Had a business/pleasure meeting so we decided to meet over Chinese. The person I was meeting suggested we try JOY Asian Cuisine, the menu looked good so I was game. The restaurant is hard to find in the huge building and we ultimately had to ask directions but that's a minor detail. And if we had come through an entrance closer to the actual restaurant that might have been different. One thing that gave me pause is you can smell cigarette smoke going through the main casino building but thankfully the restaurant air was fresh with no detectable smoke odor. I suspect a positive air-flow system which is good. The restaurant interior is roomy, clean and pleasant with Oriental style decor which is nice. The staff were warm and inviting right from the person that greeted us at the entrance, throughout our meal and just as gracious upon our exit. We were there during the lunch menu which of course is limited but plenty of appealing choices. I ordered Twice cooked pork which though I have made myself I don't recall ever ordering it in a restaurant. My dish was very tasty with plenty of tender pork slices and filling enough I didn't want dessert. My lunch partner had Kung Pao chicken which looked good though I didn't taste, but he thought underwhelming, bland and average at best. If only going by my experience I would have given 5 stars but I have to take into consideration the opinion of my lunch partner for the benefit of anyone reading this review. I would eat there again but not likely anytime soon as it is an unnecessarily long drive when there are plenty of Asian restaurants that I like within my local area. Being completely ignored. After 15 minutes, we got our orders taken another 10 to 12 minutes. No drinks... we flagged one of the workers down. She brought us our drinks. We came here for dinner. We have been here before and had a great meal. This time we knew the portions are huge so we split an entree and got a few appetizers and soup. And we still took things home! This time We were greeted by Irene our server. She was professional and efficient. I always get the plumb wine here . It's sweet but it gets you ready for the Asian experience! We were brought our egg rolls and bao buns first . They were yummy. We have in the past had Shu Mi and Gyozas , also great choices. Our soup was pork and shrimp wonton. On a recent trip to California to celebrate a birthday, my Aunt & I had a fabulous meal at Joy Asian Cuisine. We were greeted with smiles & seated promptly. Several patrons were enjoying their meal as well as a few people who sat at the bar having drinks. Our server was very polite and attentive. She served our drinks and did not push us to order until we were ready. The two appetizers we chose were delicious. The pancake had just the right amount of kick to it. The chutney complimented it very nicely. The spring rolls were crispy and flavorful. Not greasy nor dry. When duck is available on a menu, I always order it. Duck is one of my favorite dishes. I was not disappointed. The portion size was ample, enough to make a meal for the following day. The duck was accompanied by an orange glaze and a side of rice. My Aunt thoroughly enjoyed the crispy shrimp which also came on a bed of rice. We ordered the garlic spinach to share. The one disappointment was that green tea ice cream was not available. My Aunt opted for vanilla ice cream. A slice of white cake was offered complimentary as a birthday treat. I sipped on a glass of Merlot. Overall we had a very pleasant and relaxing evening. A restaurant serving delicious Asian cuisine at Fantasy Springs Casino. This past Friday evening, we were craving Asian food after an outdoor music concert at Fantasy. At first, I was thinking Chinese noodles and egg rolls. We enter through the wide entrance doors and spot unoccupied stools at the front bar. We snag them. At the bar, Jose greeted us with a smile, and took our drinks order. The cozy bar serves wine, liquor, and beer. We were starving so our food order was taken pronto. Our food items were ready in less than 15 minutes. I enjoyed the Filipino pancit noodles with chicken and veggies. The pancit noodles were delicious. I had not eaten pancit in over a decade. Okay, the best thing about this place is they have a bar that you can sit at and order food. The last thing I wanted to do was to go sit in a Chinese restaurant in a casino while we're waiting for our event to kick off. The food was average to average plus the server/ bartender was extremely nice and helpful. However the kitchen was woefully unprepared for preparing the food and getting it out in a timely fashion. Typically in a Chinese restaurant you order all your food and things just start flying out of the kitchen in no particular order. In this case it was a long slog to receive our very simple orders. A goup of us ate at Joy on April 4th and had a bad experience but am now writing to praise them. I wrote to the restaurant to express my complaint about someone knocking on our table to say it is time to leave, there is someone else waiting for our table. We tried to say we were waiting 30 minutes for our bill but he wouldn't listen and was very rude. We had eaten here twice before and l loved it. I received an email back from managment apologing and said that is not their style. I also received a phone call a couple of weeks from the high manament that this was not their practice and have dealt with the situation. The food was outstanding, but what truly set the evening apart was the service from our waiter Tony and his assistant Chad. From the moment we sat down, we were treated to five Star Service. 5 stars. A new friend of mine told me that I had to give Joy a try. I was initially turned off because this restaurant is inside a casino, but that's a conversation for another time. I recently got a new car and felt like taking a lunchtime drive. Joy did not disappoint. BBQ noodle soup: 5 stars! I ordered the pork BBQ noodle soup. I was given the chicken noodle soup. Both were delicious. Chicken: tender, flavorful, DELICIOUS skin on some of the chicken slices. Pork: DELICIOUS. juicy, flavorful and juuuust the right amount of fat. Mostly meat and just delicious! The soup itself if clear, appears to be rich in collagen, and comes with a healthy portion of rice noodles and baby bok choy. Add a little green onions and you got a 5 star dish in and of itself. I was about halfway thorough the chicken noodle soup when the Manager, Victoria came by the check on us. I mentioned that the soup was delicious, but I had actually ordered the BBQ PORK noodle soup and asked if I could try a bite of the pork. I am so glad I did this because even though the chicken was 5 star, the pork is much much better. I slid the slices of pork into my soup and gobbled them up. Spicy cucumbers: 5 stars Great appetizer! So difficult to get Authentic good Asian food in Coachella Valley. This is about as good as you are going to get and it is mediocre at best. We didn't have a reservation, but was able to get a table in the main dining room. For starters, we ordered a sampler, which was very tasty and let's you try several items (spare ribs, egg roll, potsticker. beef skewer) to whet your appetite before the main Entree. I thoroughly enjoyed the Korean Bi Bim Bap, the rice and egg were cooked perfectly. They had a bunch of employees hanging out at shift change, standing around in the entrance giving each other high fives and knuckle bumps like a bunch of street idiots. The waitress brought warm sake when we ordered cold sake, forgot to bring our appetizer so we got our appetizer after our meal, then forgot to bring our second round of drinks. Overall this place is horrible for service and there doesn't seem to be any management keeping the hoodlums (employees) from loitering when their shift end! I highly recommend the chicken fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken (general tsos chicken I believe that's what they called it) and lo mein (chow mein). The mango mojito was good and a very generous amount based on other places I've been to. We just walked in but generally they said you need a reservation specially for a bigger party. After many visits to Joy for dinner, I felt like I needed to share some things. I have always found the service to be really good! The food has been just shy of incredible, except this visit. Saturday June 13th around 5pm. I'll use scale 1-10. Greeted and shown to our table. Water & menu immediately, drink orders taken, returned in timely manner to take our orders. Food started arriving. 3 appetizers & 4 main dishes. The duck was really dry and tasted awful. The server was great at making it disappear and replaced it with DimSum. Bigger mistake, looked good on the outside, but raw/cold. Server took it away apologizing. When we finished, we asked for the manager, Antonio was there in a flash. He was wonderful, items removed from the bill and apologized. It was just an off night. Score, 10 . The Biggest Complaint of the evening is the noise level! it is so loud, you can barely have a conversation. Score 2. We all agreed, next time we will ask to be seated in the bar. Mom and I played bingo until 4:15 and we ran over to their Asian restaurant to eat. We had to sit on the bar seats because they had reservations later for all the other empty tables. Our waiter/bartender was really nice and did a great job with the service. His name is Christian. We decided to try their Peking duck which you do not have to order in advance. The duck was really good except for the duck pancakes which tasted like flour tortillas that were cold and dried out. . For 52 dollars they should rethink the brand that they buy because it can make or break the dish.next time we will have the buns instead if we order it again.
