the first time last night for a rare date night. From the outside you don't really know what to expect. It appeared to be a side street diner with maybe hamburgers on the menu. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. The atmosphere was very classy yet down-to-earth. Service from start to finish was exceptional; it was friendly, professional, and prompt. Knowing it was a family owned resturaunt made it even better! The menu was interesting - in a good way. I loved the Mediterranean cuisine. We had Lamb Rolls as an appetizer. My wife decided pretty quickly that lamb isn't her thing so I got to have them to myself. I liked them but next time I'll ask for less buffalo sauce. My wife ordered Roasted Vegetable Pasta and I ordered Chicken Roulade. Both of us were happy and full after finishing our meals. Next time I want to try the kabobs. The table next to us had them and they looked amazing. My wife doesn't like to try new tastes as much as I do, but having menu items like seafood, sandwiches, and burgers will help me get us back for more Mediterranean tastes. The google site says that people usually spend 45 min to 1 1/2hours here. Is that before or after they order? Let's hope the food is good. And soon! They started bringing our the food. YAY! I had the Curried Carrot with Spiced Yogurt soup. It was very creamy and pretty good. I then had Jack's Special Salad. They forgot the goat cheese and they didn't have ant honey balsamic vinegar so I had to ask for some honey. I ordered a Hummus plate to go The hummus was bland and the carrots were cooked. Three people said the Lamb rolls and the Lamb Shepherds Pie were delicious. My husband had the Wood Grilled Lamb Sausage Flatbread. He said the lamb tasted more like gyro than a sausage. We were just in town for the night after 8 hrs of driving. Found this place on Yelp, very close to our hotel. There was only one other occupied table, a large party (about 12) celebrating a birthday. We received service promptly by a very friendly young lady. We ordered the beet/burrata/arugula salad, the lamb shepherds pie, and a mixed chicken/lamb skewer platter. Each of these were quite large portions! First the salad, which was dressed lightly and most deliciously with a vinaigrette; it was loaded with beets, fresh arugula, a large round of burrata and chopped walnuts. So delicious! Next the lamb shepherds pie, another large portion, with ground lamb, onions, peas, carrots that was covered by a mound of buttery mashed potatoes. Very yummy! And last but definitely not least was the skewer platter which was huge! I ordered a mix of chicken and lamb skewers and the entree came with delicious mixed vegetables (zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, cauliflower, and mushrooms). The lamb was lean, lightly seasoned, and perfectly cooked (pink in middle); the chicken was also lightly seasoned and most pieces were moist except for a couple small pieces. Both entrees came with several slices of naan bread. We tried our best to eat every morsel of this delicious food, but we couldn't finish the bread and a couple pieces of chicken. If we lived here we'd be eating the entire menu as often as possible! They don't serve alcohol but allow BYOB and no corkage fee, and they supply the glasses! All I can say is WOW, you must try this place!! read more

We recently visited Jack's for the first time. Our meal was excellent. The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. The only slight negative was that the restaurant was quite warm. (It was a miserably hot day). But our server offered to move a fan by our table. So nice! My mom had the creamy gnocchi with mushrooms and vegetables. She said it was very good. My husband had the crispy chicken sandwich with onion rings, which he really enjoyed. I had the beet salad with walnuts and feta. Amazing! Truly one of the best salads I've ever had. Not sure why we've never tried Jack's before, but we'll definitely be back. read more
