Jackalope is New and Improved!!! I'm so glad is reopened even better this time! I had the carne asada street tacos and I have to admit, they are the best I've had in a long time! No gristle, no toughness, just deliciousness! The chef explained that they only use prime beef in the restaurant! you can surely tell! Tina, the waitress was excellent as was all the staff! I had the Ranch salad which was mostly just kale and not much else. I added chicken which was dry and so tough I gave up trying to eat it. My husband said his pulled pork was just ok. Amazing service and great food. We had a our company Christmas dinner and everyone on staff was extremely helpful. Borracho Beans, 1/5 not much flavor to the beans and I expected something a little different. The ones I git was mostly a big chunk of meat and not much beans. I'm a little biS as I was expecting something else but flavor was not their at all, maybe I got an old batch. Yams. 4/5 good consistency not too much added sweetener added so that was good. It let the yam provide majority of sweetness and flavor to shine . BBQ Sauce 5/5 it was nice thick and warm... very syrupy and sweet tangy which I like.. def a plus Ribs.2/5. Well this was a little disappointing, the ribs were not fall off the bone tender but a little overly cooked and dried out. They were were very meaty though, but overcooking had killed some of its meats flavor. Packaging was a little odd they came wrapped in a vacuum sealed plastic that I had to peal off, which seemed odd. Saving the ribs was that tasty warm BBQ sauce which I dipped each rib in for,that tangy sweetness. I found this to be a very interesting place. It's very beautiful and has a fine dining feel, but serves a very casual menu. It seemed strange, but they were packed on a Monday, so it seems to work. Service was very slow. We ordered steamed mussels, a Wagyu burger with a side of aioli, Mac n cheese, a side salad and a half a rack of ribs. The food runner dropped a plate of shrimp on our table and said "here are your mussels". It took about 15 minutes to find our server to let him know that we received the wrong appetizer. By that tome, we had already received our entrees. I asked them to please hold our entrees until we have received our correct appetizer. Once we finished our appetizer and got the rest of our food, we were missing our side salad and the side of aioli. Unfortunately, we didn't see our server to let him know that we were missing things. The coleslaw that came with the ribs was warm, they had left it on the plate when putting it under the heat lamp while we waited for our appetizer. The rib on the ribs was awful, the bbq sauce was very sour and the burger was dry. I would recommend going and having a drink and enjoying the views, but I wouldn't recommend ordering food. I know that it recently reopened, but they definitely need to work on the menu and the service. read more

My wife and I were staying in Palm Springs for a week and decided to give Jackalope Ranch for dinner and drinks. My wife has been here prior to the new management and really liked it. Anyway, this place is really nice. Loved the lodge design and cool decorations. The outdoor patio is huge with two relaxing waterfalls. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. It's a gorgeous restaurant but don't let it fool you. The people there make the biggest difference. Mistakes happen but it's the mgmt that cares enough to help new staff learn the menu. Jesse is great. Mark the Manager is a great mentor and offers great customer service. He listens, and understands the customers. That's important. I'm a very transparent reviewer. Had not been back to Jackalope for a number of years. Used to frequent it, food was good, prices were reasonable, and service was good as well. Sitting outside was pleasant as well. They went through a rough time, and closed for awhile. Understand they had new management. Went yesterday. First impression - the hostesses were friendly but at shortly after 4, we had to wait almost 20 minutes to be seated outside (???). Had a friend coming to meet us, and left our name and described her so they could bring her to our table. When she arrived, she gave my name (again, I had provided a detailed description of her), and the response was, "We have a lot of Chris' here (again ?????), at which point our friend did a sweep of the restaurant to find us. We had a very nice server who was pleasant and attentive. So far, so good on the table situation. The dinner situation was not so pleasant. I had the beef sliders, that had a "dab" of beef on them, with too much coleslaw slapped on top. My yam fries were under-cooked, limp and mildly warm. My wife's portobello mushroom was under-cooked as well, and loaded with must have been powdered garlic. The beef tacos our friend ordered were over-cooked, and she "picked" at them - clearly not a favorite. We didn't complain about the food, but when finished, someone who appeared to be a manager came by to inquire about our meals. I said, "two out of three were not bad, but the mushroom was under-cooked", which my wife agreed with. He smiled, said, "Oh, sorry about that, would you like to order some desert"? Rather strange response. We said no, and I half-expected that there may have been an adjustment on the bill, but nope! Thought we would try to do our best to support another local restaurant, particularly after the tough times they all went through during the Covid fiasco. After reading the reviews. I was really reluctant to go to Jackalope. For one thing, the service issues have been addressed. Management has done their job. Every employee we encountered welcomed us to the restaurant. Our server, Lauren, was over the top with her friendliness and service. The only real negative for me were the baby back ribs which we ordered. Unlike others who criticized them for being overcooked or tough, I found them to have no real flavor. They looked great, but did not do it for me. I asked for some barbeque sauce. Their sauce has to be the most disappointing I've ever tried. The new restaurant is wonderfully appointed. We were in the area for a week from Santa Cruz for vacation. Used to live in LaQuinta & Jackalope WAS one of our favorite places. Came by 3 times & was never able to get in as they were closed. Read other recent reviews & are now counting ourselves lucky. Sewer smell in the restaurant?? Hours posted on the gate said they open at 3, but after parking & walking inside, we learned the owner recently changed opening time to 4pm. No change made on the gate signage. Nice looking interior, beautiful grounds, and good service from Tina. So, given that, why do they only get one star? Because the $33 (plus tip) ribs were entirely inedible. They were so dry, it was very difficult to swallow, even after adding extra barbeque sauce. To make matters worse, Charlie, the General Manager, came by and asked how the food was. I told him it was awful and he said "he would check." That was the last we saw of him other than him going from table to table talking to other customers. A good restaurant would have offered to take the food back. A decent restaurant would have given us a credit. Jackalope ranch didn't do any of that, they charged us full price. We had dinner with friends last night. First time ever going to Jackalope Ranch for the hubs and I. The property was absolutely beautiful. I would have given a five star but they are still working the kinks out. Our server was very nice but they were pretty slow with our drink order and appetizers but they were both very good. The place was really busy at the time we were there which was great to see. Our dinners arrive and they were really good. Desserts were very tasty. I believe once they get their groove on this will be a really cool place to bring family, friends and out of town guests . I'm sure they will get a five star review from me, once they are open longer. We definitely will back. Can't wait to see them evolve. read more

Sad to post this as we always liked this place. Totally different experience tonight and the manager did nothing. The food was not edible.,. With the exception of the cornbread. I ordered the same dish I always get but nothing about it was the same. The brisket was cold and fatty, beans were cold, the corn on the cob was maybe 2 inches long. Cole slaw slimy. I ended up wasting 40.00 on a meal I couldn't eat and did not enjoy one bit. I sent it back one and they reheated by adding hot bbq sauce to the top. The waitress was frustrated because apparently she had many returns tonight. I don't like to complain but the manager should have offered something. So as a result this restaurant is officially off the table and I won't be doing any happy hours there either. But this won't really affect them until all the snowbirds are gone and they need locals again. read more

Jackalope Ranch is back on my five star list from 8 months ago. JR had been a favorite 5 star place for me for some time, but then they closed down. When they reopened, I returned their first week open, but could give only 3 stars....clearly, JR was in the start up and training phase, and they still had some way to go to get back on track. Well, they made it. Four of us went to JR for lunch today, May 11th, and JR was hitting on all eight cylinders of American muscle car strength...no skinny jeans EV driver type food on this menu. The service, food, and seating were all spot on which made lunch enjoyable. And the menu is full of great options and the adult beverage menu is extensive. We sat on the patio and staff expertly adjusted the umbrellas for the much needed shade, and the nearby misters kept things nice despite the near 100F temperature. The waiter noted there are plans for more misters along the patio's perimeter, and we agreed they would be a nice addition. I had the Kobe burger with the green chili pepper and house made potato chips. The burger was cooked perfectly to the requested medium and the chips were good and crunchy...I do suggest a side of salsa would be a great addition to the chips. My guests had the turkey, avocado, tomato, and bacon sandwich, another had the meat loaf, and another had the wedge salad with a side loaded baked potato. Plates were empty at the conclusion of lunch, and we all agreed that JR was back and running as good as ever and we look forward to a return trip soon. read more

My wife and I were pretty much regulars here prior to them shutting down a year or so ago. We had been eating here since Don Callendar opened the place. So now that it is reopened, we were pretty excited to give it a try. Overall, it was so-so. The food was tasty. The service wasn't so much so. Our experience: We were greeted by a late teen/early 20 something girl wearing a pendelton and jeans. Not really dressed appropriately and not so friendly. Oh well. She sat us wear we could watch college basketball, which was what we wanted, so that was nice. We sat in an area with three tables. The other two were occupied, but nearing the end of their dining. Our waitress greeted us and gave us menus. She then went to the other tables and offered them cornbread. After some confusion (they were almost all done with their meals), I heard her explain that they had temporarily ran-out but since it was included with some of their meals, she was now offering it to them. They reluctantly said yes, she brought it, set it on the tables, and there it sat until the bus boy cleared the tables long after they had left. Back to us, we ordered; my wife a brisket meal, me a BLTA. I asked if I could substitute beans for the fries or chips. No I was told. I would have to pay for the beans. I told her the fries also had a cash value and asked her to apply my fries credit towards my beans debit. She was not amused. No beans. Ordered chips. My sandwich was good. I didn't eat the chips. My wife's brisket was very good. Small portion. The BBQ sauce was well onto the spicy side. I like spicy. She doesn't. I asked the waitress if they had other BBQ sauce options. Nope. That is the only one. If that is true, this is the only BBQ restaurant in the Northern Hemisphere with only one sauce option. Woodranch, Phil's, Lucille's, etc all offer a variety of sauces. But not Jackalope Ranch. Spicy or none. Oh well, the food was good. Over priced for what you are given though. By the way, I tried my wife's beans and they were outstanding. Wish I could have substituted. Overall, the service was not great. A little surly and sour. The food was good, not great. The prices were a little high. And, usually (this was a rare exception) my wife and I split a meal. This time we opted not to, which was fortuitous because of the size of the portion on her brisket meal. I don't know if this place will survive. Hard to say at this point. I heard grumblings from the other two tables as well. It's not what it used to be... at least not yet. read more

We have been to Jackalope's several times since their opening and have had wonderful service, no exceptional service, excellent food and in all a wonderful evening. I am thrilled that Jackalope is back. We did have to wait a bit for a very slammed bar but the drinks were worth the wait and the server was apologetic. All in all, a very fun evening. read more

You know when a place is special because the service and food makes you feel special but unfortunately during my birthday dinner at Jackalope Ranch restaurant, the tri-tip strips I ordered were very tough and difficult to chew. I tried to eat them, but they were not cut properly against the grain. When I brought this to the attention of a staff member, they did not offer an apology, refund, or gift card, just a shrug. All I wanted was a plate of tri-tip I could eat. On our next visit, we ordered the sausage charcuterie appetizer which was disappointing for the price. The sausages were dry and served without any dipping sauce like mustard. When we requested mustard to make them edible, it never arrived. Eventually, I had to get up and ask the bartender for some mustard. Despite the nice venue design, there seems to be a need for better management in the kitchen and front of house for the restaurant to succeed. Such a shame because we very much enjoy taking our out-of-town visitors to interesting venues, but never will we dare if the food and service is disappointing. read more
