When you enter Veracruz you see an incredible listing of all of food choices. It would take a while to work your way through the entrees. You order at the counter, find a table and they deliver your selections. I had the Al Pastor Tacos, which were well seasoned and very tender. My wife ordered the Chicken Quesadillas which was also very tasty. We've been looking for a good Mexican restaurant since moving here this will be our go to place. read more

I'm giving them 4 stars but my overall score is a 7/10. The ground beef burrito is rock solid. The queso Blanco dip is good too. I wouldn't recommend any of the salsas unless you like terrible liquidy concoctions that have the viscosity of a witches brew. read more

Had lunch here yesterday with my son. We walked in and it was packed. (Always a good sign) We both ordered burritos. I got the large steak burrito w cheese. He got the large chicken burrito. Our meal was tasty and enjoyable. The employees were all very nice. We'll be back for more. read more

Came here during my lunch. There was quite a line to this spot but it flowed pretty quickly. I ordered the taco combo with carne asada, no onions, with cheese and sour cream. It came with rice and beans and three salsas to choose from. I figured they'd add cheese and sour cream to the side and require me to add it but no, they added them to the taco so everything was perfectly melted and added in. The meat was amazing and well cooked. Squeezed some lime in and added salsa and it was even more delicious and very filling. Probably some of the best tacos I've had and everything was quick. Also had horchata and it was great. I do prefer it less sweet but it didn't bother me. Staff is friendly as well. I will be back! read more

The salsa is fresh, the corn tortillas are wonderful, the rice had green beans, (mock nopaleta?), and was moist and fluffy! The counter woman was friendly and was sure to ask each customer if they wanted salsa. Of the three tacos, the chicken was my favorite, but I'm a sucker for that smoky chipotle flavor. Each taco had two corn tortillas and was nicely filled and lime wedge was on on the side. Just look at my pic; it says it all! I came in starving, craving "real" tacos because I just moved here from Texas and hadn't had my weekly taco quota. This hit the spot! Everything tasted just like Home! Now that I know Veracruz is here, my transition to living in the mid-west will be a little easier. read more

Nothing more I could say about Veracruz than amazing. The tacos are outstanding, the service is amazing, and the people who run it are also great. I have ate at other Mexican places in town, but this is one of my top favorites. As other reviewers stated, sometimes the wait can be long whenever it gets busy or during peak hours. As another reviewer mentioned, I would go right when they open to avoid that wait time if at all possible. I ordered the steak taco with only cheese on it. The corn shell tasted fresh, the steak hot, and the cheese just melting on it. The corn shell itself also was very hot and at an acceptable temp. This is my go to order when I hit up Veracruz, but you can do whatever you fancy. I order my food to-go like many others do here, and I would gladly suggest this fine restaurant to people who enjoy Mexican food and enjoy great service. This is a hot spot in town for Mexican food, especially their tacos. I would gladly give it my full amount of stars! read more

Restaurant inside is dirty. They also cannot get an order correct. This restaurant also asks for tips BEFORE service and food is delivered. That is a straight up scam, especially when they cant get the order correct. Have to speak spanish to them or something. good luck! read more

Let me start by saying that I was going to give it a 4 star but nearly an hour before closing they had already run out of things I asked for, didn't have some things listed on the menu and over all didn't look like they wanted to be serving people at that time - they wanted to close down and go home. That being said, the food was amazing and I cant wait to go back there. This is the most authentic Mexican I have had out here. They don't serve everything with ground meat drowning in melted cheese. We ordered the nacho supreme and sopes which were amazing. The salsa's they have are mouth wateringly spicy and the perfect condiment for everything. I am looking forward to going back, earlier in the day so I'll have more options to choose from...hopefully. I will say, after sensing our frustration with not being able to get what we wanted, one of the employees let me use a debit card without reaching their minimum charge needed. An authentic Mexican kitchen with traditional dishes is usually pure delight for me and I look forward to trying new places that are authentic...problem was the food was authentic but also average to poor and the experience was even worse. I could rattle on a while about the service and cleanliness of this establishment but I will highlight the top two concerns. The ice machine was broken so the put a container/tub of ice on the front counter where you order with a metal spoon in it to scoop yourself some ice. Second, as I am sitting in my booth waiting for my meal, II glance down at the floor; dead bugs, clumps of hair, straight disgusting. I was still willing to slightly overlook these issues in the hopes the reviews I read on their al pastor and chorizo street tacos panned out...they did not. Two chorizo, one pastor and side of rice; all were dry, flavorless and pretty greasy in nature along with over ripened lime wedges that were so old the juice wouldn''t even squirt out. Final verdict, edible so not a 1* but I will not be back and would recommend taking a pass on this place! read more

You aren't coming to Veracruz for the ambiance, it is about the flavorful food. In fact, the restaurant's seating area is pretty small which also explains why the large number of carry out orders we watched while we were there enjoying our meal. The three of us had a different type of taco so we could share and try different options. While all the toppings were a-la-cart, the price was still reasonable for all the food served. Tasty pulled pork wrapped encased in skins with beans and rice. Served it up with a Orange Fanta. Truth there's soda selection is weak - but I should have opted for the horchatta. I have visited this restaurant on two separate occasions and was displeased both times. I've had authentic Mexican food before, baby, this wasn't it. The steak in my tacos were tough, Al pastor tasted off, tortillas taste weird, I don't know if it's them or the oil they used, but the food lacked flavor, plus they give you limes that should've been tossed out years ago; hard like a rock and no juice. What I can say is good though is their horchata and their rice. Those are the only two things I'd get if I decide to patronize this restaurant again. read more

No wonder this place has such a high rating! I loved my experiences here. Down to earth local taco place who serve the authentic tacos and friendly services. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered all those authentic tacos (beef tongue, beef tripe, pastor, etc). There are only 2 more places in town who do that. And those tacos might be the best tasting one out of all three! All the ingredients tasted super fresh and tasty. Their chips and salsa are pretty unique too. Especially the sauce, all 3 of them are too spicy for me, but they sure have all uniquely fresh flavors to them. Highly recommend and would definitely come back! read more

Verified Great Place! If you're looking for a place that serves great tacos & nachos, you must try this place. The service was great! We ordered at the counter and was lucky to snag a seat to dine in. The waitress brought our food out and offered other items that would make our food experience even better(sauces). The restaurant is not very large and from what I understand,many people frequent this place. It has a huge board on the wall with all the various menu items when you walk-in on the left. So with that being said, I would check out the menu online if you're in a hurry as there are a lot of items listed. The restaurant is child friendly and there is a restroom for customers. Across the street Cub Foods is now gone and high-end Mex is apparently on its way, while Great Harvest Bread and the new Fresh Thyme are other reasons to venture out this way...and here is Veracruz still kicking out authentic, no nonsense fresh Mex like nobody's business. Tonight I was not exaggerating with my check-in...I may have been the only one in the place (which was starting to fill up for the dinner crowd with around 15-18 customers), who employed English as my first language. Yet I always recognize faces that have been behind the counter since it's opening l....and given the excitement around my newest favorites Tacos Dorado and grilled chicken tacos (spatula-chopped right in front of you) and the consistent quality of my old standby's, I'm totally comfortable with this. Yes, we also recommend Herradura when also kicking back with adult beverages, but the bottom line is whether more shiny new TexMex options are here/coming to the East Side or not, we love this place.
