Cafe 54 has been a go-to spot for my family for a while now, specifically for breakfast. I'm unsure how their lunch/dinner service is like these days, so I have no input on that. The pandemic has drastically changed how they operate, having gone from a buffet-style eatery to a more limited menu. But truth be told, this has been a blessing in disguise. There's still something for everyone. Feel like some simple eggs, hashbrowns and bacon? They got it. Pancakes? Covered. Feeling more like country fried chicken or chilaquiles? Yup and yes. It might not be 5-star, but the food is good and the choices aren't overwhelming...which is great, because like many cannot, I cannot be trusted to make sound decisions before a cup of coffee in the morning. read more

I'll Start off by saying I've eaten here several times but only for the special on the burger on Tuesdays. Which is a great deal and great burger! But I had to leave a review this time. We were seated immediately, our server was nice but MIA. Our appetizer came out quickly , the chiles güeros we're very bland. They should've cooked them a little longer and added some seasoning inside with the shrimp. I was in the mood for tacos, but unfortunately, you have to get three of the same kind, They will not mix them. My husband's Birria tacos were very tender but a bit bland, and they gave us such a small portion of consume it. You couldn't dip your taco in it. My first time going to this casino, I got invited for breakfast because they said that they had the best pozole. Come to find out pozole was only available in the afternoon. All they had was Menudo. I thought I'd try it. Of course it was delicious. This Mexican traditional stew Reminded me so much of my mom's that she used to make it at home. It was very clean ,non-greasy. A lot of good flavor. Big portion of meat. I'm glad I had the opportunity to taste the Menudo, but I will be back to taste the pozole. These casinos have some hidden gems and it's my pleasure to taste them all. read more

The food was delicious. Our waiter was a bit MIA and did not come back to our table and when he brought back our check he never came back we had to get up and pay. Haven't had a bad meal there. It's clean and comfortable. I just recently went in for the 10 dollar hamburger special. You get a big half pound patty that's been flame broiled. Brioche bun, all the trimmings, with a small personal basket of freshly cooked fries, and a refillable soft drink. Ten bucks thursday through Sunday. Service is good too. First thing I like to say is our server Yolanda did a fine job and had nothing to do with this. They updated their menu and when we asked the manager why she said that's the way it is and basically walked away well they've changed their menu and their cooks do not care about food quality or presentation. Our food came and we ordered two of the same dishes French toast with sausage and over medium eggs. On my father's plate there were only two sausages and one strip of bacon which was not ordered on my plate there was three sausages the eggs were cooked fine but they were so greasy that I have a picture of a napkin that you'll see that is soaked in Grease because they don't know how to flip eggs obviously the French toast was had big holes in it and so 2/3 of the slice of bread was missing when we told the manager about it she says oh well I'm sorry and walked away this was the second time with poor food quality and service the first time was kind of okay because they only had one server on but they had like six managers trying to help in any way they can they even come part of our meal that time because of the weight without us even having to ask but the food was very low quality the manager's attitude was poor there's no reason to go to this restaurant for anything in the future. This restaurant is extremely mediocre at best. The menu has only unhealthful options. I am a low-carb eater and could find nothing to order. I ordered the shrimp on Asian slaw, but the tiny shrimps were deep-fried in a thick batter. So I ordered the Cobb salad without cheese or avocado. It had only four ingredients: Romaine lettuce, chicken, eggs, and tomatoes. It was served with ranch dressing. The lettuce edges were all brown. I ate it anyway because I had already sent back one plate. An hour later I began to get a stomach ache. (You generally don't get a stomach ache when you eat low carb, so this was food-related.) I still have the stomach ache 4 hours later. Not only that, but there's only one window in the restaurant, and patrons were not being seated in the section with the window. So ambience was definitely lacking. Additionally, ALL the music catered to the young staff rather than the clientele. Sitting there listening to that kind of music was very grating. (The clientele is generally middle-aged, and therefore the casino should keep that in mind when choosing music.) Overall, my experience was not good, and I would never go back. read more

I used to drive from Palm Desert for their Carne Asada Pizza. I was devastated to find out that it is no longer on their menu. I work at Bill's pizza, which is pretty bomb, but driving to Coachella for that Pizza with the chile verde sauce, carne asada, jalapeño, cilantro, and queso fresco was sooo worth it. I am telling you; I am telling you... this place never disappoints. i have there so many times and the food has always been great. You can place your order online and go pick it up. If you eat at the restaurant, they take a bit long to serve you your food, but well worth the wait. This past week we were down in La Quinta and decided to get dinner at Cafe 54. We place the order online and went to pick it up. It was so delicious. I had the 14oz Prime Rib dinner for $28 and my wife had Trio entree made up of 3 lobster tails plus vegetables and mashed potatoes. I was intrigued. Will be going back. This place once used to be a good place to eat food was good all hours of the night.. Whatever you do don't get the chicken strips they're horrible. The burger is really good the fries are amazing the service can be a little sketchy at night especially on the weekends but like I said it's not as good as it used to be it used to be one of my favorite places for breakfast. They used to have one of the best meatloafs in the valley. I thought it was the best meatloaf. But that's gone. It's a shame that such a really good place to eat when downhill. As for the bar well the bar still on point drinks are good fun atmosphere. Hopefully one day they could bring the restaurant back to life. read more

Definitely not what we expected. The food was really good. , we had prime rib and it was delicious. We started with lobster fettuccine and a blooming onion. Here's what we ordered: 2 lobster tails with steak, mashed potatoes and veggies ($29 each, yes only $29) . 2 mango Ice creams ($3 each) HUGE SERVINGS, packed inside of the containers 1 slice of pecan pie (also $3, grand mom didn't like that it was served cold , she likes it hot but still enjoyed the flavor) We each ordered our steaks differently as far as the way we wanted them cooked. Sat down for maybe 15 minutes and BAM, here comes the plates. Soooo good. Everything was seasoned well, the servings are just right. Located nowhere in the Coachella Valley, the Augustine Casino, Cafe 54 is located within, is all alone along fields of open land. Not much good to say about the casino (more to come in a separate review), but Cafe 54 has it going on. A somewhat small buffet, it features different themed menus each night of the week, such as Mexican, Italian, and BBQ ($13.95 per person, a steal really). On Friday and Saturday night it's Seafood ($28.95 per person), and the main feature -- 5" all you can eat Lobster tails. Needless to say, any night you choose, I think you'll be pleased. No vibe, but who cares!?!?! Lobster, and Lobster, and Lobster ========================== I went back for Lobster tails 5x. Along with trying a plethora of other morsels, I'd have to rate (in order of delish): Lobster, Lobster Ravioli, Crab Legs, Prime Rib, Kielbasa Sausage, and Pork Loin in a Mushroom Sauce. Everything else was average, but the aforementioned with loads worth the price of gold. The casino is not very good, but if you need a fix -- it'll work. The buffet, however, is worth the drive. The bf and I were super hungry and since we were in the area, we stopped by here for some food. I got the club sandwich and he got the burger. My club sandwich was good, but its just like any other club sandwich. It came with a choice of french fries or potato salad so I chose the potato salad boy was I disappointed. The potato salad had so much celery, red bell peppers, green bell peppers inside. A plain potato salad would've been better. The burger was good but a plain. And the french fries that came with it was great! I really enjoyed the fries since it wasn't like any of the other fries. We did have to wait over 15 minutes for our food though. Yummmmmm!! Let's start with the crème brûlée and go backwards! Saturday night is lobster night and oh my goodness it was fantastic! We were worried it would be those gross cheap overcooked tails, but they were wonderful! They also have stuffed shrimp which was one of our favorites, as well as the prime rib which was my husband's favorite! There is too much stuff to be true! Ate here last week and reviewed them on google maps decided to review them here as well. The hostess and our server were very mediocre. The food was sub par. I got a second cup of ranch after they heard me complain to my wife. Only got our drinks filled one time! After eating almost all the ice out of my cup and finishing my plate was I offered another refill. Little too late. Work on your servers and more people will come. From the first time I been here to this moment I've always had a great visit to the buffet. I enjoy the weekend seafood buffet the most($30 take or give). I get as much warm crab legs as possible and just put a lot of butter in a small soul bowl so I'm not using a bunch of plastic 2oz cups. The lobster is acceptable. I usually come for breakfast in the morning on sundays and become designated driver for my friends when they do the bottomless mimosas, but watch out the price of OJ can add up pretty quick. Service is always friendly, but don't expect 10/10 service when they're changing from breakfast to lunch buffets for like 30 minutes. ASK FOR JOCELYN SHES AWESOME!!! I came too early for lunch and too late for breakfast but the nice hostess lady sat us and we got our drinks and I had access to all the desserts either way since it's included in all buffets. read more

This is a nice buffet. Nicely decorated and clean. Most of the time I come here is for breakfast. The service is great. The waiters are always attentive. The food is good. They have mashed potatoes, chilaquiles, corn, quesadillas, steak, taquitos and they carry menudo. They have an area where a chef cooks you an omelette. The only thing I love from here are the Shrimp Quesadillas, they are yummy! Their dessert area is delicious as well! They have cherry, blueberry, raspberry pies, many kinds of cakes, they even have multiple kinds of ice cream! I give it 3 stars because it is always the same food items for breakfast. It never really changes. Maybe changing a few food items here and there would be great. Overall, it is a nice place to enjoy breakfast with family and friends. read more

Indoor dining is a farce. General Mgr.in TV ads shows food being served on china. Styrofoam box -plastic cutlery, etc......is what you really get..... Other Indian owned casinos such as Aqua Caliente, Fantasy Springs are serving wonderful meals on china. My wife and I ate at the Buffet for dinner, this was a Monday evening when the dinner was Chinese and Prime Rib. I chose the prime rib and found out there was no potato dish, Mashed or baked, only a potato salad in the salad bar. very disappointing No veggie dish either. a person was forced to eat Asian food. so I decided to have a stir fry made and the person doing the cooking was obviously incompetent. couldn't seem to do more than two orders without messing them up , couldn't remember whose dish was whos and as the line got long ,maybe 7-8 people she lost her composure and I waited 10 minutes and gave up with out even getting my dish into a frying pan. my wife finally came back to the table with hers and it got cold before she could eat it . On a positive note the Prime rib was excellent, they just needed a potato and veggies to go with it. Prime rib and Rice isn't on my best dinner list. We visit the valley regularly and this was our first trip to St Augustine's and will be the last . So many better Buffets out there, they advertised its chosen best Buffet , but dont believe it. read more
