Had brunch here today. I'm picky on breakfast foods because I think my homemade breakfasts are pretty hard to beat (if I do say so myself lol). Got the meat lover's skillet and it was SO GOOD. Flavors were amazing and it was cooked perfectly. I had a hard time deciding between several menu items and I'm so glad I went with this one. I'll honestly have a hard time trying something new next time because this was just so delicious! Their coffee was great and the mimosa with fresh squeezed OJ was so refreshing. 10/10! I couldn't get the review to work that the server provided, so I'll review them on Yelp. My wife and I went here for our anniversary, as I think we've exhausted the places to eat in BloNo. Flame@Bloom piques my curiosity every time I drive past, so I figured we'd go there. Being a Wednesday evening, it was pretty quiet. You can get anything on their menu all day long, meaning breakfast, which looks amazing, and is now the 3rd place in this central IL hamlet that I know has chilaquiles. We got 3 different taco plates to split, and went with the server's rec ... the birria beef, butter chx, and fish ... we couldn't finish the fish. It's pretty reasonable, and would have only been about $60 for 6 tacos and an order of samosas, but I had 2 beers. I digress ... Anyways, I even thought it was a restaurant the kids might like, and they like nothing! read more

At first glance, we were concerned since the menu had SO many options, and when we visited, the restaurant was largely empty (a Monday around 4:45pm). The food was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised! My only suggestion is to change the music. It was mainstream and up to date, but it also included bad language. I heard the f word no less than three times in songs played during our meal. This should be corrected, and soon, lest it chase away others. I had a teen with me, and while I know they have heard this language before, I would prefer they did not hear it in situations that I can control (like dinner). read more

Only posting on my first visit to share that they have an opening special going right now offering $5 off Tu-Fr 6 AM to 10 AM only. I think it's supposed to run thru the month of Nov anyway. A quick first impression food-wise was breakfast-based - essentially bacon and sausage, egg and cheese on a softer English muffin with a (bit too) sweet tomato jam on both muffin halves. It WAS tasty with the tomato jam as the differentiator. I woulda preferred the bacon be turned into bacon jam instead but unique for sure. The accompanying hash browns were buttery and well seasoned but shoulda been left to crisp another minute. Coffee and the atmosphere were perfectly fine as the Mexican fiesta music upon entry was a bit loud and replaced with softer classic rock after 15 mins or so. the food is ok. the menu is atrocious. we went there because someone wanted a cheeseburger and they had decent reviews. We had to look at the menu for 10 minutes to find the cheeseburger which was in with their breakfast offerings. My problem with this restaurant is that it does not know what it wants to be. Is it nice sophisticated decor or a kids place like Chuck E. Cheese? if you like One Direction, they have these goofy cartoon people holding eggs and toast, but if you look the other direction, it's nice higher end decor. I would only go back here if I had a group of people that just couldn't agree on where to eat. If I want Mexican, I'm going to an authentic Mexican restaurant. If I want brunch, I'm going to a restaurant known for breakfast and brunch. if I want Indian, I'm going to the best Indian restaurant in town. I get that they're trying to be fusion, but it comes across as just jumbled and confusing.. The one thing you can say about this place, it is very low cost! read more

I want to start this review off by saying that the food was really good! The service needs work! I called and made reservations and then when I got there, they told me it would be 10 to 15 minutes before we would be seated. Once we got seated, we waited for a good amount of time before anybody came to our table. Both the person that sat us and the waitress seemed like they just had no energy to be there. When we ordered appetizers, they brought me the wrong dish. After that things went well, and the food was great. Maybe they were having an off day and I will come back and hope the service is better. The waitress did come back at the end of our meal and she seemed happier and a little more upbeat. read more

Truly, I have been so eager to visit Flame @ Bloom for so long. It's always exciting to see a new restaurant move into town and it's especially good when existing business owners are expanding their influence. So here is my honest review after having brunch at Bloom. About Flame @ Bloom: From what I understand, Flame is a fusion inspired restaurant that combines various cuisines served with an east Asian twist. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a focus on merging amazing cultural cuisines. Today is one of those days where brunch is a must. It's cold outside and the Midwest weather is uninviting. We decided to get out of the house and try Flame. When walking into the restaurant, you're met with bright colors and open kitchen, and a friendly greeter. We were quickly ushered to the middle of the restaurant to a table that sat four. The ambience of the restaurant seemed festive and bright, however at 11 AM, We were struck that there were very few people dining. Our waitress was kind and attentive, we ordered our drinks after being given menus. The coffee was very hot and it was perfect. I could tell that it came from Bloom Barista, one of the owners other restaurants. It didn't taste like diner coffee, or restaurant coffee. it was balanced and low acidity, it was quite perfect, and sadly the highlight of my dining experience. The menu was full. It was two pages. They serve tacos, brunch, and a few other things. Personally, I like the simple menu that sticks with the things that work. On the branch menu, they had a lot of traditional American foods that you'd find in a café like this. They also had what seem to be more complex offerings beyond the waffles, pancake pancakes, and eggs. I decided to order the Chilaquiles and she ordered the shakshuka. Our waitress was very attentive, kind, and quickly placed our order into the system. Then l we chatted and waited. I was happy to see that more and more people were coming into the restaurant, and we were no longer alone. However, what this did reveal was the acoustics of the restaurant - they were very loud. My companion even said at one point it's "so loud in here. I can't hear myself talk." That's OK, lots of restaurantsare loud, that doesn't mean that it's not a good one. When our food came, it looked amazing, like picture perfect good. We started getting into our dishes and that's when the disappointment set in. The Chilaquiles look picture worthy, however I quickly learned the chips were soggy. If you've ever had Chilaquiles, you know that they're basically breakfast nachos with runny eggs, some sort of meat, covered by a red or green broth. That means you're going to result in soggy chips at some point. However, this was the very beginning of my meal and what I could tell was the quality of the corn chips was like the kind you get at the ballpark. They are crispy when they're dry, but not high-quality to stand up to the job they were made for in this dish. I have some other critiques, however I'll leave them out at this time. My companion on the other hand ordered what I thought I should've ordered, shakshuka! If you've ever had Mediterranean or North African shakshuka you know that it's a dish made with spicy peppers, tomatoes, onions, garlic, cumin, and spices that are cooked down into and unctuous and spicy sauce where in eggs are poached in the liquid. My family, when we make them, we pair it with southern style cheese grits. It just so happens so does Flame except this dish is missing the spicy peppers, the tomatoes, the onions and all the yum Mediterranean flavors and spices you would associate with this dish. What was served was fried eggs over grits with scallions, andouille sausage, and grated Parmesan. To be honest, this was puzzling. It was nothing like shakshuka, however it was good and better than the Chilaquiles. At the end of our breakfast, and after many times visiting our table, our waitress asked how the food was. We were kind, we were honest, and we were done. When we brought up the shakshuka, the waitress even commented that this was a common reaction and the manager sometimes tells people it's not real shakshuka. I complimented her on her honesty and told her that I thought the dish was good, it doesn't resemble shakshuka. They should just call it grits and andouille bowl and avoid the misunderstanding. In the end, my experience Flame was just OK. I didn't walk away with an opinion like I had hoped. Knowing how good the other restaurants are this one needs time to mature. My hope is the next time I return to Flame I can try other items on the menu and enjoy the restaurant from a different point of view. Until then, this is my review and my experience. I wish them much success, and I hope to see the quality of my next meal reach of level of the other establishments in the Bloom portfolio. read more

We were looking for something new and happened upon Flame@Bloom in Normal IL. Shortly after noon, we were pleased to find they were still serving breakfast. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken-fried steak, eggs, hash browns, and sausage gravy (though I would have stacked it differently). Service was great. We'll be back. Just wondering - if you have a great meal, then go back, do you get the same thing or take a risk that something else might not be as good? read more

My son and husband were here before and loved it. We ordered the Queso for the table and it was great. We then ordered our meals. I was a bit full and ordered soup for my meal. The soup came out immediately. I asked if theirs was coming as well. The person who delivered it said no. Why would you bring my soup first??? I did not want to eat alone. Bottom line the soup was barely warm the initial time. So I waited until the other 2 entrees were served and asked that they reheat the soup. She argued with me about why she brought it first. It's an appetizer she said. It was my meal. Soup was still lukewarm and I took it to-go. The waitress needs to be properly trained. Too many people waiting on you. read more

Queso Dip (chorizo): Don't order this unless you like a ton of mix-ins in your queso. Had a very characteristic flavor to it, almost like a breakfast sausage. Wouldn't order again. Chorizo & Potato Pambazo: Mediocre. Had a nice mild spice to it. Very filling on its own. Also wouldn't order again. Birria Tacos: Decent. Our server was very friendly and professional. The menu looks very interesting for breakfast or brunch. We were eating at 5 pm. The margarita was a bit lacking in flavor. I want to start with saying that the food was AMAZING but my review rating is mainly based on the service. I went with a couple friends for brunch and our waitress,Stephanie, was not the best. She was a bit rude and condescending with her remarks. Considering it was our first time there, it would've been nice to have been asked if we had been there before or not because she just assumed we knew what things were and the menu names that were given to traditional mexican food (specifically rice which we refer to as "Mexican Rice" and it was named something different on the menu). My friend received an item she did not order and when we asked about it Stephanie said she was not going to charge her for that item and still did. Then, when my friend brought it up to her, she made it seem like my friend was lying. When we had our food, she checked on us ONCE. But when were done and stayed to chat, she came about every 5mins asking if "everything's ok"? Which felt like she was trying to rush us out. TLDR; All in all, food and drinks were delicious (10/10) but customer service from the specific waitress was bad (3/10). read more
